The pacing of these past couple of volumes is off the rails. Things are happening so quickly that you barely have time to process them. Richmond is such an interesting character that I'm honestly indignant on Richard's behalf. I have no clue how Aya Kanno will be able to wrap the story up in a satisfying way.

El libro es el tomo 16, el penúltimo tomo del manga Baraou no Souretsu. Yo no había leído los anteriores tomos de la historia pero gracias a que en las primeras páginas aparece un resumen de todo lo que ha ocurrido en los anteriores tomos y una breve descripción de los personajes que aparecen en la historia es fácil situarse en la trama. La historia es una versión oscura de la obra de Shakespeare, Ricardo III, en la que las familias de Lancaster y York se disputan el trono de Inglaterra. Este tomo se centra en Richard, el hijo más joven de la casa de York, quien por fin ha conseguido sentarse en el trono pero tras descubrir la traición de una de las personas más importantes para él, el conde de Buckingham, Richard debe tomar una difícil decisión. La verdad es que al principio se me hizo algo complicado situarme en la historia pero a medida que iba leyendo conseguí hacerme una idea de la historia general así como los roles de los personajes que iban apareciendo. Richard es el protagonista y quien más peso tiene en la historia, es un joven que ha sido repudiado por su propia madre por haber nacido con ambos sexos y sobre el que pesa una cruel maldición: traerá ruina y destrucción sobre todo lo que ama. Él está dispuesto a todo para hacerse con el poder incluso dañar a quien más quiere. La verdad es que Richard fue un personaje que me intrigó bastante, oscuro, roto, solitario y lleno de secretos que hace que el lector empatice con él. El resto de personajes tienen un papel meramente secundario pero complementan perfectamente la personalidad volátil y destructiva de Richard. Lo que más me ha gustado del libro es el dibujo, el estilo del autor es increíble, los personajes están muy bien creados y tienen una personalidad acorde con su apariencia física. Además las escenas de acción y los guiones complementan perfectamente la historia, situándote en todo momento en los lugares en los que se desarrolla la acción. Además la edición está muy cuidada, desde las tapas del tomo, a las ilustraciones pasando por el marcapáginas que la editorial incluyó en el libro. Además la historia me pareció de lo más original, una versión fantástica de un clásico de Shakespeare combinado con temas actuales como los roles de género. El manga es del tipo yaoi así que a todos los amantes del género creo que les gustaría.

"Mi objetivo con esta decisión no es hacer daño a nadie, sino expiar mis pecados. Es una forma de pedir perdón a todos aquellos que he amado y que amo, pero a los que dañé sin dudarlo. No es mi redención, porque mi alma es demoniaca, pero si es mi aceptación sobre esos pecados y la forma en las que puedo expiarlos y diluir mi marca de sus vidas."

Tomo bastante engañoso, ya que no esperaba que fuese a enfocarse más en la situación desde un punto de vista sentimental, sino que iba convencida del enfoque bélico que se iba a adoptar. Aunque este nuevo enfoque me ha gustado muchísimo más, ya que ofrece mucha más profundidad y dramatismo a este final de obra, al que tan poco le queda.

Ya se han ido mostrando el destino final de algunos de los personajes de la obra, siendo algunos algo previsibles y otros más sorprendentes. Aunque esto no quiere decir que la autora se haya relajado, ya que el factor sorpresa que hace que las situaciones afecten más siguen estando muy presentes.

También se siguen mostrando las consecuencias de las elecciones pasadas, siendo cada una más dura y trágica que la anterior, las cuales golpean de lleno y sin piedad a un pobre rey que ya no ve el cielo sobre su cabeza. Está tan cegado por las espinas que no dejan de golpear, que no es capaz de ver las nuevas zarzas que se enroscan a su cuello sigilosamente.

Los enemigos, aprovechando, siguen reduciendo el poder del rey, con el objetivo de llegar hasta el trono, y gobernar el país bajo su propio mandato. Aunque, ¿lo conseguirán?

Nunca voy a poder superar este tomo. Solo había dos cosas que imploré a Aya Kanno y, nop, una de ellas se ha cumplido. Era inevitable, así debía ser ya que ocurrió en la realidad. Pero ver el giro y cómo sensei lo integra a su propia historia me ha destrozado el corazón, el alma, todo. Iba mentalizada y preparada. Me hice el spoiler nada más tener el tomo en la mano, pero nada ha dolido como la más grande de las puñaladas. El telón pronto se cerrará y sabré cómo acaba uno de los mejores mangas sue he leído y leeré en mi vida.

With this penultimate volume in the series, we come to the point where Richard will face off against the ultimate betrayal: that of the Duke of Buckingham. While in the south, Richmond - now styled as Henry Tudor - marshals forces to take down the 'evil King Richard". The melodrama continues in this fun fiction based on Shakespeare's plays (rather than actual history).

Story: Richard knew he would have to deal with Buckingham but it is still a bitter pill to kill the man he loves the most in the world. His wife Anne, meanwhile, has become deathly ill and wants nothing more than to have her son disinherited so his gentle soul would not have to face the evils of court. Richard's allies are dwindling, his wife dying, his son too naive to be an heir and ruler, and his greatest ally will soon amass a powerful army.

A lot happens in this volume as we lead up to Richard's death at the battle of Bosworth in the next novel. Kanno still has great fun with the history and of course she started these novels before Richard III's body was found in the parking lot and the truth of his actual deformity revealed. But there is a lot of good history here as well, though it is a fun night indeed that can be spent comparing the bishounen of Kanno's manga with the actual portraits of the historical figures.

In all, this has been a fun take on Shakespeare's propaganda plays about the War of the Roses. I look forward to finishing in the next volume. Reviewed from an advance reader copy provided by the publisher.

The amount of stress and anxiety I am feeling in anticipation of the finale is tremendous. Aya Kanno is holding nothing back in her endeavor to drive all her fans into a pit of despair and will probably bathe herself in our tears when the time comes.

"Wait for me... in hell. We will... meet again."

I'm actually deceased...RIP my heart.

The twisty melodramatic everythingness sure ramped up this volume! I'm excited to see how my soap opera trash mangachild wraps up in v17. I seriously cannot in good conscious recommend this unless you really need some problematic, in it 1000%, continuous angsty drama period story. It's so great/bad!

This is the first time I’ve cried while reading this series and this volume made me cry twice. It’s a little scary cause everything is moving so fast, I don’t know how it’s going to end plus Tyrrell’s true identity has still not been revealed! I worry this story won’t end with Richard and Henry living happily together as shepherds 😭

I really can’t see an happy ending coming and it scares me, I just hope Edouard will live an happy and peaceful life like Anne and Richard wished for him ; w ; and the conclusion of Richard and Buckingham relationship was so tragic and wow, it made me shade a tear not gonna lie.
