Nice book meant for younger readers (preschool/Kindergarten/1st). Contains large, colorful pictures, simple text, table of contents, glossary, index, and examples of types of penguins. The only thing I would have liked to see added was pronunciation guide, mostly for the Adelie penguin, since this is made for younger children who may not have heard of them before. Overall another nice addition for younger kids by Abdo.
A photographic essay with simple text to introduce young readers to penguins. The text is suitable for readaloud and the illustrations are large enough for a group too. It would be lovely for all penguin species pictured to be identified – the only flaw in the otherwise solid preschool nonfiction title. Recommended for most libraries.
I loved the baby penguins and the macaroni penguins, but I didn’t know penguins could sometimes have yellow necks, or even a little yellow on their head. They look super funny and make super funny sounds.
I like that penguins can’t fly, because that makes them unique.
