Miranda Lightwood is a good witch. A status she still strives for, despite being shunned by her coven and having her every move dogged by poisonous rumors to the contrary.
When a powerful daemon lord takes her hostage, trapping her inside his fortress, Miranda knows she’s about to face her most difficult trial yet. All that she stands for hinges on her ability to withstand his demands, no matter the cost.
But Atiernan subverts her expectations in the worst way. The savage, evil monster she’s been taught to loathe is the polar opposite of the strangely kind, and complex man he appears to be—and maybe, deep down, Miranda isn’t the saintly, innocent witch he requires to further his own manipulative ends.
The passion between them is strong enough to forge a bond capable of unifying their races toward the common good, but one wrong move and Atiernan knows he risks causing a rift that will usher in an ancient evil destined to consume the whole world.
The stakes are too high. He knows he can’t fail. No matter how strongly his little witch resists…
I am a quirky writer from the US who dabbles in dark, paranormal and contemporary romance. My stories aren't always typical, but contain a little something for everyone.
✔ This scratched my vampire vs. witch pnr craving I've had since reading Die by the Drop. I enjoyed the world-building; the daemon & witch mythology. It's nothing extraordinarily deep, yet I found myself interested and wanting to learn more about the world, creatures, and magic.
✔ Chemistry between the couple was good
✔ Miranda's characterization was done SO WELL. As the book went on I became more and more intrigued with her history. She's layered.
✔ Positive female relationships amongst the mfc & female side-characters. I'm starting to note this more when reading books. I'm over all female side-characters being villainous or bitches.
✔ The ugly duckling trope was pulled off well. The author walked the line of having a plain heroine yet making it clear the mmc is attracted to her. There was nuance. And lets be real he's clearly subconsciously attracted to her power and sweet witch blood. This reminded me of the Sookie Stackhouse series. Sure, Sookie was a cute blonde, but come on, why are these vampires pining over her?
✗ This book would've been better if there had been actual sex. We're all adults here and Lana Sky writes dark erotic romance. I expect sex in her books. I get this is a rather short first installment (59K) and the author was trying to build suspense and make it a slow-burn. . .I became impatient. It would've been even more interesting imo if Miranda just completely let go in the moment and went for it and dealt with the aftermath. There better be good steam in the next book, no more of these interruptions.
✗ Miranda made it clear daemons enjoy drinking witches' blood. If she smelled so good I'm surprised none of the other male daemons made moves on her at all. I understand why they don't like witches, but the only reason I can think this isn't the case is if the smell is a fated mates thing?

May 24, 2022 Update: Move over, Dublin!! We got a new vampire from Lana Sky >:)
I'm rating this 4 vampire sucking neck stars. I read vampire romances because I want the love bite - this is the only bloodplay I enjoy lol. And oof that first scene we get at the beginning of the novel is well worth it. Although it is not a smutfest. No physical congress, although some petting. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
One of the mysteries are more obvious to guess. Did anyone else think Miranda is half daemon and half witch? Hybrids are considered "unclean" and she was able to heal quick, which seems to be a daemon ability. That she also has an affinity for blood magic also seems to suggest she has a lot of power but I'm not sure if that has to do with the daemon lineage.
Atiernan is a swoon-worthy daemon, AKA vampire. He is the supreme. He has silky long, blood-red hair. I had an image of Michael Langdon when he has long hair in American Horror Story: Apocalypse although his hair was not dark red...
The next instalment comes out next month! It ends on a cliffy where Atiernan is set on punishing Miranda when he gets her in his clutches. I hope the mysteries unravel well and for more neck sucking scenes that lead to you know what.
May 21, 2022 Update: I am waiting for my pre-order to arrive T-minus 3 days!!! Perfect timing. Just finished Lana Sky’s dark cartel series (ok but what is the scoop on Jaguar’s book? Is it still happening? 🧐) and now just twiddling my thumbs to wait for this one!!! Fingers crossed. I highly enjoyed Ellie Gray Chronicles - the first book I read from Sky! Here’s to more vampires, demons, witches 😈
Pre-ordered!!! I am ready for May 23 now, please :)
This sinfully seductive read quickly sank its tantalizing claws into me and has me viciously craving more! Miranda and Atiernan's story gets off to a wickedly tempting start with a lush combination of scorching heat, brutal intensity, raw emotion, captivating drama, taut tension, breath stealing danger and jaw dropping twists. I really liked these two and find myself very intrigued by the layers that are in play here. Of course this is only book one of two for this couple so that means there is a looming cliffy ahead. As for myself, I thought it was amazing. Can't wait for book two!! This is my frank, freely posted review.
Daemon's Blood is the first installment of the new Daemon Blade series. i was very inriguted by the book synposis and once i started reading i couldnt stop. I managed to finish this book in less than 2 days. Lana's style of writing here is a perfect mix of mystery, suspense and romance and it was all brought to life by an amazing developed and unique lead characters. the charhcher dynamics worked so well here and the tension and chemisty was perfect, the story it self was very original and full of twists. I can't wait to read the 2nd installment in this series and find out what happens next.
Atiernan and Mirandas kept me obsessed from the beginning and I can’t wait for the next one! There is so many reasons these two are so opposite and have no reasons to believe the other person but they also can’t seem to stay clear of the danger each one may offer
I started this book and read all in one setting. This is a story that you don’t want to end!! The attraction is there between Miranda and Atiernan, they are drawn to each other but both are in denial. She has been raised to not trust the daemans and that they are vile and cruel beings and Atiernan had a witch lover who used him so his trust in witches to believe they are all the same. Can not wait for book two!
I really wanted to like this book and get into it but I was confused by a lot of things!
What I liked
I liked Miranda - I thought she was interesting and her backstory sounds very mysterious, there is obviously something about her that is different.
I really liked Miranda's interactions with Peony but felt there could have been a better build-up of bonding. Especially after the first interaction, where Miranda was hurt and upset by the words Peony said.
I liked Miranda saving Beth. I thought this would really create a bit of redeeming quality about her and have the other daemons change their minds about her, but it didn't.
Miranda is firm on her culture/beliefs which is good, and then crumbles to the MMC which we love to see.
What I didn't like/confused about
The world-building where is Hazel Way, compared to the Daemon world? where is Marcus from? (potentially answered in book 2) what other lords are there surrounding Atiernan? what other lands are Atiernan's estate surrounded by?
The castle where most of the book takes place appears confusing, twisted and even I'm lost wondering where places are.
Plot is jumpy, there are some parts where I don't understand why and how some answers were discovered. i.e. how did Miranda trace the blood/ what happened to the flesh of the sentinel that was given to her... we didn't see that next step. We got a taste of the plans, but no follow-up or follow through.
Atiernan I found this character very heavily influenced by minor characters Benjamin says something and Atiernan jumps and agrees with him Take Miranda to the Tribunal after the first break in --> nothing actually happened with this? Atiernan tells Miranda to do something, releases her magic Doubts all actions Miranda takes INSTANTLY without looking to hear her side despite literally asking her to do the thing she is trying to do as well as jump her bones. He feels like he should be a bad boy with a soft spot for her, but doesn't actually have a soft spot her? Doesn't provide excuses, doesn't admit to releasing her magic? I am not getting the vibe that Miranda and Atiernan have chemistry It's feeling very forced and not mutual. He is thinking about her and her blood, Miranda I don't feel has really thought about it, maybe once.
Miranda is the strongest witch ever....and has hardly used her powers.....
I received an advanced readers copy of this book and have provided an honest review.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "DAEMON'S BLOOD This is extremely well written paranormal adventure written by Lana Sky with so much mystery, intrigue, suspense, steam, secrets, lies, betrayal, past torture, emotional turmoil, twists that have you turning the pages so addicting you couldn't put down. Atiernan once second in command to Lucifer now the Daemon Lord who kidnap Miranda Lightwood a witch from Hazel Way's Coven needs her help with a situation his people are being attacked by evil creatures only she can hopefully banish. Atiernan & Miranda don't have trust in each other at all she heard things about Raeth & he's been burned by Liva a witch from her Hazel Way's Coven she almost destroyed him but they seem to have an attraction to one another they don't understand. Peony is a Mage who's like a mother to Atiernan has a daughter Beth who Miranda almost died by the creature after his people trying to save her. Peony & Miranda work together to come up with something that get rid of these creatures once & for all but there are secrets that need to be revealed. I definitely recommend to get this amazing well written adventure you'll be hooked, so well worth the read it won't disappoint I love the chemistry between Atiernan & Miranda. I'm so looking forward to the next book in this Daemon Blade series "DAEMON'S KISS" after that cliffhanger need to know what happens between "Atiernan & Miranda" there's a new comer we need to know more about as well.
This is book one of a new series featuring Atiernan, a Raeth demon born in hell and feeds on blood, and Miranda part witch and part of something else not yet revealed. She has been rejected by her coven and is isolated. Atiernan “forces” her to help him with a problem of enemies encroaching on his territory. There is definite heat between these two, but is a slow burn due to their distrust of each other. If you have read this author before, you know of her impeccable approach to characterization of her cast, great story, and strong world building. If you haven’t read her work before, this is a great one to start.
I received this book as an ARC and am voluntarily reviewing it.
I could not get enough the intense scenes kept me on my toes I never knew what was coming next. Just think a witch and a dark lord vampire who knows what's going to happen. I cannot wait!!
I honestly didn’t find the plot or main characters that interesting. Atiernan was passive and easily influenced by others. Miranda was supposed to be powerful but it felt more hyped up than the actual truth (“telling us, not showing us”). The plot was ok? At this point, I don’t think Atiernan or his clan is strong enough to defeat the enemy.
Anyways, I look forward to Lana’s future work because she’s still one of my faves. I think I’ll pass on this series.
Fantastic start to a new series! Daemon’s Blood is a fantastic start to a new series. The enemies-to -lovers trope is my absolute favourite in the romance genre and I just adored the push and pull between the daemon lord Atiernan and the witch Miranda, not to mention the sexual tension and smoking hot scenes! The worldbuilding is well done, as is the supporting cast.
Miranda is a complex character – strong minded but fragile due to how she is regarded within her coven. The author does a brilliant job of portraying her emotions and how she aches for acceptance within her kind and her determination to thwart the demands of her captor.
Atiernan is equally complex and has his own reasons to despise those of Miranda’s ilk, as she does his. I enjoyed the complexities of his character too and how, as the book progresses, we learn snippets of his own tragic back story. Although dangerous to Miranda he is not the monster she expected, and they are drawn together even as they remain enemies. Yet can their tenuous bond survive when trust is in question and secrets abound? Powerful forces are at play, intent on destroying all that Atiernan holds dear, and he cannot let a witch stand between him and saving his people from the evil that threatens to destroy them.
There were so many twists and turns in the plot I was kept entertained throughout. The book ends on a number of revelations and a cliffhanger, and I cannot wait to read the second book in the duet which will conclude the couple’s story, not to mention other stories set within the world the author has created.
Please note, a copy of the book was given to me by the author and I am voluntarily leaving a fair and honest review.
I received an Advanced Reader Copy for an honest and voluntary review
WHEW!! The chemistry between Atiernan and Miranda lit my kindle on fire 🔥🔥🔥 With Atiernan, a Daemon, and Miranda, a witch, they’re supposed to be enemies. Yet, Atiernan can’t seem to get enough of Miranda’s blood, and both of them are very confused by their feelings for one another, BUT they can’t get enough of each other!! I loved all of the interactions and dialogue between Atiernan and Miranda 🖤 He’s so possessive and protective of her, and she wants him, but she is fighting for dear life against it. I also loved the wise Peony 🤩 Her character was extremely interesting!! I can’t wait for Book 2!! Miranda has been shunned and mistreated by her coven, but she doesn’t quite understand why. She knows her mother hates her, thinks she’s an abomination, and she doesn’t know who her father is. Miranda’s mother would make her do experiments and lock her in the dark. The Daemons are the witches enemies. Atiernan kidnaps Miranda from her coven. He wants her to help him save his people. Atiernan was hurt by a witch, he was in love with, a long time ago. Witches are his mortal enemies. However he can’t keep his mind off of his captive witch or resist her blood. Is there more to Miranda than meets the eye….. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK 💙🖤
The blood red haired Daemon will quickly captivate you and you’ll be anxiously flipping through the pages. Atiernan is the daemon lord who captures the witch Miranda Lightwood in hopes that she can help him figure out who is sending the attacks on his people. Miranda has her own dark secrets and past that Atiernan finds himself intrigued by and wanting to know more about the Witch. Miranda stands strong in her beliefs that the Daemon lord is the very definition of evil and helping him will make her more of a abomination then she already believes herself to be. Even though they absolutely do not trust each other their is a magnetic pull between the two of them. As they try to figure out who is behind everything they also learn more about each others past. I also loved Peony she is such a great character. I loved this story. I can not wait for the next installment to this story. Lana is one of my all time favorite writers and trust me you want to add Daemons Blood to your bookshelf. I need book two like yesterday. Thank you Lana for bringing us Atiernan and Miranda.
Daemon’s Blood is the first book in the Atiernan Book Daemon Blade Series.
Put together a beautiful good witch with a traumatic past with an ancient vampire who has been betrayed in the worse way, and you have nothing but hate and distrust. So we think.
Atiernan must find out not only who is sending monsters to kill his clan but how to destroy them as well. The only one that can save them seems to be Miranda the witch who has a scent and blood that seems to call to every cell in his body. The only problem is, can he trust her.
Miranda on the other hand can help him with her magic; however, in order to do that she would have to access blood magic which is a forbidden art and something that she is not willing to do at any cost.
This book is a slow burn and ends in a cliffhanger and like every book this author writes, I know the next book in the series will be fantastic.
Daemon's Blood is the first book in a new series by this author. Like all her other series, this one did not disappoint. I enjoy Ms. Sky's world building. Each paranormal universe she creates is different in its own way. In Daemon's Blood we have a mix of two paranormals: vampires and witches. The animosity and automatic distrust between Atiernan and Miranda, along with an undeniable chemistry, leads to many tense moments. There are a few steamy scenes but nothing overly sexual like in other books by this author. The slower buildup seems to fit well with Atiernan and Miranda though. I am looking forward to seeing what happens between these two and how they will work together to save his clan. I am also intrigued to find out more about Miranda and what Peony (Atiernan's right-hand woman) seems to know about her that we all don't. *I was gifted a copy and voluntarily chose to leave a review.
This was an exciting and awesome paranormal romance. It was about Miranda, a witch, and Atiernan, a demon lord. Miranda is kidnapped to help Atiernan and his people get rid of creatures that are extremely dangerous and sent there by magic. Although she has been taught to hate deamons, Miranda finds herself finding them more gentle and patient than she expected. She also finds that she is having desires for Atiernan that she shouldn't be. He is rough and demanding with her one second, then is decent and seems to want her the next. The ending of this book is sort of a cliff-hanger and I can't wait until the next book comes out to see what is going to happen. I definitely recommend this read to anyone who loves paranormal romance. I received a review copy of this book from the author and am leaving a voluntary honest review.
This is another one of Lana Sky's amazing stories. Tiny, good witch Miranda is up against Lord Daemon Atiernan when she is taken captive and put in a dark cell in Atiernan's castle/fortress. Atiernan needs her to find out who is out to destroy him. This is a tug of war between the two of them, he's demanding her to find the evil after him and she is determined not to help him. The attraction between the two is a constant battle in itself. Her entire life she's believed him to be the villainous creature, when in actuality he isn't. Besides being unbelievably handsome, he has a gentle side to him when he's around her, but in a minute, he can change and be a real tyrannical ass. I consumed the book waiting to see how these two were going to get together, how the evilness that is after him and the world was going to be defeated and guess what, you need to read this book.
This is the first book in the Daemon Blade series. Miranda is a witch that is being outlasted by her coven. Atiernan is a daemon lord that has someone or something determined to destroy his family and territory. The saying goes 'Trust is something that is earned'. But what comes first? Do you give it and take it away once it is broken? Or does it have to be earned first? Atiernan believes he needs a witch and so after some watching, he kidnaps Miranda. Both of these characters has started to put some pieces together, as timegoes by, neither one of them is what they seem. This is a continuous story and so it ends on a little bit of a cliffhanger. I look forward to more, enjoy!
I thought this was a really good start for Lana new paranormal series.. great intro to the characters and who doesn’t love magic.. we have Miranda who a witch but one that has a secret being kidnapped by the raeth daemon lord Atiernan because he believes she can help with some dark magic creatures The Sentinels who are attacking his people.. There no love lost between witches and daemons but Atiernan can’t stop things gonna to far not after he bites her.. after that things heats up and they come to a understanding.. action picks up close to the end just in time for a cliffhanger.. now I have to wait to find out everything and how Atiernan will act once’s he finds out Miranda secret!!!
Usually I see slow burn in a review and move on to another book. The reason is this usually means fillers and drawn out internal dialog rehashing the same thing over and over. That isn’t the case here. With her bewitching (pun intended) way with words, this slow burn wastes no words, doesn’t rehash over and over. Instead it fills the pages with rich opportunities to understand the characters and their interactions. I don’t read PNR unless it is the work of an author of a talent with words. That is why Ms. Sky is an author I spend my money on, regardless of what genre she chooses. I’m never sorry. Enjoy.
Great start to a new Paranormal Romance. Atiernan is a powerful daemon lord and when he is in need of a which he kidnaps Miranda. Miranda was taught to hate daemons and how evil they are, however she has a secret she is keeping. What will happen when the daemon’s aren’t what she thought and can she help discover who wants to destroy them? Fast-paced read with loads of drama, suspense and twists and turns. Great characters with lots of depth and sizzling chemistry. Looking forward to book two. I loved it.
Daemons Blood gripped my attention from the very first page. The daemon Atiernan takes the witch Miranda in hopes that she can understand and stop the setinals from attacking the daemons. Through this process their sexual tension grows and boy does it grow. There is so much bloodlust. There are twist and turns and deeply guarded secrets that will soon see the light of day and I just can’t wait to continue this series. It has me hooked!
I've recently gotten into the paranormal romance world and I can't believe I waited this long!!! Lana Sky has earned a new reader in me! This book starts off slow (as most books do to set the story) but it has enough intrigue to keep you wanting more. It does end in a cliffhanger but that adds to the mystery and will keep you coming back. The heat between the main characters is HOT and I can't wait for the burn!!!
Daemon’s Blood could be a fantastic start to a brand new series. The enemies-to-lovers trope is my absolute favorite within the romance genre and I just adored the push and pull between the daemon lord Atiernan and also the witch Miranda, to not mention the sexual tension and smoking hot scenes! The worldbuilding is well done, as is the supporting cast.
pleasing read with some nice, charged, steamy encounters. The world building isn’t as good as in the second one, and the development of Atiernan’s character is scarce. Overall the first two books rely heavily on romance tropes (Hades&Persephone, old mother figure/councillor person) but expand a lot in terms of plot, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I’m very interested in which direction the series goes.
This is the first book in the Daemon Blade series, a vampire paranormal slow-burn romance that will capture you for a few hours. The mystery and suspense behind the story are fantastic, it gives that thrill to try to figure out what is happening, making you read it non-stop. The characters are so well-developed, their interactions are entertaining and the chemistry was off the charts. Atiernan and Miranda will become your next paranormal obsession.
I was hooked from a few pages in, the tension in this book 🥵 I loved every second of interaction between the two main characters. It’s so hard to get the perfect blend of tension, spice and storyline but Lana managed to get this perfect. I was completely captivated from start to finish and can not wait for the next instalment ❤️❤️
Wow! Talk about feeling the tension! I’m a sucker for forbidden relationships and Lana did not disappoint. Miranda’s and Atiernan’s story is full of chemistry and you can could feel their fire from the beginning. I hate that I have to wait for the next book, I seriously can’t wait to see what’s next for them.
Wow, wow, wow. Book two sure packs a punch. What an exciting reading experience. This book has so much going on, but not in a confusing way, in an exciting, intriguing way. This is definitely a five star plus page turner, for sure. I highly recommend this series. I cannot wait for the next installment.
