I’m quite satisfied with how this series ended. It wasn’t exactly how I was expecting, but the way plot threads and character arcs especially were wrapped up was done in a uniquely… calm way, I guess you can say, which fits nicely with what I think was one of the major themes of this series — the people you meet and relationships you develop can lead you done some very unexpected paths, but in the end, it’s you who has ultimate control over the direction your life takes. We definitely saw that with Jusetsu, how her life kept expanding the more she intermingled with the others in the inner court, and while not all those experiences were positive, they clearly shaped the person and path she took in the end, but we also saw that in reverse, with her impacting others lives in various ways as well.
I said this before, but I really do appreciate the way Jusetsu and Koshun’s relationship ended up developing, all the way to the end. I think it’s a great portrayal of how some connections you make are beyond precious, and you want just want to treasure them the best way you know how (like, for example, through pigeon-mail Go correspondence). I’ll also admit I was a bit worried halfway through the book when we were still in the mountains with Ko and Jikei, but I should never have doubted the author’s prowess and intention — it all comes together to have a very gratifying resolution at the very end in how it ties together with Shin and his story, which was also very thought-provoking.
All in all, I say I rather enjoyed this series. While it has its weak points and points of criticism, not to mention the abysmal treatment it got in the editing and proofreading department, it was well worth the time invested. It wasn’t an epic tale of heroic bravery and adventure, but it did tell a very heart warming medley of how, given the chance, even connections wrought in the dead of the night in a place supposedly beyond anyone’s understanding or reach can shine a bright light on so many lives in a positive way.
The final book in this amazing series. How often do I give every book in a series 5 stars? Not very often, I can assure you. But this series definitely deserves it and it has become one of my favourites.
The writing is so good. It's a perfect blend between old-fashioned (because of the time period) and readable. The characters are all interesting and distinct, with very different personalities. Seeing them interact together is just so much fun.
This final volume is filled with action, and the final "battle" was incredible. I love how well this series connects everything in this final volume. Everything makes sense and even things you didn't know you wanted to have explained get explained and make the story better.
If I have to be nit-picky (and you know I'm going to be nit-picky), the epilogue was a bit too long in my opinion. While I liked how we read about everyone in it, I wish more of the time was spend focussing on Jyusetsu and her friends, rather than on other more minor characters. Jusetsu, Onkei, Juju and Koujun are my favourite characters in this series, so reading more about what happened to them afterwards instead of reading about Banka's brothers would have been preferable. I still liked reading about what happened to them too, I just wish the amount of detail/time spend on them was divided either more equally or more on Jyusetsu and friends, rather than the brothers.
This volume focuses too much on side characters and too little on main characters. I do not care care about other Saneme brothers besides Shin. I wanted to see more of Jujetsu and her staff. This volume also focused too little on Koshun and i also wanted to see more of him.

While I truly enjoyed the previous novels as well as the anime adaptation of raven of the inner palace. I must admit that this last one was a waste of time and money . First it was so slow at the beginning for the story to develope into the most important part ! Once we hit the climax of the story(or what should feel like a climax) it was tedious to read . It would take about two to three pages of scenery description only to have very few dialogue lines between characters . The story was all over the place and author focus too much on side character leaving the main characters forgotten. Then the ENDING! was very poorly developed . Fl ends up again forgotten as well as the ML. And we get about 5 pages about the lives of the villain’s children and how their future changed for better whereas we get 3 sentences about what happened to the main characters . The previous novels were more promising and I thought that while they lacked better story development and interesting events , the last novel could still have potential . Sadly I was mistaken . I don’t recommend reading this novel.

While I do like this series a lot, the last volume left me with mixed feelings. The build-up from the previous books led me to believe a grand finale is waiting in this one, but it’s not… grand. The book has three lengthy chapters, and yet so much of it was given to side characters who were only introduced fairly recently. Halfway through the book, I started questioning whose story this is supposed to be because both Jusetsu and Koshun got sidelined so hard to make room for Banka’s family. There are plenty of side characters who matter more to Jusetsu, and yet the story chose to focus on the Saname clan? It does link to Shin’s epilogue in a really nice way, but I don’t understand why the other brothers need to be highlighted too.
Shiki’s encounter with Hakurai was fine though. That part was nicely done, because it finally puts an end to Shiki’s unresolved issue that’s been going on for quite a while, and Shiki himself is also really involved in the main plot.
As for the finale itself, it does turn into a battle between the Raven and the ao god. It’s just the humans, including Jusetsu, are not a part of it. They are spectators, and the most they could do is influence external parties as to not interrupt the clash. They witness the brawl in the form of water and lightning going wild, but not the actual fight itself. What goes down between the Raven and the ao god, as well as the aftermath of their fight, is all reported by Ayura. I think it does fit the story and the writing style, but on the other hand, it’s mostly telling and very little showing. After all that build-up, personally I find it rather lacking.
That being said, I really liked the relationships Jusetsu has developed in the inner palace. Especially with Koshun. It’s a relationship that doesn’t really fit any label or category, but it’s undoubtedly precious and both parties are doing their best to cherish it. That’s why the ending is absolute perfection. It wraps up their story in a way that fits them completely, and it’s beautiful. Please play Go until the end of time.
She was sure that she’d be reminded of him every time she gazed out at those waters.
I must say, I do love this series, but I feel like this last book was something of anti-climatic.
Not every romance end in the way that we want and that is ok. We still had a kind cute ending. But that does not mean that I'm not disappointed. Still I'm sad to say goodbye to my dear Jusetsu but I know she will be always be waiting in the books
My guess with the ending was spot on! It was bittersweet. Still, I was hoping for them to end up together.. Nevertheless, I love the Final volume. The author managed to tie all loose ends and managed to give each character a fitting end. Im glad the saname siblings got their happy endings, They managed to escape their Father’s clutches. I just wished that jusetsu’s staff (lady-in-waiting, bodyguards) had their fair share of detailed ending as well- all that was said was They were with jusetsu until the end.
Honestly, im wondering How come this light novel didnt get the hype it deserves… I Like this better than My Happy Marriage (I think because theres not much or very little Love story in this)

It was a disappointing final of an otherwise good series.
Way too much time was wasted on side characters. Not enough time was spent on the main conflict resolution of the story. And the ending didn't feel like the natural conclusion of the narrative but something forced to achieve a bitter feeling.
All in all it was really anticlimactic and had me thinking why did I picked up the story in the first place.
While a bit short, and a bit rushed when it comes to the actual confrontation, I liked the final volume and ending to the series well enough. It did not fit expectations, but that is fine, this ending made sense even if I would also have liked it if the series to continue with short arcs much like the first 2 to 3 volumes. All in all, great series and a decent ending.
I am glad to see everyone get happy endings. The storyline was really amazing. I wish the ending for Jusetsu and Koshen were a little different, but given her heritage, it makes sense why they are not together in the end. That is my only disappointment with this story. The end really tied up all the loose ends.

I think it would have been nicer if we got more details of the fight between the Raven and the ao god, but as far as the human characters are concerned, I felt satisfied by their individual endings. And I love the relationship between Jusetsu and Koshun!
Weirdly more focused on the Saname clan than anyone else (I don't like any of them, so that was a let down). Almost no Koshun at all. Weird unsatisfactory epilogue-like ending.
I mean, even the gods' showdown wasn't super interesting.
I was really enjoying it… until the end. I suppose there was never going to be a way to have a fully satisfying ending for every character but I was just a bit underwhelmed with the main two's ending and some of the characters I'd loved from early in this series felt like they didn't get as much attention at the end. Like just the last chapter's second half didn't feel as top tier as the series had been.
(Apparently I lost all my highlights for this one which I'm annoyed about but that be life.)
