Best Vacation Ever

Rate this book
Two best friends, five hot guys, one dream vacation. What could possibly go wrong?

Lori is beautiful, smart, and athletic. The one thing she can’t do is speak up for she can’t stand up to a creepy guy at the gym, she can’t speak to her crush, and she certainly can’t tell her parents that she wants to take a year off to backpack around Europe rather than follow family tradition and go to med school. When her best friend, Faye, invites her on an all expenses paid, weeklong trip to a sunny destination with Faye’s brother, Adam, and four of his friends, she jumps at the chance to leave all her problems behind.

Faye is Lori’s opposite in a lot of ways―maybe that’s why they’re such good friends. In fact, the only problem in Faye’s life is that her brother hates her, and she’s hooking-up with his best friend, Kellan, behind his back. She can’t let Adam find out. as that’ll only make their relationship worse. At the same time, she doesn’t want a hook-up; she wants a real relationship with Kellan. This vacation is her chance to figure out if he’s in this for real or not.

When Faye hatches a scheme designed to make Kellan jealous, she drags everyone else into her drama―including Lori and her gym crush, who just happens to be on this trip too! Soon everyone is fighting with everyone else and relationships are being ripped apart as secrets are revealed. Going on the Best Vacation Ever may turn out to be the Worst Decision Ever.

This delightful, stand-alone novel from YA superstar Jessica Cunsolo deals with romance and friendship, but it’s also about learning to stand-up for yourself and be who you want to be.

I absolutely LOVED this book. It’s the perfect fun, summer read. It has all the fun, flirty, romance and drama vibes. I loved Lori and Faye as best friends in this book. They are opposites but also compliment each other perfectly. I loved how their friendship progressed and how the drama put pressure on it while also making them stronger at the same time. I love how they went on their own journeys of love and self discovery.

I absolutely love the character development and although I started off not liking Faye, by the end she was my favourite. I loved her growth and flaws, and it helps that she’s so hilarious! I also loved how Lori grew through the book and learned to stand up for herself and be who she wants to be. I also love how her romance arc ended.

If you want a fun book to distract you from life and a guaranteed good time, this is the book for you!

Description:

At the last minute, best friends Lori and Fayanna get to go on a trip of a lifetime to Cuba with Faye’s hot holder brother and his friends.
Lori is a people pleaser and does everything others expect her to, but when her parents push her to go to med school and ignore her request to take a year off to find herself and travel, she starts to crack. This vacation is exactly what she needs to escape, but when she finds herself the object of attention of Faye’s hot older brother Adam, and Dean, a jaw- droppingly handsome guy who definitely saved her life, she has no idea how to navigate the arising situations.
Faye is confident, speaks her mind, never gets embarrassed, and loves being the centre of attention. She loves the idea of getting to party in Cuba, especially since Kellan is coming, the guy who’s kinda sorta her friends with benefits, and who also happens to be her brothers best friend, who still doesn’t know about the two of them and would get incredibly pissed if he did. But soon emotions and jealousy gets involved, and this vacation is her chance to figure out if this relationship with Kellen is real or not.
Soon everyone is fighting with everyone else and relationships are being ripped apart as secrets are revealed.

Amazing story with memorable characters, internal conflict, and amazing character development.
Jumping between the 2 main characters really gives you varying perspectives on each situation and make you better connect to both while also being able to see things through their eyes.

The drama between friends and others outside the friend group had me hooked from the beginning and I could not stop reading.
I absolutely loved this book and highly recommend reading this series.

This ARC was amazing and I am so excited to see what happens next in this series and cannot wait!

I got a copy of the arc so I could give an honest review. I absolutely love the drama between the characters and all of the mischief they get into.

This book was so mid. I thought it was going to be a cute ya summer read (it was in the ya section of my book store) And it was? i’m not sure. There was no smut but so much talk about it and swear words. Like pick a side. This book would probably be good for like older teens who have dirty minds but don’t like to read about smut? I honestly don’t know anyone who this applys to but 🤷‍♀️

This is my book, so of course I love it and rate it 5 stars lol! It's a perfect fast summer read, when you just want to relax and clear your mind for a bit, while having some fun and enjoying some drama. But this story isn’t just a fun, wild, drama and romance filled ride (though it totally is). It’s also about friendship, family, self growth, self love, and finding yourself. Overall, I love this book and had so much fun with it, so I hope you have the 'best time ever' reading 'Best Vacation Ever'! <3

☀️best vacation ever arc review☀️

5/5 stars
- dual pov
- fun and quick summer read
- character and relationship driven
- minor love triangle
- SO. MUCH. DRAMA.
- insanely addictive
- platonic, romantic, and sibling relationships

this book gave me all the feels. i got attached to these characters very quickly and easily. the entire friend group really portrayed a typical friend group so well. there was dylan being the mother of the group. adam being the grumpy friend, and kellan being the funny one. faye and lori’s friendship was obviously everything. their friendship experienced so much growth, as they themselves experienced a lot change.

lori’s character development was especially meaningful to me, since i find her to be so relatable. the way her confidence grew throughout the book and the fact that she had people supporting her while she was doing that was very comforting to see.

in some ways, i also see myself in faye. she inevitably hurts the people she cares about, but she has good intentions. she’s misunderstood, which leads to her complicating all of her relationships; whether they are platonic, romantic, or familial. watching her navigate through her struggles was oddly reassuring for me.

every character is really just the epitome of a young adult trying to figure out life as it goes. whether i would agree with their choices or not, i just know that they are relatable in some way.

the summer vibes in this book were just immaculate. there was so much happening, and it felt like the drama was never-ending in the best way. also i just have to say: kellan and faye <333. i love them so much. i had the best time ever reading best vacation ever!!

thank you to Jessica Cunsolo for this arc!!

3.5 stars, rounded up

Told in dual perspective, this book follows Lori and Faye, best friends who are tagging along on Faye’s brother’s “boy’s trip” to Cuba to celebrate the end of the school year. Both Lori and Faye deal with issues in their friendship and some boy troubles during their Cuban vacation.

I really liked the emphasis on the friendship between Lori and Faye. They had issues with each other but at the end of the day they were always there for each other. I preferred Lori as a character to Faye, but the two of them did balance each other out nicely.

I have to say, I really liked the way the book ended. I thought it was very fitting and I wasn’t expecting it at all.

I thought there was a bit too much drinking for my personal tastes, but this was overall a cute YA contemporary.

I LOVE JESSICA CUNSOLO'S WAY OF WRITING

It's been a long time since I had a decent read, until Jessica arrived with this new installment.

•Contains•

-Summer Love.
-Brother's best friend.
-Dual POV.
-Gym crush
-Friends to lovers.
-Character development.
-Healthy romance.
-Drama.

Best Vacation Ever is a book that screams summer everywhere, that makes you spend a while entertaining and it is no surprise because this work has the perfect dose of friendship, love, humor, self discovery, among other things that makes it very enjoyable and the reading goes by very quickly, I read it in one day.

A very beautiful story with an important message that all lovers of romance and self-discovery should read. Besides that the love interests are *chef kiss*

The characters are simply touching because Jessica shows us the humanity they possess, they all have mistakes, but also successes, which makes you identify with them very easily.
Personally, I felt Lori's character was closest to me and I already came to the conclusion that she is one of my favorite characters in life.

I have to admit, I thought the book was going to head in a completely different direction than how it happened, but that wasn't a bad thing! On the contrary, I was delighted that it exceeded my expectations. As someone who has read Jessica before, I have to say that it is somewhat different from what she has previously written and I'm very happy to see that with each new book she gets better and better.

Best Vacation Ever will be available starting June 20th and you can pre-order it now!

My first DNF <3

Books like this give me confidence in my own writing skills. The fact that I couldn’t even make it through chapter 2 is impressive. I’m glad I this cost me absolutely nothing since I found it in front of a coffee shop, because I would never be able to justify paying money for this.
At least now I can say that I’ve read a Wattpad book.

Thank you to NetGalley and Wattpad Books for sending me an eARC of this book!

Some of my favorite quotes/moments:

- "I didn't make you do anything. You did it because you wanted to."
- "I'll grab your makeup wipes. I know you hate sleeping with makeup on
- He scans my face and must see the sheer desperation there, because he relents and steps into the small bathroom, drawing an imaginary zipper over his lips and giving me a wink.

Review:
The main word that comes to mind when I think of this book is FUN!! Like I have had so much trouble this spring semester with getting through complex books but this one really made me feel the most immersed by being short and sweet. I loved the plot, the setting, and the conflicts were just the right amount of messy!

Right off the back the diverse cast was so appealing to me, I don’t remember there being much description said about some of the cast in the original wattpad version but I found myself connecting with them more when their ethnic backgrounds were explicitly stated. My favorite characters were obviously Lori and Faye (I usually hate dual POV’s but the situations they both get into will not leave you disappointed because of how hilarious they are). And the side characters that stood out the most to me were Naomi (I wanna be her when I grow up) and Dylan (he was so big brother coded but like I’m a cool way) even though all the characters no matter how small their role was were interestingly used in the story.

*Adam reminded me in some moment of Aiden Parker and I thought that was so funny*

Loved the development of the girls over the vacation because it didn’t feel rushed, and the pacing was done well enough that so many small instances made the climax hit harder. That checklist pool party was crazy when everything started going downhill. One thing about Miss Jessica is that she KNOWS how to write a party scene!!

Speaking of the author I’ve always admired how her writing style leaves readers so captivated. I started reading her work with the ‘With Me’ series in middle school and I love how I can form a connection with her YA novels when I’m in college now. Another thing I love is how she utilized her own experience with traveling to Cuba in real life and channeled that into such unique experiences for her characters in the book that made it so the stuff they were doing felt completely authentic.

The only thing I was hoping for was a cameo from any of the characters from the ‘With Me’ series (I think it’s fun to think the characters from an author all exist in one universe lol). Regardless of that though Best Vacation Ever got me in the mood for summer and is definitely one of my new comfort reads that's for sure!!

It was a fun quick read, some of the themes got a little repetitive at times, but the characters did have great growth, I thought the last Terry scene felt kinda thrown together tbh, at times it felt like there were too many characters to keep up w. I liked the back and forth between lori and faye povs at the same settings that was interesting. Overall i enjoyed it

I actually really liked this book, i was actually rooting for Lori and Adam because i love unrequited love tropes, but nonetheless i also really loved Lori and the gym guy (i forgot his name) and i love the character development Lori had throughout this book. Faye just seemed childish to me but i also love how her love story played out.

What a great book! I enojoyed this book more than her previous works. By far, it's my favorite! Literally finished it one sitting.

A vibrant YA romance that follows two best friends, Lori and Faye, on a sun-soaked getaway that quickly turns into a whirlwind of drama and self-discovery.

Lori is athletic, smart, and beautiful—but she struggles with confidence and speaking up for herself. When Faye invites her on an all-expenses-paid trip to Cuba with Faye’s brother, Adam, and his friends—including Lori’s gym crush, Dean—Lori jumps at the chance to escape her everyday life.

Faye, on the other hand, is outgoing and bold. She’s secretly hooking up with Adam’s best friend, Kellan, and wants to turn their fling into something real. But when she tries to make Kellan jealous, the plan backfires, pulling everyone into a tangled mess of secrets, misunderstandings, and shifting relationships.

Told from alternating perspectives, the novel explores themes of friendship, romance, and finding the courage to be yourself. It’s a breezy, drama-filled read perfect for fans of contemporary YA fiction.

*I was sent an arc in exchange for an honest review*

Thank you so much Jessica for sending me this arc! I was so excited to read this and let me just say it did not disappoint!! Jessica never ceases to amaze me! I’ve enjoyed every one of her books so much and Best Vacation Ever was no different. This was such a fun read and was even more enjoyable reading it now as it’s getting warmer where I live. The vacation vibes were so much fun and I enjoyed the story so much. Adding to the fact that it’s the perfect summer read, I also found it to be relatable in some ways. It touches on things that I’ve personally experienced or have felt and it made me feel seen. Every time Lori talked about something she experienced I was always finding myself saying me too. And the growth her character went through was inspiring and I found myself constantly rooting for her. Faye’s growth from beginning to end was also really great, it showed her bettering her relationships and herself while realizing things about herself. It’s one thing to enjoy a story but it’s another to be able to connect with the characters as well. Jessica’s books have always been so easy to connect with the characters and feel what they’re feeling whether you agree or disagree with some of the things they do, you still find yourself involved, and sucked in by the story. Not to mention the romance in this book was exciting, it had me at the edge of my seat and I couldn’t wait to see what happened next. I also loved the whole dynamic of the characters and seeing them grow and move past obstacles that had been restricting them or coming to terms with some truths they may not have realized before. Some of these scenes also had me laughing out loud. They were hilarious. I honestly don’t remember the last time I laughed out loud when reading, it was refreshing. This book made me feel like I was there, seeing what these characters were seeing feeling what they were, I was apart of it. Theres so much more I can say so to sum it up, all I can say is read this immediately when it comes out, you will not be disappointed. Here’s a little background to intrigue you: Lori and Faye two best friends get to attend a trip with Faye’s brother and friends and we see the events of what happens during the days they are there. We get drama, excitement and oh so cute moments. I felt captivated from start to end. This is a perfect summer read so I definitely recommend picking it up even in the winter because it’ll definitely make you feel like you’re reliving the summertime vicariously through Lori, Faye and friends.

Any Jess book is so good this is another fav.

I love this friend group, Lori turned into such a badass and Faye did self reflection and I’m so glad she ended up with Kellan.

It starts off where Lori and Faye go to Cuba for vacation with Faye’s brother, Adam, and his friends Dylan, Kellan, Alessio, and Dean. Faye thinks adam hates her after what happened with his best friend Zach and things haven’t been the same. On vacation they meet three girls, Kiara, Priyasha, and Anaya. Kiara tries to get with Kellan, Priyasha hooked up with Alessio ( who is in a 5 year long relationship with Olivia ) and Anaya is just a good friend. Lori meets Naomi ( the girl she was admiring at a party because of her confidence and noticed she was drowning in a pool so she saved her ) and she ended up giving her some good confidence and advice along with Dean telling Lori to explore more.

Faye and Kellan secretly hook up behind Adam’s back since after Faye dated Adam’s best friend and things went south, she kept Kellan a secret from him. Throughout the book Faye makes a plan with Dylan saying how she’s going to make him jealous so he’ll want her. This took a shit and Faye ended up sabotaging her friendship with Lori by not spending a lot of time with her, she also hated Kiara because her and Kellan were hitting it off so she was jealous of her, and then she had a rocky relationship with her brother Adam because she was hiding seeing Kellan behind his back and it eventually caused tension with her and Kellan. At the parties she’d be preoccupied trying to get his attention or finding random guys to try to make him jealous but nothing worked. Eventually she confessed to Kellan that she loves him and things worked out and her friendship was rekindled with Lori. She reflected because everyone said she was being self absorbed and only thinking of herself in situations. Eventually she confessed to Adam that she was with his best friend, and opened up asking why Adam hates her and that he hasn’t been the best brother. They resolved things and I’m proud of her character development. I loved her tension and relationship with Kellan and her friendship with Dylan being there for her.

Lori is such a badass. She started off being super shy and ran into Dean at the gym and made a fool of herself. She realized at the airport with Faye that he was coming along on the trip with them. On vacation Faye kept giving her a push to talk to him and things worked out. As her best friend was preoccupied in the room with Kellan, she started being friends with the boys and hanging out with them and having a blast. I loved loved loved how comfortable she got with them and how she was a girls girl becoming friends with Anaya, Kiara and priyasha, and how she was friends with Niaomi. Dean really helped her gain confidence and find what she wanted to do unlike Adam suddenly confessing he liked her only for her innocence and basically called her boring but Dean brought a new side out in her. She started having fun at the parties, carried the boys back when they were drunk, had shots with Dylan, Adam and Dean, and ignored her mom messaging her about med school.

Overall I loved the scenery in this book, both Povs are so good. Lori gained confidence and Faye made amends with her brother and got her boy.

Fav parts:

- the chicken fight at the foam neon party ( pg 98 )
- Dylan and Adam getting super drunk at the pool and Dean and Lori carrying them back ( pg 111 )
- the cave club where Lori saw Faye “ flirting “ with Dean and she left, and then Adam went after her. Faye was really fucked up and threw up in the club bathroom and Kiara helped her
- Lori kicked out of her room because Faye and K were fucking and Adam came to check on her
- the white t shirt dare party, the checklist off the shirt and dares
- Lori walking in to Adam’s room after she kissed him to distract him from walking in on Faye and then she caught Alessio cheating
- Kellan confessing he loved Faye for years but he thought she only wanted hook ups

Overall I loved this book, I liked it a bit more than best summer ever, but it was so good

I chose to acquire this book due to its intriguing plot. Additionally, it offers a unique portrayal of travel to Cuba within the young adult fiction genre.

Lori is beautiful, smart, and athletic. But she can’t speak or stand up for herself against a creepy guy at the gym. She also can’t tell her parents she wants to take a year off to backpack around Europe rather than go to med school. When her best friend, Faye, invites her on a weeklong trip to Cuba with her, her brother Adam, and four of his friends, she jumps at the chance. Faye is Lori’s opposite. Maybe that’s why they’re such good friends. Faye’s brother hates her, and she likes his best friend, Kellan, but wants to keep it a secret. When she hatches a scheme to make Kellan jealous, she drags everyone else into her drama—including Lori and her gym crush, who happens to be on this trip too! Soon everyone is fighting with everyone else relationships are being ripped apart and secrets are revealed.

I valued the portrayal of the friendship between Lori and Faye, particularly the contrast between Lori's quiet and reserved nature and Faye's vibrant and promiscuous personality. Despite their differences, they managed to maintain a strong and supportive friendship. Additionally, I appreciated the character of Dean, who is Lori's love interest, and the complex dynamic that existed between Faye and her overbearing older brother, Adam. The resolution of Faye and Adam's relationship at the end was a positive development.

I found the promiscuous parts of the book less enjoyable due to content that I did not connect with. Additionally, there were aspects of a character, Alessio, that I did not favor, but I am unable to elaborate further without divulging spoilers.

Overall, this book is a well-crafted young adult romance suitable for leisurely reading, with an engaging beach vacation backdrop. It is worth noting that due to some mature thematic content, I would suggest this book for older teenage readers.

I really enjoyed this dual POV following one week in Cuba shared by to extremely opposite best friends. Lori is a gorgeous, guarded good girl and her best friend Faye (Fayanna) is a flirty, feisty fireball. These two have been loyal friends since childhood and shared many memorable moments together. Now they are ready for the time of their lives as they unexpectedly find themselves invited along on the boys trip planned by Faye's brother Adam. One condition, make yourself scarce and stay out of the way of his good time.

This book is filled with surprises (is that Lori's crush amongst the group of guys), secrets (flirty Faye has been doing a little more with her bro's best friend) and plenty of party time shenanigans. I loved the well developed personalities of these two young ladies. As cliche as they sound on paper these to a far from one dimensional. Each has a fair amount of depth, growth and evolution as they party their way through the week.

Best Vacation Ever is fast paced, full of mayhem and had me laughing hysterically. This is the type of book that has a real time feel to it. It brings me back to that time of youth when you're trying to find your own voice and place in the world. The characters were very relatable as I could picture my real life friends in place of these fictional ones.

Sometimes you need a light read that just takes you back to the days of being young without all the responsibilities of adulthood. Jessica Cunsolo did an excellent job delivering a refreshing, yet adventurous read. I'm grateful to NetGalley and the publisher Wattpad Books for providing me with an ARC. I am leaving my review here voluntarily.
