Shh... Dads Reading as Larry reviews Find Your Freedom by Jamie Hopkins and Ron Carson
"Find Your Freedom is a must-read for anyone who is looking to live their best life and do it by design and not default. The phrase Find Your Freedom means many different things to different people and gets you thinking about what freedom means to you. When most people see a book that covers the topic of financial planning they immediately think of things like budgeting, investing and retirement. This book spends the majority of the pages concentrating on helping you define what freedom means to you and using that as the North Star for all the planning you do. You really cannot budget, invest or plan for retirement properly if you do not why or what you are doing it for, the end goal is to Find Your Freedom.
Jamie and Ron present these topics which many times are confusing and complicated in an easy-to-understand and thought-provoking way. Financial planning for your future has many interrelated areas and concepts that need to be addressed during one’s life and without a thorough understanding of your goals, it complicates things even further. Having clarity around what Freedom means to you will make the planning easier to accomplish and far more meaningful as a result too.
Reading Find Your Freedom has energized me to think more about what Freedom means to me and also spend more time with the families we serve in helping them work towards understanding what Freedom means to them.”

🥀The book "Find Your Freedom: Financial Planning for a Life on Purpose" is penned by the author Jamie P Hopkins and Ron Carson. This book is specifically penned about personal finance and retirement planning. Through this book, the author provides you with the best methods to analyse your past relationships with money and comprehend how both of those mould your way ahead.
🥀This book wraps up the topic of how to establish an actual monetary blueprint that encircles all the significant characteristics of your life. For many of us, speculating about our personal finances and financially planning of future is difficult to discuss because it is a complicated issue to understand and communicate about.
🥀So they provided us with an easy and reliable way to do it. This book takes unapproachable content and makes it easy to approach. It has clarified each and everything with proper satisfactory criteria. This book has great insight and advice he accomplished through his own understanding of this field.
🥀It has delivered the properest approach according to their viewpoint. The book is very versatile and very enlightening. I would suggest this book to all readers, particularly to readers who are willing to plan their successful and stable financial future ahead.
The book encourages you to work towards your financial plan from now only so that you’ll be prepared for any uncertainties that life throws on you. Building a system of financial stability is crucial so that you don’t struggle financial when the time is tough.
The book guides you in finding the right path for yourself that is aligned with your values and what you actually want to accomplish in life. To take ownership over your financial life and help you gain a better understanding of your core emotional ties to money.
‘Key takeaways’ are mentioned after each chapter. It’s very useful as it summarizes the important points covered in the chapter. Reflection questions are also mentioned that helps you in gaining understanding about yourself. To encourage you to think more about what you’ve read.
The book will change the way you think about money.
Find Your Freedom was an accidental find, shared by a book club admin. I have found no mention of it in popular social media.
Coming from a financial planner, I thought the book will be a bland read... full of technical jargons. There are a few for sure, but nothing that an average working American won't know about.
Also, I presumed it to be something promotional. You know, those books which someone publishes just to talk about their work and clients. It's nothing as such.
The book doesn't only talk about the theories and financial planning practices. It also motivates you to put a step forward toward your financial freedom. It doesn't actively preach about following any one way or the other. It just gives you a good introductory guidance about the different tools available to handle (and save) your money.
At 300+ pages, it's not a breezy read for sure. It, however, is an easy read. The book explains all financial concepts through examples (and some numbers) to make sense of the stuff. It does take some time and patience, though.
Although the content is relevant mostly to an American citizen, you can replicate most of the ideas for your region, too.
It's a must-read for anyone planning to find a way to a peaceful retirement (and death).
There is a lot of good information in here, but you need to work your way through wordy chapters to get to it. If you are looking for DIY instructions to managing money, you won't find it here either.
This book is focused on the philosophy behind money management, and Jamie Hopkins gives us much food for thought. However, Find Your Freedom seems to be less about crafting your own financial plan and more focused on getting people to see the value in bringing in a professional to help.
Ron and Jamie have so much knowledge of the industry that to call them personal finance experts is a massive understatement. The wealth of foundational knowledge in the book is great to get anyone started on the right path, but the way in which they talk about the importance of *planning* your future (and really dive into the details) is the true insight that can help anyone.
How do your first money memories shape your views on money as an adult? More than I ever realized. So much of how we think about debt, saving, and planning is tied up in these past experiences. This book guides readers down a path to reflect, not on the amount of money you should have saved for retirement, but on a path to reflect on what you want that future to look like - your goals, aspirations, the impact you want to have. Do you want to travel, volunteer, leave a legacy for your children? Knowing the answers can help pave the way for developing a financial plan that get you there. This is like no other financial planning book out there.
Very useful. One of the only book that covers real financial planning and not just basic budgeting and personal finance fundamentals. Great read for people who are serious about living a life by desig.
3.5. Solid introduction to the practice and basis of financial planning. Whereas many books of this nature focus on the technicalities at the expense of the "why," Hopkins does the opposite. I do wish his discussion of the tools and techniques of planning was a bit more expansive.
