Her father, Ooshima Yasuichi, mother, Kawashima Reiko, and younger sister, Mishima Yayoi, are all manga artists as well. In her autobiographical work Manga Kazoku she describes what it feels like to grow up in such a unique family. Her cousin, Kobayashi Ana, is a standup comedian.
I don't take these books too seriously, as I believe that is the author's intention. It's funny, charming, and features way too many underwear shots. I read these back in middle school and I'm currently borrowing them from the same friend who introduced them to me in the first place. It's silly and all these girls are so strange.
