Enter the world of Jeong Si-eun. A choose-your-own-adventure story with meaningful choices, multiple endings, costumes to design, and other interactive features. Hosted via the Time Princess app owned by IGG Inc.
Jeong Si-eun may be a top-notch cellist, but she runs into a musical crisis on her first day at the Chaminade International Conservatory of Music!
Time Princess (formerly Dress Up Time Princess) takes players on a journey through time to play out the lives of women throughout history, literature, and other fantastical worlds.
(Note: Please do not add new book listings for individual chapters within a story. Only the full story or side story should have a listing.)
A beautiful story of healing and love, allowing Si-eun to be angry and difficult in the first chapter was so refreshing from the other MCs.
Seung-chan is no doubt one of the best LIs in the whole game, and having a kind - loyal guy after the past books was needed haha. (Ghost Manor doesn't exist).
A very short story where the characters are allowed to grow, sometimes the simple books are the best ones.
Watch out, there are spoilers in this review! Plot Summary
Spring Sonata is a modern story set in South Korea, following our protagonist, Jeong Si-eun. She’s a top-notch cellist at her music school, who hopes to make her mother proud by being number one in the whole cellist program. While Jeong Si-eun starts off as pretentious and unlikable, she does go through a character arc that results in her understanding music better and being nicer to the people around her. I would categorize this as a slice-of-life story, with the added bonus of learning about different musical pieces. Considering that the most recent stories (Cat and Dog Affair, Mirror of Masks) were mystery books, this was a welcome read. The only negative thing I have to add about this book would be that it’s a linear story with only one main ending, leaving little room for replayability.
Companions
There are two companions in this two chapter story: Lee Seung-chan and Park Yoon-ah.
Lee Seung-chan is the only love interest in this story, and doesn’t have much chemistry with Jeong Si-eun. Si-eun is extremely rude to him throughout the whole book, yet he still likes her? He also doesn’t have any defined personal goals, with his sole goal being: help Si-eun how to infuse emotion into her music.
On the other hand, Park Yoon-ah is a much more interesting character. She’s a girl who comes from a poor family, but is working hard to be a good cello player to prove to her parents that she can make a career out of music.
Fashion
The sets in this book are all very pretty. All of them have music elements infused into them, and there’s a cello handheld!
This story was a breath of fresh air in the Time Princess archives. It was refreshingly simple in a way that let the emotions and characters really shine. The dialogue was very well done, the choices felt very meaningful, and the emotional beats felt very solid. I loved that this story didn't feel like it relied on any choose-your-own-adventure gimmicks. It felt like a very thought-out story where you could make your own choices.
It was especially meaningful to me as someone who played Violin for many years. This was the fastest I've read a Time Princess book, and it was because I simply couldn't put it down.
I'm a sucker for a goof Korean Drama and this was exactly that. The main character grows a lot in this story, finding friendships, inspiration, how to truly express herself and love.
