Narration Type: Dual Narration

The heroine: Serenity (a.k.a. Ren) - she had lived on the streets for years, but was done with that life. On her 21st birthday, she goes to a bar for a drink, opening and closing the locket she was given by her mother the last time she saw her. When her mother told her to never take it off and to keep it closed until her 21st birthday. She didn’t know what her mother meant, she figured her mom would know when she opened it and come find her, but nothing happened.

The Heroes: West, Nate, Aaron, Marco - West is a wolf shifter and has auburn hair with strands of silver and forest green eyes. Nate is a bear shifter with a buff, brawny chest, dark brown eyes, rich chestnut hair. Marco is a jaguar shifter with blue eyes, spiky black hair and a sexy scar through his eyebrow. Aaron is an eagle shifter with broad shoulders, strong jaw, and pale blonde hair.

The Story: Ren was in the bar drinking her birthday away, waiting for her friend Kylie to show up, when guys started to hit on her like nobody’s business which wasn’t the usual for her, so she went to the bathroom and when she came out someone knocked her out and kidnapped her. She meets the guys and we find out she doesn’t remember much of her childhood and her mom disappeared when she was fourteen years old.

The guys tell her that they used to know her when she was young, that her mother suppressed her memories. They tell her that they are the alpha shifters from four different groups and she is a shifter as well. She is the last dragon shifter and they are her mates. Ren and her friend Kylie are first skeptical of the story but accept it pretty easily.

The story was good, this book centered around Ren trying to recover her memories and figure out how to shift into a dragon. However, I did find my mind wandering at times, then I missed parts and had to go back over a few parts. I don’t know if it was just my state of mind, possibly I have read too many similar books lately and am getting tired of it, or it might have been the story. So I am giving this book a lower rating.

This book was told in multiple points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Felicity Munroe and Joe Arden. I have listened to many books that Felicity has narrated, and I like her voice and her style. Joe Arden has a sexy gravelly voice which is very pleasant and works for just about any romantic Hero. So overall the narration was great, though I have to say I like it better when there is a different narrator for each of the main characters, as it was, it was sometimes hard to tell who was talking at any given time.

Narration Type: Dual Narration

The heroine: Serenity (a.k.a. Ren) - when she was young, most of her family were murdered. Ren and her mother escaped and lived on the run until she was fourteen and her mother left her under mysterious circumstances. She lived on the streets until moving in with her friend Kylie at age 20, and on her 21st birthday she found out she was a dragon shifter and started recovering memories from her past.

The Heroes: West, Nate, Aaron, Marco - West is an exceptionally grumpy wolf shifter. Nate is a big, burly bear shifter. Marco is a handsome and earnest jaguar shifter. Aaron is a hot and romantic eagle shifter. They are the alphas of their pack and are Ren’s mates.

The Story: The group is trying to find clues to Ren’s past, especially since rogue shifters are trying to kill them. They need to follow clues that Ren’s mother left and find out why her family was killed and why they want her dead as well.

I liked the fact that Ren is a kleptomaniac, it is always nice when the heroine has some character flaw that makes her unique, and this was a new one. I liked that when she would get nervous, her fingers would start to tingle and she felt the urge to steal something. She was a very likable character and had a good back story.

Much of this story was about the group following her mother’s clues to find some sort of power that her mother wanted for her. They had to travel up a mountain, camping in the forest and in caves. I liked the fact that they were getting to know each other on a journey like this. Plus, the fact that they found the answers they were looking for.

This book was told in multiple points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Felicity Munroe and Joe Arden. I really like both of these narrators and they do a terrific job. Though twice as many chapters were in Ren’s point of view than all of the guys put together. I guess I wish we would have heard more from each of the men. Also, I wish there were a separate male narrator for each of the guys.

Narration Type: Dual Narration

The heroine: Serenity (a.k.a. Ren) - she is a dragon shifter who thought she was human for most of her life. Now she has new abilities and power and is expected to mate with four alpha male shifters in order to bring peace to the shifter world. Though nothing is as easy as it seems, especially the idea of being with multiple men when she was brought up as a human. She has bonded with all four men, but so far has only mated two of them.

The Heroes: West, Nate, Aaron, Marco - West is an angry wolf shifter who has held a grudge against Ren for not being there for the last sixteen years. Nate is a huge mountain of a man and a bear shifter who just wants to protect Ren. Aaron is a sweet and loving eagle shifter who knew what he wanted from the start. And Marco is a feisty jaguar shifter who has a lot of pride.

The Story: The group of them had gone on a dangerous trek to find out what happened to Ren’s mother and get the power that she had been after when she disappeared. They were attacked more than once along the way and after by rogue shifters and fae. Possibly the same ones that killed Ren’s mother and the rest of her family. However, they have been holding their own and even better all along. Now they must go on to the bear shifter’s territory.

Like the first two books this one had a lot of action. I liked that there was more action and dialogue than steamy scenes as sometimes these reverse harem romances get a bit too smutty. There was a lot of strategy around finding out what the rogue shifters were up to and more than one of the guys found out there were traitors in their ranks. The story was interesting and the romance between Ren and each of her guys was more than just smut for the sake of smut. There were actually different relationships between her and each guy.

This book was told in multiple points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Felicity Munroe and Joe Arden. I really like both of these narrators a lot. They both have terrific voices and are awesome narrators. I can’t say enough about Felicity’s New Joysey accent when she does the voice of Ren’s friend Kylie. Though like I said in my last review, I would like to hear more from each of the men’s points of view.

Narration Type: Dual Narration

The heroine: Serenity (a.k.a. Ren) - she is a dragon shifter with four alpha mates, who is just learning her place in the shifter world. She has special powers in addition to being able to shift into the only dragon in existence. She is fully mated to three of her four mates while the last one is still deciding what he really wants.

The Heroes: West, Nate, Aaron, Marco - West is a wolf shifter and is the one that is still deciding if he wants to be mated to Ren. He wants to do what is best for his pack. Nate is a grizzly bear shifter and is big and gentle. Aaron is an eagle shifter and is smart and honest. Marco is a panther shifter and is cocky yet honorable. He has had to fight many challenges to keep his alpha status.

The Story: Through the first three books, Ren and her alpha’s have fought many obstacles, including a mountain trek to get her power and find out what happened to her family. A tense meeting with the fae to make sure the fae punished those who killed her mother and plotted against her and kept the truce with the shifters, and many attacks by a group of rogue shifters who want to change the way things are done in the shifter world which includes killing the last dragon shifter, like they killed Ren’s fathers and sisters.

In this book the group faces both new and old foe’s when the vampires start working with the rogue shifters to go after the clans of shifters because they want the dragon shifter dead and the clans weak. I was going to give this book three stars because I do think that this series was a book too long, though there was so much going on in this book that I did enjoy it. I think the two middle books could have been made into just one. I wish more 4 book series would just be trilogies instead. I will give this one four stars, because the action was good and I liked the drama between Ren and West and how it all came together.

This book, like the first three, was told in multiple points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Felicity Munroe and Joe Arden. I love both of these narrators and wish this was done in duet narration with different narrators for each of the alphas. Though it was a fine listen even without that.

Shifters!

So shifters but like all rolled into one and bring in fae and vampires- oh my! The story instantly grabs as Ren is 21 and is left by her mother when she was 14 and believes that she died after going on a job. After opening a locket that was left for her by her mother she is kidnapped and brought to a shifters home- who is her mate?! Ok can’t give away but loved it!

Eva has an amazing, creative mind which translates into intriguing, facinating worlds. I was immediately dragged into the storyline and fell for the characters.

Book#1: Dragon's Guard grabbed my attention from the start. I appreciate Ren's uncertainty and struggle to find herself and her full potential. While this is a reverse harem story, it is not, at this point anyway in Book 1, centered around that. Sure it is a part as they learn more about each other and their growing relationships, but the plot is not lost amongst it. And while they all seem awesome, I think I'm leaning more to the grumpy wolf as my favorite. We'll see!

Book#2: Dragon's Tears carries on with Ren's journey into her new life learning about her abilities as a dragon shifter, learning more about her mates, and her role in these shifter communities. She's still getting the hang of what she can do, and her gorgeous men are there to help her. But I like that she has a mind of her own, somewhat of a temper so she's not afraid of confrontations with these new beings she meets, and won't even take guff from her men! As Ren continues on her journey, the reader is right there learning more about the men and their lives and the secrets they harbor.

Book#3-Dragon's Desire: So the story continues...Ren is finally coming to terms with her power and place in the kin world. She is steadily embracing her dragon side and, with it, learning more about and falling more for her hunky Alphas. The Alphas, in turn, are learning how their blossoming relationship with their mate is to impact them, and their kin - all while also dealing with each other and the rogue attacks! Can't wait for the next installment and meeting West's kin
!
Book#4: Dragon's Fate - I loved it! The reader finally gets a piece of West (he has always been my favorite!). One thing I enjoyed about this series is that, while being a reverse harem, it does not dwell on that part of their relationship. Oh, don't get me wrong, these guys bring the heat! But their relationship only enhances the experiences and dangers they face while learning to work and live together. The storyline is solid and keeps you on the edge of your seat. I thought the author does a great job of closing the circle to bring about their final fates. Well done!

Book#5: Dragon's Joy is just that. Ren and her men have gone through so much together and now it's time to celebrate - their love, their lives, the unity of their kin, the soon to be birth of their child. What better time than Christmas. Yep. It's a quick Christmas story and the perfect sweet conclusion and look into their future and HEA.

I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review

This was a great series!! I don't think I would have liked it so much without reading it all together as one book. The characters all grow throughout the books.

Rating: ⭐ 2.25/5

This was a box set so I'm just going to write this review on the whole series.

This book was okay. This was a sorta fun read. Would I read it again? Nope, definitely not.

The book series is a fast paced Reverse Harem Romance that incorporates shifters, fae, and vampires.

I honestly felt like everything in this book was not thought out thoroughly. I was left with many unanswered questions and there were many things that were not explained.

Our main character, Serenity, or Ren for short, has gone her whole life thinking she is a regular human but, surprise, she is not. Ren is the last of the dragon shifters. Here is actually one problem I had. So, she is the last of the dragon shifters...didn't she have any aunts, uncles, great great aunts or second cousins? That was a bit confusing. Honestly, I needed a bit more world building.

Anyway, Ren finds out about 2 chapters in that she is a dragon shifter from a jaguar shifter named Marco who is alpha of the feline 'kin.' This man is one of her mates. It's not exactly 'fated mates,' just mates, which differs from other similar books. It wasn't explained but the vibe I got is that the dragon shifter's mate is tied to the role of whoever is alpha of the 4 'kin' groups.

This book is a reverse harem so of course there are more mates. Specifically, 3 more.

Aaron, alpha of the avian 'kin,' is extremely smart and an eagle shifter. He is sometimes perceived as weak because he is intelligent and cares for Ren but honestly seemed a bit bland. Bland is honestly the best word to describe multiple Ren's mates.

Nate, alpha of the desperate(?) 'kin,' is very loyal and a bear shifter. I have no idea how to spell Nate's 'kin' group because I listened to the audiobook but I honestly have no idea what animals would be in that group.

West, alpha of the canine, was literally my favorite. He had the most personality and backstory of all of the mates. He didn't give in to his attraction to Ren right away because he wanted to make the best decision. He is stubborn and amazing.

Finally, Marco, alpha of the feline 'kin,' was funny and a bit cocky. He had more depth than some other characters but not nearly as much depth as West. I can't say much more about him without spoiling book...2? I can't remember which.

I haven't read a lot of RH books but I felt like there really didn't need to be 4 love interests. None of them had a lot of depth and that bothered me so much.

Honestly, it felt like the only reason Ren was attracted to all of them was the mate bond. I like the 'fated mates' trope so don't get me wrong, but I needed them to have a bit more depth and personality that I can sum up in more than a few words.

Ren is sort of a kleptomaniac which I enjoyed because I hadn't really read something like that but it seemed that fact about her was just forgotten by the author. After about halfway through the first book it was never really mentioned. She has a checkered past as she lived on the streets for a few years which I wished was explored more.

I loved Ren's best friend, Kylie, so much but I needed more of her. Also, where was her backstory? She was funny but didn't have a lot of depth.

Finally, please send help. The ending of the last book in the series was so weird and I could barely get through the last 12 minutes.

Overall, the majority of the characters had barely any backstory, depth, or personality. The world wasn't thought through well, and there were so many unexplained things. I have more complaints about this book but this review is super long.

I just realized while writing this review I discovered a plot hole that is now bothering me a lot.

I read a few reviews that made this book seem promising but they all failed to mention one glaring truth. This book is boring!

Ren is weak at best. Constantly apologizing for not knowing more about shifter law even though she had her past and memories hidden away. It's clear that the author wants to have a stronger bond between Ren and West but he's suck a complete jerk, I spent 2 and a quarter books wishing she'd tell him to stick it where the sun doesn't shine and find her a new alpha. Honestly, there's zero real chemistry with any of the characters to the point where any romance just feels forced or placed to break up the monotony of the story.

Oh, and if you're looking for a steamy, sexy story.... look elsewhere. You're going to get a few heavy make out scenes and about 1 sex scene per book that are a bit rushed and lacking any real heat. So if you're not a huge fan of those anyways, this is probably the book for you.

The story drags but there's no real resolution as each book leaves you with a cliffhanger that still doesn't motivate a reader to actually continue reading other than the need to finish what was started.

While I usually appreciate a different view on shifters, vampires and fairies, this book makes all three of those seem incredibly weak. Seriously, Ren has to struggle to hold on to her dragon form! I get if it's hard to change from one to the other but struggling to hold it, shouldn't be an issue when referencing shifters. All the characters are weak and forgettable. I'm not even finishing this which is hard to admit but I just can't stomach another mintue of reading a boring plot full of weak characters.

This is unfortunately my first DNF of the year, in its defence I was listening to the audio book version not a physical or ebook version. The voice actor was just not suited to this at all. The voice narrator had a voice that I did not find pleasant to listen to a fact that was made even worse when they narrated voices of the opposite sex. It is a shame I really wanted to like this story, the book had a good idea and basis, I think maybe if I can track down an ebook copy and read it myself hopefully I will enjoy it more.

An okay series…

I thought the beginning of the book showed off more of REN’s feistiness and character. And I think too much time was spent on Ren self deprecating herself and her intended mate, the wolf shifter West being a total douche!!

+*SPOILERS*+

Ren has turned 21 and is at a bat waiting for the mother who abandoned her seven years ago with a cryptic message about opening her locket if Ren doesn’t spit her. Ren is hurt and upset when her mom doesn’t show up, but opens her locket. Not much later a kinda swarmy guy comes up to her, and Ren isn’t interested…she feels like something is off about him. When she leaves the bar she’s “attacked” drugged and when she wakes up it to a gorgeous room that most certainly NOT her home. Shortly thereafter, a ridiculously handsome man introduced himself as Marco and apologized for his Lieutenants behavior, angry that he had basically kidnapped Ren instead of just talking to her and getting to know her. He tells Ren she’s free to go, but when she gets up to do so he throws a mind altering bomb on her…HE KNOWS HER AND HE KNOWS HER VANISHED MOTHER!! Ren decides to hear him out, but they have to wait for Marco’s “friends” to arrive.

Once “the gang” is all assembled Ren gets her mind totally blown when Marco and the other hot guys (because of course they’re all totally hot- and she feels an odd pull toward them all) she thinks she’s going crazy, and knows she’s going crazy when they announce that they are All, including Ren )short for Serenity) REN’s intended mates!!! And that Ren is THE LAST OF THE DRAGON SHIFTERS LEFT!! Ren is shocked, demands proof and after Nate turns into a bear she’s in shock, but she’s sold on what they said.

All-in-all the 4 hot guys are Alpha’s of separate “kin groups” a.k.a. Their respective packs and they NEED Ren desperately because the dragon shifters were always the strongest, best representatives and leaders of ALL SHIFTER OUT THERE. That Rens mom had been the prior dragon wolf mated to four men. Every dragon female in history has had 4 mates to love and cherish her. Ren is overwhelmed and nervous about the fact that she’s afraid that she’ll be a disastrous dragon…heck she only found out she’s not human a day ago. Clearly one of her intended mates has the “same” agreement as Ren does, West REALLY DOESN’t WANT TO TAKE REN AS A MATE - he doesn’t trust her, he thinks she is pathetically weak and will only distract then all from necessary pack work and duties.

This is another reason for Wests “rejection” he’ needs to be the one in control, and doesn’t like how the mate bond is FORCING (at least that’s what he thinks m…he’s being forced by a bond he never wanted and doesn’t feel right about. And thinks his emotions and wants around Ren are ridiculous. How could he really want or even love, the minute they meet. And West ALWAYS puts his Pack FIRST! He doesn’t want a mate because he doesn’t want her to become bitter or angry about how much he loves his pack, and also has extremely WRONG IDEAS about Ren and her character/nature.

Ren needs to mate all 4 Alphas in order for mated Pack members to conceive. They’ll never conceive unless Ren lets the Alphas bond her, and it’s a bond for life!! I didn’t like how quickly Ren just “accepted” her “roll.” I also didn’t like how easily she trusted and fell for the guys..except douchebag West…but even though West is a cold, bitter, angry, scowling moron, Ren STILL SLEEP WITH HIM…I know, ridiculous right?! Wests “apology” is 1. At the basic “ending of the series…yeah it takes that long to get his a!$$ into gear and figure out that he loves her 2. His apology comes way too late, is pretty lame, and as a reader I couldn’t really forgive him for how mean and nasty he was with Ren for pretty much of the series 3. West doesn’t even grovel!! I know I’ve said this more than a few times, but it’s still true…if a guy/love interest/mate whatever you call it , does horrible things to his romantic interest (the FMC) then he better GROVEL LIKE HELL- and pray that his girl forgives him. I don’t mind a tortured soul having initial regrets or hesitancy…but that doesn’t give him a reason to turn his back on his fated mate AND be cruel and awful towards her. West does the cruel torturing thing in spades. And in the process really makes Ren feel awful and doubt herself constantly!! But does he stop - nah! He just continues to be an ass until pretty much the end of the series…and Ren just caves, like literally, her initial thoughts of his nasty demeaning self was that he was a rotten egg, but she just folds, sleeps with him forgives the bastard and says she wants to put things behind them and start afresh…huh!? Again huh?! It’s preposterous that a kind and sweet someone like Ren would fold so easily…especially after she got her memories (West says snarky and throughout the books meaner, and even straight up cruel and cold and emtionslly distant. He’s set on breaking the bond because he thinks he can, and doesn’t like not being in control

This is a great bargain that pulls together the entire Dragon Shifter's Mates series of four books and a novella at the end that gives us more information of what happened next to Ren, her mates and their combined peoples. Well written it is a joy to read and you will be pulled into the story as it progresses.

*** Please note this is a reverse harem series of books and so it will feature sexual content and one woman with multiple mates.

Dragon's Guard

Ren Landis goes out on her 21st birthday and ends up being kidnapped. Then it all goes a bit weird when she discovers that shifters actually exist and that she is one too - and that she is the last dragon shifter too. She meets the hot alphas of the 4 shifter groups and she is supposed to mate with them and unite the shifter communities. However she has never shifted, has no idea how to reactivate her powers and there are rogues out for her blood so they can finish what they started years ago.

WOW. Lots of drama, danger, hot guys, passion and action. I loved the concept of the story with her mating with the 4 of them (lucky girl!) and her struggle to understand this new world and finding her powers. Well written and the sex scenes were tastefully written and appropriate to the story. I can't wait to read the next instalment in the story.

Dragon's Tears

Ren discovered in the previous book that she is the last dragon shifter alive and has to have 4 alpha shifters as her mates - such a hard task. However she is starting to get her abilities and emotions under control. However following a trail from her mother, both Ren and her mates have to face trials and dangers along the way. As part of that secrets are unearthed that threaten the peace that exists between shifters and fae - does Ren have the strength to handle everything that is thrown a her?

Wow - so much drama and danger all mixed in with a real need for restraint and diplomacy. I loved the interplay between Ren and her mates as well as Ren and the people in the wider shifter community. I won't spoil anything but two of them need a damn good shake! Well written and lots of drama, danger and excitement. Looking forward to what happens next.

Dragon's Desire

Ren has settled into her role as the last dragon shifter and is getting her head around this 4 alpha mates. However trouble won't leave them alone and the rogues won't eave them alone. Try as they might they find allies to the rogues and betrayal in the most unexpected places. How can she unite all the shifters when 3 weeks ago she thought she was a normal human??

Wow - great story that was drama and excitement from start to finish. There were twists and turns all over the place and I definitely found myself reading faster and faster as the story developed. Well written and everything was clear and easy to understand. I can't wait for the next one now.

Dragon's Fate

Life is still not normal for Ren and her mates when supernatural race war seems even more likely as vampires decide that shifters should no longer exist and start taking action to ensure that is true. Whilst fire can destroy vampires and protect the shifters there is only one Ren so she can't be everywhere. She goes to look at the dragon archives in the hope it holds the answer although she will find it will make her question is knew about the new world she now lives in.

Wow - this was a great ending to the series. It still had the mixture of drama and danger as we expect from the series but it definitely upped the ante a bit and the relationships between Ren and her mates were good for the level of detail it added and showed how the dynamic would work in that situation. I liked the way it ended and hope that might lead to a new series so we get to find out what happens later. Well written and I could feel and and easily empathise with the thoughts and emotions from the characters.

Dragon's Joy

Now Ren is in charge of all shifter races there is finally peace after many years of chaos and violence. She decides to give all the people she is responsible for an epic Christmas although it is not easy when her mates and friends keep asking her if she is ok - she's pregnant not an invalid and it's getting a bit tiring. Her mates are also planning to give her a great Christmas so she might well find that she will have a few surprises on the way. Will all this planning and parties giver here a sense of peace before their daughter arrives?

This was a charming novella which both gave us an update on Ren and her mates but also gave us a real sense of the Christmas spirit. I loved the detail in some of the areas and the hints of some things that could potentially happen to some of the other characters in the future. It was clearly written and easy to understand. It definitely made me feel both Christmassy and happy to know what happened next at the end of the series.

decent read

#1 Dragon’s Guard
It was really good. The story was well thought out. The characters were fun and their stories fit in with their actions. I do hate the trope of having your memories suppressed and then that person goes missing and you continue to not get them back. I’m glad Ren is working through that now. Her backstory that she didn’t know anything about is actually very sad. I hope being 21 means she can go back to using the bank account her mother left her. I so hope that somehow her family is still around even know i know that’s not gonna happen. I appreciate that Kylie is still around and knows what’s going on with Ren and she doesn’t have to keep it a secret.

4 stars

#2 Dragon’s Tears
Ren suddenly deciding to stop wearing her necklace with no preamble or meaning behind it seems wrong. I’m glad there were visions of her mother not just words of what to do. “But it didn’t come with an instruction manual or anything.” Isn’t that always the problem. I don’t appreciate that it was really inexplicable why she couldn’t shift in book 1 and suddenly in book 2, she’s doing it left and right. The story had good progression, I wish the mates were getting along well but once something is done it’s good to jump ahead some.

3 stars

#3 Dragon’s Desire
I really don’t understand why we’re starting book 3 and West is still not on board! Now we also have to worry about Marco?! Why?? Don’t we have enough going on in this universe without having to deal with issues within the group?? I understand it, but pushing off the mating with Marco makes the story almost insufferable cause literally it’s so dumb, it’s a foregone conclusion- let’s get the show on the road. The “traitors” sure don’t need much to flip on the rogues. Kylie is a great friend and Alice is a wonderful sister in law - they must be protected at all costs. The endings are always so wild.

3 stars

#4 Dragon’s Fate
Going into book 4, with the end not necessarily in sight AND WEST on the sidelines, too much. They should’ve already figured this out. His holding out still doesn’t make sense! The alternative isn’t explained at all! WHAT IS THE REASON, West!! Why has there still be no real explanation to why Ren can’t hold her shift? I don’t understand why the fae haven’t come back up but the vampires are being a nuisance. Why? West’s mommy issues are dark and still not fully clear why it’s effecting Ren but what else is new with West? If all this vampire conflict is happening before and by chapter 8, what all is going to happen in this book?? “Since when?” YEAH! Since when, West! Like make that make sense, two pages ago he was vehemently still anti Ren… this book is the weirdest of the series cause it seems like it was written just cause. “That was—that was days ago, West. Why the hell haven’t you said anything?” WHYYYYY - the conversation with Ren about West’s reasonings should’ve happened any time before they became mates, he might’ve been less insufferable. “I take it you finally figured out how to remove your head from your a$$.” Marco is all of us!! The flashbacks with the Fae seemed like it could have a simple ending but then it wasn’t. Nothing really makes much sense. The ending and the compromise and the ending was good.

3 stars

Novella: Dragon’s Joy
It was nice to see the aftermath and having it set at Christmas gave it reason. I do wish we had actually gotten to see them be parents. But it was cute. Also with names like Haven, Temperance, Verity and Serenity- Joy was just too normal. But a cute little novella that did tie up loose ends. Even if I’m still not positive why the fae truly killed her mother or why the rogues were mad. The only answers were that the past vampire king was awful.

I read each of these books as an advanced reader. My reviews are included below and were all voluntary.

Dragon’s Guard – 5 stars

I am loving the first book in this new series. It has it all. The girl who has no idea she is a dragon-shifter, the trusted and loyal best friend who is willing to believe in the supernatural and deal with it, not one, but four hunky Alpha males to claim the heroine as their mate. What's not to love? There is some hot moments and some scary ones. There is fighting and kissing. Did I mention the FOUR hot males?

I was gifted a copy of this book to enjoy. My review is voluntary. I can't wait for the next book to find out what happens. Eva might want to hurry that writing thing the heck up.

Dragon’s Tears – 5 stars

I loved this second book in the series. Ren and the Alphas are off to search for whatever her mother was trying to get when she disappeared. Her bond with Aaron is now strong and she has hopes for her other Alphas, but she is still not comfortable thinking of herself as the mate of four alpha males.

There will be many setbacks as they travel through the mountain towards whatever is tugging her forward. Ren will see things that she wishes she hadn't and hear things that would have been better unheard. She will finalize the mating bond with one more Alpha, feel betrayed by one, and rejected by another. Through it all she will cling to one thought, she is a dragon shifter and she is strong.

Dragon’s Desire – 5 stars

Another fantastic book in the series (which I would recommend you read in order so as to get all the yummyness and the mayhem).

Ren and her mates are once again under attack from the rogues. Nate's clan has been attacked and several shifters have been killed. It is clear the rogues had inside help, and that makes matters worse. Now they not only have a band of shifters who are willing to break all the sacred laws to worry about, but they also have to question everyone's loyalty.

Don't worry, there will be time for some loving amongst the dragon and her mates. She will accept another one of the Alphas as a mate, who will it be? Marco or West? One of them betrayed her and one of them is cold to her. Does she forgive or turn up the heat? Maybe both!

Dragon’s Fate – 5 stars

I was very excited to get to read this book and find out what was going on with Ren and her mates. You can probably follow along without reading the preceding books in the series, but why would you want to give up the chance at all that shifter yumminess?

Serena and her four mates are still in deep doodoo. She has forged a bond with Marco, Aaron, and Nate; but West is still holding back. While they have beaten the rogues who have been trying to destroy their chance at unity, a new enemy emerged when vampires attack a shifter group near New York. The attacks spread and since the vampires are armed with weapons forbidden to shifters, many kin are being killed.

Serena and her mates must find a way to beat the vampires before more are lost. When Serena returns to her childhood home, the dragon estate, she realizes that the answer lies in the history left to her by her dragon family. Can she reunite the shifters with an old ally, now turned enemy, before it is too late? And will West give in to his real feelings and make Ren's bond with her mates complete?

They’re not the best written stories I’ve ever read…
But I still couldn’t put this series down!
I wish this was a larger series and more detailed. But for my first shifter mates series, it was a good read!

I’m not sure if the narrator for the audiobook took her own liberties not reading all the work as it was written on the page, but that was slightly disappointing when she changed the language. However, the male narrator didn’t do that. He read verbatim. If there is a typo I understand correcting it but it was more than that with Felicity Munroe’s readings of the books.
Though I did love the different character voices she did! You could always tell who was saying what, before the character’s name was said after the fact. How she did the different accents from Kylie to Marco was great! Obsessed with that.

*Spoilers about the guys*
I read reviews complaining about how long it takes for West to come around (about 75% into the series does he finally start to follow his feelings) but let’s be real. It’s four different men, with four different personalities. I, as a more logical thinker, thought it made sense for West to question what was real and what was the mate bond. I’d resist as well if I didn’t have all the answers, in order to put my people first, ahead of my own emotions. Sometimes emotions can be acted on selfishly and when he realized he wasn’t being selfish by wanting/needing Ren, he came around quick enough.
I loved the different personalities. That part, I thought, was very well written. I loved Marco and Aaron from the beginning. Also, very different personality traits just between those two.
I love that Aaron uses knowledge as power. Learning the histories of people and their kin. I love Marco’s smooth nonchalance attitude. But when he had to make up for a mistake he made towards Ren, that made him more lovable. His real feelings reflected his love for her after that. Nate’s “slightly” overprotectiveness, that’s a trait I have as well. I love love and love when people want to protect what’s precious to them.
The guys all also had a mutual respect for one another.

With the ending… *Spoiler*
It left me wanting more. I want to read about that next adventure they have getting ready for a new princess of flames! I want to see how she’s raised by all the different people that’ll be in her life: Serenity, Aaron, Nate, Marco, West and probably Kylie and Felix!
I’d love for Ren and her mates to have more dragon shifter babies and it’d be beautiful if her daughters were named after her sisters and/or her mother.

For now I’ll just have to write that story in my own imagination lol

If you’ve read this to the end - thanks for reading my nonsense lol 🫶🏻

Stopped at book 3

I had to stop by the third book. This book was written well in the aspect of very few to no grammatical errors that I caught. However, I’m just not a fan of the writing style of the female lead. I’m sure this series is great and maybe I’ll set it down for now and pick it up later, but for now I’m just meh. As I said before, I’m just not a fan of the female, she had these moments of kick butt but they fell short or the author tried to hype her up so much so and then she’d fall flat. Her little outburst in the aviary territory didn’t make her seem badass or regal or anything positive, it made her seem immature and ignorant. It was a bit of a childish display instead of being a diplomatic power play. And her initial dealings with the fae queen her initial conversation just made her seem a little whiny and out of depth. Yeah she proved she had some power, but it all seemed like the author tried way too hard.
Then it came to the guys and again I only got through book 2, I didn’t know why she chose to lose her vCard to the first one, it really didn’t feel like they had that great of a connection to warrant him getting a certain amount of intimacy in the beginning. Then with Nate he was literally the sweetest and she chewed his head off for trying to protect her from an attack that she said “she could’ve handled” idk. I guess when I’ve read shifter stuff in the past I’m used to an element of awe and reverence when it comes to mates. One of them was overheard making it sound like a chore, another admitted he fell in love with another but “never went fully into it, still waiting for her”, another is a jerk continuing to deny any bond, and the other actually treated her the way I’d expected. Idk I’m sure it gets better as you progress through but I need a break from this author’s style.

The book, The Dragon Shifters Mates by Eva Chase, is a romantic adventure book. The main character, Ren Landis, just turned 21 and she was on her way to a bar when she was kidnapped. This is when the revelation of her true identity of being the last dragon shapeshifter in existence at this point in time. This is an interesting and engaging fantasy book as she has to go through the stages of young adulthood where the reader learns that all young adults have to deal with unexpected experiences.
Ren experiences many tragedies before her 21st birthday. However, she still feels like she’s a regular normal person. When Ren is kidnapped on her 21st birthday, she is told that she is very important to uniting all shifters. This secret society needs Ren to marry one of the most important men of the four shifter groups. At first Ren is shocked but learning that is basically royalty and her mom was too, gives her the strength to learn quickly about politics, rules, and alliances. Ren gains followers and their respect because of her brilliance and beauty. They agree to protect her saying “I think our princess of flame has more than proven herself this morning”. Ren had just defeated the vampires and rouges by using different strategies and her shapeshifting abilities.
This book takes the readers through different scenarios of trauma, action, romance and healing. It is a great book for people who like long reads and complex storylines. The main character Ren goes through different stages of her new complex life at 21 years old. The way that she deals with unexpected events is the reason why this book is interesting to follow and enjoy.

Living on her own since her mother disappeared, Serenity is kidnapped on her 21st birthday, and that's only the beginning. She's introduced to the world of shifters and told she is also a shifter. AND not just any shifter but the most powerful shifter type in existence, a dragon. AND she is the only one left. AND as the lone dragon shifter, it is her destiny to unite all the shifters by mating with the wolf, bear, jaguar, and eagle Alphas of the four shifter groups. However, many don't want the shifters united and strong again, and they are willing to kill Serenity to ensure she never fulfills her destiny.

I love shifter books; love abilities, fated mates, vampires, fae, unknown histories, and destinies. So, I should have loved this series. However, I didn't love the characters. Ren could be a little much at times. Marco came across as a sleazy player, Aaron was nice but dull, West was unnecessarily mean, and Nate, the one guy I liked was tarnished when he admitted to falling in love with another woman (almost impossible to do with a true mate). This should have been Aaron; it fit his personality better and would have left Nate as the perfect marshmallow he should have been. The only character I have no complaints about was the feisty bestie, Kylie. There was some good worldbuilding and the storyline was solid but without appealing characters and strong relationships, the RH was unsuccessful for me.

I tried, folks. I really did. I love me some paranormal smut, but this was not that. The reviews looked promising and I kept listening well into book 1 waiting for the spice, but all I got was a very badly written YA attempt at romance. Ren barely rounded third base with one of her mates. This is not the 4:1 ratio I envisioned.

And folks are we really back to the virgin trope again? Thanks but no thanks.

It didn't help that the audiobook reader had a WiscAHnsin accent (totally fine on it's own, but when she's talking about her "inner draygon" it just made me chuckle). And did she think she was Batman when she was doing West's voice? Totally off-putting.

I wanted to get into this because hello reverse harem. Four beautiful mates. Where was the action, folks?

Best part of the book was my mental images of the mates. My brain casts its own dreamcasts without my permission. It selected the following actors as the roles of mates:
Kitty shifter = Ian Somerhalder (but without the ridiculously overdone southern accent)
Large hot teddy bear shifter = Jason Momoa
Murica aka eagle shifter = Chris Hemsworth (but....cloacas. How?!?!?? A girl has questions.)
Big bad wolf = Sam Heughan (bc how many hottie gingers does Hollywood even have)

You're welcome and good luck to you.

Dragon’s Guard 4⭐️ - great opening book of the series, introduces all our main characters along with their animal shifters and some of the base issues Ren is facing. Ends with a cliff-hanger.

Dragon’s Tears 4.5⭐️ - story continues as Ren and her mates search for her mother through her mother’s trail. This takes them into the mountains which gives Ren new powers from the Fae and how her mother was killed. Ren has accepted 2 of the 4 mates and she is encountering more and more people/shifters who do not accept her as the proper mate for their alpha.

Dragon’s Desire 4⭐️ - visiting the bear and cat shifter headquarters leaves more damage and attacks in the wake as more and more rogue shifters continue to put pressure on Ren and her mates. Marco and Wes character arch’s continue to grow and develop while A**** and Nate’s characters remain loyal and supportive to Ren. The rogue battle continues in the next book.

Dragon’s Fate 4⭐️ - interesting ending to this series. Ren completes the mating bond with all of the alphas gaining additional powers and abilities. They go to the fae and reconnect for a long lasting partnership.

I wanted to like it! But I didn’t ....

It’s started off well and with what seemed like a lot of promise, but the story got way too repetitive (and predictable ) with just about everything after the first book. The inner MC dialogues, the arguments between alphas, the instant attraction, the battles between rogues and then battles with vampires and even the dialogues between the alphas and the dragon. The worst part were the identical play-by-play love scenes throughout that were pretty boring after the first few. Maybe this problem comes from reading the books in a box set? It makes the repetition and lack of variety more noticeable. There was even a major plot flaw with the bad guy rogues and their hoped for end game that I hoped would be addressed considering the procreation “limitations” within kins- but it just never got addressed.
I fast forwarded through the added Novella at the end. I was just over it by then. As I quickly flipped pages- I could see more repetitive scenes and dialogues throughout the chapters as Ren goes through the queenly responsibilities with the kins. So I didn’t miss much it seems. Not sure I will continue with this author in the future as her story style is not diverse enough for me.

I have adored (and separately reviewed) each of the books in Eva Chase’s frankly wonderful Dragon Shifter's Mates series. Now in The Dragon Shifter's Mates: The Complete Series we not only get those four books but also a special treat, Dragon’s Joy: The Dragon Shifter’s Mates Christmas Novella. Each of these books is full of great action and adventure as Ren (and her guys, focusing on one each in the first four books) battle to save the shifter clans. Then after a fantastic conclusion in book 4 things are tied off with a beautiful combination holiday tale and series epilogue in Dragon’s Joy. For someone like me who adores a fun Christmas story and is addicted to stories with dragons in them this is pure ambrosia. When you add in the four super hot mates of Ren, now the dragon Queen well, let’s just leave it that things simply could not get better. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises - the boxset definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the boxset is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend.

The Dragon Shifter’s Mates by Eva Chase is a four-book series. This is a free series on Audible, so I went for it for a light listen on my drive to and from work. The series itself is simple to follow and serves as great background noise for relaxing. However, I did feel the plot as well as the narration were kind of childish. The story felt very cookie-cutter and simple.

Basically, Serenity and her mom ran away from the shifter world when she was a kid. Her mom left her alone for a trip or mission and never came back. When Ren turns 21, her mates show up and say, “Hey, we are your mates, we are shifters, and you are a dragon.” Ren responds with “bet.” (BASICALLY)

I didn’t hate it, especially since it was a free series. But I won’t be recommending it.

All the mates were way too agreeable and lacked depth (or personality). West was the only one to be slightly different, but even that relationship felt meh.

The steam wasn’t bad, but it was very short and lacked creativity. You’ve got four smoking Mates who literally say they will do anything you want. Maybe try to want more??? Just saying what we were all thinking!

Slow story!

H: Nate: Bear Shifter, Aaron: Eagle Shifter, Marco: Jaguar Shifter, West: Wolf Shifter Alphas
h: Serenity Drake: Dragon Shifter aka Ren
Okay so we have Ren in the human world with Dragon powers unannounced to her. Her mom abandoned her when she was 14yrs and gave her a chain with a locket and told her to open it on her 21st birthday. At her 21st birthday she opened the locket hoping to have her mom back but instead she got 4 guys telling her that she is a dragon and she is meant to mate with all of them (all leaders of each Kin) to pretty much unite all shifters together. There she learned that her mom was mated to 4 shifters as wells and that she had sisters, they all died when they were attacked. Her mom was able to save her. Then her mom left a message in that locket and off they went trying to find out what that message says. I'm glad I got all 4 books but towards the 4th book it just got boring and very repetitive. All of them trying to find out who is after them and why and they always seem to fight by themselves and even their own people are stabbing them in the back. I got tired of it. I stopped book 4- Dragons Fate chapter 8 pg: 606 (73%).

I really enjoyed this set. You never know sometimes with these types of serials. Especially with reverse harems. It wasn't instantaneous as far as mating. She took her time. West took his damn time in figuring his stuff out. Times he pissed me off and the times he lifted his lips in a small smile. Ren was so great and she really had a hard time sometimes. She should have been shifting and learning from a child but things happened and protecting her outweighs anything else. So she's late in the game and trying to learn as fast as possible. She definitely got the short end sometimes. Of course she frustrated me sometimes. All around I liked it. I do wish these "wars" were explained more in depth...just seemed too easy or the reasons were not the best reason for so many to die. Then the vampires wanted a piece which was weird and felt thrown in. There were also times I think some of the book(s) dragged on but not terribly. Anyway enjoyable.
