The Rock Cries Out: Discovering Eternal Truth in Unlikely Music

Rate this book
Steve Stockman essays the music of 13 artists who have never made any kind of Christian profession but whose work is under girded with issues, questions and solutions that seem to be very much biblical. From The Beatles to Springsteen to Marley to Radiohead there is biting spiritual insight and challenge between the lines. Could God be speaking in those unlikely places? Are we listening?

I was kind of disappointed with this book. I think I had the wrong expectations as to what it would be about. I was expecting the book to possibly give me reasons why I should listen to the people that it talked about in the book. I thought it would be talking about more about the songs and the spiritual things I could take out of them. Instead, I found that the book talked more about the artist's spiritual journey if they had one. I didn't really get into the book until the last couple of chapters. The book itself wasn't that bad and I think I would have possibly enjoyed it more if I had been expecting what I got.
