A continuing series with sidebars, further readings, and web site addresses explores different diseases found throughout the world to show the science behind how disease-causing organisms affect the body.
I was hoping the book would provide a bit more detail than it did, but it was intended to be a brief overview for the layman. It does a great job at what it was intended to do and provides excellent points about how we should consider dealing with bioterrorism in the future. All the information about lab testing is also accurate and relevant.
A nice medical summary of the affects of Anthrax, but doesn't go far into the history of the disease, locations where it's generally found, initial discovery of the bacterium, initial vaccinations by Pastur. It ends with a general overview of the USSR and bioterrorism. Overall interesting medically, but I was looking for the history and development of Anthrax strain discoveries.
