Eden, OK #3

Their Small-Town Love

Rate this book
Her school reunion was just an excuse. New Christian Ivy Villard really returned to Eden, Oklahoma, to reconcile with her father, her sister…and Ryan Jeffords, the high school boy she left behind. Ivy chased adventure in the big city, but she's learned her lesson. Of all her mistakes, there's nothing she regrets more than throwing Ryan's love away. Now they have a second chance, if they're brave enough to take it.

Arlene James has written romance for four decades, and has published 100+ novels. A mother of sons and now a happy grandmother to the brightest, most talented, and lovely of all granddaughters, she is finding her sixth decade to be great fun.

She and her very supportive husband of 45 years (whom she agreed to marry on their first date!) enjoy a busy social life and have visited much of the world. After calling Texas home for three decades, they now live in beautiful NW Arkansas.

Arlene grew up on a ranch in south central Oklahoma and still maintains strong ties in that area. She firmly believes that writing has afforded her the best of all possible means of earning a living, and credits a junior high school English teacher with proving to her that her dream of being an author was entirely achievable.

After 4 decades of deadlines and multiple-book contracts (for which she is deeply grateful), she is enjoying the ability to write exactly what she feels led to write on her own schedule.

Likes: Ivy had a radio job. Themes of redemption and the scourge of gossip.
Dislikes: the story bogged down some and
suffered from “heavy-handedness”.

Wonderfully written story about the healing power of forgiveness all centered around gossip and its consequences. I loved it!

Another good story from Eden, Oklahoma, where the Jeffords, Villards and Halsey's call home. A story of what damage slander and gossip can do in a small town and how the Lord delivers.

Ivy Villard came from a radio-broadcasting background, possibly shock-talk. After she is delivered, the damage was already done when she returns home to make things right.

After seeing an old classmate at the high school reunion, Ryan Jefford notices all is not well with Ivy's world. Will Ivy let the Lord intervene or will she run like always? Maybe both.

Loved this one! I don't like sugary sweet Christian romances, I like them with edge, and the heroine was definitely treated pretty bad in this book. There's nothing like doing something wrong, and coming back to a small town and have people talk about you! The heroine was contrite, though, she knew she did wrong-especially leaving the hero, so she has another chance to get back with him. I wish all LI books had some edge to it, like this one. Will look for more reads from this author.

No idea what possessed me to pick up a sappy romance novel....ok well I have a good idea, but it wasn't bad. Completely knew what was going to happen the whole time. Really cute story to lift your spirits.
