This book is mainly about Louise and her music. Group of college boys have Christian rock band and she is totally against their music. Louise and the boys are both planning on playing at town concert. Jane is trying to get rid of mole in her yard and get ready to be on a radio show about gardening. Alice isn’t talked about much, just that she is helping rarely at a summer camp.
"You'll never grow old, you know. Not as long as you have music within you."

I was pleasantly surprised with how much I liked this one. It's a Louise centric one and I think it's the first one like that, so I have been wondering for a while through the other books how a Louise one would go, because of the three sisters she is the stricter and more proper one. So, it would seem like this book should have been more boring or at least not that exciting of a read. But it was so good! At least for me it was.
I found myself tearing up multiple times because of Louise's connection to her late husband and when her kindness shown through. Louise's daughter's reaction when she heard the song Louise was composing had me crying too. And her musical soul beating in sync with Gabriel had me feeling so choked up during their encounters. Kindred spirits. And her interactions with her former pupil who was a brat when taking piano lessons was much needed. Louise got to find out in so many ways how much of a difference she makes in people's lives.
So yeah, this book was great from my point of view. Never knew how much I needed Louise's perspective on things. Truly a great edition to this novel series, made amazing by the fact that Louise got to close some doors regarding her late husband Eliot and understand her own feelings about the life they shared together. Oh, and Jane's comical battle over her garden against a very stubborn mole was good stuff too.
9th book in series. It's midsummer and the Howard sisters are busy running their Inn. Jane is having a problem with a mole in her garden and is trying to find an organic way to get rid of it. Meanwhile there's a flood in one of the counselors cabins at the nearby kids summer camp. Aunt Ethel is away on vacation, so the sister let the 4 guys stay at the carriage house if they do some painting for Ethel. They later find out these boys are a christian rock band also here for the Pine Valley Music Festival. All of these situations combined with an unhappy camper and Louise's daughter Cynthia coming to visit make for an interesting summer.
Sometimes the books in this series start off with one of the sisters being crabby, and the rest of the book centers on that sister. This one started with Louise in a crabby mood because of some young guys staying next door who were rock musicians. I have a hard time reading about crabby Louise and this one took me a while to finish. It was certainly worth getting to the maturing Louise by the end of the story.
I could not put it down. I stayed up late reading and then finished it reluctantly the next day. I did not want it to ever end. I am hooked on the tales from Chapel Hill Inn series.
Another enjoyable book from this great series about 3 sisters who turn their old Victorian home into a B&B after the death of their father. This book focuses mostly on Louise, the eldest. She is set to perform at a local music festival and would love to finish a concerto she is dedicating to her late husband. She is introduced to four young men who have a Christian rock band. This is as far from what Louise considers appropriate music but as she gets to know them, she finds herself not only challenging them but being challenged herself.
As with all of these books, there are the themes of searching for God's will, of growing in His love, of struggles, of forgiveness and of love.
