Serviceable, informative, but not an engaging style. The graphs and the logical structure of the information is fine, but this driest and most pedestrian of software engineering topics is explained in the most neutral and bureaucratic tone you could imagine. It's probably one of the better works on the topic, I imagine. I read it for work, not because I really wanted to.

I regard David Loshin as one of the few real experts within the Data Management space. So when you want to learn about Master Data Management, I don't think you have the option, not to read this book as it is simply a reference in itself. Therefore, on the plus side, this book is really well structured and thought out. It gives you an excellent introduction to the topic and introduces you to all the aspects of MDM in a balanced high level manner. On the minus side, I have always had some trouble with the writing style used by David Loshin. I find it very heavy handed and complex. I understand that, as an expert, you take care of expressing your thoughts in a very precise manner, choosing your wording very carefully. This should not however make the text difficult to read and understand. This is what happened to me on several sections where you find yourself struggling to discover that you do understand but that all could have been explained in a simpler way.
So, in summary, a recommended reference work on MDM but not the easiest read ...
