XIK’N
My mission is simple. One: retrieve the shuttle. Two: don’t get caught.

The tiny human female who answers my transmission is just a bonus. Every ounce of my being tells me to take her, touch her, and taste her. I earn her trust instead, and we talk for hours through our shuttles.

When hostile humans turn on May and her friends, she steals the shuttle for herself. Now she’s out there on a mountain full of deadly scourge with armed males at her heel. May is mine, and I must find and claim her before they do.

MAY
Xarc’n warriors walk around their shuttle in their birthday suits. Ask me how I know.

When the hulking alien warriors first came to Earth, I was terrified of them, but this purple protector makes me feel safe. Besides, after surviving through the bugpocalypse, I’ve learned the Xarc’n warriors are our allies, even if they do have sharp teeth and horns.

The people I live with aren’t so friendly though, and when I realize I’ve outstayed my welcome, I steal their shuttle and save my friends from certain doom. Now we have armed mercs searching for us, hordes of bugs eager to eat us, and a twice-stolen shuttle. What have I gotten myself into?

This post-apocalyptic alien romance is filled with action, adventure, and tons of steam. Can be read as a stand-alone or as a part of a series. HEA guaranteed.

I just love the bugpocalypse!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙🖤💚❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘📔
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌍🌎
Character development: 😔🤨😛😁🥰

The heroine: May - when the scourge of alien bugs came to Earth and started killing and eating everything from animals to humans, May traveled from Canada to the United States, she and her traveling companions moved into the mountains after having heard the bugs seemed to be staying away from there. Though she thinks the group of raiders she is now living with set a trap for her group to separate them and took her when she couldn’t find her group again.

The Hero: Xic’n - he is a Xarc’n hunter in the mountains. He lives in the huge mansion they call The Ledge, because it was built on the edge of a mountain and looks out over the the entire mountain and valley below. He lives there with two other Xarc’n warriors and their human females and they are three of the warriors that work to keep the space bugs off the mountain. Xic’n has been tasked with retrieving the Xarc’n shuttle that the human raiders found and took into their cave.

The Story: The raider group treats the women like slaves and would just as soon feed them to the bugs or throw them in the arena to fight against the bugs if they said the wrong thing. These are the same raiders in the first book in this series, that went to Morgan’s home and stole her supplies and took her hostage, before she was rescued by her Xarc’n warrior mate. That changed things for the women in the camp, the newbies were now kept deeper in the cave and were locked up. Though the women like May who had been there a while were no less prisoner and weren’t allowed to leave the cave.

One of May’s new responsibilities was to watch the video screen in the Xarc’n shuttle because it showed where other Xarc’n shuttles were located. She was supposed to tell the leader if she saw any nearby. The screen and the doors were the only things the raiders could make work on the shuttle. Though the shuttle’s ran on solar power, so the power was slowly draining as long as they kept the shuttle underground. During her new duties, May sees an icon on the screen and it is a video call from Xic’n, who codes the shuttle to May’s bio-signature and asks her to fly it out to him. The escape was pretty exciting.

I just love these Xarc’n Warriors. They not only came to Earth to kill all the huge, gross and toxic alien bugs with their fancy space shuttles and weapons, but they are over 7 feet tall, pretty indestructible and are complete badass’ aliens that can handle pretty much any enemy that comes at them. I bought and listened to all eight books from the Xarc’n Warriors' series on audiobook and loved every one of them. I don’t usually purchase audiobooks that are not full series or at least 8 hours of listening pleasure, and most of these were between 4 and 5 hours, but I did because the stories were so good, and the world building was terrific. So, I was genuinely happy to see this spinoff series set in the mountains even though it isn’t available on audiobook as of yet.

May has survived moving around on her own or with small groups. Every time she gets attached to people or things it is taken. So, she is determined to get free from her current group and head out on her own. She didn't plan on growing attached again.

Xik'n didn't want a mate, but finds himself thinking if he did, he would want one like May. He wants her to choose him, but she needs to be safe first to have that choice.

A great addition to the series. Get new human characters to help fill out the mountain alliance. Can't wait for the next one.

I enjoyed this book very much. This continues were we left off in book One if the Mountains Xarc'n warriors. Xirc'n likes to hunt, a lot, a mate wasn't on his plana but then he meets May and he changed his mind. She is everything he needed and didn't know. Too bad She wants to leave. May thinks She is a bad luck charm and doesn't want to ruim things for her new friends. What She wasn't counting on elas the amazing Xirc'n and his Will to have her Stay. We have some figthing with the humans and there is another Change in the bugs... This things just keep surprising us all. Looking forward to see were this is going.

While this book can be read as a stand-alone I highly recommend you read Xarc'n Warriors series and the Xarc'n Mountains Book 1. It is really worth your time as characters reappear throughout the series. The characters are so well-written they are like an extended family or group of friends.

This book is something of a "you don't always get what you think you want". May is totally fearless until it comes to love. She doesn't know the word quit even when faced with unsurmountable odds. Xik'n definitely a tough guy with a gooey center.

This book was the best yet and has a really small but tough heroine. I stayed up later than I meant to and put off other project as it drew me in and held me captive, I swear!

Love the imagination and direction the mountain series is going, especially the last couple chapters. It's a new world of possibilities and some get their comeuppance. Can't wait for the next book which I hope is about the mystery hunter and the damsel in distress he rescues.

Stay or leave

I didn't really care for May having one foot out the door ready to run. Xik'n is wonderful. Great to see the rescue of more humans and demise of the Raiders. Introduction of another enemy, the 00592 hunters. Looking forward to reading Sandy's and Gabby's stories.

Xarc’n Warriors Mountains is a 4-book post apocalypse series written by Lynnea Lee. The books are set on Earth, after an alien invasion from space bugs, where the few human survivors are still fighting for survival daily. The invasive species, controlled by a “queen,” have built hives inside major cities, and killed (and ate) most humans. The space bugs (aka scourge) carry an infectious and deadly bacteria. Any human that became desperate enough (from starvation) to capture and eat a scourge, turned into a heavily contagious zombie that must be avoided at all cost. The scourge will stop at nothing to return the bacteria to its hive. The remaining humans have taken refuge outside the major cities. Some forming survivalist groups and cults that stand against the Xarc’n Warriors. The Xarc’n Warriors are aliens that have come to help Earth by ridding it of their scourge infestation. The Xarc’ns, being perfect clones specifically designed to fight the bugs, reside in territories around the world. This series follows the Xarc’n Warrior group that resides in the Rocky Mountains. Xarc’n Hunter’s are over 7 feet tall, purple skin, ram-like horns sprouting from their temples, sharp teeth with fangs, and retractable claws. They all seem to have muscles on top of their muscles; no dad bods here. Their females are extinct, which is why they’ve been intrigued to match and mate with women of Earth (they are compatible and can have offspring together).

Hunter’s Price is book 2 in the series and follows the Xarc’n Warrior Xik’n and his human mate May. Xik’n is a Xarc’n Warrior that is a part of Raz’k group. He was one of the clone warriors that defected, leaving w doomed planet behind to help save Earth. He was tasked with retrieving a stolen Xarc’n spacecraft from the raiders. May was a college graduate from Canada who became a great scavenger during the apocalypse when the raiders split her group up and convinced her she needed to stay with them. They stole all her belongings and held her prisoner. We met her already in the first book briefly, when Morgan was kidnapped and taken to the raider’s caves. She met Xik’n when she was tasked with watching the Xarc’n spacecraft the raiders stole. She answered his call on the display, and he discreetly taught her how to use and fly the craft so she could escape her prison and return the craft. Not only did she escape, but she saved 3 other humans from the Raiders and brought everyone to the ledge (which is basically some rich person’s ski resort that was built into the side of a cliff) with other humans and hunters. Xik’n was injured during a scavenging run into town to collect supplies and May saved him from death. While he healed, the members of the cliff formed alliance with the bikers who were scavengers for the Raiders but silently building a revolt against them. Together, they rescued the innocent members of the Raiders. May was afraid of her own feelings, and getting attached to Xik’n just to see him die like the others she became attached to along the way. So she formed her own plan of running away once the people were rescued to live the rest of the life on her own. Of course, she got captured during the rescue mission and Xik’n blazed in to save her. It was then that the mate bond took hold, and May decided to stay with her future family.

Both Xik’n and May agreed that neither of them wanted a mate. But as time went on, however, both fought their feelings for each other less and less. Admittedly, I am 100% on board with the Xarc’n species. Their protective, aggressive, possessive, dominant, controlling need of need of their mate is my kind of flavor. The way they unintentionally purr, growl and roar is kinda cute too. When a mating band takes place, neither party can physically stop touching each other for a certain period of time. Which is different and quite endearing. Each section of a Xarc’n cock is shaped like a sex toy; a head with a thick ridge around the widest part and it dipped in before the next part started. Picture a butt-plug with 3 round balls, each one bigger than the last. After having intercorse with each other multiple times, May winds up pregnant with Xik’ns child; the first within the established community. May didn’t think pregnancy was possible, but Xik’n had his blockers removed upon coming to Earth. She eventually accepted the pregnancy, and they began building their family together.

The book doesn’t suck; it’s filled with adventure and a little romance. I just prefer my novels to be more on the HOTT side. I recommend reading, at least once, if you enjoy a wild ride. Onto the next book in the series…

This was another really good book in the world of the Xarc'n Warriors and I enjoyed getting to know both May & Xik'n as well as some of the other characters in the story. I was glad that some of the good people from the raider group May used to be in were able to split off and join with the Hunters and am also looking forward to reading the next book to see what happened with Gabby and find out more about the Hunter who took her. The epilogue at the end was sweet and I enjoyed how everything came together for May & Xik'n in the end.

In the next part of the struggle of humanity and Xarc'n warriors against the bugpocalypse, we get to know the fate of May and Xik'n. The main character is an independent woman who tried to survive on her own. She only occasionally joined larger groups of survivors, trying not to integrate too much, because all too often comrades died in a battle with bugs. Losing friends was always related to a broken heart, so each time she promised herself that she would never become attached to anyone. At the beginning of the story, May stays in the caves occupied by the Raiders - a group that often robbed other survivors and then "saved" them from oppression by enlisting them in their ranks. Although the heroine does not agree with the Raiders ideology, she cannot leave the area which is guarded by guards for the "good" of the inhabitants. Any disobedience can end in the arena in a fight for life against bugs. One of May's duties in the camp is to observe the map in a shuttle belonging to the Xarc'n warriors that the Raiders have stolen. During one of the shifts, Xik'n makes contact with her. He is responsible for the recovery of shuttle. May and the warrior quickly gain mutual trustr. Even though Xik'n is not actively looking for a mate, he decides to teach May how to operate the shuttle, hoping that he will be able to convince her to leave the Raiders' area and move to the headquarters of the warriors and their friends. It turns out that this knowledge will be useful to her much faster than they predicted. When the life of her friend's brother is in danger, May decides to organize an escape using a shuttle, and taking with her people from the camp which are privy to the escape plan. After a successful running away, May and her friends decide to hide both from the guards and from Xik'n.
The book is a great read. The main characters are perfectly created. There is chemistry between them, but no instalove, which makes their story very interesting. The book is full of twists and turns. When we think that we will get the ending with HEA in a moment, the author surprises us with something new and unexpected. I definitely recommend it for fans of the series and for readers who do not know the previous parts. Although there are references to characters whose stories we have already learned, the author's writing style allows you to enjoy the reading as standalone.

Book two of the Xarc’n Mountain Warriors

May was captured by the Raiders several months ago and has been looking for a way to escape ever since. The women are locked up in the cave and not allowed to leave. They have been guarding a Xarc’n shuttle they captured because it shows the location of the other shuttles on the screen so they can tell if any of them are close to the cave. Other than the screen, they can’t figure out how to get anything else to work. May is on shuttle duty one day when a Xarc’n warrior makes contact with her. He has been tasked with recovering the shuttle, but can’t get to it because it is in the cave. They talk and she trusts him to teach her how to fly the shuttle. She figures this is her way out! But first she must trick them into taking the shuttle outside so the solar cells can recharge. A few days later there is an altercation among the men in the camp. May convinces her two friends she can get them out along with one of their brothers, Danny, who has been locked up for disobedience. They manage to cause a disturbance and flee to the shuttle and get away from the camp.

Xik’n is surprised that May will help him recover the shuttle. He is intrigued with her, even though he doesn’t want a human mate like the other warriors. When she manages to steal the shuttle he figures he will follow her until she lands and then lead her back to the lodge, where the other warriors and their mates live. He is shocked when she cloaks the ship and disappears! Perhaps she is smarter than he thought!

This is a delightful book where the two main characters are sure they don’t want a permanent relationship, but perhaps a little fooling around might not hurt. May has lost everyone she has become close to since the bugapocolypse and can’t stand the idea of losing anyone else so she protects herself from getting close to anyone. But sometimes fate has other ideas! Excellent book!.

May has spent the months since the bugapocalypse traveling both on her own and with a group. However every time she joins up with a group, they are soon separated or killed by the scourge. Just a few months ago she was separated from her last group by a bunch of raiders. She has been held caqptive by them ever since. She has been acting stupid and easy to please so the raiders start to trust her more, hoping that it will give her a chance to escape. Then she gets assigned to monitor on the groups scavenger Hunter shuttle. To her shock, a hunter named Xik'n contacts the shuttle. He teaches her how to control and fly the ship. When she convinces the raiders to take the shuttle outside to charge up, she has the chance to grab some friends and fly away. Xik'n follows them hoping to convince the humans to join them in the lodge on the ledge. The more time May spends with Xik'n, the more she is ready to have a good time with him at least for the night. However she is too afraid to get attached and settle down.

Xik'n is one of the Hunters who went against orders and came to Earth to help save the planet. Some of his Hunter friends have found human mates but Xik'n doesn't see the appeal. When he meets May, he is confused by the way his body reacts to her. At first he thought it was because he wanted a hot encounter but then he found himself purring for her. Could it be that they ae fated mates?.

We're back in the mountains with those always hunky, sometimes clueless Xarc'n Warriors and YESSSSSS. This time around we have Xik'n and May and DOUBLE YESSSSSS.

So. Xik'n. One of the warriors from the contingent that abandoned their previous post and made their way to Earth. The big guy doesn't THINK he wants a mate, but he can't get May out of his head after their first encounter. And after actually meeting her? Yeah, he's a goner. Being that he doesn't have much (read: any) experience with women, he's a little possessive and a little pushy and he's absolutely smitten with his human in all ways, shapes or forms.

Well, he's not actually thrilled by how May might not be sticking around, but the big guy figures he can work on that.

As for May, she's had a run of bad luck with the people she's joined up with. As in, most of them have ended up dead. No lie, that kind of weighs on May. She doesn't want to be the reason the new group she's with meet a bad end. So she plans on setting out on her own. What she doesn't expect? A big purple warrior who likes to hold her and courts her by carrying her around everywhere. Yeah, he can be a little bossy, but May finds out she doesn't mind that part.

A stolen shuttle, a whole lot of bugs, a bad group of raiders, a rescue mission, a purple hunk who will fight anything and everything to keep his lady safe, and a lady who figures out relying on others doesn't put them in danger. GOOD STUFF!

Quick look: Sci-fi romance, purple aliens, horns/tails/fangs, magic stick, growling/purring, alpha hero, feisty heroine, action, adventure, spicy scenes, hilarious culture clashes, survivors, cute pets, foraging abandoned stores, twice stolen ship, upbeat vibes, motorcycles.

Detailed look:
This is one of my ALL-TIME favorite series, because it stays positive and uplifting without sacrificing the action or plot, involves fierce aliens and pet companions, plus tons of feel good fun and ofcourse romance. That's what I'm looking for in a book- a fun escape from the real world. I don't want icky, sad, or mean. (There's a huge difference in an alpha- and just being mean, thankfully this author gets that)

If you've never read any books in this series, that's okay, I'll give you a little backstory of the world and you'll be good to go. I do recommend reading in order, simply because of how good the series is but you technically don't have to. Every book features a new couple, their complete HEA, and builds the world. There's recurring characters that you'll appreciate more knowing who they are as well. The series started with the Xarc'n Warrior series (1newsletter exclusive book+8books) that series is set in the city. This spinoff series Xarc'n Warriors:Mountains, is simply set in the mountains and that's the only difference
(1newsletter exclusive+book1+this book#2).
If you want to read the free newsletter exclusive books you can sign up for the authors newsletter (with the link inside the book or author homepage), that's what I did & it was totally worth it. I recommend this series and this book, for sci-fi romance fans. Due to hilarious shenanigans, some sailor language, and Red hot scenes I suggest for adult audiences. It never goes to deep dark places and always has consent.

Backstory: Giant space bugs invade Earth and start decimating things. The Xarc'n Warriors (purple musclebound aliens with horns, fangs, claws, tails and extra stuff) show up to fight them off but Earth's government stands in their way until society collapses. Afterwards, the warriors step in to save Earth, but having had to wait means the bugs have multiplied and it's not going to be easy. These warriors were made in a lab by their ancestors, specifically to be weapons and nothing more. First, their ancestors made the bugs (called scourge) to use as a weapon and lost control of them. So that's why they made the Xarc'n Warriors, to hunt down and fix that mistake. The warriors are to follow the bugs throughout space and time, destroying them at all costs. They are not seen as having feelings or needs of their own. They've never been shown kindness or allowed to have fun. Only males were needed to fight, so only male clones were made. Though their ancestors died out long ago, these warriors have never known anything different. While on Earth fighting the bugs, they find compatible females for the first time ever and start to want more for themselves. They're experiencing a lot of firsts. Their reactions to pet companions are priceless and uber sweet. The culture clashes are hilarious, the action and adventure abundant, and always a beautiful backdrop of romance. They try really hard, can be totally clueless at times, yet still pull off the alpha vibe.

This book: Features May, a female human who is used to traveling alone throughout the bugapocalypse, used to anyone she cares about dying, used to picking up the peices and soldiering on alone, and honestly scared to trust or get close to anyone again. She was taken by mean raiders into their camp, and is trying to survive and make the best of things, once again. She's a smart and tough gal. But it's not easy, they stole all her stuff (one nasty girl in particular rubs it in her face), won't let her leave and barely feed her while making her do tons of chores. If anyone steps out of line they are forced to fight the bugs in the arena, which means a gruesome death and is not an option. When May gets put on guard duty, watching the alien ship the raiders "aquired", she meets Xik'n on the vidcom. Xik'n is a Xarc'n Warrior who has been tasked with retrieving the stolen ship. He made a vid call to the stolen ship on the off-chance someone would pick up. May picked up. They start talking daily and trying to find a way for May to escape with the ship. May doesn't quite trust the Xarc'n Warrior but she has to get herself and the few survivors she trusts out of there before they're killed. Once Xik'n teaches her about the ship and how to fly it, she has options. Learning how to hypothetically fly an alien ship is a lot diff than actually doing it, and she hopes she doesn't get them all caught or crashed. When the Raiders threaten a fellow survivor, practically a kid, May takes the chance and escapes with her friends. Only she doesn't trust the Xarc'n Warrior so she doesn't meet him as promised. Now she's got the Raiders after her, and a Xarc'n warrior, and she has to watch out for the bugs while finding them all a safe shelter and provisions. No biggee right? Throw in a bunch of side plots, villians, allies, a fun adventure involving motorcycles and much more. Will Xik'n be able to find May and save her, before her enemies catch up? And if so, how can he convince her he's trustworthy and get her to stay? It's a fun adventure that will keep you turning the pages with a smirk.

If you have to pick only one book to read, I'd def say pick Xarc'n Warriors book 7 (Captured by the Hunter). It's guaranteed to put a cheesy smile on your face and lift your spirits for days. I have bought most of the books in this series for my keeper shelf, my least favorite books in the series were book 6 and 8 of the Xarc'n Warrior series, they dealt with atleast some fear or trauma and that's not my thing- but they are still better than most sci-fi romance out there. The rest I have completely adored. If I had to compare the series to a similar one I've read before, I'd say either Ruby Dixon's Ice Planet Barbarians series or Regine Abel's Prime Mating Agency Series (if you havnt read them you need too!). I think reviews should be helpful and truthful or what's the point in them. Happy reading!

This book was brilliant and I love the old and new characters coming together and fighting against a common enemy. May is with a group of raiders what doesn’t let the females out of the cave that they live in. Everyone is sick and tired of eating slop while the leaders are eating like kings and if you argue you now end up in the arena fighting for your life against bugs. Now my new duty is watching a screen in warrior’s shuttle and if anything happened you had to report it to Geoff and them the screen beeped and then face of an Xarc’n warrior’s is looking at her and she knows she should tell the others but she doesn’t and each shift they would talk and he teaches her how to fly the shuttle and in hopes to save her and the others. Finally they escape and after some time the end up at the lodge with the other humans and warrior’s that live together. There friends with benefits works well because they don’t want a relationship but it starts to change and it becomes more. There is action, suspense, drama, strength, passion, kindness, hope, and yes love but it takes a lot of patience and drive to bring our new couple together even when it could be gone in a blink of an eye. Fantastic book and a must read.

Xik'n came to Earth with his contingent hoping for a new future. He isn't looking for a mate but has joined a mixed group of hunters and humans settled in the mountains. He's assigned to retrieve a shuttle from raiders and instead finds a human woman that intrigues him.

May was from Edmonton, Canada. When the scourge hit, she grabbed her hiking and camping gear and headed south. Along the way she found and lost groups who had banded together. Each loss hit her harder and harder, to protect her heart she no longer wants to form any deep connections.

After being 'saved' by raiders May quickly realizes how dangerous they are but is not able to escape. While working to find a way to get away, shuttle monitoring duty puts her into contact with a Hunter who teaches her how to use the shuttle to escape.

Two people not looking for mates, find their perfect partner amongst bug attacks, a crazed clone, and freeing people being held by raiders. A lot going on amongst tender, heartfelt moments as these two get closer and closer.

Another great addition to the Xarc'n world.

I enjoyed this alien romance story with all of the characters. The main characters were May and Xik'N

May is a human woman that lives on earth. Earth has been invaded by critters that have a bug like to them. Plus some alien have can to earth to.
The alien have sharp teeth and horns and they seem to be friendly. They been helping to kill the bug critters. May and other human have been hiding out in the mountains. But not all of the humans living with May are nice. When hostile human turn on May and some of her friends. May steals on of the alien shuttle that the humans had there. She learned to fly it from an alien that was communicating with her.

Xik'n is an alien warrior. He has come to a mountain that has humans living in tunnels. He is looking for a space shuttle that was lost. While trying to communicate with the lost shuttle he her a woman voice over the transmission.

This was a fun story to read. It had action, suspense, adventure and secrets throughout it. It had me laughing throughout it.

Muscled, purple, hot, alien protector with horns and special eggplant - yes! Xik’n (H) is a Xarc'n hunter who is protecting the mountains area from the bug scourge. May (h) is held in the raider's compound and luckily gets assigned shuttle duty - she has to watch and report on map movement in the captured Xarc'n shuttle. While on duty she come in contact with Xik'n who helps her engineer an escape using the shuttle. Both May and Xik'n are clear that they want no permanent relationship but are open to a casual sexual relationship, if that's how you can describe the hot, steamy, and intense sexy scenes. May isn't even planning on sticking around and plans on leaving the mountain ledge community, much to his dismay as Xik’n is growing to care more and more for May. Lots of good fighting against the enemy bugs to safeguard the mountains and its denizens. Fun to see characters from past books/series. This second book in the Xarc'n Warriors: Mountains series should be read after the first to get a better feel and ideally read it after the original Xarc'n series.

The human are trying to survive the bugpocalypse. Bugs that invaded Earth and destroyed the world. Everyone is just trying to survive by savaging food, water, shelter and clothing.
May is independent and travels alone. She doesn’t stay long in places. She doesn’t want to form attachments to anyone. So she will just walk away.
In this encampment there is a Xarc’n shuttle. She is allowed in the shuttle. She begins a dialogue with a Xarc’n warrior Xik’n. He is teaching her about how to operate the shuttle.
Xik’n is a Xarc’n warrior. He is purple muscle with black horns fighting machine. He has been designed to fight the bug invaders. He is not looking for his fated mated. He helps May fly the shuttle and escape the human encampment.
Together the have a steamy connection but neither is looking for forever. Surviving the bug invasion is an everyday battle. Does incorporate couples from the other bugpocalypse books.
Has a HEA.

May came to the Colorado Rockies all the way from Canada. She traveled through the bugpocalypse and met a lot of good people along the way that ultimately died whenever the giant alien bugs attacked. She learned not to get too attached to people as she fought to survive in the new normal. Then she met Xik’n, the bad-ass Xarc’n warrior that had eyes for no one else but her.

Changing the learned survival behavior that had kept her alive so far was a challenge for May. Lucky for her, Xik’n was patient and persistent. I loved their HEA.

Life in the bugpocalypse is changing. There is hope brewing for a better tomorrow for humanity and the Xarc’n.

“Here on this planet, millions of miles from where we began, Xarc’n warriors were something more. We did not destroy; we rebuilt.” — Xik’n

Excellent series. Hope they turn these stories into audiobooks at some point.

May has ended up with a group of humans who seem to have lost their grip on their own humanity. They are all to willing to lay the blame for anything bad on the Xarc'n hunters regardless of proof that these very warriors are protetcting them. The leaders have no time for anyone other than themselves and their beliefs. If you don't agree you are thrown into the arena, which boasts captive scourge. Nice! May is realising that she needs to get out and those who feel the same way as she does but she needs a plan and possibly a large badass purple warrior? Xic'n was been trying to formulate a plan to get the Hunter ship back which has been taken into the human compound. Imagine his surprise when a response comes through to his message and that message is sent by a rather delectable human female. Now his primary mission is somewhat fading into the background as may becomes more his object of focus. So the question now is how can he get the shuttle AND the girl??.

I just like these. Her warriors are big, strong, Alpha males. By big- think 7 feet of muscle. They are pushy, dominant, protective, but also 100 % consensual, and very loving. They are not well versed in human customs, so there are plenty of humorous things that pop up. If you like the alien trope, these are good.
They battle giant planet destroying alien bugs, 4 feet high and some 20 feet long. ugh.
May has tried to not get attached to people or stay in one spot since she has lost everyone she ever loved. Xik'n falls for her and is trying to get her to choose a life with him rather than alone forever to protect her heart.
I like May she was little and fierce. I picture her as a 4'8" to 5" tall Chinese/Japanese woman with a swishing black ponytail. She smacked a violent man in the back to save her friend. Why did she smack him in the back? She couldn't reach any higher. Spunky...

wished for some differences

The human female and male characters had bones to be terrific but author needed to add more to them to be awesome. Felt like this story was almost change details but same as many others in the different series.
Wish she would have spent more time on depth of them both rather then rest of world. By now if you read the other series you do not a repeat of most of the info. Not mentioned was the other town that was cleared successfully, and the scientific discovery and testing of the chemicals to fight the bugs and fungus. By the time of this story it should have been spread.
Frankly want to move to new series. How about one in area that the humans always worked with the aliens to fight the invasion and now are testing natural chemicals and methods to combat them. Then make them travel to other areas spreading news, and helping to clear places, one at a time.

Since the bug-apocalypse, May has been traveling from Canada into the mountains of the United States. Although she has traveled with different groups but has always ended up alone. Now the Raiders have "rescued" her. The Raiders assign May to watch the screen of a shuttle they recovered and she sees a blinking icon on the screen. When she touches it, a screen opens up and she comes face to face with a terrifying purple Xarc'n humter, XIK'n. He teaches May how to fly the shuttle to help her escape. Though neither is looking for a mate there is an attraction and they work well together. So, maybe friends with benefits. But eventually he wants more. The book is full of action, sizzle, steam, twists, and a few turns. A great addition to the Xarc'n Warriors series by Lynnea Lee. And all the Xarc'n Warriors series is available to read Kindle Unlimited. Enjoy them all.

First came the bugs!

First came the bugs, then came the Xarc’n warriors. May has spent a lot of time on the road, sometimes with alone, sometimes with a group but this latest group isn’t a good place to be and she’s keeping her head down and doing what she’s told while she waits for a chance to get out. When she’s assigned to watch the captured space shuttle she meets Xik’n. His job is to retrieve the shuttle and to not get caught and if he happens to find May another attraction that’s good too. But May is forced to leave sooner than she planned, so it’s good thing he helped her figure out how to fly the shuttle. But now Xik’n will have to try and find her. Fast paced read with likable characters although there wasn’t as much detail about the overall story arc in this one. This is a standalone that focuses primarily on May and Xik’n relationship. Would like to have had more about the overall war. Still enjoyable.

I am absolutely loving this series. I enjoyed the first series of the Xarc’n Warriors in the town now these ones in the mountains are just as exciting and full of action as they deal with the bugs that have taken over earth. Xik’n doesn’t want a mate, that is until he meets May who also doesn’t want a relationship until she meets Xik’n and nearly loses him because of the people in the mountain compound who take everyone who can be useful to them and send those who won’t benefit them to the arena for sport. There are rescue missions and mini battles with the bugs and a division in the mountain retreat. I was unable to put the book down until I had read the final page. Well worth reading and there is the usual amount of hot sexy scenes and a happy ending for this couple and a baby on the way.

Loved this series and I loved reading this story about May who traveled from Canada to the mountain encampment. Along the way she met many people; good and bad. The journey was fraught with bugs where people died that changed May to be a loner inside and out. Then May meets Xik’n a Xarc’n warrior when talking to him on an abandon shuttle who has been assigned to retrieve it in the possession of a human encampment not fond of Xarc'n warriors. Xik'n knows about mates but has no wish to have one. What occurs when they meet was another story I couldn't put down. The romance was dreamy, the action is full of buggy fighting and the humans who want the shuttle back, and the chemistry between May and Xik'n and their personal interactions kept me glued as I read this ARC that I received and volunteer to read and review via Booksprout.

Excellent continuation to the series. This story features May and Xik'n.
May is a wonderful character. She has survived any way she can. Has lost friends but also found new ones. She is always traveling to keep one step from the bugs. Living in the caves with the "raiders" is not idea but until she has options she is stuck. Again she keeps her head down and survives. Willing to help others even at her own peril is what makes her a strong person.
Xik'n is not looking for a mate. He too is a strong alien. He lives for the hunt and killing the bugs.
The adventure and eventual HEA was great. I love the twists, especially the one towards the end of their story. I did not see that coming. But it was great.
As with all of the books in this series , no cliffhanger and an enchanting HEA.

I really liked this story. It was entertaining and enjoyable although it does talk about people being held against their will. The characters were interesting and likable for the most part. The feels in this story were easy to relate to and quite varied. Xik'n wasn't looking for a mate but he wouldn't mind getting to know May a little better. May wasn't looking for anything long-term so what could it hurt to get to know Xik'n a lot better. Unfortunately for both of them (or fortunately for both of them!), their plans didn't work the way they thought. There was drama, adventure, comedy, horror, steamy romance, and more! I loved their happily ever after. I would have loved to have another epilogue further out, but that's because I'm greedy and wanted more. I recommend reading this book.

This book is as good as the other Xarc'n warrior books. I love how these purple, horned aliens fight for their mates and protect human around them. They are loving and caring and exactly what everyone woman wants in a man. Xik'n is no different when he has his sight set on May. May is a survivor that has thought carefully of each move and never wanting to close to anyone so she can avoid the heartache when they died. Xik'n changed that for May, he protected her and taught her to use a Xarc'n shuttle and helped escape the evil humans and alien bugs. Neither thought they wanted mates but fate had other ideals for these two.
