Autobiography of the record-breaking track star of the 1930's, severely burned in a schoolhouse fire as a child, who later operated a youth ranch for homeless boys and girls.
I have just finished this book and I believe that it is a GREAT book. I loved this books quote NEVER QUIT it sends a great message, even when you are down in the dumps or everything you use to do is now difficult to accomplish Never Quit. I would recommend this book to anyone who love true, unbelieving stories.
I've read this book many, many times. It's the first book I remember my father giving to me. I think I was in the 4th grade that year. I've read it to my older children and today (3/23/20) I finished reading it to Naomi and Julia.
A quick and uplifting read. The story of the fire that killed Glenn Cunningham’s brother and damaged his own legs is heartbreaking. The strength and tenacity he showed to become a record-breaking track star is inspiring. Highly recommended. Special bonus: my used copy is autographed by the man himself!
I thought this was a great, quick, inspirational read. This guy is/was amazing-- the things he accomplished in life were exceptional. A great motivational book!
I grew up listening to a Story Hour audio cassette about "Little Bad Legs". It was fascinating to read about him, and his amazing story. The life of hardship and pain he and his family endured makes anything I've ever gone through seem like fluff.
A very quick read.
(One swear word during the first chapter as Mr. Cunningham describes one of the troubled boys he helped.)
