A study of why and how things go wrong, as exemplified in an entertaining and instructive collection of military misjudgments and incompetence. A fascinating, carefully presented compendium supplemented with illustrations and "famous last words ("Well, don't worry about it" American officer at Pearl Harbor observing blips on a radar screen). Of interest beyond the military buff audience. Annotation copyright Book News, Inc. Portland, Or.
It's good, but I can't read it through in one sitting. My library lets you take a book for 3 weeks. I have borrowed this twice now and still have some to go. More like Geoffery Regan's Book Of ALL THE Military Blunders IN ALL OF RECORDED HISTORY. I mean I get it, but it gets old after a while. All the stories are interesting but, there are just so many. I can only read 1-2 stories about (Pick a subject, overconfidence, poor planning, reconnaissance, etc.) before I've had enough. Now if this is your thing you know what your in for.
