Christmas is not so merry for Kate and Leah. Kate's romantic winter holiday is destroyed by the sudden and uninvited presence of Dix's annoying ex-wife, while Brandon's super-perfect family and a diamond ring send Leah running for the refuge of a girls' vacation with Kate to Sin City. But Dix and Brandon both know what they want. In hot pursuit, the men show up in Vegas, ready to use every sensual trick they have to convince Kate and Leah to take a gamble on forever. Four days in Vegas, two sexy and determined men, one penthouse suite, and no reservations make for one wild ride.

I loved this story enough to give 5 stars , altho maybe the 5 stars were given because I just love the characters of Leah and Brandon. If you haven't read the first book *Taking Care of Business* you really should as it introduces us to both couples and their background stories....why they are like they are, if you like....
So its now Christmas, Kate and Dix are spending the holidays holed up at Dixs' holiday house, meanwhile Leah is with Brandon at his parents (not so good for her, as she's not into happy family stuff, it scares her to death, plus shes conscious of the fact that shes sharing a room with Brandon need I say any more!) However the Happy Holidays do not last long, and when Kates worst nightmare rears it's head and Kate can take no more, shes off, with Leah needing no encouragment to follow. Dix and Brandon have instructions not to follow....but men being men Dix encourages Brandon to back down, disobey instructions and go after their women....The girls have gone to Vegas, and what follows is funny sassy, and sexy. Theres a Fetish convention going on and whilst Leah is wary (she's been there before) Brandons all eager to take a look, and maybe treat himself t osomething he's seen. Meanwhile Dix and Kate hit the clubs and get dirty. The ending is great as both couples strengthen their bonds and so overcome their fears/ worst nightmares.
The thought the storylines for each couple were individual enough to hold my interest, and the sex is hotter than hot and theres alot of it! With graphic in-between the sheets action more or less in every chapter, this book is more erotic than the last one,so if you don't like lots of sex this may not be for you. Nothing icky tho' and one (or was it two?) fun scene in a public place.
I loved it!

Perhaps it's just me, but I like a little plot with my sex. Why does this book have high ratings?
How TWO writers were unable to get this right is beyond me. Leah and Kate are condescending, selfish and crude. Dix is horribly annoying. Brandon is the only character that is even remotely likeable, and I ended up not liking him because he’s with someone like Leah. He seems completely out of place in this book and I wanted to save him from the pages of this mess.
The dialogue is horrible and unrealistic. It’s stuck somewhere between the lingo of a seventeen year old girl and a cheesy historical romance novel. The plot is lacking…two women admit they have their version of the perfect man, but won’t marry/move in/whatever these guys because if they did that we wouldn’t need 222 pages of two successful powerful women going at it like rabbits with said men all while proclaiming their girl power and going on about how much they don’t need these men.
I get that this is a novel of erotic fiction, but did I really need to read about someone having earth shattering orgasms every five pages? If I wanted that I could have watched porn. After the third grinding session it all starts reading the same (figuratively and literally) and becomes quite banal. It is a book after all, I was hoping for some of the things that go along with books besides just words.
It’s just bad. If you’re looking for redundant sex scenes, bad dialogue, flat characters and no plot, then by all means, read this.
Okay Where to start, i dont wanna give to much away!! But i Freaking Loved this book!! it was a Fantastic story and i loved it from the first page to the last!! This book has the same characters as Taking Care of Business, so make sure to read that first as it introduces them all, it will help you understand what their issues are in this book.
It is not very often that I read an erotica book that can boast really hot sex scenes along with ones that have you laughing out loud. Leah and Kate are back and it seems like they have settled into their relationships with Brandon and Dix, until something happens to freak out each one, causing the women to run to Vegas to commiserate with each other. It is in Vegas after the guys come for them that both couples face what is going on with them and finally fix it.
Kate and her razor sharp tongue against Pickles, makes for the funny scenes. She pretty much goes off on her, and the woman deserves it, to anyone that will listen. Leah, has to face her own BDSM fears, as when the ladies land in Vegas there is a conference with those themes taking over the city, allowing for some equally funny scenes when the women run into the crazier aspects.
This was such a fun read, that I hope we hear more from these couples!!
In "Taking Care of Business" is the first book were we are introduced to Leah and Kate. Leah left her boyfriend and is now looking forward to having time with her best friend Kate, however they both have to survive a conference. There she meets Brandon Long. Where she quickly sets the rules of their non relationship of making her happy. Kate Edwards has spent her life making the right choices. But in contrast to those right choices, she's involved in a long distance, secret love affair with a coworker. Charles Dixon is a bad choice she can't help but make—over and over.
Now in No Reservations, Leah and Kate have been in the realtionship for about six months. Leah loves that Brandon is submissive to her, but they are not into hard core Dom and Sub. She just likes being in control. Brandon and Leah are at his parents for the holidays and that is where Leah find a ring, and she know that Brandon wants to ask her to marry him. Leah loves Brandon but for her there are things to consider. She is older than he is and though it doesn't seem to bother him or his family she worries about it. So she runs and calls Kate to come with her. Kate is at Dix's family vacation home with him and his daughters to get to know the girls better, when his ex wife shows up and makes Kate's life a living hell especially after walking in Dix's and Kate's room right after they just had sex. So Kate is all for leaving the situation.
In Vegas the girls are relaxing when Dix and Brandon show up. They are determined for the girls to know they mean business in all shapes and sizes.
I loved the story, we would see what happened with Leah and Brandon and then pick up with Kate and Dix. The men were hilarious and as always Kate and Leah show what it truly means to have a best friend. I hope that Megan Hart and Lauren Dane write another story with these couples in it.
I can forgive lack of plot in erotica if A-The sex is smokin' or B-The characters are well fleshed out and likable. This book had none of the above. I so wanted to like this book, but just found the heroines abrasive, the set up a little too eye-rolling and the rest of the characters completely one dimensional. I understand there are constraints due to the shorter length of the story, but I felt like smacking the heroines more often than not.
I enjoyed both books in this quick, steamy easy to read series.
I don't love British authors writing from an American perspective cause they tend to use words and phrases that are not American, so it throws off a sentence or point. But once I got passed that I enjoyed the book(s). Didn't like the rushed ending, it could have gone to a third book and given us the nice full detailed happy ending.
Loved that a woman was the dominant without being cliche dominatrix. Also enjoyed the other storyline with the new wife having a backbone and trying to make a blended family work. It was refreshing!
I'll be generous and give it a 2 as I didn't completely hate it. However, it's not a good book either. I like my smut to have a plot to go with the sex scenes, and this definitely didn't have one! Thankfully, on the plus side, it's quite short at 222 pages with short chapters. Maybe it would have benefitted from one of the lead females narrating her half of the book, I don't know. In summary, this makes '50 Shades' look really good.
This was the follow-up book to Taking Care of Business. Although I did enjoy Taking Care of Business better, this book was still very enjoyable!! In No Reservations, Kate and Leah are both stuck in awkward situations with their men Dix and Brandon. Kate is spending a wonderful holiday with Dix when his ex-wife, Eve, also known as Pickles, shows up uninvited. Eager to get away from Pickles and her pawning on her previous husband, Kate calls up Leah and invites her to come with her to Vegas for the remainder of the holiday. Leah is only too happy to oblige being that she is feeling anxious and overwhelmed at the kindness of Brandon's family, who they happen to be staying with for the holidays. It doesn't take long for the men to go after their women and when they do it explodes into some seriously funny dialog and scorching hot sex! I was very happy to read more about both of these couples, but particularly thrilled with following up with Kate and Dix. I love Kate's no B.S. attitude and that she's confident and sexy with who she is and what she wants. I adore the character of Dix. Seriously, where is this man? I love reading his dialog with Kate, he talks so dirty to her at some times and other times he's tender and praising that it makes me swoon. This book was a quick light read with a HEA for both couples. There is LOTS of hot sex in it with a couple of public displays of affection that were particularly steamy! Five stars!
This co-authored novel from Black Lace tells the tale of Kate and Leah, two women spending Christmas with their respective boyfriends. Unfortunately, they're not having the best of times. Kate's ideal Christmas is spoilt by the arrival of Dix's poisonous ex-wife, who seems to forget that she's his ex. Leah, on the other hand is stuck with Brandon and his perfect family who all seem to adore her. Then she finds a diamond ring.
The two women decide to make a run for it and spend some time together in Las Vegas and hopefully decide what to do about their respective troubles while they're there. However, the two men aren't going to take this desertion lying down and they follow their women to Sin City to make their intentions clear, and fight for their happy ever afters. What follows is a seriously fun and super sexy romp, which is also packed with feelings, lifestyles and planning for happy futures.
This is an erotic romance with a difference, and I'd recommend it to anyone looking to read a super well-written book with fun, sex and romance all snuggled between the covers.
I felt like this book was superior to its predecessor, Taking Care of Business. I really appreciate a book in which the reader gets to see beyond the happily ever afters, for not one but two couples, and this book is very satisfying.
My favorite couple is Brandon and Leah, which really speaks to the authors' talents because not only is it an older woman/younger man story, but also a female dominant one, both of which are usually immediate turn-offs for me. But I hope this doesn't discourage other readers because their story is soft and sexy and very emotional. Leah's struggling with commitment issues while Brandon hopes to move their relationship forward.
The other couple, Dix and Kate, are battling Dix's baggage in the form of a vicious ex-wife and two teenage daughters. In all of the chaos, Kate and Leah take off to Vegas right before New Year's, and their guys, unwilling to let them run, track them down. There's a lot to love about both these couples and each of their stories, and this built upon the foundation of the first novel. I'd love a return to them sometime in the future since both Leah and Brandon and Kate and Dix left quite an impression on me.
Picked this book up at my local paperback traders it was a good quick read. The chapters bounce back and forth between two girlfriends over the Christmas/NYE holiday. I loved Kate's spunkiness and how she called her boyfriend's, Dix, ex-wife Pickles. As I read the book I did feel as though I plopped into a middle of a story ... it was like I received the middle and the ending with a pinch of the beginning. Overall an enjoyable read.
I hadn't read the first in the series but honestly, you didn't really have to.
I didn't really like any of the characters. Kate was selfish and bitchy - and demanding, Dix was annoying. Leah confused me and that other character - he didn't really seem to have much of a point except to be Leah's bed partner.
I just didn't really feel this book.
The sex was hot but there was just too much of it so that by the end of the book it was repetitive.
Kate und Leah. Zwei Frauennamen.
Sorry.

Really sad that I didn't stop reading with book #1 in this series, because this extension of Leah & Brandon and Dix & Kate's romances was a major turn-off. Kate and Dix are about to get married, but Dix's ex is throwing major wrenches into the planning. Brandon's ready to pop the question to Leah during a Thanksgiving visit to his family, but Leah is finding the wholesomeness of "Bingo's" parents and relatives terrifying. When Leah admits her panic to Kate, Kate suggests they both ditch both their situations and take a mini-break in Las Vegas.
And they end up staying at a hotel that's hosting a kink convention...
Dix and Brandon follow their girls, and win them back, amidst lots of sex both kinky and vanilla.
Kate came across as appealingly aggressive in book #1. But in this one, she's far more foul-mouthed, and far more cruel to Dix's ex. Said ex seems deliberately constructed as flatly villainous, just to give Kate the opportunity to bad mouth and insult her. I've seen this in other Lauren Dane books I've read, this cruel, totally-lacking-in-compassion depictions of people at odds with the hero or heroine, and I haven't liked it there. And I don't admire it here. Too much Dane and not enough Hart in this one for my liking.
I never thought I would say this, but there was too much sex (TMS) in this book. I never thought I'd skim past hot sex,but at some point it became pointless and repetitive. And ideally I don't need pages of description of guys giving oral pleasure to their girlfriends. Dix and Brandon were great boyfriends and all. Kate and Leah were one dimensional characters, so hard to like.
The authors have both written better books later in their careers,so I will read more recent novels from now on.
What happens in Vegas..Well Leah and Kate know how to have fun and when they each get a surprise visit from their men...it gets so steamy HOT. Dix and Brandon show their gals that they can't live without them!
I feel really bad for Kate and Leah, when everything goes wrong. I didn't like Dix and Brandon in the beginning. I like Brandon and Dix in the end, since they pursued Kate and Leah relentlessly. I really liked this book. I think it was a sizzling hot romance.
I thought this was good. However, I didn't like it nearly as much as Taking Care of Business. As much as I was happy to hear that we would get more of a wrap-up with Kate & Leah's relationships, I also sort of think that about 50 more pages in the other book could've about wrapped things up nicely and this book wouldn't really have been needed. Or perhaps simply do one entire book for Kate and then one for Leah instead of jumping back and forth.
In a way though, I can see why their stories were told in conjunction because it gave a really good contrast between both of their relationships and how they are at different ends of the spectrum in terms of who likes to be in charge (the man or the women) in the bedroom.
In some ways I think that Kate & Leah are sort of unbelievable characters though. As females, these two are ridiculously horny. While I know I'm reading an erotic novel, I still think it's almost a bit too much for these two. They're both VERY sexual people, and I just think some of their traits and actions aren't really realistic in terms of what most females would do.
That being said, I absolutely loved both Dix and Brandon. I would have to say that Brandon is my favorite of the two. But they both have things I love about them. As partners, they're both extremely attentive, caring, and loving.
It was also nice to be able to see Kate/Dix and Leah/Brandon as real relationships. If you take out the insane amount of sex they have with each other, these could be real relationships with actual problems. I liked that it wasn't so much a HEA after Taking Care of Business, but this shows that it takes work.
So overall, I enjoyed this book and it was quite steamy. But at the same time I would have either preferred a slightly longer Taking Care of Business or two separate books for Kate and Leah.

I enjoyed this book so much more than the first one. Taking Care of Business, in my opinion, got really boring in more than one place and I found myself skimming over a lot of the storyline. At first I really liked Leah and Brandon and was a little bored by Kate and Dix's relationship. But about half way through the first book, all of my previous feelings did a 180. Leah very quickly got on my nerves. I totally appreciate that she has her own sexual preferences and that Brandon was 100% on board, I just felt like she was treating a really good guy like crap. That continued on into this book. It was just the little things she would say or do. Like she loved getting home because Brandon had completed the massive list of chores she had left him to do, had done all her laundry and had cooked her dinner. CHORES! Is she having a bloody laugh! He's supposed to be your boyfriend not your own personal slave!. I understand that some people like to lives this way but to me she just seemes way too bossy and the more I read of their story, the more I wanted to shout at Brandon to run in the other direction. She was really irrational, running off and hurting his feelings because she was so worried about...... oh wait...nothing.
On a lighter note I absolutely loved Kate and Dix. Yes Kate did her fair share of running away but she actually had real concerns. How could she compete with his past? A marriage, a wife, children. His ex wife Eve was not taking the hint that she wasn't wanted and was constantly trying to seduce Dix when she knew full well he was dating Kate, then when that didn't work she stated to turn the kids against them. She was a real piece of work. Having to deal with a partners ex on an irregular basis would be bad enough but when said ex barges into your bedroom whilst your having sex... a massive no no! One thing that gave this book an extra star for me was the amazing sex scenes and there were plenty of them. They weren't just the same scenes repeated over and over again, they were completely different every time. A great, easy and steamy read.
This book was even more of a disappointment than the first. I just want to say I hate Leah, she is such a selfish bitch and does not deserve Brandon. I'm used to being annoyed with characters in books, but rarely do I actually hate a character, but oh after every extremely selfish thing Leah did I hated her a little more. Regardless that she didn't want to put a title on the BDSM relationship she obviously shared with Brandon, that's what it was. The first rule to those types of relationships is trust. Trust from the person submitting to know that their submission won't be abused, and that all decisions are made with what they need in mind. Leah didn't give a damn for what Brandon needed, she just got off on knowing he liked doing things for her, and that's all she cared about 99% of the time. I don't even know how to really express how angry that made me. The ending again felt forced, just a few sentences were put together for that little pretty bow again, with no real closure. While Kate and Dix got an ending that took 15 minutes to read with real closure, Leah and Brandon again got a chapter that took 5 minutes to read. The "growth" that Leah did at the end about making sure she didn't take Brandon for granted again was so insincere and just plain laughable. Ugh!
While Kate and Dix were boring in the first book, they were much better in this one. The drama with the ex wife was realistic, and somewhat interesting.
Sequel... to what happens after you fall in love... how to find the 'ever after' in happily ever after... two modified dominatrix and sex in public stories... hot, and lots of, sex...
Brandon and Leah - she struggles a bit with her new perception of herself as controlling... and her age in relation to Brandon... he struggles a bit in needing the full commitment... she goes home for Christmas with him, and finds an engagement ring in his suitcase... and runs to vegas to think...
Katherine and Dix... he's the dominant one in bed, she likes sex where they almost get caught... she respects that being Dad is a priority... and she resists moving in together and/or getting married; his 'feeble' exwife is still wanting him back, and is now using the kids to manipulate dad and his time. Kate puts up a wall - she needs to talk to her, not Dix, if she wants something from Dix (change in kid's schedule, fix her sink, etc)... and when ex shows up at the cabin during his Christmas week with the girls, she heads to Vegas with Leah...
and the men follow them... and they work things out... and alls well that ends well.
I really don’t like writing all negative comments in my reviews, and I am trying to think of good things, but I’m really drawing a blank. No Reservations was a good read once you get through all the sex, but I’m just not feeling it. I can see a lot of potential for some great conflicts with Pickles (Kate’s nemesis) and Mike (Leah’s ex), but they were barely in the novel and I have to say I loved the scenes when she was.
Overall, No Reservations was good, but I would suggest buying Taking Care of Business and then finding this one at the library. I am really just not feeling it for some reason.
I think I enjoyed this book more than Taking Care of Business, and I laughed at Pickles and Kate a lot in this book. It's nice to know I'm not the only one with ex issues, and that I'm not the only one who gets so angry with helpless women (even if Kate is only a fictional character)! But I again just found Leah to be bitchy and annoying. She wants to be in control, but then she can't handle it, and she doesn't want to treat Brandon like he's a thing that she owns, but I feel like she does that esp. by pushing him away all the time like his feelings and wants don't matter. And I greatly dislike that she bosses him around in their normal every day lives. Maybe Brandon is ok with that, but outside the bedroom, she should not control him. She just irks me!
This book was a sex-fest! Almost non-stop action, either people doing it or talking about it or thinking about it. All that aside, it was actually a pretty good romance book. There were two stories about two different couples (the ladies were best friends, so the stories overlapped). Dix and Kate were HOT HOT HOT. I liked that they had no internal conflict - no questions about whether they should be together, etc. You could just tell she was it for him. Brandon & Leah, on the other hand, weren't as excellent. Brandon was super sweet and a hottie, but it was very hard for me to view Leah as the dom in a dom/sub relationship. She just seemed to wishy-washy and insecure sometimes, and then others she was right out there. Not a keeper, but definitely worth the read!
A fitting follow-up to Taking Care of Business, but I am a greedy reader and I wanted MORE. More relationship dialogue and not just because Dix and Kate hit a little too close to home. I appreciated the glimpse into the reality of so many fathers just trying to stay a viable part of the children's lives not the minority of fathers who choose not to for which the rest are judged. I was also intrigued with the concept of a submissive male who physically dwarfs most people. Not my cuppa but it made for a goodread.
I adored this book. I enjoyed the first book TAKNG CARE OF BUSINESS where we met Leah and Katherine and their men. For me it was good but not scream worthy. I picked up NO RESERVATIONS because I just couldn't resist and let me tell you I'm thrilled that I did.
It was great seeing Leah and Katherine again and seeing how much they've grown in their relationships. I was happy to see how strong the women were as individuals and maybe the first time around with TAKING CARE OF BUSINESS I just didn't get it. The resolution of their problems and the ending was everything I hoped it would be.
Again, sticking to my promise of not reading any books that don't move me beyond the free trial, I decided to abandon this book. I was more interested in Leah and Brandon in book one then Kate and Dix. The trial starts out with Kate & Dix and to be honest I just don't find them very interesting... Like, at all... Also, I found that book one was more focused on mailto:Natasha.taylor@eastlink.caKate and Dix, that is to say, it seemed that their storyline was more important and in an effort to not have to repeat reading that, I'm just gonna pass
