I like Barbados rum, old, fast motorcycles, playing guitar and books by authors like Michael Connelly, Robert Crais, Alex Berenson, Craig Johnson and Lee Child. I write action/adventure thrillers. WHITE JADE is the first in a series featuring the PROJECT, a small, elite counter-terrorism unit. There are currently 23 books in the series.

An assignation attempt of President James Rice but was unsuccessful because the president tripped over a cord on his way to the podium. Multiple attempts at eliminating members of The Project, Nick Carter, Selena Connor, Ronny Peete, Lamont Cameron and Director Elizabeth Harker, were attempted. Both of these acts are connected; but how? To discover this, members of The Project travel from the United States to the Czech Republic, Portugal, Mexico, Italy, and Russia in search for the proof of a conspiracy against the United States and the Russian Federation. They see themselves as an immune system for what ails the modern world. Like James Bond, the group is given state-of-the-art equipment and manages to shuttle, damage, or destroy it on their missions (this may explain why the US deficit is so high).
Malcolm Foxworth is a British-born multimillionaire, a leader of AEON (a secret worldwide society), and is determined to rule the world; his way. He and his AEON associates have developed a new weapon. A weapon based on designs by Nicola Tesla made more than a century before. The weapon produces a high-energy particle beam that vaporizes its target.

This is a high-paced thriller that is sure to keep you guessing. This is the fifth book in The Project Series and, like its companions, a doomsday scenario with world security in the balance. The premise is interesting and full of potential. A vast array of colorful characters makes fascinating reading. I can’t help but think how many of these unknown governmental organizations that keep these clandestine plots against peace at bay. One question remains unanswered. Who is Adam?
Like all the Alex Lukeman I’ve read, I highly recommend it to all techno-thriller lovers.

More intrique and government underhandedness. Personal issues come to the fore in this book which make things more real, and a thoroughly good read.
The two (very minor) issues that I thought detracted were the character Adam (more secrecy around government and agencies, reminiscent of the X Files' Smoking Man) and a couple of paragraphs mid-book that convey a passing of time (cue montage music if a TV show), and this takes the edge off of the action.
But an essential part of the overall story that ends on a suprising high note.

A Review by Anthony (Tony) T. Riggio of "The Tesla Secret" by Alex Lukeman

I read this book a couple of years ago having downloaded it for free from Bookbubs and read it and then forgot about it. A couple of days ago, I brought to the screen on my Kindle and started reading it (again) having forgotten my first reading. by the time I realized that this was a re-read, I searched Goodreads to see if I listed the book. Since I hadn't, I continued reading it.

It is a faced paced read with lots of action and predictable action heroes and a predictable plot involving new weaponry science though there was nothing complicated about the believability of the weapons power. It involved the technology of Nikola Testa (the inventor of Alternating Current and other things like the Tesla generator). The story involves the machinations of a criminal group of power movers in several countries bent on ultimate control of the world.

Fighting against this group is a small government organization (possible connections to the CIA). The members of this group are all super heroes and warriors extraordinaire.

It is well written, in spite of the simplicity of the story line and appealing to those readers that like "Bondish" adventurism. I was between reads and needed some diversion into relaxed reading. It is a quick read and one is able to read it in a couple of hours or during a transcontinental flight.

I did enjoy the work but will reserve judgment as to reading the previous works in this five book series but then again, I may need some relaxing adventurism.

I gave it 4 stars out of 5 and it did satisfy the need for relaxing reading, albeit this was an action thriller.

Picked this book up for free from Amazon Kindle courtesy of bookbub.com. The premise looked interesting and book looked short enough in terms of number of pages to read through in a single day.

The title in GoodReads did say it was #5 in a series written by Lukeman about a agency called THE PROJECT. But still I figured what the heck!! I will read through this and if the book feels good then I will pick up the remaining book in the series as they become available through Amazon on a lowered price range.

The book was interesting, it did not offer too many technical details, the action was good and the scenes moved at a decent clip. The series is touted by Lukeman based on the lead pair Nick Carter & Selena Connor, it is more involved in its characterization as based on different members of THE Project team.

It is a quick breezy read, the action is good and there is right amount of emotions within the team members and the dynamics between the lead pair. I was intrigued and will pick up the other books from the author as and when they are available.

A good start and another good author find. I would give the book a good 3 stars in rating.

This was another very enjoyable read within the Project series. These books move along at pace, with plenty of action. This one revolved around a group's attempt to assassinate the American President and develop a weapon, based on the work of Nicola Tesla, which would allow them to take on all comers across the World. The relationship between Nick and Selena also has a prominent place in the book, with events that take place in the book threatening the future of this relationship.
This series is well worth a read.

I've been a fan of Clive Cussler or years, and just came across Alex Lukeman in Bookhub,
Really enjoyed "White Jade", and just completed "The Telsa Secret".
Didn't realize it was a series, so am going back to those I missed.
Definitely well written and researched, with Characters I'm just getting to know,
The author mixes fact and fiction well, as the old movie Trailers used to exclaim " A story torn from today's Headlines."
A very entertaining fast moving story. Can't wait to read through the rest of the Project
series.

Taking time out, to read my other favorite authors. If you enjoy Government intrigue and action, you'll enjoy this series.

Good story, but...

Fairly basic, formulaic writing. A guy's version of a romance novel. Has some humor, plus interesting facts on the afterword by the author. Has 4 chapters of another book in the series after the afterword.
Most guys will love it. Most gals will wonder how any guy could enjoy this & not get to how similar the writing process is between romance & action books...or how they could stand reading this.
It's been that way all my life. I have only rarely found a woman who liked this type of story/movie/tv series, & only rarely found a guy who liked romance stories, whether serious or comedic & regardless of movies or TV shows v books.

Excellent. I hate to keep harping on the way the women are portrayed in the books rather than how the books are written, but the women are either too asexual-bitch like, or , lady-like dangerous who think that they should be thinking more about having children etcetera.
The men are all just manly men.
The books though are so good. The facts are spot on, so way to go Alex Lukeman for doing the requisite research for your books rather than simply making the necessary things up.

Cruise Missiles exploding buildings, distrust and deceit within team ranks, Nick Carter and his small Project team have a lot on their plates in this book the 5th in the series. Once more finding themselves working with the Russians and NOT having the same goals Nick must decide where the loyalty lies...and do what must be done to stop the outbreak of nuclear war with American technology if he can. Another good solid addition to the Project series by Alex Lukeman

I wish I had read these books in order of the series - rather than book 10 and then book 5. Now i understand the project better - but I already knew some of the relationships that were in their infancy in this book, but much stronger in book 10. Still a good crime / government secret agency read.

There is an elite group of troubleshooters that work under the radar for Uncle Sam, they are not known by most, have the ear of the President himself and go by the name of The Project. Lead by Elizabeth Harker, a small woman with raven black hair, wide green eyes she is easily overlooked, but only once. Her crack team is made up of team leader Nick Carter – ex-Marine, slightly well used in his looks and tough as nails; Selena Connor – the newest member of the team she is an expert in ancient languages, just as capable with her hands and a gun as she is with a book; Ronnie Peete – a deeply spiritual man who takes his Navajo roots seriously he is a crack tracker and loves his Hawaiian shirts and Lamont Cameron – ex Navy Seal at home on land and in the water; last but not least is Stephanie Willits – there is nothing she can’t make a computer do and in her hands they sing.

The Project is supposed to run under the radar but it seems there is someone out there that not only knows of their existence but is out to wipe them off the face of the earth. In The Tesla Secret the team will face what possibly could be their hardest assignment yet, holding themselves together as a cohesive unit even after multiple attempts on each of their lives.

Mr. Lukeman has kept us on the edge of our seats in the previous four books of this series and once again delivers a winner. Elizabeth Harker is dealing with someone trying to shut down The Project the easy way, killing everyone and in the midst of it all while looking at satellite photos taken over the far reaches of Russia she notices something that looks like a pyramid being built. Knowing this is something the team can’t deal with alone, she again reaches out to her equivalent in Russia General Alexei Ivanovich Vysotsky, the head of the SVR and he assigns Major Arkady Korov to once again work with the team.

Readers of The Project series have grown used to being transported to exotic locales and put into impossible situations. This time around we start out in the less than exotic locale of Nick’s cabin in the woods and travel to Brighton Beach in Brooklyn, to a penthouse in London, to the campaign trail with the President, to Prague, to the Western Siberian plain to Portugal and jungles of Yucatan to a villa in Tuscany. Each stop along the way will bring surprises and, per usual with this series, some kick A action scenes. Once again, Mr. Lukeman manages to transport us to each place with such skill that the reader truly has no problem seeing exactly what the characters are seeing, we marvel at an old castle in Prague, we whisper in a library in Portugal and smell the musky odor of old books, we hear each bug and feel the oppressive heat of the jungle and could swear we feel the wind in our face as we race along at top speed in a cigarette boat.

This book is no walk in the park; the team will have to deal with the possibly mortal injury of one of their own and still function. Nick and Selena’s relationship will be tested almost beyond breaking and each member of the team will be affected by their tension. Once again the mysterious Adam will drop in to give the team guidance and they will face a truly evil man in Malcolm Foxworth, the leader of the shadow group AEON, which is made up high power men from all over the world who want to rule the world.

Strap on your seat belts folks, this ride is a bumpy one filled with murder, mystery, the Russian mob and shadowy men who do bad things, bombs and explosions abound, every one of your senses will be tested and if you make it out the other end you will be exhausted but well satisfied. Enjoy – I did.

The Tesla Secret is a strange book. It started off with some exciting action, the attempted assassination of the protagonists. Good, I thought, this will be a rollicking action thriller. Then things started getting strange. The bad guy, named Foxworth, was described as a media mogul living in the UK. This character has a more than superficial similarity of a certain real life media mogul (hint FOXworth). OK, some blatant anti-conservative blather, I can ignore that. Then, in a couple of places, the author gives dates as CE. For those not familiar with CE, it is exactly the same as AD, except is is supposed to be less insulting to non-European cultures than the obviously Christian-centric AD. It is only used by hyper PC academic types and is a sure sign of cultural relativism and low intellectual integrity. But back to the action, which is plentiful. Of course the action is hung on a plot and there things really get weird.

It turns out that the bad guys, an evil organization (aren't they all) led by the aforementioned Foxworth, is trying to build a weapon designed by Nikola Tesla (yes, the long dead Croatian inventor). Now I have no problems with this sort of thing, after all Clive Cussler has been turning the recovery of weird ancient artifacts into action adventure gold for half a century or more. But there is more. The team of good guys & gals soon needs to recover an ancient manuscript from a museum which turns out to be made of bark inscribed with ancient mesoamerian markings. This leads them to the Yucatan and an undiscovered pyramid where they have a shoot out and a bit of interpersonal crisis. You see Nick forgot to pack the bullet proof vests leading to his main squeeze Selena getting shot. She blames him for her wounding, pretty much putting the kibosh on their bedroom antics for the rest of the book. Question: how does a team of highly trained special operators not notice they have forgotten their vests? It's not like bullet proof vests are small articles that one doesn't notice until needed. This is only one in a series of operational and equipment based faux pas in the story. In another place the author states that the AN-94 assault rifle shoots two rounds at once—nothing without two or more barrels can fire more than a single round at once. What the AN-94 has is a two round burst mode that fires successive shots with an effective cyclic rate of 1800 rounds per minute. The author was a Marines, and a Marine should know better. He is also a shrink, which is probably why the relationship between Nick and Selena is so messed up.

From here things just get weirder. It turns out that Nick has psychic visions, glimpses of the future. Not only that, but the bad guys made off with the item that old Tesla was looking for, a crystal amplifier not of this world—space aliens anyone? It seems that this crystal is the heart of an amplifier that taps into Telluric current to provide unlimited energy! Telluric current is real, it has been known for more than 100 years. If it could yield usable amounts of power cities around the world would be powered by it. Instead, it has been co-opted by the fringe science and flying saucer crowed and blended with the mystic lay lines so popular with new age nut jobs. Instead of a decent action adventure tale the book is actually a new age, ancient aliens, mystic power driven piece of PC liberal progressive propaganda. Any one of these literary gimmicks would have been fine on their own, but all mixed in together they totally destroy any possible suspension of disbelief, at least for me. After such a promising start it actually makes me angry that this book devolved into twaddle. Thank goodness I got it for free. Two stars only because some of the action was good.

I cannot recommend The Project Series enough to any adult who enjoys reading. I have been hooked on Mr. Lukeman’s series for a few years now, and I await each chapter in his EPIC STORY.

The Project is a small band of heroic men and woman who believe in their country and would put their money where there mouths are and die for it. Elizabeth Harker is the head of our Team which has grown a bit more with each story.

Elizabeth has the ear of the President of the United States, but he would disavow any knowledge of them if he needed to. They go and do America’s dirty work. Nick Carter, ex marine heads the team as Team Leader. Harker’s assistant and computer techky extraordinaire is Stephanie Willets, along with Ronnie Peete and Lamont Cameron ex Navy Seal. Selena Connor joined the team helping with her expert knowledge in ancient languages. With her training in jujitsu and handguns, while a young woman being raised by her Uncle, Selena has added the spice to Nick Carters life.

We have followed them over hill and dale, jumping from helicopters, diving in oceans and their once unobtrusive team has come into the spotlight now as a might to be reckoned with. To open this newest book and find Selena and Nick all curled up together, and Nick hears a slight sound that peeks his psyche. Jumping up, alerting Selena they move quickly from bed, pull some clothes with them and jump from the cabin; Nick had thought safe as it explodes in the middle of the snowy forest. Besides the enemy having new plans for Americas destruction, the head of a group known as AEON, Malcolm Foxworth has not been happy being thwarted by our gang recently, he has put a ‘hit’ on all it’s members. Hold on to you hats folks…Here we go again!

As in the last book, Black Harvest, we have two more allies. One gentleman is a mystery to us all, he seems to pull up in a mysterious car, invites Nick entry and fills him in on important pieces of information… We like him… Who is he and what is his agenda???

Major Arkady Korov, working for the Russian Secret Service, had worked with our team in Black Harvest. This resulted in both he and our team a mutual respect and he again will be involved in this story as well.

Mr Lukeman takes us to all corners of the globe in his stories, but I had the most fun with going to Brooklyn the Borough of my birth, being in Brighton Beach , and dealing with the Russian Mafia.

The story is faced paced, true to a power house of good vs evil. But I stepped back this time, as maybe Alex did, and read the wonderful job of his searching out Selena. Remember she came from great wealth, and now she is in Camo, holds a gun like the boys, jumps from heights shooting, and has become a killing machine. Mr Lukeman takes her story one step further with Selena and her her emotional fight, dealing with what she has become, and having to decide if this is what she really wants....This made a marvelous story within a story and I applaud him for taking this time to add this to her character. The ‘Boys’ were all servicemen, special ops and had always said they had a different philosophy. Now Selena has to measure where she is going and what she wants.

Alex Lukeman it is always a pleasure to read your work. You are a truly a wonderful storyteller and I await the next in your series…A wonderful addition.

The Tesla Secret is the fifth book in The Project series. The Tesla Secret leads the readers of a AEON organization racing to build the ultimate weapon that Tesla, an eccentric scientist would have built if J.P. Morgan and other investors did not pull funding to provide free energy. Being a business men, offering free energy does not allow them to make a profit.

The Tesla Secret starts off with an attempted hit on Nick Carter and Selena Connor. Both are member of the secret government organization know as The Project. Foxworth, leader of AEON, wanted The Project eliminated so they wouldn't interfere with his plan for world domination. What he did was sent The Project on high alert as to what AEON is doing.

The Tesla Secret has this Cold War/Mad Man cliche for the storyline. The story is action-packed with lot of spy intrigue and gun fights. It almost sounds like James Bond. For any readers who love actions, government conspiracies, and spy intrigues, The Project series is it.

I was expecting the information in the story were all made up until I read the Author's Note. The Tesla project does exist. J.P. Morgan and a group of investors did financed the project until they realized that were not going to dime for the project except offer the energy that the technology created for free. There is a scientist named Nikoli Tesla. There are government projects around the world trying to duplicate Tesla's research.

I do know I would like to catch up and read the first four books before the sixth book of the series come out.

It's a Lukeman....of course I expect to love it. The Tesla Secret is the 5th in The Project series. Our favorites, Nick Carter and Selena Connor continue to take abuse, though this time I began to wonder if Selena was going to survive, or survive intact. Elizabeth Harker is the Project Director, a strong effective leader with the President's ear, though I wondered this time if she was going to bend it at all--she's a pretty independent lady and doesn't seem to need his approval. The Project members are after a bad guy named Foxworth who is hot on the trail of another Tesla concept, who was definitely before his time and shut down probably by the same people who insisted the earth was flat and there'd never be submarines. Elizabeth manages to enlist the cooperation of the Russian version of The Project as the telluric installation appears to be on their soil. As always, the mix of fact and fiction provides some fascinating speculation and insight into military artillery and the concept of telluric energy. Lukeman threw us a new wrinkle in his wrap-up this time, almost an epilogue, that really left me wondering about the next offering in the series. Recommended for anyone ready to dive into a page turner with non-stop action.

Outstanding And Intriguing Mystery

Explosive characters, romance and intrigue gives you an exciting ride throughout the novel. The Project Team, Nick and Selena who are romantically involved, along with Lamont, Ronnie, and Steph depend on each of them to be outstanding in their respective jobs.

"The Project" leader, Elizabeth along with the President, hand-picked these highly trained and exceptional team to protect the country, as they successfully and carefully plan and prepare thoroughly all their moves to expedite a surprise and winning attack. If asked though, no one knows or acknowledges that they exist.

The strategic plan is to bring down the powerful and evil leader, Malcolm Foxworth, a wealthy, sick and twisted person who plots to build a powerful weapon from stolen Tesla designs to destroy and eliminate specific targets to rule the world. He encourages other evil, rich and powerful men to join his group to steal another secret ancient Tesla book and uses the Russians to throw Elizabeth off from suspecting his company, AEON.

The Tesla Secret is my third venture into the Project series and I still appreciate how the novels waste little effort on creating character profiles. At this point I imagine author Alex Lukeman assumes the reader is familiar enough with the recurring characters.

Furthermore, I continue to like the globetrotting aspect even though the traveling the special ops group does often seems excessive. They must have a huge budget relative to their size, mostly for jet fuel.

A couple of things bugged me, however. The story spends too much time on Nick and Selena's boyfriend/girlfriend troubles for a book not in the romance genre. It also seemed absurd to me that terrorists could .

Lukeman wraps up The Tesla Secret rather suddenly, and the ending isn’t necessarily a cliffhanger. Did he run out of words or simply want to leave his audience wanting more? Who knows but I’ll keep reading these as long as BookBub makes it easy (and cheap!) to do so.

The action never stops!

Prepare for a whirlwind trip across the globe, as Nick follows clues and bodies over three continents

This is another fast paced, on the edge of your seat thriller by Mr. Lukeman. Once again, Nick Carter and is troupe of highly trained group are propelled into the world of espionage, intrigue and murder. The stakes are high as a rogue group of Russians are developing a machine at an abandoned military complex deep in Siberia, that Tesla could could only fathom in his intricate mind. Theory becomes reality as the plot of world domination is uncovered. Will Nick and his group arrive in time before the weapon is used to knock out the most sophisticated satellite the US has developed, or will the planet be thrown into chaos, all in the name of world domination and power?

You'll have to get a copy for the answers.

Who will like this? Anyone enjoying a fast-paced espionage thriller.

A resounding 5 stars!!!

An unrecognized organization located in the USA takes out the projects that would serve only ill to the governments and people on planet Earth. Terrorism must be eradicated. In this book of a series, several bad actors are taken out. The book was quick to read, and it was not dulled by overly described weapons. In fact, the author did not describe much at all except by synopsis. I liked his style of writing. There is no language or sex alert hanging on this novel like grapes on a vine. How can a novel survive without overt sexual content and trashy language, I ask you? This author managed just fine. Thank you, sir!

The death ray is real as is Tesla. The weapon that travels faster than sound and can be launched from a freighter is also real. I suspect man can make or has made weapons that defy the power of any weapon
that we have seen before.

Thank you, Mr. Lukeman, for a good read.

Fifth installment in this action/adventure Special Ops Task Force genre series, and Mr. Lukeman has made me a fan. This time around the ancient relic tie-in is a lost piece of mysterious technology once used in Mayan pyramids. The sinister New World Order villain it is so fun to hate in this plot is a send-up of Rupert Murdoch. As is the case in each installment, the reader should be prepared for some life-changing crises for one or two of the main characters. Expect some travel, not only to Central America, but also to a villa on the coast of Tuscany and a secret base deep within Siberia. Oh, and as the title implies, be ready for some background (if you don't already know about him) on the life and ideas of that fascinating inventor, Nicolai Tesla.
