Amy

Rate this book
Amy was the oldest surviving daughter of the Morrin family. Since they had fled Ireland in search of a better life she had always know they were only a few steps ahead of destitution. The Oregon Trail spelt more freedom than Amy had ever known, but arrival in Fort Laramie brought heartache. Faced with abandoning his dream, Mr. Morrin accepted the offer of restocking the wagon in return for Amy’s hand in marriage to a man of his own age. Saddle-maker Callum Voisin had other ideas. During these first weeks on the trail he had got to know, and appreciate, Amy. He would not allow this to happen. So he made his move!

My name is Angela and I live in the countryside in Norfolk, UK, with my husband (who is an engineer and always busy) and my horse. My two children have left home, but I help my daughter with her horses and her whippets. I tend both house and garden rather reluctantly and I write and read. For years I had woven stories in my head, when travelling and watching the world go by, when lying in bed trying to sleep, or just when I was transported by a place or an event. I finally started to put the stories on paper while I sat through several endless nights when my young daughter was ill. The result was several handwritten manuscripts, hard labour over a typewriter and eventually a single romance novel accepted and published back in 1990. Then I gave up, too much family life and a business to run. Finally both children have left home and I am less busy, and now the revolution has happened. Computers. The internet. Self-publishing. I felt able to inflict my creations on the world once again. I write both historical and contemporary romance, although I personally prefer the historical; I enjoy the research. The stories are not erotica, but they are (as one of my lovely reviewers said) a little bit naughty. I don’t leave at the bedroom door. My stories are plot driven, they might get it on, but sex is part of the characters’ lives, not the main purpose. I like a bit of adventure, excitement and danger. My characters have been involved on the Oregon trail, in Indian raids in the west, and in the Crimean war. They have been variously stranded in snow storms, caught in tornadoes and kidnapped by ruffians (one of the young ladies, that is, the heroes are too tough). One thing they always get is their happy ending. I don’t like a book without a happy ending, so I really cannot write one.

Amy

This is a wonderful book. This is the story of Amy and Callum. Amy is traveling west with her parents and siblings to get a new start. Callum is traveling with his extended family to open a new business in the west. After becoming friends, Callum has decided Amy is who he wants for his wife. But Amy's father is overprotective and will barely let him speak to Amy. Midway through their journey, Amy's father promises her hand in marriage to someone Amy has never met. Amy is only eighteen and the man she is promised to, is her father's age. When she runs to the fort and hides, Callum finds her and marries her. As they make the rest of the journey together, will they eventually fall in love, or will their marriage be a mistake?
This book was so well written and with a great storyline that describes the hardships on the trail and the seemingly endless days as the trudged along. There are a lot of interesting characters in the book besides Amy and Callum that you feel like you get to know. I loved this book and recommend it to all.

This is a sweet and heartwarming story that will certainly pull at your heartstrings and pulling for the heroine. This is Amy Morrin and Callum Voisin's story. As each of them travel in the wagon train, Callum takes notice of Amy but is seldom allowed to even speak to her by Amy's very controlling, protective father. When her father offers her to a man who is his age in payment for restocking their wagon. Amy rebels and runs away to the fort and hides out. Callum goes into action, searches for and locates her, and marries her to save her from the arranged marriage. Will their marriage grow into a HEA or will it prove to be a mistake? Be sure and read this wonderful book to find out; I know you will enjoy it as much as I did.

Truly a wonderful story!!

I throughly enjoyed reading this story, filled with adventure, being sold to finance her father’s trip, and finding the romance Amy deserves. A well crafted story that tells an incredible journey across the Oregon trail. I could almost feel the excitement, fear, worry, desperation, and of traveling through some very harsh conditions. Great story! Must read!

Wonderful Wagon Train Story

I enjoyed this delightful romance with its ups and downs of wagon train travel, and the beauties and dangers of the trail. Amy came from a strict family and a father intent on controlling her for his own purposes. In the end, love prevailed. A lovely story.
