Harbor Cove Murders

Rate this book
Five young women traveling with their friends have gone missing on the island of St. Thomas over the last year. The most recent only a few days before PI Riley Sullivan travels there with her husband, Det. Luke Morgan, for their best friend’s wedding. Vowing to not get involved, all Riley wants to do is focus on the wedding. Fate had other plans.

When a victim’s body washes up on the beach near their hotel, Riley feels like she has no choice. The investigation is an uphill battle, bringing Riley and Luke face-to-face with the local detective who has deemed all of the cases runaways. It seems like he has something to hide as do the suspects they quickly identify – a disgraced British diplomat, a tech billionaire, a scuba instructor, and locals who date women for sport.

Riley and Luke must work together to uncover which one of them is behind these disappearances, but the clock is ticking and they only have so much time before their vacation is over. The race is on to stop a killer before he strikes again.

If you like riveting crime fiction, you’ll love Harbor Cove Murders. Read as a standalone or as Book #7 in the PI Riley Sullivan Mystery series.

This story starts with Luke and Riley at Harbor Cove for the wedding of Coop and Adele. It seems that a large number of women have gone missing and the police are not doing anything to resolve it. Luke and Riley want to concentrate on the Wedding and ignore the missing women. During a rehearsal, the body of one of the missing women shows up on the beach. All four of them decide that after the wedding, they were get involved. Luke begins laying out a plan how to go about getting information. He knows not to expect any assistanc e by the police and the police go so far as telling Luke and the rest to drop the investigation.

Because of the missing women, a large contingent of media arrive and begin asking questions. Luke eventuall agrees to work with one of the reporters providing him information. One of the steps that is taken is the estalishment of a hot line in the hotel which is managed by volunteers. Eventually leads start coming in and Luke, Riley and the rest start following up on them. They soon narrow the list of suspects to just a few.

To learn who was responible for the women's disappearance, what steps Luke's team took in their search and why the hotel manager was so willing to help, then yo need to read this book.

I received an ARC and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Harbor Cove Murders is the first novel by Stacy M. Jones that I have ever read. Harbor Cove Murders is a cozy mystery, not a genre that I read. I’m into the blood and guts, adrenalin rush, roller-coaster thrill rides. Harbor Cove Murders, if it was a movie, would have a “G” rating. There isn’t any gratuitous sex and violence, or blood splatter I find so appealing, but I still enjoyed the read.

This story isn’t a page burner by any stretch of the imagination, but it captured and holds my attention from the very first few pages. It’s very well written and the way the story develops reminded me much of the Agatha Christie mysteries. Mysteries where the detectives solve them more through mental agility than through physical prowess. There is only one physical altercation in the entire book and that one is brief, bloodless, and comes at the very end.

I think that this is a murder mystery that will appeal more to the ladies than to us guys. If you really enjoy reading a wholesome who-done-it with a cast of suspects as long as your arm and will keep you guessing who the perp really is till the very end, then Harbor Cove Murders is a must read for you.

They're off to St Thomas for a wedding in the sun ...

... but can they resist the lure of a murder investigation?

Cooper and Adele are finally tying the knot . . . on a beach . . . on St Thomas. But a young woman has gone missing; in fact, they find out there's been more than one. And then one of the young ladies washes up on shore, strangled.

Though they had sworn nothing would be allowed to mar the wedding of their best friends, Luke and Riley simply can't leave the case in the useless hands of local police who seem determined to chalk them all up to runaways and drunken accidents.

Jones is a master at lining up the suspense and spinning a tale that takes you in several directions all at once. Prepare to be drawn into the narrative so completely that you won't put the book down till the last sentence is done. Even if you haven't yet read a Riley Sullivan Mystery, Harbor Cove is easily read as a standalone, but I know you'll be compelled to read all of them too.

I really enjoyed this book. It was easy to read, and I found I needed to continue reading to see how things progressed.

Riley, Luke and their friends are in St. Thomas for their friends wedding but get sidetracked when they hear about a missing girl. The authorities are uninterested and appear lazy and inept , especially so when it seems that 5 girls have gone missing. Even when the body of 1 of the girls is found, the detective in charge is keen to insist it was a drowning despite the medical examiner's findings.

I like these characters. They are dogged and determined and I feel quite invested in their adventures. The location of St. Thomas was fabulous despite the darker issues at play.

I highly recommend this series and look forward to the next book.

Riley, Luke, Cooper and Adele are in St. Thomas for Cooper and Adele’s wedding. You just know that their trip will not end up being just a celebration. A number of young women have gone missing while visiting the island. The four are drawn into the investigation after meeting the parents of one of the young women and when the body of another young woman washes ashore.

This is such a good series! The investigations are always intricate and well developed. The characters are well rounded. The multiple points of view from Riley, Luke and Cooper as the story progresses give a more in-depth insight into how the investigation develops. I’m already looking forward with anticipation to the next installment. I highly recommend this series!

Perfect beach read and a whodunit to boot! I get so excited for new books in this series. This does not disappoint. Not only is the mood set for the perfect summer read, but it keeps getting better and better. I loved the twists and turns in this book and trying to figure out the killer(s). Riley’s sass always puts her right in the middle of very dangerous situations. True to her character, she’s in trouble in paradise! She has a super sleuthy team that needs to solve several disappearances and one confirmed murder in a hurry. Can Luke, Cooper, and Adele follow the breadcrumbs that Riley left? I know what happens. Do you?

This book starts right before the wedding of cooper and Adele. The gang can't seem to keep away from murder investigations. At first they try to ignore the issue at hand when the mother and father of a newly missing girl accost Luke and Riley in the elevator on the way to the wedding rehearsal, but when a body washes up right next to the wedding spot and they learn of all the other young women missing they can't help but look into it. They face very little resources, incompetent local police and a ever growing suspect list.
A very good book nicely written and will keep you hanging on til the end.

It's time for Adele & Coop's wedding. So Riley & Luke don't really want to get involved in a murder investigation. But 5 missing girls, one found dead & an incompetent local police officer makes it impossible to not get involved. The added complication is they all only have a short time on the island to solve the case. This case is different because there are so few leads but several suspects. I correctly figured out the murder which has not happened in the other books in this series. Still, I very much enjoyed the story. I received an ARC. This is my voluntary opinion.

LOVED this book!!!! PI Riley Sullivan and her husband, Det. Luke Morgan travel to St. Thomas for the intimate wedding of their dear friend, Riley’s partner, Cooper and his fiancée, Adele. Just after the wedding, they become embroiled in trying to solve the mysterious disappearances of 5 young women. The local detective refuses to acknowledge this is a problem and blocks them at every turn. With the help of the locals and the international news media that has descended on the island, can they figure out who is behind these disappearances before their so-called vacation ends?????

Cooper and Adele's destination wedding takes Riley and Luke to St Thomas in the Virgin Islands.

Cos the group is out of their normal element, the investigation into the disappearances of 5 young women has to take a different style. They can only use 'normal' social media and interviews with those involved.

The story develops well.

What was supposed to be a relaxing vacation and wedding turns into a case for Riley and Luke and the newlyweds. There is someone taking young girls, and one has just washed up on a beach dead. The local police think they are just runaways, but their friends and family say they would never do that. Can they find the truth? I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

hard to put down

Luke,Riley,Adele & Cooper are headed to St. Thomas for a wedding and they all get pulled into a missing persons case that has them running in circle with little evidence. Very well written. Kept my attention from beginning to end. I look forward to more in this series.

Fantastic storytelling!

A beautiful wedding and a gruesome murder on a tropical island make a great story! There's plenty of suspense, a bit of humor and romance. All blended to keep the reader entertained. Well done!

Honestly I was bored throughout this book. The writing had a lot of unnecessary descriptions and it just seemed to ramble on. I had really hoped to like it since it was set in St Thomas, a place I know very well, but the island was not a big focus at all. Just wasn’t for me

Fast Paced

Young women staying at a resort have disappeared. The police refuse to investigate saying it is bad for tourism. There are a number of suspects, but Riley hones in on one. Like this book enough to read more of the Ripley Sullivan series.

Outstanding

Young girls are missing. Cooper and Adele are there to get married Luke and Adele can't let it go so they investigate. Lots of suspects and dead ends. A detective not doing his job let it go on for too long. Riveting story and characters.
