Hi Daniel, this review is for you because I couldn’t find another way to send you a message.
I empathise with you. You are a sensitive man who has a lot in himself and who has been through a lot. There is a lot to that I relate to.
I read your book. And as a pure writer I have critical issues with how you go through the thread of your points.
Your book is about how humans are controlled, but the first half is just you going through your own thinking and panic episodes and multiple voices going through you and sorting it all out. As a writer and a reader I ask myself: are you writing this for me? Or are you writing this for yourself?
And even though writers have a strong ego they write from, and secretly want connection and unity, you don’t have that balance between writing for yourself and others. I recommend George Orwells Essays on writing in this regard.
Also, the spelling mistakes come too often. Adding an unnecessary ‘than’ when you’re probably editing. It might cost you 60-80 euros to get the whole book proofread. Why not do that?
More remarks: you started this book talking about sea people and within three pages proposed a question and said “it doesn’t matter” three separate times. This is a great put off because you went into all of your subjects without giving the reader the proper context to work from. Three pages of sea people before even getting to the point to ask what and who they are, and when you do, that doesn’t matter. No thanks.
My impression of you, and this is from someone who is taking what you’ve written seriously, is you’re too far off from the ground and a solid masculine space in your self and you’re trying to find that space through your writing. Which is fair. But it isn’t sharp and concrete enough to be helpful for anyone reading it. Besides, it’s pretty confusing when you change how you talk about yourself because you’re addressing different versions of yourself.
I recommend you get out of the states if you’re still there. I recommend you find people who love you and are willing and wanting to see you be better. I feel like you need a good hug so bad. But most importantly, I think you need to find something that: hones the sharpness in more beneficial ways for others instead of yourself, and softens that sharpness in other directions that are pointing to your own heart and other people.
I don’t know if you do martial arts but it is a great space for that.
Good luck growing up, I don’t imagine you’ll ever stop writing and it’ll only be beneficial to everyone if you knew how to write things that are more beneficial for the reader than what you are currently doing.
I recommend: “How to write useful books” “Become an effective teacher in minutes” “Writing down the bones” “The writing life”
Good luck with everything.
Lastly, your kindle version is too expensive. I don’t know or trust you as an author and 14 euros for a book where you go through your own line of thinking for yourself isn’t a good deal. Do you want people to read your work or do you want to hope someone buys your expensive book so they return it a week later?
