A lovely anthology of stories about single dads, and them discovering love again and looking towards the future, these stories are set in beautiful small towns that are always there for each other and they are all beautifully written and are sure to please any reader.

All My Heart
Rhonda Forrest

When school teacher Tess moves to Tranquil Bay in North Queensland for a short teaching position, she never even thinks that it will change her life forever, these students are nothing like her private school students and even though they give her a hard time at first it is not long before she and them are learning together. When she meets one of her students father’s, single dad Joel and they hit it off so well and an accident brings them closer together, Tess soon discovers that being in Tranquil Bay with Joel is the place she should be.
Beautifully written, this is filled with lots of emotion as the reader gets to know Joel and Tess and the students, a beautiful town that I would love to visit.

The Green Place
Louise Forster

Grace is an investigative reporter and has travelled the world in many dangerous places but at the moment she is on assignment for Vogue magazine and doing a piece on sustainable farming and is sent to country Victoria and to meet farmer Joe, Joe is a single dad and not overly impressed about Grace arriving but when they meet there is a spark that neither can deny and soon Grace is getting on so well his son and himself that life is moving forward in a very happy way for them all.
This story is filled with emotion and fabulous characters and such a fabulous setting, such a happy story filled with love.

Love Between
Leanne Lovegrove

Caleb is a top chef in the city until disaster hits and then he loses his sister and suddenly Caleb is now fathering his five year old niece in a small country town Bellthorpe and not coping really well that is until local Bridie, strawberry farmer steps in and changes everything. I loved Caleb and Bridie and the community who step in and help as needed it shows love and caring in such a fabulous way.
This is a moving and beautiful story that is sure to make any true romance readers heart soar with happiness.

Meggie & Max
Susan Mackie

I loved being back in Barrington, it was like coming home to family as we meet newcomer Max and his son they have been through some tough times and a new start in this beautiful town maybe just what they need.
Meggie is home from The States for her brother’s wedding, her decision to not go back is fabulous news for Angus and Rose and when Meggie meets the new locum vet Max and his gorgeous son life is suddenly making lots of sense and with so much joy.
A beautiful story, fabulous characters and a fabulous small country town that is just the place to start over.

The Son
Emma Powell

Tina has finally returned to Australia after years in The States, this music star’s life has not been what most people would think it should be, and when she is judging a talent contest the one that shot her to fame she really starts to think about her life and future.
Clay is a local farmer and single dad but he is also one fabulous singer as is his daughter Samantha and Samantha is entered into the contest as well, meeting Tina has Clay thinking about his future and soon Clay has Tina on his mind more than he maybe should.
Clay and Tina are drawn together and the spark and pull is something that cannot be denied for long, it was beautiful to see them both find such happiness and joy as they both deserved.

I loved volume one and I love this one even more, I do highly recommend this book to any reader who loves a good story that is sure to keep you turning the pages, packed with emotions and fabulous characters it will leave you feeling very happy as we see some wonderful people find love and happiness.

My thanks to the authors for my copy to read and review

This Anthology was given to me by one of the authors of this book - Susan Mackie. Susan's story I reviewed separately, however I did read all the other stories (which are novella size) and I want to congratulate all the authors, Rhonda Forrest, Louise Forster, Leanne Lovegrove and Emma Powell for such a tremendous input of writing. All stories told were top class, tidy, well balanced and emotional at times.

Overall a 5 star review/rating on each story.

Story 4 - Meggie & Max - Susan Mackie

And we are going back to Barrington Homestead to visit the dishy vet. Quite a few things happen to Meggie and Max, but I'm going to side step the issue here and let you have the pleasure in reading their story. However I will let you into a little secret, there is a wedding and I do here the organ playing "here comes the bride" but what outfit is the bride wearing I wonder.

We do have copious amounts of coffee, all sorts, barista, black, you name it, it's probably being drunk here, even Americano, which I've never had before, now I'm going to have to look out for it.

We do have plenty of eats, and my eyes grew orange and I felt like bugs bunny when I saw carrot cake, unfortunately my hubby isn't a fan, so I never get to eat it. We also have vegemite sandwiches, an all time favourite of mine, although I used to have it with lettuce, but since lettuce is $7 dollars it is now become a luxury item. Also we have pasta salad, and Belgian chocolates, not altogether, infact there were some very mouth watering dinner dishes, such like chicken schnitzel (word was shortened of course, because when you are Australian you shorten just about every word you speak) chops and loads more, I had to stop writing them down because I was becoming so so hungry!

Small children were naturally mentioned, particularly new entrants, which was quite exciting, as I was quite intrigued on the reaction of a childs first important day at school.

I'm awarding Susan Mackie 5 stars, for a very tidy, all round plot, the story line kept me entertained through out.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

All My Heart by Rhonda Forrest
Teacher Tess leaves a prestigious Canberra School for a six month stay in the North Queensland beachside town of Tranquil Bay.
Together with the heat in the north compared to Canberra, Tess finds the locals somewhat different to what she is used to.
The students in her new school are nothing like she has experienced before...but there is good reason for that as she will soon find out.
Enter Tom, footballer and all round good time guy. After her experience in the City, even the guys here are a different breed.
But, as Tess further experiences life in a small country town, she eventually finds that no matter where you live, people are still basically the same.

The Green Place by Louise Foster
Joe and his nine year old son Finn live in their particular part of paradise...Binowee, The Green Place.
Into their lives comes Grace, journalist with Vogue, to write a story about Joe's successful venture with his farm.
Joe and Finn's life is not at all what Grace is used to. Here is a farmer who manages his property very well indeed, raises his son beautifully and daily bakes bread! Completing their family is delightful mut, Luna.
Who, I ask, could ever resist life in the country when presented with this scenario.
Grace, as a journalist, has travelled to all parts of the world, covered all the difficult stories, so surely this job is a charm. But, a previous assignment comes back to haunt Grace.

Love in Between by Leanne Lovegrove
Calab arrives in the small town of Bellethorpe, full of loss... his sister and his once thriving business due to a scandal.
He has come to care for his five year old niece, Sybella, who is much loved and cared for by the little town.
Bridie is the town's 'go to' person for help in organising almost everything. Currently in progress is the annual French Festival which takes place because of the history of World War I and the French history of the town. But Bridie also has her own problems at home.
Caleb is not at all what Bridie was looking for or expected.
Can this little country town be the redemption of Caleb and convince him that this is the place to raise his little niece.

Meggie & Max by Susan Mackie
Back to Barrington, a place to start over.
Veterinarian Max Masters arrives at Barrington as temporary locum for Angus Hamilton who prepares for his marriage to Rose and their honeymoon. Together with Max is his eight year old son Tommy.
At the same time, Meggie Hamilton arrives home from her job in Napa Valley, California. Meggie has come home for her brother's wedding but also there is trauma attached to her departure from Napa and her decision will be to stay close to family or to return to her previous life.
Meggie & Max is a heartwarming story of family, friendship, compassion and caring such as is always found within life in the country.
Can Meggie and Max each find their way through past traumas and learn to love again?
Thank you Susan, such a delight to be back at Barrington with this story. Great to catch up with characters from previous stories and I do hope there will be further delights for us at Barrington.

The Song by Emma Powell
Back in Australia after living overseas for some years, Tina Lombardi arrives in a small country town in Victoria as one of the judges of the local talent show.
Not only is Tina a judge for the local show, she also has a successful singing career.
Clay Reynolds is very much a country man. He and his daughter Samantha run their successful dairy farm.
But Clay is not only a farmer, he is also a singer limited to his local area due to his circumstances and responsibilities. His daughter is one of the entrants in the talent quest.
Tina and Clay's story may seem impossible, but the connection they each feel can't be ignored.
A delightful story, beautiful setting and the supporting characters are a real treat.

Thank you to all five Authors in this Anthology. I have loved your stories and look forward to more.

Thank you Susan Mackie for my copy of this Anthology, I will treasure it.

Love in a Sunburnt Land Anthology Vol 2
- Rhonda Forrest, Louise Forster, Leanne Lovegrove, Susan Mackie and Emma Powell

Love in a Sunburnt Land Vol 2 is an anthology of novellas showcasing the beauty of Australia by the same five talented authors who brought you vol 1. This is truly romance at its best! Each and every novella is captivating, heartfelt, uplifting and completely swoonworthy.

Each romance includes a sexy, single Dad who will win over your heart as well as the female protagonist's. The stories tell of a woman who comes into the mens' lives at just the right time and is not only loving towards them, but their children too.

All my Heart by Rhonda Forrest is a novella that has it all! Small town vibes, beautiful beach setting, friendship and romance with a whole lot of heartfelt emotions and laughter. Tess, an English teacher moves to Tranquil Beach where she finds love of a community and changes many lives.

The Green Place by Louise Forster is a sweet and sexy romance that will make your heart sing. Grace, a well travelled journalist, arrives in Binowee to interview single Dad and sexy farmer, Joe Mathews. In no time, Grace has made a beautiful connection with Joe and his young son, Finn.

Love in Between by Leanne Lovegrove is a touching story of romance, new beginnings, love and loss. It is set in the small country town of Bellethorpe where community is everything. Bridie is there to support her townspeople and newcomer, Caleb. It is an inspiring story of hope.

Meggie & Max by Susan Mackie is the perfect read. The story takes you on a trip to the scenic town of Barrington, known for its river and snow fall on the Barrington tops. The location itself makes this novella a must read! Meggie and Max hit it off straight away. Their romance is warmhearted and pure.

The Song by Emma Powell is a lot of fun!Music, wine, a small town and a sexy cowboy! Tina and Clay, an unlikely pair, find one another in the small town of Echuca. Clay's bond with his daughter is beautiful. The pace, character development, drama and romance are all balanced perfectly.

I highly recommend that you pick up this anthology! The emotions are high, you will need tissues and most of all you will feel a whole lot of love for the characters in the stories. Australian towns, Australian hearts - you will feel like you're at home in each town. Each and every novella is a must read. I loved them all and they each compliment another perfectly to create an anthology you will not want to put down.

All my Heart - Rhonda Forrest

This novella has it all! Small town vibes, beautiful beach setting, friendship and romance with a whole lot of heartfelt emotions and laughter.

It amazes me that a short novella can have such a huge impact upon its reader, but really, am I surprised? It's Rhonda Forrest! Rhonda is the master of feel good romance novels. Each and every story she writes makes it impossible for me to put down.

Tess, an English teacher moves from Canberra to the small town of Tranquil Beach in Northern Queensland for a change of scenery and to hopefully gain a promotion in the teaching industry. She is a kindhearted, caring teacher who wants what is best for her students. Upon her arrival at the local high school she faces challenges of a new teacher starting mid year. The students test her and she has to prove herself and build rapport with them. This novella is a must read for teachers! As a teacher, I loved reading how one teacher impacts the lives of many and as all teachers, can only hope I can impact my students' lives too. The classroom interactions are realistic, as are the reactions of students, which had me laughing along the way.

I love that this novella is so much more than romance, yet it has the very best romance story. Tess starts to date a sexy local who seems fun... Without giving too much away, Mr Right may live in Tranquil Beach and may have won my heart too. A sweet romance and one that was a perfect way to start a cosy weekend away.

Rhonda Forrest's protagonists are lovable and I always find myself thinking about parts of her stories long after reading them. All My Heart has stayed with me. Rhonda has a way of making the reader appreciate their loved ones and lives they are living through her storyline, characters, relationships and love. An inspirational story from an inspirational author.

@rhondaforrestauthor

The Green Place - Louise Forster

The Green Place is the second novella in the Love in a Sunburnt Land Vol 2 Anthology. Louise Forster writes a romance that has just the right amount of sweetness, sexiness and drama.

Grace, a well travelled journalist, arrives in Binowee to interview single Dad and sexy farmer, Joe Mathews. In no time, Grace has made a beautiful connection with Joe and his young son, Finn. Louise's writing considers Finn's perspective in an insightful and heartfelt way. Both father and son have felt heartbreak that has impacted their lives greatly.

The novella discusses sustainable farming and as a reader, I learnt a lot. Joe is passionate about sustainable farming and shares this with Grace. As the characters get to know one another they share their fears, worries and stories. Grace's past encounters as a journalist have shaped who she is and her mind is put at ease in Binowee.

Louise packs a lot into this novella and I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the characters. A whirlwind romance that will make your heart want to sing.

@louise.forster.author

Love in Between - Leanne Lovegrove

Love in Between is a touching story of romance, new beginnings, love and loss.

The novella is set in the small country town of Bellethorpe where community is everything. It's a town I would want to be a part of; thriving on love, support and community. The novella presents characters who experience challenges along the way, yet the town maintains appreciation for its people.

Caleb, a famous and talented chef, moves to Bellethorpe after his sister tragically passes away, to look after his niece, Sybella. His career has recently taken a hit and his grief is all encompassing. Leanne Lovegrove's writing is realistic and emotionally driven. Love in Between is a story that depicts the raw and heartbreaking nature of grief. Sybella and Caleb are learning to live without her mum and his sister. The bond that grows between Uncle and niece takes us on an emotional rollercoaster and Caleb must learn what it means to place Sybella's needs before his own.

In no time at all, Bridie, a woman with a big heart offers her support to Caleb and Sybella. Bridie is my favourite character. She looks after those around her and has always had understanding for members of the community without casting judgement. Her family's berry farm and the sweets made from those berries had my mouth watering.

Leanne Lovegrove is a talented author who paints a realistic picture of life and love - the balancing act between the peaks and valleys. A novella which will have you questioning the decisions of the characters and feeling all emotions towards them. The most important message in this story is that of hope. I was left feeling hopeful and felt that the messages in the novel were very powerful.

Meggie & Max - Susan Mackie

On a cold winters evening, curled up under a throw with a tea.... Meggie & Max is the perfect read. Susan Mackie takes the reader on a trip to the scenic town of Barrington, known for its river and snow fall on the Barrington tops. The location itself makes this novella a must read!

Meggie arrives in Barrington to help plan her brother's wedding. She has been living in the Napa Valley, USA and intends to stay in Barrington for good. She involves herself in planning and shares her passion for event organisation with the local people. Meggie loves the town of Barrington. Her relationship with her sister-in-law grows and develops beautifully throughout the novella.

Max arrives in Barrington to work for local vet, Meggie's brother, Angus. He arrives with his son Tommy and they soon become part of the Barrington community. People help one another in and Max is pleasantly surprised by the kindness and personal contact with pet owners.

Max and Meggie hit it off straight away. They both have their secrets and help one another along the way as they come to terms with what has happened in the past. Their romance is pure and warmhearted, just as the characters are themselves.

If you've read any of Susan Mackie's novels, reading Meggie & Max will feel like coming home. The characters from Susan's Barrington series are a part of the story and I love the connection - the community feel is very real. Another page turner written by the amazing Susan Mackie.

The Song - Emma Powell

Music, wine, a small town and a sexy cowboy! This novella is a lot of fun!

Tina, an Aussie singer who has spent a lot of time in the US, arrives in the small town of Echuca to judge a TV talent quest. Tina stays in a small motel and her initial reaction is to complain, due to the luxury she is used to. She soon meets the locals who make her feel welcome and safe. It is easy to fall in love with the Aussie characters of the story. They each have a story to tell.

Clay, sexy cowboy and single Dad, appears at the right time and treats Tina with respect and care. There is an instant spark between them and the romance is sexy and sweet. Clay's daughter, Samantha, is a talented singer and she auditions for the show, with her Dad there to support her on stage. I loved the father-daughter bond and the way that the characters' grief and response to their loss was carefully considered, in particular time frames and different ways that people grieve. It deals with a range of emotions sensitively and is beautifully written. The ending is perfect. Bring the tissues!

The Song is a must read. Although this is a short story, the pace, character development, drama and romance were all balanced perfectly. I loved it. What a way to end a brilliant anthology!

This volume contains 5 short (about 100 page) rural/remote Australian romance stories that are easily devoured in a single sitting. They are all unique in terms of their characters and story telling, but yet all similar in their underlying message of love for the land, love for family and love for a simpler existence. This volume took me on a journey from far North Queensland to country Victoria and allowed me to experience this journey through the eyes of a teacher, a journalist, a chef, a vet and a singing star all searching for something that was missing from their life.

What surprised me the most was that short stories are notorious for being unfulfilling just because it is incredibly difficult to flesh out a diverse cast of characters and realistic character development in under 100 pages - yet these authors have managed to do it again. The side characters are just as rich and lovable as the main characters and the descriptions of the land make me yearn for travel around Eastern Australia. Their writing voices compliment each other so well that as you move from one story to the next you can tell that the authors share a love of the land, a love of its people and a love of the written word.

I read volume #1 last year and while I loved it, I felt I had done a disservice to the authors by binge reading it as I didn't let each story stand center stage before I started the next. This time around, with volume 2, I intentionally went in slower - a story every day or two and intermixed with other reading - and the end result was that this was an engaging and more memorable read and consequently I think I love volume 2 better than volume 1.

I highly recommend this volume for all readers, but especially those who are a little time poor and in need of a happy ending fix.

The stories are unique, entertaining and most importantly all come together cohesively for this anthology.
The stories are short but pack some punch.
Each author brings her own writing style which ensures diversity and entertainment.
I reckon I could pick who wrote what if read this unlabelled.
They are all set in rural locations giving fans of the genre an indulgence.
Single dads are everywhere and each have a story.
The potential for plots and events immense and I loved how each story has such a different feel.
In addition to finding second chance love, other storyline’s are beautifully woven in reflecting current and social issues.
A book of short stories really works well for me.
The reader can read it one sitting or break it up with other books.
This stunning cover will look perfect on any coffee table and it’s contents will not disappoint.

"Brace yourselves. Five 'single dads' stories that will move you to tears, laughter... and leave you just a little bit breathless" - no truer words for this collected of stories.

All My Heart- Rhonda Forrest.

Tess takes a rural teaching position in Tranquil Bay for now, not for ever. Her high school students give her a hard time, Tess second guesses whether it's worth it, it's only 6 months she can tough it out right. After running into one of her students' parents Joel, at dinner one night, she soon realizes this is what she's been missing. After accident which brings the whole year 12 class closer together. It forces Joel and Tess to face what's between them, to work out what they both want.

I will follow Joel to any secret swimming hole. Filled with lots of emotion from hope filled butterflies to the gut crash pain. If only there was more teachers like Tess that cared for their students like she did. Another beautifully written story by Rhonda

The Green Place - Louise Forster

Grace, an international journalist with a life filled with experiences. Rubbing shoulders with some of the world elite, she's given an assignment that she deems easy. Interview a reluctant farmer Joe and his passion for sustainable farming.
Joe doesn't understand why his sister organized his article why would a city magazine care about farming and its families. However, the something captivating about Joe, his son Finn and the place they call home, which has Grace questioning her life on road to ponder life on the land.

A story like no other, how I would do anything to lay next to Joe under the stars. It's filled with strong willed characters, all with a strong moral compass. Set on farm like nothing seen before, trying to change the world one farm at a time, oh those poor roses.

Love in Between- Leanne Lovegrove

After losing everything that was ever important to him, his restaurant and sister. Caleb finds himself in outback country town with a French flare. Being shanghaied into lending a hand at his niece's school tuck-shop, he finds the reason why he wanted to be a chief in the first place, just without the bottle with every service.
Need something done? ask Bridie, she will do it. Trying to keep her father and the strawberry farm afloat, caring for the community and believing without her the towns Bastille Day wouldn't go head.
Soon Caleb finds himself and his niece surrounded with support from the community that he doesn't know, is it enough to rebuild his life?

This story proves that is ok not to be ok. We are never truly alone, there's support if we are willing to let others in. A wonderful heartfelt story, that sees the best in everyone. Send some French strawberry sweets my way please... yum

Meggie and Max - Susan Mackie

Meggie arrives at Barrington Homestead for her brother, Angus Hamilton's long waited wedding. However, the wedding planning isn't the only reason she is planning to start over in Barrington for good.
Max the Locum vet has taken the job, to lend his knowledge and care to the community while Angus takes time for his honeymoon. Looking for a fresh start for him and his son but didn't tell Angus he his son would be accompanying him.
When their secrets and past are pushed into the light will they be willing to move forward at start over or with it smash their hopes apart.

Back to Barrington to see the long-waited wedding of Angus and Rose, omg better than any royal wedding. With appearance from previous characters, it's like return home to old friends, while making new ones. So much I could say just don't want to spoil it.

The Song - Emma Powell

Singing super star, Tina returns back to rural Australia. Fleeing a public meltdown all captured thanks to social media. Tina is signed up to a judge on the same show that made her a star Sing to Win, in Mildura. Soon she releases what was always missing in her life in the US, a connection. A connection to a community, to the music and someone who stole the breath from her body.
Clay a single cowboy with a voice that moves the earth, only recently picking up the guitar again after tragic death. He finds himself unwilling to move forward, that's until Tina arrives in pub for dinner one night. An unwilling yet supportive back vocals for his daughter on the signing show Sing to Win.
Will they choose a life in limelight or a life together in the slow lane?

Need a reason to why music is food for the soul rejuvenating, energic and adding connections like no other. Music creates a wonderful safe place to get lost in, as long as there no smart phone. A captivating story, it will leaving you wishing you could see Clay in person..

Spectacular collection of Aussie women authors, working together to create a rural romance happy place. Filled with 5 sexy single dads, men you want to take home to meet the folks. Kind, big hearted, respectful, genuine, while being a positive father is the most important element in their life. That's is until the women walk in, who realizing what's been missing in their busy lives, connection, community, love and family.
This novel is hard to put down, and when finished, it is the saddest part of the whole experience its a truly magical place to be in. I look forward to more from these wonderful women in the future.

Working my way through this little masterpiece of novellas from some wonderful Australian authors.

First off is All My Heart by Rhonda Forrest. A story about a teacher from Canberra who steps into a relief position in Far North Queensland to gain some additional experience, en route to her job of a lifetime. She doesn’t realise how quickly the students of the local high school will get under her skin - first being obstructionist, and later being so open to her teaching methods. A story about a father and his son who don’t see eye to eye, and how the teacher is able to bridge the gap between them, whilst forming relationships of her own that will change her life forever.

The Green Place by Louise Forster is a story about an award winning journalist whose assignment is to write a piece about a farmer (named Joe of course) using sustainable methods to turn his family farm into a raging success. She met Joe once before and things went … well so she’s looking forward to seeing him in his own environment. What follows is a glimpse of a possible life for them together. There’s a twist in this one involving Grace’s past.

Love In Between by Leanne Lovegrove is a story about a disgraced chef forced to come to a country town to care for his young niece after his sister dies. He doesn’t expect to be welcomed by a local woman who seeks to be everything to everyone. Their road to romance is rocky and impacted by alcohol misuse and parental alienation. This one is an emotive read.

I am a big fan of Leanne Lovegrove’s, so I knew any book containing one of her stories I would love. Although I have never read stories by the other ladies of this anthology, I knew it would be a good read. And it was. Each story is well written and unique but contain the bonding thread of love. These stories are rich with interesting characters, beautiful landscapes and life events that many can relate to. Each author has managed to use the short story form in a very positive way to tell a complete satisfying tale. The collection of stories are engaging and memorable and will be a favourite with rural fiction lovers. 5 Stars

All My Heart - Rhonda Forrest
A beautiful story, you will lose yourself not only in the delightful surroundings of Tranquil Bay but also in the lives of the wonderful characters. The characters must learn to trust and accept change; they must learn how to accept change without being afraid of the consequences of their actions, or they may miss out on happiness. I wish there were more teachers like Tess that cared for their students like she did.
A wonderful read, recommend.

The Green Place - Louise Forester
What a wonderful story!!
Grace, a well travelled journalist, arrives in Binowee to interview a sexy farmer, Joe Mathews. Joe is a single dad and not overly impressed about Grace arriving but when they meet there is a spark that neither can deny. In no time, Grace has made a beautiful connection with Joe and his young son, Finn.
This story is filled with emotion and fabulous characters and such a fabulous setting, such a happy story filled with love.

Love in a Sunburnt Land ~ Volume 2 is a lovely group of Australian short stories written by five very talented Aussie girls!

It's a little bit 'country' set in vast Australian landscapes and towns.

Each story is just a little bit different in it's own way but all relate to 'single dads' and how they deal with their own situations.

Is it possible to find love again?
