Rule #4: Captains must lead by example

Benjamin Cruz is so close to achieving his dream, just a few more months until all of his dedication and sacrifices pay off and he'll finally make it to the NHL. He's obeyed every rule, missed out on so much of the quintessential college experience, and keep his team in line. He just has to reach graduation without any drama, and he thinks it will be as easy as an empty-net shot until pictures surface that could destroy everything he worked so hard for.

Gracie Burns is mad. No, she's pissed. She wasted nearly four years parading around as the doting girlfriend. A perfectly poised, always smiling, supportive robot. All because she thought, very naïvely she now admits, one day her boyfriend would propose and they would live happily ever after while he took the NFL by storm. Now she knows the truth, and she wants revenge for the years she lost. So it's quite serendipitous that the most eligible bachelor on West Penn's campus is looking for a picture-perfect girlfriend to score the approval of NHL scouts.

Can these two pull of the assist of the century, or are they both destined for heartbreak?

If you like Pippa Grant and Ilsa Madden-Mills, you'll love this new adult college romance from Brittney Mulliner.

Brittney has been an avid reader since she can remember. Her parents' form of punishment for her growing up was taking away her books and making her go outside to play. She was born and raised in Southern California, with a brief hiatus in Arizona. She loves the beach, exercising, sleeping in, and cookies. She is an obsessive dog lover, although her affection currently has no outlet. Something that she is planning on remedying soon. She and her husband currently reside in the Rocky Mountains exploring and hiking as much as possible.

Great but a little disappointed in the ending

I’ve read this whole series and each one is different from the last. Grace really had a user for a boyfriend. The more you find out about him the more terrible you see he was. Thankfully Chris the ex does get what he deserves for being a horrible selfish man. I really enjoyed the connection between Benjamin and Grace. They seemed like great friends from the start. Despite the heavy Heavy drama in Grace’s and Benjamin’s life they made each other’s days lighter and brighter. They were getting closer and closer, then boom conflict! I was disappointed in the ending for Benjamin and Grace. Do they get together? Yes of course! But I wanted more of them actually together, not fake together. It’s just not as HEA feeling as the previous stories. It was lacking passion, like no great kiss and yay they are together scene. It was more of a ‘lets touch our foreheads together, kiss temples and start to date’ kind of wrap up.
Bonus in the book is that we do get to see the draft take place and find out what happens to the 4 seniors highlighted in each story so far.
Rating: PG, clean but Benjamin’s story revolves around accusations of misconduct with drugs alcohol and assault on a woman. These are discussed a lot. Also cheating on a significant other is another theme in the book. Distinct lack of kissing in book.

Sweet, contemporary, YA hockey romance

Romance, sweet, contemporary; series but stand alone read
Grace and Benjamin’s story is fraught with uncertainties as they both face scandals and disappointments due to other’s machinations. As Grace helps Benjamin out to try to prove his innocence from slanderous photos, they pretend date, but the feelings turn real for each of them.
Lots of moments of self reflection and learning about themselves, but such real and honest emotions, and of course, both of them geniuses, made for a lovely read.

Cute, but lacking . I’ve read the other books in the series and this one for me was lacking chemistry between the characters. I wanted more development between the two.
