Rebecca Regnier is one of my new favorite authors. I have now read three of the four books in the Summer Cottage series. I recommend reading the books in the proper order, as each books builds on the prior book/books. This was my least favorite of the three so far, because for some reason I could never quite warm up to Goldie.

The series is set in a small lake community in Michigan. Once a thriving area, a tornado had destroyed many businesses in the town. Although several decades had passed, most of the damaged buildings had not been rebuilt, and businesses were struggling to remain open. There was a extremely wealthy business man who wanted to come in and build major resort areas and attractions, but in the process the town would be demolished.

There is a group of town citizens who are trying to stop the resort from destroying their town. They are restoring some of the buildings on the square, and are trying to woo business owners to choose their town in which to open stores.

Goldie spent the summers of her youth helping her parents maintain summer cottages. Upon high school graduation, she moved to Hollywood in hopes and dreams of becoming a movie star. Now in her early fifties, a crisis sent her into hiding. An old friend brings her to town, and sets her up in an old, run down, closed resort hotel. Goldie will have to decide what she really wants to do next in order to be truly happy and fulfilled.

I found it difficult to relate and bond with Goldie. She never really became a round character who stood out from the crowd. She had reached a crossroads in her life, but the inner struggles were not really described or acted out. There is an element of romance, and yet it never got off the ground.

The third book in this wonderful romance series set around a lake in Irish Hills. Libby Quinn spent her Summers here, with four other girls, they named themselves the Sandbar Sister's.

Now nearing her 50s , Libby was lured back by her Aunt Emma to save the town. Slowly and surely, Libby is trying to get her Sister's back too, all if them at a time in their life where they need a change, or in Goldie's case, a place to hide!

Goldie, a Hollywood icon, has made her money in films. She's good at what she does. However, a mistake may cost her her career, and she needs a place to hide; has Libby arrived at the right time to provide that place?

I'm binge reading the series, and each book is so hard to put down. The books are best read in order of publication to preserve continuity of the characters and story. I can't wait to read book four...

What a Great Summer Read!

Sandbar Summer (Summer Cottage Novels Book 3 ) by Rebecca Regnier, what a great Summer Read this was. This book, the third in the series, was just as good as the 1st 2. Loved the chance to learn about the most famous of the Sandbar Sisters, Goldie. These books definitely make you want to rush out and go to a charming small town in the Midwest on the water, either to vacation or even to live!!! Really looking forward to the next book in the series!! ❤️❤️

Regnier is unstoppable

Usually a book series wanes as the books continue, Not the Sandbar Series. Each book gets better and better. As I get to know each Sandbar sister, I become more enamored with the world the author has created, cheering them on, wanting their success, wishing them well. A spell has been cast on me and I can’t seem to break it, ignoring my house & obligations in favor of immersing myself into this imaginary world. THAT is an author’s goal. Well done, Ms. Regnier!

Another great Summer Cottage book

Sandbar Summer is a 5 star read for me. I grew up close to Irish Hills, where this book takes place. It's fun following the sandbar sisters grown up and going back to their old stomping grounds. It's nice being familiar with the area these friends have come together at. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in this series. I love these books by Rebecca Regnier!

Home is not always a place

Goldie made it to Hollywood as she had planned since first grade. Thirty years later, she found herself back in Michigan, licking her wounds and hiding out with the help of her friend Libby. She loved this little town of Irish Hills, but Hollywood was calling once again. I love these women and their stories. Looking forward to Vivs

The Sandbar Sisters shine once again with their unwavering support and genuine affection, reminding readers how powerful true friendship can be. The setting is beautifully rendered lazy lakeside days, cozy small-town charm, and an old hotel brimming with possibility create a backdrop that feels wonderfully escapist. Add in a slow, sweet budding romance and you have the perfect summer read.

Reclaiming Ones Sense of Self

Honestly, I feel each story is providing some type of lesson to be learned. The characters draw you in and don't let go until the end.

Goldie's story is no different. She brings a vulnerability to her character which makes her that's much more interesting.
