When Leah Hudson moves into her new bungalow in a quiet suburb of Glasgow, she’s ready for a fresh start. No more night shifts at the call center, instead, she’ll pour all her energy into her budding Internet business. All seems perfectly idyllic, and she’s even starting to connect to her reclusive but attractive neighbor, Matt. But trouble has a habit of finding Leah, and soon she’ll find that her new life isn’t as quiet and simple as she had hoped.
Matthew Argyle has been keeping to himself ever since developing delusions about turning into a bear against his will. He doesn’t even leave the house, except to spend time in his backyard when the neighborhood sleeps. The arrival of a new neighbor, Leah, throws his carefully orchestrated life into a tailspin. He can’t ignore the attraction, yet he’s unwilling to subject her to his crazy.
One night, everything changes yet again. Matt must decide which is more important: staying in his comfort zone, or coming to the rescue of the woman he’s begun to love.
This paranormal romance novella is the fourth in the Scottish Werebear series. For the best experience, readers are advised to read the series in order.
Lorelei Moone is an author of paranormal romance based in London. A lover of all things sweet and caffeinated, when she's not writing about sexy bear shifters and their strong-willed curvaceous love interests, Lorelei can be found baking cookies or cakes for her family.
She got her start writing bear shifters in the well received Scottish Werebear series (2015-2016), and its spin-off, Alpha Squad (2016-2017). To binge-read these today, make sure to buy the boxed set collections. Additionally, she's written of vampires in her Vampires of London series (2016-2017), and has just begun her foray into paranormal fantasy romance with the Shifters of Black Isle series (2018-2019).
Most of her titles are also available in print as well as audio, so you can enjoy them in your favourite format.
Lorelei also writes contemporary / erotic romance as L. Moone.
This was definitely the best book in the series, everything followed a logical order as far as the plot goes. There was a great start to the relationship and romance and there was a great epilogue. Really enjoyed reading about these characters.
A New Beginning brings home the lost and opens new doors. Matthew Argyle & Leah Hudson finds that life can open doors in the least likely of places and heal old wounds. Stepping outside of what we know can make for a good thing and an even bigger blessing.
This story shoots pains right through the heart starting off with the child that came up missing so long ago how it happened and his feelings on that day. The fear along with his broken heart of how he was taken and what he was told really brings home what each child must go through when kidnapped. I can’t even imagine what it would be like to know you turn into something and not know why. Matt’s story is one of the saddest I have ever heard there is a bright side such as it is which still doesn’t take away from what and how it happen. It might start out on a sad note but does get brighter as Matt’s brother brings him home which still leaves Matt feeling lost and alone. This is the story of Matt learning what he is, how to deal with it and the women he loves. Not everything is as it seems there is much danger as one man fights for control taking over many lives for the good of the cause or so he said. We learn those we trust can’t be trusted and those we don’t trust me might want to.
Mr. Blackthorne’s narration was very good with interesting character voices that blends well with the story. His male voices are just as good as his female’s one. You always know who is talking and what their emotions are. There was one place that I could tell the volume changed just enough that you could tell if you were listening. I am guessing this is when a break was taken. Other than that the volume was very even throughout the audio. There are no background noises this is a very clear and clean audio. Mr. Blackthorne has a very nice voice his normal voice is just as great as his characters ones. I have to say for a man he does a very lovely female voice. His voice did pull me in making me feel comfortable and right at home. The author does an outstanding job with the passionate scenes really giving the first night of love true emotions. I have really enjoy listening to this series and look forward to listening to more of his work..
The characters are great the author really pulls you in breaking your heart you want to go back in time and pull Matt right out of the pages giving him back to the people he lost. Out of the whole series this one has touched me in so many ways. Again this could be listening to as a standalone the author fills in the missing parts it is better to listen to as a whole to get the full impact of the story. A short listen that really gets you in the heart bring great characters as they deal with issues from outside their race along with inside. The author does pull you in, her writing style is good she said a lot in a little time. There is action, danger, fear, love and power of one who wants control.
Leah the new neighbour and Matt the recluse. When Leah moves in she and Matt strike up a texting/whatsapp dialogue. Living side by side, it is the only way she can be close to Matt who never leaves his home. Matt thinks he is crazy. Then one night some maniacal skin heads break into Leah's house and everything goes to hell in a handbag. This one is my fave so far. I loved both MCs. Leah is strong but sweet and Matt is naive but devoted. I was less enamoured with Margaret who will be in the next book as well with her mate, Henri, who run the local Alliance chapter. Matt brings a new perspective to the age old dilemma of shifters/Alliance vs Sons of Domnall/skin head genocidal idiots and the need for secrecy. Not really a stand-a-lone, but maybe? Wish this one had been a bit longer.
What a lovely story, even the second time around. The sadness at times, producing tears, yet, the slow realization that things have changed, forever, while still sad, but not heart breaking. This one just hit on all the feelers, but knowing it gets better, ( because I’ve already read the series), helps. A lovely story, a heartfelt read. What a fabulous author.
Likeable characters. The plot wasn’t bad but sometimes it feels like the characters skip steps in getting past the conflicts to the happy ending. I would have liked to see the explanations between the protagonists near the end instead of everything being solved by sex.
•Stolen Glances WOW! This one will pull you in from the start! Each of these novellas are a quick read and could be read as a standalone HEA, but I recommend reading the complete series in order to get the little tidbits of background information on everything. Although Matt, a bear shifter was a young boy when he was taken off the beach at Applecross Bay, his childhood home with his brother and parents, he still remembers the day he was taken by the woman who raised him as her own. Because he doesn't understand why his mind plays outlandish delusions on him and makes him think he turns into a bear, after she died he became a recluse. Being a freelance writer helped and he only answered the door when he had things delivered. He was afraid of someone moving into the empty place next door, he liked being alone. However fate had other ideas, once he seen her, he couldn't stop thinking of her. Then she brought him a gift and left it on his front porch. Why can he sense where she is? Leah needed a change from the city, having her Internet business making homemade bath products made it easy to make and ship from anywhere. The quiet town of Gartcosh, a sleepy village near Glasgow, was just the place to start fresh. Her neighbor Carrie came to introduce herself quickly and told her that their neighbor on the other side was reclusive and she'd probably never meet him. Leah didn't like that idea and decided to make an attempt to meet him. After leaving him a gift on his door, she waited for him to make the next move, and he did, he emailed her a simple thank you, which started their correspondences. They conversed each night before going to bed, until the night someone broke into Leah's house and tried to take her. Matt realizes it's not just in his head and he's not alone. However, he finds out a whole lot more than he ever thought possible. What happens with Leah and Matt? You'll have to read Scottish Werebears: A New Beginning to find out, but it'll be worth the time you take to read it! I can't wait to read Book 5 Scottish Werebear: A Painful Dilemma to find out what happens next! I received an ARC copy via IndieSage in exchange for a blog tour review. Due to sexual content this novel is recommended for readers 17 and older! FAVORITE PASSAGE: -a new beginning; a new life of sorts.
Scottish Werebear A new Beginning is the fourth book in the series, and if you haven't read the previous books, do so. The series has love, intrigue, conflict, and definitely shifters. Matt was abducted as a child by a group who hates shifters, so he thought he was crazy when he started shifting into a bear at 17. He then isolated himself inside his house, and even has all of his groceries delivered to his door so that he has no contact with anyone. I felt so sorry for him, living such a lonely life. Then Leah moves in next door, and as she is his true mate (however Matt knows nothing about shifters and true mates) he can't ignore her. They leave gifts for each other at their fence, and text each other. I loved how they watched the movie Dracula "together". When Leah is mistakenly targeted by the Sons Of Domnall, who hate shifters, and are the group who abducted Matt as a child, Matt and Leah finally meet face to face for the first time. However not as human to human. They are rescued by the Alliance, a group of shifters trying to stop the Sons Of Domnall. Matt's brother works for the Alliance and the two brothers are finally reunited. There are still conflicts because the leader of the Alliance, Adrian Blacke, wants to control shifters and who they associate with. The mixed shifter couples have to keep their relationships secret, because they are being watched by the Alliance. The gifts and dialogue between Matt and Leah were funny and sweet. Matt is a sweet, tender, reclusive man. It was fun seeing him come out of his shell. I can't wait to find out what happens next, and if all of the mixed shifter couples will have their happily ever after and not have to keep their love secret.

REVIEW
*May contain spoilers *
I find I really enjoy these bear shifter books and this author always gives a well-written story. This is book four in this series.
Matt was kidnapped when he was 7 years old and his brother Jamie has been looking for him for many years. Matt has no idea about things that would have started happening to him when he turned a certain age all he knows is he becomes a bear and he is not sure why.
The woman who kidnapped Matt has now passed away and left him the home he has grownup in. He tends to stay to himself but all that changes once a beautiful woman moves in next door to him. Her name is Leah and she is starting an online business but becomes obsessed with her sexy, gorgeous neighbor.
One night something happens at Leah's home and Matt who is a recluse must make a decision, which will change things between him and Leah.
This is a short and sexy read. I would recommend starting with book one in this series.
I was gifted a copy of this book for my honest review Lorelei Moone
After reading books 1-3 I had to read book 4 and read Matthews story. Don’t worry this book is a standalone.
Matthew Argyle felt like he was going crazy. He could picture himself turning into a bear and knew that was not possible. He had been taken when he was very young. He did not know anything about shifters. This had left him not wanting to leave the house or be around people.
Leah had been attracted to this strange neighbor. She wanted so badly to get to know him. She could not understand the strange pull she felt toward him. Then one night she had a break in and Matthew disappeared.
Matthew will learn about shifters and how shifters are not allowed to be with humans. He has a problem with this knowledge since he has fallen in love with Leah.
Leah and Matthew will have a lot of obstacles to face. Matthew will have to deal with a lot of things emotionally and Leah will have to learn about shifters. Can these two make things work with everything stacked up against them?
If you read Jamie's book then you know about the Brown abduction. Now 15 years later Matt is living alone in his 'kidnapper mom's' place in the middle of a quiet neighborhood. Now he is a recluse and lives his life through a laptop, he is a writer for articles, he even buys groceries online so he never steps a foot outside, other then his back yard.
Leah moves in next door to Matt and has her own business, bathroom products. When she gets curious about the mysterious Matt she has to try and meet him, but doesn't get a easy time of meeting him.
Good news Jamie will get his brother back but Matt has to be tested for his ability to keep his bear in when the surge of adrenaline kicks up. How much can big brother punch his baby bro before his bear can be held off, for me this was a a touching moment, they got to get their rough housing in as his test and some quality time for Jamie to be with Matt and helping him guide through this. Something Matt should have had when he was 17.
I loved book 3 the best, so I wasn’t sure how this book was going to go. But I am here to say I loved it as much if not more than my former favorite.
Leah sure knows how to make a bear sweat, because poor Matthew doesn’t know how to act around her. Or how to feel, or how to make out his feelings for the human who moves in behind him.
I just loved the dynamic between these 2, both hesitant but have this connection they want or need to be together.
But this book also explains about the boy who disappeared in the first novel. And how that all comes about I am not going to let any spoilers come out just that if you read and enjoy the first three books like I did, than you’re going to want to read this book as well.
So glad that Matt was found and that he then saw his older brother who he thought was dead. They are both bear's. And now Matt got to see his mom and dad again.
Oh man what this one tugs at your heart. If you read book three you know how when Jamie was younger his little brother was kidnapped. Well this is Matty’s story or Mathew as he is now. The poor gut doses not even know he is a shifter. And he has become a recluse that never leaves his cabin or property unless it is dark outside. That is until his new neighbor Leah moves in. there is just something about her. He just does not know what. But now it is up to Jamie to be there to help his brother realize what he truly is. And how to control his inner bear. Which he could have done years ago if they had not kidnapped and taken him away from them. On to the next book cannot wait to see what happens
I love how this new beginning started. I adore Matt and Leah's courtship of small gifts and text-dating. I like that they manage to get close without meeting (seems like internet dating) although they did see each other. I always wondered from the first books if we would ever find out what had happened with Matt so long ago. I am glad we got to. I also like how Leah is strong and didn't get all hysterical female over Matt becoming a bear. I really hope that the shifters do go public so the whole shifter-human thing can stop being taboo in this series.
This is the 4th book in this series. They are short stand alone books that follow the same theme. Some characters crossover, but it's not confusing. Matt was taken at a young age. Raised in a totally different lifestyle. The new neighbor Leah awakens a new beginning for him. Then craziness happens and flips his world upside down. Matt and Leah have many obstacles to overcome. Is there bond strong enough? If you like paranormal and/or short stories. Then you will like this. I received this book from IndieSage PR in exchange for an honest review.
An ARC was given to me for an honest review. Jamie has finally found out where his little brother is located. He was kidnapped when he was seven years old. He doesn't know why he changes into a bear. She's moved in next door to him and they've struck up an online relationship. She finally meets his bear when he comes to rescue her when her home is broken into. Things are getting interesting and possibly headed in a different direction. Enjoy I did.
Real nice addition to the series. I loved that each of these books had their own personalities and subjects. I am so glad Jamie finally found his brother. It was sad the way they treated him but great that his brother trained him to hold in his bear. Matt is a recluse and I felt that Leah also had some of those tendencies herself. Which made them a great pair. I received this book free in exchange for an honest review.
Jaime's missing brother has been found. Matt was raised a shifter and doesn't understand the changes he has been going through. And to throw a new problem in the mix, his new neighbor seems to draw him to her.
The short story is all about shifters and accidentally finding a mate. There are always bad guys out to hunt and kill the shifters. This is a fast read but always enjoyable.
Awesome series! I love reading Lorelei Moone's books. I'm so glad that Jamie finally have Matt back in his life. It's and easy, quick read. Matt and Leah had been through so much. I'm glad that they was able to find each other. Can't wait until I can read the next book in the series. Keep up the awesome work!! Definitely an must have!
A feel good interlude just the right length for a quick read. I appreciate the way the author is able to depict the characters so clearly and also integrate the problems of shifters into what we call real life. I loved it! Patrick Blackthorne continues to demonstrate his excellent capacity for differentiating characters and emotions.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I really loved this short story about bear-shifter Matt falling in love with his new neighbor. And that he ultimately finds his family again after spending so many years apart.
