Environmental statistics are a high-profile area of study throughout the world. The SPRUCE initiative (Statistics in Public Resources Utilities and in Care of the Environment) was set up to promote interest in this area. This volume contains the proceedings of the 1st SPRUCE Conference, held in Lisbon, Portugal.
