After the discovery of a second victim in Port Hope who closely resembles his childhood friend, Jerry and Gunter find themselves traveling to Niagara Falls, NY. Jerry feels certain he is dealing with more than a random coincidence. A feeling that is soon backed up by a visit from the spirit of another of the man’s victims.
Jerry will need to use all his paranormal resources if he and his ghostly K-9 partner Gunter are going to convince authorities they have a serial killer on their hands.
Things get even more complicated when the police want to know how Jerry just happens to know where all the bodies are buried, further threatening to destroy his former boss Seltzer’s career if Jerry doesn’t come clean about how he is able to solve another unsolvable case.
Having no other choice, Jerry must tell them of his communication with the spirits of the deceased. Will the detectives believe him, or will Gunter soon be forced to visit Jerry in a ten-by-ten cell?

I was a little bored, looking for something quick to read to pass the time. I stumbled on to the first book in this series and read it for fun. I finished it quickly and started on the next one. Sad to say, I just finished with this 6th one. Sad because now I have to wait for the next one. Jerry and Gunter are still traveling the country, helping so many people along the way to avoid their own death because he can see it happening. If he can just stop someone from doing something or stall them for just a few minutes, he can maybe keep them alive. Primarily, Jerry and Gunter, along with Jerry's boss when he was a State Trooper, are following the path of the hashtag killer; he's already killed at least 8 women that Jerry knows of. He knows because one of the killer's latest victims told him. Jerry sees and talks to ghosts. His best friend and protector is the ghost of Gunter, a K-9 police officer shot in the line if duty. If you can suspend belief for long enough to just jump into this series and enjoy it, you're in for a lot of fun. Who wouldn't want a big German Shepard watching their back, especially when he's a ghost whose bite is really worse than his bark?
I love how this series intertwines the stories to connect them. Each story is well written, with each character being unique.
Poor Jerry McNeal didn't ask for his gift. He has been stuck with it all his life. He has spent a lot of time being mad and frustrated because no one believes him until he proves he has this gift.
I love this storyline. Each story is unique, and I sure am not looking forward to seeing it end. Enjoy the stories. I highly recommend them!
Although I am not a big fan of series where each book is not a complete standalone and the main theme runs through many books, this series has me hooked - and anxiously awaiting the solving of the main mystery whilst all the little side mysteries are great too as are the numerous recurring characters. The Jerry McNeal series has a very good storyline, I’m really liking the series the more I’m reading it, Jerry and his ghostly K-9 Gunter are an excellent team. These books are relatively quick reads, which I like at the moment. I am devouring each book and moving straight onto the next in the series immediately after finishing the book. I have had a few laugh out loud moments with both the human and dog antics.
Jerry McNeal is on the case of a serial killer, who liked redheads, and had been able to get away with the deaths because the bodies couldn't be found and the cases weren't linked because they occurred in different states. His ability to speak with the dead, see them and talk to them has put him in a vulnerable position as he attempts to find closure for the victims loved ones. How will Jerry be able to convince law enforcement that he's a conduit to the dead!
As the series goes, I think the earlier books were better. Since the series has taken the direction of hunting down a serial killer and his victims, each story is becoming rather routine. Crime stories are not this author’s strong point. She was presenting a more interesting story when focusing on the ghost dog and the main character intercepting current events. Now, the series have become carbon copies of each other with only the locations and names of the dead victims being changed.
Jerry is on the move to find more ghosts and give closure, but the brother of the previous victim isn’t wanting to let go of vengeance. Seltzer(previous boss) is getting in danger from this desire and Jerry is somewhat hampered by the issues that Fabel has created for that vengeance. The ghost this time is very expressive and of course Jerry helps rescue a few others along the trip. Gunter is amazing and I love his passion for helping and protecting. Seltzer and Jerry are a great father son relationship and the cabin side trip was a great side story!
I am in love with this series. I found myself hanging on every word. Watching Jerry evolve into his powers is amazing. Makes me look at every happening in my life differently as well. There are powers we don't know about in this world and the next. Keep an open mind. Message sent and received. Well written by a keen writer. No one reading this series will be disappointed.
Book 6. Somehow I skipped over Book 5 and had to forge ahead with this one (will go back to Book 4) - but that didn't stop me from enjoying everything about this story. Definitely enjoy how Jerry and Gunter are progressing with finding their way together in their path forward. Love Jerry and the Sergeant's relationship. Looking forward to all completing all the books in the series. Still loving the audio books.
Jerry heads to Niagra Falls following his psychic intuition. They know they are after a serial killer. But the police begin to ask questions, as it seems suspicious that this man knows where all the bodies are. Only a killer would know that. Jerry is concerned if he reveals his true nature, that it will endanger his former boss's career. He decides to come clean about his powers, but will they believe him, or will they lock him up as crazy?
Jerry and Gunter are still on the trail of what’s looking like a serial killer. We get more Seltzer in this book and it’s nice to see the friendship between him & Jerry. These books just keep getting better as the series progresses. I wish they were longer though. I need many many more of these books!
Jerry has grown into his abilities and he likes Gunter the dead K-9. Gunter is the coolest dog ever, even though he's dead. It's A shame the author decided to make these books cliff hangers, by having a primary plot of the"hash tag killer" and different sub plots. The series is strong enough to stand on its own, no need for gadgets. And the books are excellent.
Another quick, tight read from Ms. Burton as psychic Jerry McNeal seems to be settling into his new dedicated path to help ghosts and the living find closure and hopefully apprehend a murderer. Jerry is sort of the "just the facts, m'am" when interacting with ghosts and Gunter is full of protecting Jerry and helping wherever he can. Really like this team and their results.
Jerry and Gunter are on target again.. Another redhead for his Hashmark Killer
Jerry and Gunter are back on the hunt, another Redhead has contacted him and wants to be found. Why he is being called on he is discovering. He is only one crazy enough to listen and follow through. But it is coming at a cost. The ones who didn’t find her when they should are starting to blame him.
Another great story of the former Marine, former state trooper, a man who can see and communicate with spirits/ghosts, and his ghost K-9 partner, Gunter. By now, I have so much interest in this story that I immediately bought the next book in the series and read it all the way through. More about that later. Keep 'em coming, Ms. Burton!
I hate cliffhangers, the other books were tied up nicely, but here we have a cliffhanger! I say just write a longer book or whatever you need to do but end the tale! Every book should have proper beginning, middle and a complete story before ending. This one ended in the middle. With that said, I still like the writing style and the characters. Love the dog!
Every couple of books, when I’m still reading, I leave a review. At this point, there’s almost no way I’m not reading all 14, and I’m going to be sad if there aren’t more coming. I don’t want to put them down to do what I should be doing, like sleeping. Thank you!
Another body, another redheaded ghost. Jerry spends a bit of quality time with his old Boss Sergeant Seltzer at his summer lodge by a good fishing lake, but it's not long before Jerry sees another redhead spirit, and they find out from Gunter, that there's a bit of a dark secret in Sergeant Seltzers wife's family.
I just Love this series. The story doesnt slow down or get boring. I cant wait to start book 7. Its interesting to me how many things connect me to the books. I now live in Michigan, i have family that lived in Port Sanilac. I lived 30 minutes from Biltmore House in North Carolina. My husband just downloaded book 1 tonight.
It's definitely uncanny that the Detective, Jerry McNeal is able to find bodies that have been buried for some time before he still finds them. I am not a true believer in the psychology of finding bodies that have been buried for a great deal of time! I am a full Christian and believe that God can certainly help out the psychological pathways of these souls!
Like the series but way to short. I read 3 books in a day. like to be entertained a little longer when I read a book. A couple of annoying things while reading but could be annoying just to me. Same story over and over just a different dead person(s), but still an enjoyable short read. Will continue and finish the series.
The suspense is ramping up as Jerry and Gunter find another missing woman and he finds himself under scrutiny. He and Saltzer solve an ancient family mystery. Great series.
The characters are just so real I feel like I am in the story. I can not wait for the next book. I couldn't put the book down, you get sucked in right away. Its been the same for the whole series. I wish she could write faster !! Keep hem coming.
Have thoroughly enjoyed this series so far. Really looking forward to book 7 being published. Definitely different. Very readable. Jerry is a very likeable hero and Gunther is quite a character. Would strongly recommend to anyone who enjoys a good read.
The only problem I have with this series is that now I have to wait for the next installment. All of the main characters are so likeable, and I especially like the interaction between Jerry and Gunter. I really love that dog.
I love this series! It satisfies my thirst for mystery, the supernatural with living and caring friendships along the way. Not to mention we have a reliable but flawed hero!!!What more could you want! Don't miss this author of her series you will regret it!!!
The author is managed to create mysteries with ghosts in them. The whole thing has a very solid feel. The characters, both living and dead, are interesting. And I adore Gunter. Good dog.
So far I have read six of her books and I really enjoy the stories. My only complaint is that the books are too short . I am reading them too fast and soon I will have to wait for the next book to be released. Give the books a try.
Jerry was a really good state patrolman. He is now an even better physic detective. I am loving this series of books. Drama, suspense, and thrills this series had it all.
This has been an intriguing series that keeps getting more interesting with each case. Looking forward to reading more. I would definitely recommend this book, series, and outstanding author.
