It has indeed been one fine day spent in Heart's Bend. Move over TCFC, there's a new cookie in town. Sam Hardy and Chloe Marie make one sweet couple. I am not a Titans fan, but Sam's number is the same as my favorite QB: the Chief's Patrick Mahomes. Love this squeaky clean sports/bakery romance. Definitely planning to follow this series.

'I'm not sure I can take the leap to trusting God, just like that. I've never felt God with me.'

I've long enjoyed Rachel Hauck's books, so when I heard Sunrise Publishing was pairing her with a new author, Carrie Padgett, to take a trip back to Heart's Bend, Tennessee, I was very excited to read the books. This first one in the series was so good!

Chloe and Sam's story was just so special. They've known each other all their lives and then meet up again after 15 years. Both have wrestled with situations in their past and have let fears from that crowd into their present. And, if they don't allow God to bring healing, they will carry this into their futures.

One thing I watched for here: Rachel Hauck always includes a touch of the Divine in her books, so I kept a keen eye out for it now. It totally showed up here! And the ending was simply superb! Recommended.

My thanks to the publisher for a copy of this book. The opinion in this review is entirely my own.

What a wonderful story! Having read some other books set in Hearts Bend, it was fun to come across a few familiar characters. However, if you haven’t read any other books in this setting, don’t worry, One Fine Day can be enjoyed as a stand alone novel.

I really liked these two main characters! I liked that Sam and Chloe fell back into their friendship quickly upon meeting each other again. However, the sparks of attraction between the two soon led to a tender and growing connection between them. They both had some things to move on from, however, and neither one had relied on God in a long time.

I liked that Sam was trying be a good man and was distancing himself from the playboy actions of years earlier. I appreciated that Chloe loved her late husband and treasured that relationship, yet recognized that there might still be love in her future.

I enjoyed this book from start to finish and look forward to reading more in this series.

A lovely return to one of my favorite fictional towns. I enjoyed the French tie ins through Chloe’s character very much and really liked her as a character. I also liked the bit of a mystery element with Sam’s broken relationship with his dad and with Chloe and her in-laws. The story was sweet and entertaining with a pretty perfect ending. Looking forward to more trips back to Heart’s Bend!

4.5 stars! I love this sweet addition to the Heart’s Bend novels. The characters are so good, even the side characters. I really hope to see many of them return in future books. I also loved seeing favorite characters from previous books make an appearance. There’s a great theme of forgiveness and letting go of past misunderstandings. I’m so thrilled to be able to return to my favorite fictional town. I’m so excited for the next book in the series! I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

One Fine Day by Rachel Hauck and Carrie Padgett return to Hearts Bend, TN, where The Wedding Dress, Wedding Chapel, and other novels by Rachel Hauck have taken place. In typical Contemporary Romance Fashion, Hauck and Padgett throw two characters, this time with a past, into Hearts Bend where they have to live with the choices that they have made currently and how to move on from them. Chloe is dealing with the recent death of her husband and returned home. Her dream of being a pastry chef from Paris tossed in the wind for a moment. Sam’s dream of football is put on hold also. Repressed emotions are thrown across the pages of the story. Sparks fly. Bakery delights are cooked. The plot moved along with many twists and turns to complicate the love story. The happily-ever-after moment ends the novel, tying everything nicely together. As a fan of Hauck’s other stories that take place in Heart Bend, it was nice to return and see how this sweet, yet sometime spiritual town has been doing. Overall, One Fine Day by Rachel Hauck and Carrie Padgett is a sweet treat for fans of contemporary romance novels. If readers enjoy Becky Wade, Betsy St. Amant, or Susan Wiggs, then this might be the novel for them.

“If he didn’t know better, he’d think this was some sort of celestial conspiracy.”

It’s a wonderful return to Hearts Bend, TN where football reigns supreme and delicious baked goods abound. Kudos to author Carrie Padgett on her first Sunrise Publishing accomplishment! Returning to this vibrant small town with beloved “old” characters and lovable new characters was quite fun. Sam’s quest for healing of body and soul was heart-aching and redemptive as he learned about himself, his deepest angst and grudge, and true forgiveness. Chloe’s journey from deafening grief to following her dream and living life fully was lovely to see. And Sam, though he does make blunders, is so incredibly sweet and romantic! A touch of supernatural (as is expected in any book guided by Rachel Hauck) rounded out the faith thread that was well-integrated into the plot line.

All you contemporary romance fans, head on over to Hearts Bend for another series of sweet, small-town charm and see whom God will redeem next!

I’m always excited to pick up a new Rachel Hauck book. When I saw she was partnering with Sunrise Publishers, I couldn’t wait to see who she choose and what their books were. She brought in Carrie Padgett and the first book in the series doesn’t disappoint!

I love the cover, the graphics, and the entire aesthetic. It’s adorable. The bar was set high for this and fulfilled all of it.

One Fine Day is a sweet second chance at love that draws Chloe and Sam closer to the Lord. I appreciated their thoughts as they asked questions of their faith and God’s direction in their lives. The characters were down to earth and relatable. You can’t go wrong with pastries and Paris, either!

I enjoyed this fun, sweet escape to a charming cozy town named Hearts Bend. Where main characters, young Chloe LaRue, and Sam Hardy, grew up, and moved on to chase their dreams. Chloe headed to Paris in hopes of becoming a pastry chef, and Sam landed in Tennessee to play quarterback for the Titans. After years of hard work, both Chloe and Sam find themselves heading back to Hearts Bend, where they face things, they didn’t want to.

Loved this story that whisks readers to France and then small-town Hearts Bend. I instantly cared for Chloe LaRue as she makes her way home to help her mother through her cancer treatments and grieve the loss of a loved one. Memories of Chole’s past flash back to her when she enters her childhood room. Chloe’s mother suggests she work so that they don’t stay underfoot 24/7, in walks Sam Hardy, the last person on earth she expected to see in Hearts Bend. Didn’t he move to Tennessee? Funny how she recalls memories of her school years, she and Sam were the closest of friends.

This is a delightful read with likeable, relatable characters determined to chase their dreams. Chloe LaRue’s desire to run a sweet bakery and Sam Hardy pursuing a Super Bowl ring. Life hasn’t turned out the way they planned. Fifteen years is a long time. Could they still be friends? Something more?

I enjoyed the hometown feel, their community and secondary characters like Rose. It was fun how the author included readers on the bakery remodel and had you cheer them on as they try to develop a new specialty cookie. I liked seeing Sam grow through his struggle about doing what’s best for the long game in life. I loved the natural spiritual thread and the family dynamic; with characters I could root for in a delightful small town I’d love to visit. I highly recommend this as a fun beach read and one for a fun book club pick.

A delightful contemporary Christian romance with all the "Sweet Magnolias" feels— and a little taste of Paris!
When devastated pastry chef Chloe LaRue returns home from her life in Paris to Hearts Bend, she has no intention of starting a new relationship while she is still grieving the loss of her young French husband. But she can't deny the rekindled feelings she has for her old high school crush, Sam Hardy.
Sam is a Tennessee Titans quarterback dealing with an injury that has him questioning everything—until his path collides with the beautiful baker, Chloe.
With delicious encounters in the Hearts Bend bakery and a whirlwind romance with its very own Cinderella moments, this is a lovely story in true Rachel Hauck style—and combines beautifully with the new voice of author Carrie Padgett.
An easy, breezy read with a thread of faith that weaves seamlessly throughout.

What a charming contemporary Christian small-town romance!

NFL quarterback Sam Hardy and pastry chef Chloe were friends in high school but parted ways shortly after. Eight years later, they reconnect recently widowed Chloe moves home from Paris to help her mom and takes a job at the local bakery...now owned by Sam.

Great characters with lots of depth and the romance was so sweet, even with poor Sam bumbling his way through parts of it though the man definitely knows how to do a grand gesture! Definitely some plot twists along the way and a whole host of delightful side characters. This is a Christian fiction so it had elements about faith, forgiveness and trusting in God.

A truly enjoyable read that left me wanting to pick up the Hearts Bend series by Rachael Hauck. Fans of Becky Wade would certainly enjoy this one! 4.5 stars

Loved it. I read it in one day . . . Saturday reading. It was genuine with a real life view of relationships not only in the romance but also in the family. Characters are down-to-earth, yet have surprising backgrounds that invite you to think deeper about their responses to the challenges they face. Looking forward to reading the rest of the books or should I say characters in this series as well as more from Carrie Padgett who Rachel Hauck was introducing in this book. The cover is fresh and gives a glimpse of the sweet bakery the story is centered around. I did receive an ARC copy of this book as a prize in a Facebook event.

“I’m not sure I even have enough faith to be useless.” “Just know that God loves you, He’s always there for you, and He will help you. He never leaves us.

This was my first visit in Hearts Bend and I enjoyed it enough to want repeat visits. Luckily for me more books are coming, but I can also catch up on Rachel Hauck’s books set in Hearts Bend which kicked of the idea of this collection.

If you enjoyed Susan May Warren’s Deep Haven series, you will enjoy this small town, close community setting as well.

“Faith takes time. It’s a muscle you have to work.

One Fine Day
by Rachel Hauck with Carrie Padgett
Book 1 in the Hearts Bend Collection
Rating: 4.5/5

Wow. What a way to launch a new collection featuring Hearts Bend, TN. Rachel Hauck has cultivated this vibrant and charming small town and now readers get to continue falling in love with more characters. As a huge fan of Rachel Hauck, I was super excited to see her partner with Carrie Padgett as a mentor through Sunrise Publishing to produce another story. I devoured this book in a few hours (I'm not ashamed to say I may not have gotten done what I was supposed to do today) and the book did not disappoint. I also appreciated the map of Hearts Bend at the beginning of the book. Who doesn't love a good book map?

First, how cute is the cover? It brings up warm and fuzzy small town vibes and it's just perfect. The style of the artwork is brilliant and now, I want a cupcake. LOL.
Second, who doesn't love stories about second chances? Friends-to-lovers? Who hasn't felt the sting of regret from an unspoken crush? Oh how I love fiction. The story is well written and plotted out. The authors did a great job working together to produce a lovely story.
Third, the main characters are perfectly flawed and need healing. They are dealing with their own serious issues and emotions, which make them very relatable and sympathetic. Their chemistry is also swoon worthy ;)
Fourth, the Touch of the Divine and the message of God's love is woven throughout and doesn't shy away from the tough subjects.

Highly recommend this charming small town story with so much heart and soul.

P.S. LK and Ruby are some of my favorite characters. Watch out for that cookie recipe.

My thanks to the author and publisher for providing me with an ARC of the book. All opinions expressed here are entirely my own. No positive review was expected and no compensation received.

I knew early on this one was a winner. Hearts Bend, Tennessee is the perfect place to spend an afternoon, and the characters Carrie and Rachel have created were just so fun, their history sweet and their arc's complex and satisfying.

Our hero, Sam was such a lovable and relatable man. I love the way he literally rolled his sleeves up and pitched in, supporting not only our heroine, Chloe, but his employees.

Chloe was such a well written and likable character. Her backstory was tragic! The losses she'd sustained made me love and root for her all the more. I love what the authors did in wrapping up the ongoing mystery of her former inlaws and her late husband. I was concerned for Chloe it was going to take an even sadder turn.

It wouldn't be Hearts Bend without a cast of quirky side characters that feel like people. Ruby! Y'all - Ruby is the absolute best. I want to be her friend. I found myself laughing out loud reading about her loving, but often "bossy" antics. She was the perfect addition to the story.

Hats off to Carrie Padgett and her debut with Sunrise Publishing. I am looking forward to more stories from her in the future.

#BOOKREVIEW : ONE FINE DAY by Carrie Padgett & Rachel Hauck

What’s your favorite type of cookie? I love oatmeal raisin cookies but the people of Hearts Bend’s favorite was the Triple Chocolate Fudge Caramel. As a former pastry chef in Paris, Chloe was unaware of this popular Friday treat and had to find ways to replicate it. Everything they made at the bakery sounded delicious.

I liked the main and minor characters. No big conflict but just an entertaining small town story. It was a whirlwind romance but Sam and Chloe already knew each other growing up. Chloe was a good daughter despite her own personal issues. I also liked her relationship with her in-laws. I liked that despite him being famous, Sam remained humble. There were some faith elements while Sam and Chloe both tried to regain their faith and make peace with their past.

It was an easy read, with delightful aroma from Haven’s bakery and snippets of Paris. Laura Kate was very talented and I hope she will get her own story in the Hearts Bend series.

I immensely enjoyed this sweet romance from new author Carrie Padgett & one of my faves Rachel Hauck. This new story is set in my favorite small town of Heart's Bend! Chloe, a recent widow finds herself back in her hometown to help her ailing mom and maybe also a fresh start? Maybe so, when she finds out her high school crush Sam has invested in Haven’s Bakery where she just got hired. Between Sam’s rocky professional football career and Chloe’s fears and grief will these two ever be able to get on the same page of the recipe book?

I loved all the fun characters, descriptions of the delicious treats from the oven and the hilarious tweets sprinkled through the story. You are going to enjoy this sweet trip and I can’t wait for the next book in the series You’ll Be Mine , releasing soon! I am so grateful to Sunrise Publishing for sending me an advanced copy of this book for review consideration but all opinions are my own.

How delightful! I couldn't put this one down. It was so enjoyable; the writing was so smooth, and so captivating.
Not to mention the characters themselves were life-like and fun to read about. The romance in this novel was wonderful, and honestly, I loved every minute. I loved seeing Chloe and Sam together, first as re-acquainted friends, and then as more. It moved along at a very decent pace, and the plot was great.
I also really enjoyed the bits of French thrown in, as well as the visit to France - I'm learning French, and just found that fun. ^.^
I think it's wonderful having these new spin-off series of familiar book settings and authors - it's so fun finding new authors and seeing them continue on well-loved stories!
I look forward to seeing what else Carrie Padgett will write - loved her style.

Thanks to the publishers for the review copy. I was not required to write a positive review, all thoughts expressed are entirely my own.

Wow. So disappointing. The other novels I read by Hauck were so good! This one lacked .. well … everything.
Characters were ok. The story was good but the writing was horrible. Events seemed to just be written about and wrapped up quickly. Like in a couple of paragraphs. The final decisions of where they would live and what they were doing with their lives was made in maybe a chapter? Nothing was really explored or thought about much. And then poof! The right decision was clear!
At the end she was presented with a very big decision. God told her to do it. She knew it was the right one. But she ended up doing the exact opposite with no explanation or anything as to why. And w everything was supposedly wrapped up all neatly in a little how. And everybody so happy.
Very poorly depicted. I skimmed over the last half of the book.

Hallmark-esque story with a faith-filled storyline that isn’t wishy-washy? Um, yes please!

One Fine Day is a charming, faith-filled, sweet romance that moves past surface level. Along with mouthwatering descriptions of pasty, quaint small towns and the picturesque French countryside, One Fine Day by Carrie Padget and Rachel Hauck (published by Sunrise Media) looks deeper into grief and our need for God.

If you enjoy sweet treats, sweet football players, and second chances (and let’s be real, who doesn’t?), then One Fine Day is for you. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to satisfy my sweet tooth (and try to find a football player like Sam;)).

One Fine Day is the perfect summer read! Two long-time friends find themselves in the same town after many years of living separate lives and there may be more than a renewed friendship in the making. Their attraction is apparent but they both have issues that they need to resolve.

Rachel Hauck and Carrie Padgett have created a story with many appealing elements. Who doesn't appreciate a charming small-town setting and two people who deserve a second chance? The addition of romance and a strong faith message make this a wonderful Christian romance, so grab a copy of One Fine Day and prepare to lose yourself in Hearts Bend, Tennessee!

This was a beautiful story and I loved reading Sam and Chloe's journey.
Sam is a loveable down to earth hero who's made mistakes but admits them and tries his best to turn over a new leaf.
Chloe on the other hand has gone through so much pain my heart just felt really sad for her. Together I love how they just had that connection like the years hadn't come between them and how much they understood that their pasts made them who they were and was a part of their growth. I loved the themes of letting go of hurts and learning to trust God when it seems like all is lost.
A beautiful read.

This sweet novella takes us back to quaint Heartsbend, TN with all its charm. High school friends, Sam and Chloe, are both traveled different journeys but unexpected circumstances place both of them back in their hometown.

Sam is struggling to rehab after an injury to keep his NFL quarterback job and Chloe wonders if she will ever be while again after the sudden death of her husband. When life places them working together, their friendship picks up where it left off. Could the sparks between them help both of them to find the healing they have been looking for?

Another excellent Rachel Hauck story! I look forward to the next one.

Actually a 4.5 romance

Chloe lost her husband and her mother has breast cancer so she moves home to help. Getting a job at the local bakery she runs into her new boss who is a childhood friend. When a spark between them happens can they push it aside or will they dive into a romance. Fun romance story that is clean and Christ based for all you out there who is in a lookout for those things. Highly recommend!!
