A breakout literary phenomenon and #1 New York Times Bestselling Author, Rupi Kaur wrote, illustrated, and self-published her first poetry collection, 'milk and honey' in 2014. Next came its artistic siblings 'the sun and her flowers' and ‘home body’, both debuting at #1 on bestseller lists across the world. These collections have sold more than 11 million copies and have been translated into over 43 languages. Most recently in 2022- she released her 4th book ‘Healing Through Words’ which is a journey of guided writing exercises to help the reader explore their creativity.
As she has done from the very beginning, Rupi self-produced ‘Rupi Kaur Live’, the first poetry special of its kind, which debuted on Amazon Prime Video in 2021.
Rupi Kaur graces stages across the globe on sold-out world tours. These shows are a poetic theatrical experience interlaced with her own touch of stand-up. Her work touches on love, loss, trauma, healing, femininity, and migration. She feels most at home when creating art, performing her poetry onstage, and spending time with family and friends.
This is a parody book. It's also not funny. Whoever wrote this is a huge fan of racism, misogyny and transphobia, even using the t slur in a racist and transphobic context at one point? Huh? I dislike kaur's writing so was interested in a parody, but this reads like something written by some bloke who doesn't see sunlight.
this book is a parody written to make fun of rupi kaur !! it is incredibly racist i couldnt get through it but just do not pick up this book. its not an actual rupi kaur book.
Nu ne, ne man tokios rašliavos.
First of all, let me just mention that this is not actually by rupi kaur. This is a parody book mocking rupi kaur’s poetry. Now, if only I’d known that before I bought it. This book started out okay. It wasn’t exactly good, but it wasn’t terrible. But afterwards, oh boy. It was a disaster. What was written in this book cannot be described as poetry. 10 year old me wrote better than this person did. This book was hateful, disgusting, stupid and just plain weird. Most of the time I was staring at the book in shock and horror. This is not a poetry book. This is essentially a garbage can on fire. That’s the only way to describe it. If you’re planning to read this book, don’t. I’m not just advising you to not read this book, I am begging you. I cannot get back the money I wasted on this, but you do not have to suffer with me. Please, just take this horrid excuse of a poetry book off your tbr. Trust me, it’s for the best.
Though many of the topics in this book are hush-hush per say, it is the most impactful book when approaching self care head on. I would read it when you are lost or happy or alone or around those you love. Just read it.
I’m sorry what did I just read… If I could give it 0 stars I would that is my real rating.
*update. After reading a couple of reviews all i have to say is; This is horrible. I won’t say more cuz I try not be negative in my little reviews. I think there is enough negativity in this world.
I can’t believe I read nearly this entire book before realising it was a scam. I’ve cried with laughter at the fact I tried to relate to the poems I was like ‘yeah we should definitely all try anal’. Honestly I’ve been humoured. Despite some of it being funny there was a ‘poem’ that I felt were mocking the LGBTQ+ and then the poems felt racist. If you’re going to get this book please find the actual book by actual author rupi kaur
Many of the poems that Rupi wrote I agree with, but that was a whole 1%. The other 99% of the book I disliked and felt disconnected from what she wrote. Understandably, poetry is such a unique and personal story when one writes it and concurrently when the reader reads it the be able to connect.
I did not connect with this at all. It felt very much like a first draft where you just write everything down and then revise to see what fits….but this is just left at a first draft.
Thank the universe the post office took longer to deliver the book which resulted into Amazon refunding me even though I did receive the book (but later) - because WHAT THE ACTUAL F*CK. I did not know this was a scam or parody and I’m sad to only now just read the reviews. I’m grateful I did not spend any money on this and just read it all in one sitting before I decided to potentially buy it as a birthday present for my friend, because this is just horrible and OUTRAGEOUS. As I was reading it I became more and more sceptic and thinking it must be some sort of joke because of the random ugly f*cking drawings and the non-stop an*l talk. I don’t know who is profiting off of this but you better donate your profits to charity because you do not deserve a percentage of what you make by scamming people like this. Do NOT buy!
I give it actually a 3.5 and i hope my picks won't always be a 3 :( for the rest of the year. Well yes it's divided into chapters but the division is not illustrated. The poet is obsessed with bu *ttholes WHY ! Also i found some expression disgusting instead of pleasing especially when food is included. The collection doesn't deserve a long review but shortly i'll highlight: Good things : supports the nature of the woman and womanhood, it's not perfect but rather real that it made me want to celebrate some simple things. Bad things : some expressions are poor i can say !! It's not a WoW. It made me think but didn't raise any further questions and any book that doesn't make me do that, its rating never exceeds the range of 3 🌟
Honest and tender, it explores love and healing from a deeply feminine lens. Even from a guy’s perspective, the emotion still hits and makes you reflect. Some parts feel distant, like reading someone else’s diary, but that’s the beauty of it. It’s introspective and quietly powerful.
This book wasn't my favorite. Doesn't seem like an rupi book , it's had a lot a racism and stuff about anal in it. Just not something I would read again
