Eve has always lived on Ennisfarne, an idealic island just off the coast of Northumberland and only accessible when tides are low. There she runs a bar on Darling Cove, named after her ancestors who settled there many year ago.
Logan is a famous photographer desperate to get away from the bad press after a difficult break-up. Renting a cabin from Eve, he chooses Darling Cove for it’s beautiful views and the hope of anonymity.
The pair don’t get off to the best start, butting heads over Eve’s adorable but boisterous Chocolate lab. But when Lucas’ famous identity is revealed, Eve can’t resist the urge to help him.
I’ve wanted to write books for adults for as long as I can remember but I was too scared to try. One day I decided to be brave and dipped a toe into the bubble bath of romantic comedy with my first novella, Cupidity, and I’ve never looked back. I often try to be funny to be funny, except for when faced with traffic wardens and border control staff. My favourite thing is making people smile.
I’ve tried many jobs over the years, from barmaid to market researcher and I even had a brief flirtation with modelling. These days I am mostly found writing.
I live near London with my grey tabby cat, Portia. We both have an unhealthy obsession with Marmite.
Eve and James (Logan) do not quite hit it off with an incident between her dog and his camera. Until both start to realise the other has hidden depths with Logan at least in deep with an ex girlfriend and the press after him. They should not underestimate the force of this place with one of their own (however temporary or permanent).
Holly Hepburn has a knack for creating fabulous settings and the island of Ennisfarne was no exception. After I’d read it, I felt as if I knew the beach, the cove and the rock formations quite well. To be honest, just the lovely village shop with its fab deli would sell it to me as a perfect get away from it all holiday destination.
As well as the main protagonists of Eve and Logan, there are some great minor characters such as Freda who runs The Nook, the village shop, and knows everything that’s going on and George, one of the island’s fisherman who you wouldn’t want to get too close to!
Eve and Logan get off to a bad start when her dog knocks him flying on the beach and he breaks an expensive camera. Not that she knows he’s called Logan as he’s booked in under a false name. This is the first part of a four part series so in this book we are really getting to know the characters. The dynamic between Logan and Eve us fun to read about as they really rub each other up the wrong way and misunderstand each other. However, when what Logan is running from explodes into the public domain, he realises that he very much needs the support of this small island community. And he gets it.
With a truce and blossoming friendship developing between Eve and Logan, I look forward to finding out what happens next in part two of the series, Hidden Depths, when it comes out in July.
This was in the mini library at one of the hotels I stayed at (most probably left by another guest on a previous stay) and what a lucky find! An enjoyable read, I loved how Hepburn describes the setting and I could feel the tension between Eve and Logan. I did feel it was a bit repetitive, especially in the beginning pages of each part. And I feel it didn’t need to be as long as it was. Nevertheless, still enjoyed the story.
Seems like an intriguing story is beginning in part one of this serialisation of Escape to Darling Cove. Set in Northumberland, a famous photographer lies low after a public break up. He gives a false name in the hope he won't be recognised by the locals of a quiet island. But he hadn't bargained for his famous ex doing a tell all.
Hepburn does it again. Another story with great characters and a really good plot line. There are usually four books to the series so she writes short but to the point chapters and draws you in every time.
I love to read Holly Hepburn books on the Kindle in the middle of the night when I can't sleep! Great location & characters as always. Holly's books always make me want to visit the beautiful UK destinations that they are set in.
I throughly enjoyed this book. Holly never disappoints. I’ve read most of her books and they are all fab. Well written, relatable characters. Looking forward to her next book.
