So who am I? Well, I'm the crazy girl with an imagination that never shuts up. I LOVE scary movies. My friends laugh at me when I scare myself watching them and tell me to stop watching them, but who doesn't love to get scared? I grew up in a small town nestled in the southern mountains of West Virginia where I spent days roaming around in the woods, climbing trees, and causing general mayhem. Nights I would stay up reading Nancy Drew by flashlight under the covers until my parents yelled at me to go to sleep.

Growing up in a small town, I learned a lot of values and morals, I also learned parents have spies everywhere and there's always someone to tell your mama on you. So when you get grounded, what is there left to do? Read! My Aunt Jo gave me my first real romance novel. It was a romance titled "Lord Margrave's Deception." I remember it fondly. But I also learned I had a deep and abiding love of mysteries and anything paranormal. As I grew up, I started to write just that and would entertain my friends with stories featuring them as main characters.

Now, I live Huntersville, NC where I entertain my family and watch the cats get teased by the birds and laugh myself silly when they swoop down and then dive back up just out of reach. The cats start yelling something fierce...lol.

I love books, I love writing books, and I love entertaining people with my silly stories.

Wow Apryl Baker. Just wow. At the beginning of the book I was furious, thinking that you had gone to far. But as the story led on I realized it was for a purpose. I could not put this book down! I was up until 2:32 a.m. because I could not stop reading it! The ghost files and crane diaries series are some of my favorite!

What a great book! I love this series so much. These characters are so great and loving. The characters are diverse and encompass so many supernatural beings. Emma Rose Crane/Mattie Louise Hathaway is lost for most of this book. She ran away from home to find herself and get her head straight. In this book, she learns more about herself and learns to forgive herself. I loved the ending the best because I feel I have been waiting for it throughout several books. I think Apryl Baker has left plenty of room for more books. I hope to see more if she is willing to continue with these characters and this world. I have my fingers crossed more books will be released in the future!

This was a little disappointing. I felt like it didn't have nearly as much action as I was hoping for. And I didn't really care that it brought in current day events. I read this hoping to escape from what is going on now, and it just brought it back anyway.
I liked it well enough, but if she does write another one that had politics in it, I may not be getting it.

(Reflections Crane Diaries 8)

First of all I would like to THANK as well as congratulate Apryl Baker for such a wonderful job. I can’t say enough how much I love this series for so many reasons.
It was long coming so much was happening so fast how much could someone take, and the camels back broke when she had to take Mrs. B life to save Dan, in some way to save Mrs. B too. She had too much of everything and did what she always do best run (not that I was happy about it) but it was necessary for this stage. Acceptance she need to accept and reflect on everything ( Personally I just wanted her to see what ever she did from the beginning was great she stopped
1. Mrs. Olson - serial killer
2. Mr. Jonas - soul eater
3. Manson and Paul - AGAIN Serial Killers
4. Fallen Angel - babies soul sucking pice of S**t
5. Matilde - Soul feeder and many more.
The point is she saved so many people and did so much good. She didn’t see it like that she only sees the casualty that occurred during saving many others. The greater good was always (unseen by her) finally in this book these turns of events that take place here help her see that the glass is not half empty but it’s half full. Apryl did justice with her character. We also get wittiness more closely how hard her growing up was and why she is reacting the way she is like running away.

I am always worried that it will be ruined soon which usually happens with every series I watch or read they get too much after some time for some reason the the plot is just lost and chain is broken completely. I am so glad that’s not the case here (Ghost Files / Crane Diaries/ The Reaper ) are very well written.

Lovable characters, everyone is special even the bad ones she really do right by every character, hack even peaches! have her personality explained so well I feel like I can see her. I always say this and have to say it again because it’s still consistent, continuity and balance of the storyline as well the characters development from book one to this book is very natural nothing forced or unrealistic. We get so see Mattie / Emma’s character grow and mature with everyone else.
Mystery, Danger, secrets, fear, acceptance, discoveries and friendships. There’s so much more no time to blink or you’ll miss something amazing.
FAMILY. It’s started with only her but she came a long way made a family of her choosing actually they chose each other. Everyone is special in their own way.
I can keep going on and on.

I am so glad things turned better, Dark but better.

Beginning
I’m pissed off.
Are you freaking kidding me!? A ‘Dear Dan’ letter!
(I think one of the hardest and most annoying things to deal with in all these books are all the different names. Most of the different names are the main characters, but side characters have multiple names and nicknames too. It can get difficult to follow.)
20%
Mad Mad Mad
Chapter 7
Pissed off
50% wants to not even read it
50% - I must know!
100% believes Mattie has earned the crown for biggest drama queen...
Mad!
So frustratingly mad!
Biting my tongue so much.
(This is when I need an actual book to read and not my kindle, because I need something to throw! You know the kind of throw I mean too. Where you really put your frustration into it and then moments later you think you damaged it, so you run to check and part of you wishes it was destroyed even while you sigh in relief that it’s ok!)
Ok. How can she be in the cold white place and have no emotions, yet she finds herself attracted to someone else. Contemplating trying something with someone else -who is not Dan!
And this is why I have never felt them as soulmates. They just don’t work for me.
This left me finding my inner demon voice!
Am a little amused by the mentioning of Covid.
Somewhere in here I realize I do not like Mattie/Emma character anymore. But this especially grips me now. It feels like this is the start of a new series. We have all new side characters. Friends. Love interests. Side stories starting. And I am just pissed because I would rather stay in the story with all the side characters and just have a whole new character for Mattie!
I am just so upset at her choice to run again. I don’t care that’s how she handles these things every time. This is too far!
Right when she gets away from Kristoff. Who should not have been able to overtake her even more completely than a Primordial Evil or a Fallen Angel. Not in the end, when he just becomes a Hellhounds chew toy!!
And it makes me mad at Dan. When is he going to stop being a doormat? Everything that happens, he just forgives her, says it’s not her fault. I get so sick of “I’m in it for the long haul.”
Screw that.
Maybe if he called her on her crap attitude and reckless behavior then she would grow up, nay! Wise up!
At one point Dan thinks to himself he’s not sure how much longer he can deal with it. And I immediately think, ‘Don’t deal with it. Let that bitch go!” LOL
I’m so mad.
I used to love her character. Especially in Ghost Files. She was the perfect amount of 'kick ass sass take charge get it done'. And she was growing too. It made sense for her to be tough and hard on others. But this is years later. Dan has died or came drastically close to death how many times? And she’s still doubting that she is good enough for him. At this point she’s not.
One minute she knows how lucky she is and next minute she’s questioning her place.
Little Confused?
Was she really just sick from a regular cold? That seems out of place…
CHAPTER 20
The last page of chapter 19, when I swiped and saw 20 at the top my hand slapped over my eyes, and I told myself I can’t. I can’t read this. I took a little break, and then picked up my kindle, but I kept thinking, maybe I shouldn’t read this…
***EMOTIONAL DAMAGE***
OMG, I knew I was going to hate this chapter.
Warning!!! Chapters 20-23 tissues are required. Also, water because dehydration is a strong possibility!
Crying... lots of crying.
The end of CHAPTER 22
WTF!!??
FREAK OUT!!!
Very disturbing.
Really caught off guard when she stabs to death her inner child… Just like her ‘mom’ did to her. I know it says; “It’s not hard to slit the throats of the reaper, the goddess, the demon, and the human.” But I didn’t realize she was really doing that. So when she “…brings the the knife down over and over.” My mind blows and my thoughts stutter and I re-read it because that can’t be right… wtf?!
Chapter 23
A small part of me thinks the book – Nay, the series should end here. Done. No more.
5 seconds later
I am fully entrenched in this chapter.
(Aww… I love Silas.)
Chapter 24
is a little wonky.
I am not religious, so this makes me a little ill at ease.
But the reader in me thinks this should be more impactful, considering the implication of who the Conductor is…
(Impactful to Mattie I mean.)
86% in and I am questioning myself and how I am going to form coherent thoughts.
Chapter 27
I have not read any of the Reaper books yet. I was trying so hard not to start another series that I have no idea how long will last or how long the next book will take. But this talks about Eli and Ella and how Mattie has already had to save her twice. As someone that hasn’t read them yet, it does make me want to (which I am sure is a goal) but it’s also a little confusing because it’s never been mentioned before in this series.
The last few chapters:
The baby part seems super random. But also makes me wonder if she will be a side story for future books or her own series?
Not surprised at their elopement. I actually like that they do this. But I wish Mattie had more faith. You would think after killing all her selves and dying then making the choice to come back that she would be more settled in that choice. Yet every few pages she still questions. Plus, if they decide to marry and move forward, then they shouldn’t still be wondering if choosing each other is ok or not.
I think I will miss the newer characters a little. I really don’t think they should uproot and move though. So many have already moved to be close to them. And she’s just returning after being gone so long. If they moved now, it makes it seem like her dad and the rest aren’t really that important.
I took the time to re-read the 7 books before this one. To refresh everything and make sure I was prepared to live this world. But it wasn’t enough.
This book completely wrecked me. I was so not prepared for the emotions that rocked me.
Left Over Questions:
1. How long was her mom Clare (whom I am still mad that she forgives and feels closer to than Rhea) around? I mean, the end of Bayou Reckoning made it seem like only Mattie had the power to send her back or keep her...
2. Is Aleesha still helping the Foundation? Has it been continuing in Matties absence, or has it gone to the wayside? Seemed like Zeke wasn’t in the best shape.
3. Did Nancy (who doesn’t really seem like part of the story anymore) ever come to terms with their supernatural side?
4. What about the mate bond between Aleesha and Zeke? I mean, shouldn’t that be more important? We are supposed to want soulmates together. Like we want for Ava and Jason.
5. How is Cass? 6 months ago, he finds out Zekes his dad and Mattie’s his sis. But it fell by the wayside like it wasn’t important. She didn’t keep her promise to be there for him.
6. Will Evan and Zarra be side characters in future books? Or will they have their own series?
7. Mattie has healed Dan so many times. And she healed Alex. It’s annoying that she hasn’t healed Mary. Mary deserves it. Yes, she’s come a super long way. But she should be healed too. The excuses don’t seem solid. If Mattie can lend some of her soul to Alex, then Mary shouldn’t be waiting still. Heck, Rhea wants in Matties good graces so bad, why can’t she do it? She’s also helped others.
8. With Conners vision, that he thinks is intended for his group. Will that mean more books in the Bloodlines series? or will this be a part of the Wolfpack University series (that I am so IN LOVE with and can’t wait for more too)?

Mattie/Emma has been put through the wringer. She has gotten to a point in her very complicated life of where she has had to step away from those she loves. This is not an easy choice for anyone to make, let alone someone who is a combination of a human, living reaper, demon, and goddess. She leaves those who are familiar to her and ends up in a different town with a new life as echoes of her old life still haunt her. I think I said the last book in the series was the best so far, but this one was even better. Ms. Baker forces Mattie/Emma to go on a journey of self-discovery. She faces major crossroads in this installment - for example, the possibility to achieve ultimate power with the Eternity Jewels, walking completely away from her life with Dan, or permanently becoming a different version of herself. How will she fare in the end?

wow!

I loved this series and this book 8 in this series is just as entertaining as each book before. I love each character and the storyline is fun and draws you in to see what is going to happen next. I did find a few grammatical or minor mistakes, but nothing takes away from the exciting story. I’m so hoping there are more stories in the future for Emma and Dan and all their family and friends. Apryl Baker is a wonderful writer with a great imagination and I love reading all of her stories. Apryl is a natural storyteller who with each word she writes you just know you’re going to want to know what happens next! Thank you Apryl!

Apryl baker did us dirty! At the end of last book it was “let’s get married in two weeks” and at the beginning of this book it’s “ima just up and run away from Dan away from my dad and everyone else that I love!” I love Mattie but not sure how I feel about Rachel. Don’t get me wrong it was a good book but it was a huge shock when I read that she took off! And Evan don’t know how I feel about him either. But Dan is still as amazing as ever and I look forward to Mattie’s or Emma’s journey in the next book!

This series is truly amazing. I love the world that Apryl has made for us. I can't wait to see what is going to happen in each book And April doesn't disappoint. Who is Emma Rose? Who is Mattie Hathaway are they truly one in the same? This is another amazing installment in the series. I think my favorite part is reading about all the characters and seeing where they are now from where they began. And I love that new people are added as well. Another fabulous book.

Definitely different but fits the series

After everything she faced at the hands and powers of Kristoff, it was logical that Emma/Mattie felt the need to put space between herself and her family. But she can't run from who she really is

When a lift case and a killer overlap, she can't help but get involved. I'm very intrigued to see where this goes next.

And the very last few sentences were probably the best and made breathing hurt coz how strong my reaction.

The best series of stories I've ever read.

I completely love these books. This one makes it complete. I'm sure Apryl has more idea's in her head, but for now a happy ending. Until the next drama comes along. You have to read these books. I guarantee once you read the first book you will be hooked.

This was PERFECTION! I loved getting to see Mattie's life on her own and how even when she wasn't trying, she was still so much of herself. I really loved the path she had to take and how things wrapped up. I am so in love with these characters and this was exactly what I needed from the story!

I love these novels

I am going to miss not being able to read about her and Dans big wedding and the baby witch as well as the big Evil coming. What am I going to do without Mattie and officer Dan. This storyline as far as I'm concerned can go on forever!

Is it just me or has the author’s writing gotten more preachy?
I don’t mind her sticking her religious convictions in subtly, but she’s all but shoving them down our throats now.
And now in this book she’s trying to preach that we need to hero worship cops?!
