This has been the longest book in this series so far, and although it can technically be read as a standalone, in that the main characters have been different in each book, the overarching plot has definitely reached the point where you would lose a fair bit by not reading them in order. But this is the first time where I felt like I was reading an epic fantasy as all the different pieces have started falling together. Each time I read one of these, I feel like, "Okay, this is my favorite couple/triad so far, and this book is no exception. I absolutely love Dani, Tyrek, and Ash and seeing how their relationship unfolded while playing their part in the Rindek plot was awesome. If you like slow-burn romances with plenty of action, this is the book and series for you. But do yourself a favor and start from the beginning. Each of the romances in these books is standalone, but the overall plot of the archvillain really needs to be read in the right order. I can't wait to read the last book in this series!

Who is Dani? Where is she? What is going on? What possibly suicidal thing does she do? Wow, this book got intense! Things happened with Tyrez that were unexpected! The consequences of those actions could have been worse! What is going on with Ash? Who are Orena, Demeti, and Finn? What do we learn about them? What happens when Rindek launches his latest attack? What realm is it in? What happens? My heart feels like it is beating in my throat and trying to escape my chest! Read and see what happened that made this feel like the case!!

Warrior Hearts is such a great series, and ASH is no exception! Such fascinating and strong, sometimes stubborn, characters in Dani, Ash and Tyrez. The descriptions of, well everything, makes you feel a part of the story and that is what makes an outstanding novel! I'm truly looking forward to STEEL.

In this book, we find out all about Dani, a human woman who had lived on the streets and who had been recruited by Rindek to become a Dire Alpha female. Once she became one, she had the power to move things with her mind, thus a Mover. In the last book, her pack and pack Alpha were killed in the fight with the Sabres, dragons and Alex and the Twins- Emily and Sarah, who also became Dires. Dani is on the run and the only person she felt akin to was Ash, the Oracle dragon slave of Rindek. Although his full name is Firashe. He was the only person who was nice to her. Rindek is the last Archmage of his race, as dragons have hunted his kind, because they destroy everything. The dragons are the protectors of most realms. Rindek and his kind hate dragons. Tyrez saves Dani when Rindek and some Dires come for Dani. She is drawn to him and to Ash. I liked that we got to see the mated pairs and triads from the previous books in the series. I also enjoyed learning more about the Realms and the dragons. So many reveals in this book about all the different races of supernaturals. A lot happens in the book and you realize that Dani is a linchpin in the futures that we root for with Ash. Only she can put them on the path that less supernaturals die on. That’s not to say there isn’t a lot of death in this book. I cried a few times in it. I found that Ash and Tyrez and Dani are beautiful together and I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

This is a long but complete story of love in the face of war and anihilation! It is worth 5 🌟 if you like epic tomes, but I lost focus after about 55% and had to force myself to finish every amazing moment. Sad, really. It was a great book!

Here are my notes about it:

The World:
==============
““Just the way the Satyr liked them. Bored middle-aged women were his specialty”
—Oh, really? Maybe I should rethink Satyrs sexiness…..

What an interesting mix. Normally I don’t like telepathic fated mates. It is hard to distinguish where your feelings end and to control your own thoughts and actions. However, here the hunted, Dani, had been genetically or chemically changed into a Dire (wolf?) and lost her enforced husband/mate. The other species, Sabres, were stalkers and planners and fit well with the Dire’s direct stalking of prey. but both species were hired for enforcement, policing, tracking, bounty hunting.

The dragon shifters were a top gang on one side, and the Mages were a top opponent on the other side. Unfortunately for the mage in question, they were decimated for their tendency to become insane megalomaniacs. The one who survived, Archmage Rindek, and his family, all seemed arrogant, petty pet-manglers.

These species were supposed to avoid detection by humans, and I think they were immigrants from another dimension. They had an interesting ability to use their scales as modified clothing when in human form, and to form hard sword-like weapons. They also have a different reproductive cycle. They are not simply men with scales and wings.

All of these beings were governed by a Cryptid Council, and the terminology was perfect: Cryptid, Humanoid, Beastoid, etc. I have been wondering what to call a transexual, since “they” also applies to a plural, or group, and the term is confusing. Perhaps the author could apply their mind to this conundrum?

The story:
=================
Complicated and dark. There were two cryptoids ? To pull your heartstrings;
Ash, who was enslaved by the archmage and tortured by the entire Torvid family. Every minute I read his travails I wanted Tyrez’s crew to rescue him. And Tyrez’s fascination and almost-insta-love for a soul he had never met melted my heart.
Dani, the poor misled human who was forced into slavery by a false bond and subsequently returned to living homeless, but this time as a fugitive. OMG, I just wanted her to find affection and safety, too!

The story tugged my heart ❤️. I would normally sympathize with the last mage family; entire species have been hunted out of existence by mankind, and Rindek’s family is fighting back out of vengeance and desperation. Unfortunately, his methods are despicable! He develops the equivalent of ebola for dragons, using Ash as a test subject.

The dragonkind have become complacent and ignore the coming dangers, and Tyrez’s discoveries are ignored. 50% of the way through I feel like I cannot read any more; it reflects our life too much. And if Ash has gooey internal organs, I don’t want him to survive!
`
* Does NOT end in a cliffhanger.
* I googled her other novels and was suprised that this one is possibly fourth in a series. I didn’t have any trouble getting into it, and treated it as a standalone.
* Ends with some serious 🌶🌶🌶🌶 but still leaves a couple of questions for another story arc.

The Romance (because it is all about the romance__ just kidding 😂
===================
• Love Triangle (I know, some of you hate that, but I differ!)
• Dragon Sex, or Sex at 30000 feet without a plane.🌶🌶🌶
Titillating. But different than what I expected. The romance centered around Tyrez, who had a dragoness about to go into heat, yet he was more attracted to Ash and/or Dani, making this a harem, not a reverse harem. You don’t find that nowadays.

The Species:
==================
I love it when an author actually considers what a supernatural is, and the ramifications on society, history, and technology. Let me expound upon this: "“The narrow head tilted to take a look at his pursuer, and the long tail twitched.
Tyrez had been involved in enough mating flights to interpret the body language. The tail twitch was an invitation.
Ash wanted to play. To be pursued. And the scent that drifted to Tyrez flushed him with heat. ”"

Oh, not just sexy. Dragons physically act and react differently than humans. I am 🌶 both mentally and physically (LOL).

The books in the Warrior Hearts series are stand-alone (meaning each relationship gets a conclusion to their story), but really the series does have an over-arching narrative that is really best if started in book 1 (Ice).
Every book in the Warrior Hearts series just keeps getting better! The author does a great job making you care about the supporting characters in each book where you're excited when they finally get their own story. I've been rooting for Ash and becoming more curious about Tyrez with the last couple books, so I was pretty pumped that this book was their book. I also really liked Dani, even though she really is basically a new character in the series who came in just at the tail-end of book 3. This book strayed from the previous pattern of MFM and is MMF, but it's still the slow-burn heartfelt romance that has come to define the Warrior Hearts series. And I mean, who doesn't love dragons?!?

The fourth book in this series, it really helps having read the previous books. Dani has been scarred by the treatment she received at the hands of the men in her life. The last thing she needs is to have feelings for anyone now. But she keeps having dreams that take her places she doesn’t want to go.

The world building continues in this book, winding the strands from previous stories into this one very nicely. At times it felt a bit slow, but it did pick up well especially towards the end. I like the fated mates theme, and particularly liked Dani, a strong female with her own powers and abilities. Tyrez has been an interesting character in previous books, so it’s great that he now has his own story told. There were a few unanswered questions still by the end so hopefully we’ll get some more answers in the next book.

Book 4 of the Warrior Hearts Series - This is a stand-alone book which provides a good starting spot to begin the series without having to start at book one

L. E. Horn has such a fantastic imagination and clarity of writing that make her characters come to life, makes any book of hers well worth reading!

In book 4, we see some characters from her previous books but, for the large part, there is a new cast of characters. These include a Phoenix, a Satyr, Griffons, and just to add tension there is an Archmage (super strong magic user).

This book has it all! Romance, torture, a major battle, and more. I couldn't put this book down, as the characters and plot were so compelling, I had to keep reading. What are you waiting for? Pick your copy up now!

This is the forth book and a fairly quick read there is a slow burn fated mates shifter romance. This book does have what might be trigger subjects to some readers for abuse, torture, rape and few other topics. Most of the subjects are not delved into very deeply but they are there in case the topics bother you.

This book does have both strong male and female characters but I had a hard time relating in this book it felt less connected to the rest of the series. I felt much more invested during the first few books it could just be me. Overall, not a bad read this one just isn’t quite for me. I intend to still read the next book to see if it turns around for me as I did enjoy the first few books.

Rich and epic, but covers some very emotive topics

I enjoyed reading this story, which was very rich and detailed. This was the first I read of this series, so I had a very steep learning curve. The world building is very complex and, as a newcomer, dramatically slowed the pace of this book for me. The characters were complex and rich, and it was very easy to fall in love with them. I did find Dani and Ash’s past experiences to be quite dark, which lent a very moody feel to the story. The final relationship resolution felt a bit forced, and I found it difficult to believe Dani’s response to the situation, especially given her earlier responses to similar situations.

Full disclosure: I was given an ARC of the book, however this review is my own honest opinion.

This book was long, and as an avid reader, that is saying a lot. I hate when books are too short that they don't make an impression, but I also hate when books lag on. This one was closer to the second possibility… bogging down a bit at times. I ultimately enjoyed the book..unique premise with unique shifters, but the main character's stubbornness after EveryThing was frustrating. If I had to do it again, I don't know if I would read this again.. but it was good enough that I'm willing to try with other books in the series.

Ash is one of my favourite characters in the series. He has been beaten his entire life, chained, tortured, battered and abused. But he still has hope - not a lot, but enough that he is able to search for and possibly find a solution to his captivity. As an oracle, his perception of the future is vast, but fine-tuning accuracies is not as easy. Tyrez and Dani, possibly his mates, have a fight facing them in their attempts to free both themselves and him when it seems like the entire worlds are against them.

Be wary: there are actions/events both present and past that may be triggers. Read the warnings.

Every bit as good as the previous books in this paranormal series, the depth of the characters is amazing. The length of the book may seem intimidating, but the story flows so well that it reads quickly. There is a lot of sexual tension and a certain amount of violence but it only makes for an exciting read.
Reading the books in order is recommended but I encourage everyone to give this series a chance.

Another outstanding book from Ellie. This is the fourth in the series and whilst all can be read as standalones they are better enjoyed if read in order.

This book is about Dani, who having been mistreated by men in her past is justifiably mistrustful of all things male. Having a dragon appear in the human world in front of of her is not a good introduction to the supernatural. Whilst Dani's initial reaction is to hide she is nevertheless a strong female character.

Fabulous action packed, slow burn romance exploring the relationship between Dani, Tyrez and Ash.

I never realized how these books were written in different perspectives of characters. As I continued to read through the book I kept thinking the timelines were bouncing between different books in this series and warriors Academy series, and I was getting a little jumbled in my head. But when I got to the end of the book and I read the title of the book again I realized that these were all going on simultaneously in the characters perspective. Well all I can say is I love these books they are great even with the intertwining a little bit of confusion on my part.

Ash, as well as Tyrez and Dani are amazing characters, so rich with backstories and intense feelings and emotions. The storyline is fast paced with plenty of drama, danger, steam, secrets, surprises, big decisions, and much more. Loved the entertaining situations and dialogue. Keeping my fingers crossed for the next book to complete a few questions that are still out there. Well done.

Was soooo excited for this one… the dragon finally got his story… it was a bit sad I definitely had some oh no moments but that’s what makes these book’s awesome I love that Ellie can make me feel all the feels… I want to be a dragon now lol… anyways it’s a must read I highly recommend reading the series in order though it just makes the experience so much more satisfying…

Oh my talk about intense. Dani is so confused and afraid to trust anyone and with her past you can understand it. Tyrez sacrifices so much but in the end he gains back so much more. Ash is a miracle so much pain and abuse but still is able to not only trust but to open himself up to both Tyrez and Dani. They become a strong and powerful triad. Their future looks bright and with Ash to guide they can hope.

This fourth book was superb! Just as with the previous three I found myself immersed into this world from the very start. Action packed, full of adventure this exciting and enthralling story centres around Ash, Dani and Tyrez. Each has had a hard beginning in life and each are trying to make the best of things it’s a fantastic dark story and a fantastic addition to this series!

Ash ,Tyres and Dani

Tyres gives Dani the dragon virus to save her life, but gets banished in the process. They both save Ash from Rendik the evil Archmage. Ash doesn't feel worthy of Tyres, but Dani assured him he is. But she belongs in their soul bond,too.

I love this series. I thought I was massively entrallrd with the Sabres, but Tyrez has wiggled in now. He was not what I expected from his previous mentions in the series and I was pleasantly surprised he has such depth. This installment seemed to follow a better current timeline instead of intersecting past and present characters timelines from the other installments so that made me happy as well. Very creative, more in depth backstory of the different breeds. I’m hoping the next installment isn’t far behind this one.

Even though ASH is stated to be a standalone book stated to be a jump-in-spot within the series Warrior Hearts. I found that reading the other books in order is much easier to obtain an understanding of what the series is about and how the characters which are dire wolf, sabre and dragon shifters are about and where they all fit into their story. The romance aspect of the story is based upon a happy ending which completes the bonding between a couple or trio. Any intimacy which is described is just between two people can be steamy and can be very descriptive so could disturb some readers. I found the plot of A Dire wolf who becomes entangled between two male dragons and I called out aloud to her to seek answers for how she is feeling. I liked on how I was unable to put the book down, while being visually informed by the thoughts, actions and scenery of the characters and where they go. Indeed full of twists and turns with heaps of action which can pull on your heartstrings at certain moments, memories and dreams that they go through to find where they fit into their budding romance and relationships.

Tyrez’s is a dragon trying to save the world. When these three colide thing change the course of their lives. Definitely a great read.

I love this series. We get to see some of our favorites back to lend a hand. Our favorite dragon from earlier books is one of or MCs. Along with a new dragon male and a female we got a glimpse of in Fire.

Our fmc is a Mover dire. She is suffering because of events that lead her here.

Dragon two is as broken as she is and an Oracle. As well as an imprisoned tool for our evil Archmage.

Tryez our dragon and Dani our dire must not only save Ash before he dies but save all the dragons and ever realm out there.

This book has serious triggers so be warned. Abuse… physical, mental, and sexual.
