Sisters by Heart

Rate this book
Nickey Knighton’s debut novel Sisters by Heart recounts the story of sorority sisters, Shondra and Cydne, ten years after graduating from their Historically Black College and University (HBCU) with the promise of sustaining their bond . . . at any cost. However, they could have never predicted what life had in store for them.

After years of marriage and two children, Shondra listens to the sound of her husband sneaking in from his affair. Cydne wants nothing more than to be a mother but has built a life with a partner who refuses to commit to marriage or parenthood. Leaning on their five sorority sisters for support, advice, and acceptance, no secret goes untold between these sisters by heart.

Does Shondra get her own revenge? Does Cydne find a man ready to settle down? Can the seven sisters withstand shocking truths, or will their sisterly bond finally fall apart?

A plausible dream

Despite my being jealous,I see this story as being plush, pretentious and superficial. What a fancy dream life!!!! Who really has a life like this. Of course we are reading for pleasure. I would have preferred some drama when the baby was born and during the one affair also more info played into each sora ( after all is 'Sisters by Heart'. The author did come close to my expectations at the very end (the baby's bio mother attending the wedding).

Wow!

This book is awesome! Filled with fine examples of ways to persevere, to follow your dreams, to refrain from giving up. There's a variety of love, mystery, painful situations, humor and so much more. A few scenes had me rooting for the characters or wishing ....well, I will say no more, other than excellent prose! Bravo! A must read and will there be a sequel? Thank You Nickey Knighton for this fine work of art.

I throughly enjoyed this book. We all know people in similar situations which made the characters relatable. She expertly described places, food, etc that made me feel like I was right there in the flesh!
