Rajiv Kejriwal's Mukhota is a collection of Hindi poetry. With eighty-nine poems, it captures varying facets of life and living. The majority of poems are simple and easy to understand for anyone familiar with the language, although some sophisticated phrases are thrown in here and there (or maybe it's just me, since my Hindi reading is rusty).
Because of the variety of themes, different poems may appeal to different readers according to their own thoughts and life experiences. My favorite ones were 'विचारों की आंधी' (Vichaaro ki aandhi/A tempest of thoughts): "मौत तो आसान है अभी कुछ ज़िन्दगी भी तो जीने दे" (Death is easy, let me live my life now), 'हिसाब' (Hisaab/Score), 'खुली कैद' (Khuli Kaid/Open Cage): "अपने ही डर से कैद हर कोई खुल के जीते कब हैं सलाखें हो ना हो कैद ज़िन्दगी में सब हैं" (Everyone is in a cage made of their own fears), and 'प्रतिबिंब' (Pratibimb/Reflection): The narrator explains how he stays away from his reflection and all confrontations to avoid looking deeper into his thoughts and getting lost.
Additionally, the book is illustrated with line drawings, like the poem titled 'मुखौटा'(Mukhota/Mask) is accompanied by the below image and the one titled 'छाँव' (Chhaav/Shade) has this one The simplicity lent a quiet beauty to the written content.
Anyone with a penchant for poetry with philosophical undertones should definitely give this one a try!
✨Beautiful flow of verses which touches diverse aspects of life. I liked the sensitivity, emotions and expression in each of the poems. Heart touching and thought provoking book.
✨Each verse has diverse meaning for readers and connects to inner feelings. Some of the poems I went through couple of times as I liked the way these have been narrated.
✨The poems are quite short, yet can deeply touch the readers and they will be bound to read some of the poems again.
✨The language used is quite rich. however it is not very difficult to understand. Each poem carries an in depth meaning which increases the beauty of the style and content.
✨I would strongly recommend for all the avid fans and Hindi poetry lovers to read this beautiful and mesmerising composition.
There is total 89 poems in this book. Very short only 1 to 2 pages each poem. Short one but really engaging. Themes are reality, sad, some real experiences, inspiring. Thirdly mehmaan, which inspires and give message of how to fightback with yourself.

Every poems have deep thoughts and meaning like this. I think through these poems you can express what you had experienced. Read and relate every word.

These poems are on Mehmaan, Hakk, Sapne, Saans, Saudaagar, Naqaab, Neelkanth, Yakeen, Mukaabla, Manthan, Dhaara. All poems are wonderful and well written among all Sapne is my favourite poem
The poems are quite short, but very important and learning. The lines which touch my heart is मुखौटा...
The language is very lucid and rich. Also the cover and tittle is very beautiful and perfect.
To begin with the cover of the book is very interesting and completely justifies the title. This book is a collection of poems based on different themes. All the topics are very relatable. The author did a great job when it comes to expressing the emotions and conveying the message to the readers. The poems explore multiple emotions that one could eaily relate to. Some of my favorite lines from "यकीन" are: "माना कठिन है, स्तिथि संगीन है पर तू कहाँ किसी से कम तेरी काबिलियत के कायल सब तुझ पर सम्पणू यकीन है " These lines are all about believing in ourselves. Whatever the situation is, we should always keep faith in ourselves. The book is short, the poems are heart touching. The writing style is beautiful. I really enjoyed reading it. My favourite poem was "Safar". Every poetry has something to learn, something to feel, something to heal.
The great command over the language makes you want to read more. However, there is no particular rhythm followed in the book.
If you are reading this, dont rush for pages, live the depth of this book. I recommend this book to all the Hindi poetry lovers out there!

For those who love Hindi poetry, this is a great book. The poetry included in this collection is a lot of it. The poetry are fun to read. The poetry beautifully captured the emotions it was expressing. The poems are all quite unpolished. Each poem was thoughtfully written in a traditional manner by the author. Despite being brief, the poetry structure, sentence patterns, and vocabulary employed are straightforward and understandable.
“Every day, a person steps out wearing a mask , afraid of his true self.”
That’s exactly what “मुखौटा” dives into the layers we wear, knowingly or unknowingly, in the name of survival, acceptance, and emotional protection. 💭💔
This book is a soulful collection of 89 beautifully penned Hindi poems touching upon universal themes like dreams, time, identity, emotions, and life’s silent struggles. The writing is simple yet profound , the kind that speaks directly to the heart. 💌
Some of my absolute favourites include: 🌿 Waqt – makes you reflect on moments lost and people who drift away... 🌅 Vo Shaam – a nostalgic wave of past memories vs present emptiness 💭 Soch & Gehraai – deep, philosophical, and soul-stirring
Each poem holds a special meaning, making you pause, think, and sometimes smile or cry or both at the same time. 🥹🖤
✨ The cover design is soft, dreamy and aligns so well with the emotional tone of the book. And the little illustrations inside? An absolute treat! 🌸
From the very first glance, the book’s cover draws you in. The soft pastel artwork of a person hiding their face with a mask, a lonely bench, and a blend of nature’s hues , it gives you a glimpse into what lies inside: solitude, honesty, and raw human emotions. 🎭🍂
Rajeev Kejriwal has done a brilliant job of pouring raw, heartfelt emotions into simple yet striking words. His honesty and boldness shine throughout and that’s what makes this book stand out. 🌟
If you’re someone who enjoys Hindi poetry, or just wants to start reading poetry that actually connects with your soul this is the book you need. 📚🔥
Highly recommended for every poetry lover out there! 💖 Grab a cup of tea, a quiet corner, and let this book wrap you in its warmth. ☕📖
When I picked up Mukhota, I honestly just wanted a light Hindi read. Didn’t think it would stay with me this much. But by the time I finished, a few poems had quietly found their place in my heartIt’s been so long since I read something in Hindi, and this one just reminded me how powerful simple words can be.
There are 89 poems in the book, and each one feels like a small piece of real life love, pain, hope, fear, the things we hide behind a smile… everything. Some poems are so short, yet they just hit you straight. A few lines kept echoing in my mind even after I finished reading.
What I genuinely liked is that nothing feels forced. The emotions are raw, real. The author has written about things we all feel but rarely say out loud. The language is rich but still easy to get you don’t have to be a poetry person to connect with it.
There were moments while reading when I just stopped and thought, “yes, I’ve felt this too.” It’s that real. It took me back to those school days when Hindi poems used to touch the heart in the simplest way no fancy words, just pure feelings.
Mukhota isn’t just a book of poems. Since Hindi is my mother tongue, I connected with it deeply. Some lines gave me answers I didn’t know I was looking for, and some revealed little rahasyas about life. It’s simple, real, and stays with you long after reading.
💝Poems that I treasure
Mukhota is a beautifully woven collection of poems that captures the raw, unfiltered emotions of everyday life. Through simple yet deeply evocative verses, the poet takes readers on a journey through human feelings, personalities, and the duality we all live with. The “mask” that hides our true selves, as the title so fittingly suggests.
Across its 90 poems, including the one gracing the back cover, Mukhota explores love, pain, longing, nostalgia, and the quiet moments of realization that define our existence. Each poem feels intimate and relatable, written in a language that speaks directly to the heart without the burden of complexity.
One of the book’s most striking features is its artwork as each page is adorned with unique illustrations that perfectly complement the mood of the poem it accompanies. The visuals don’t just decorate the text; they enhance it, creating an immersive experience that feels both artistic and emotional.
As someone who has also read the author’s earlier work, I can say Mukhota feels more personal and mature, a quiet reflection on human nature and the contradictions we carry. It’s a book that welcomes every reader, whether a devoted lover of Hindi literature or someone just beginning to explore it.
Mukhota is not merely a collection of poems; it’s a mirror that reflects the smiles we show, the tears we hide, and the truths we often ignore.

"मुखौटा" by Rajiv Kejriwal is not just a book of poetry; it's a tender conversation with your own heart. Written in simple, easy language, it offers a beautifully deep look at the human experience the kind of read that feels both comforting and eye-opening. The poems explore the masks we wear in life, often hiding our true selves because of stress, expectations, or fear. It gently pushes you to look at the difference between the person you are and the person you present to the world.
My absolute favorite pieces are बेवफाई and लापता, they capture the emotions so beautiful they are gonna live in my heart forever. . * 'Bewafai' highlights the pain of longing and disappointment in relationships, showing how sometimes, after a long wait, the very arrival of what we wanted feels too late. It’s a powerful exploration of missed timings and emotional fatigue. (Who's fault was ... it???) . * 'Laapta' speaks to the feeling of being lost the true self that has gone missing while trying to fit into society’s mold. It’s a sad, quiet reminder that we must find the part of us that disappeared. (I will get it .. but will it really be mine) . His poetry is a beautiful, deep read it’s both a mirror to your struggles and a gentle nudge toward finding hope and starting fresh. .
“Mukhota” is a touching Hindi poetry book by Rajeev Kejriwal that looks at the masks we wear in life and the emotions we hide underneath them. The collection contains 89 beautiful poems that touch on themes of identity, love, solitude and the quiet struggles we all face. Kejriwal speaks from the heart in plain yet profoundly simple ways. Every single poem feels like a reflection of some suppressed emotion or truth that we don’t want to deal with. In many pieces, like "Waqt," "Vo Shaam" and "Soch & Gehrai," the energy stays with you long after reading due to its deep moments of reflection or anguish, and in the same breath, such tenderness is rarely found. Mukhota, as a book; through story flow or soft pastel design; was created to not just be read, but to be experienced so you can wrap yourself in honesty, empathy, and warmth. Mukhota reminds us and invites us to remove the masks we put on and let the world experience our true selves. Mukhota is a collection of Hindi poetry written with deep emotion and thoughtfulness by Rajeev Kejriwal. In this book, Kejriwal explores how each of us has developed masks throughout our lives and what emotions we hide behind those masks. It is poetry that is simple, soulful and incredibly relatable; poetry that speaks to the heart.
They say that each and every single face is born with hundreds and thousands of masks to go with it and sometimes, wearing this mask becomes quite exhausting.
There comes a point of time in our lives when this pretending starts become extremely fatiguing and if we are doing this for long enough, we may begin to forget who we are beneath it.
The book, Mukhota by Rajeev Kejriwal is a collection of more than eighty plus poems that showcase the different roles that we as individuals adopt every single day.
As can be seen, we may impersonate or be someone that we are not, either knowingly or unknowingly, and there are many reasons behind it such as wanting to be better, the peer or societal pressure, need to prove something.
Of all the poems, the one which I liked the most would be Yakeen. There are times when our fight is not with outwardly sources, but it is with our own selves and during such times, the poem motivates us to keep faith in our ability.
This was a nice collection with a lot of meaning and insightful teachings, hence I am going to give this book FIVE STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
