I was hooked right from the very first action packed chapter and I couldn’t set the book down! The character development is intriguing, especially in regards to the protagonist, Avalina. The reader is constantly pulled back and forth between wanting to be sympathetic to the fifteen-year-old girl and then being stunned by the selfish, manipulative, apathetic nature of Avalina as she embraces darkness and descends further into it. However, just as the reader is prepared to morally condemn and chastise her, we see fleeting moments of remorse from Avalina and hope that she can escape the prison she created for herself. We are constantly reminded of her short life and shallow, immature outlook on it because she was cruelly deprived of the opportunities to fully experience life and all the triumphs, complexities, and raptures it brings. There is an interesting dichotomy between innocence and malice within the novel and title character. I believe that the complexity of her character and the opportunities presented before the readers to question our own feelings about her actions and reactions make this an enjoyable story.

"Avalina," by far is my finest work! This is a mystical thriller with a little horror mixed in. At first, the young female protagonist will pull on your heartstrings; making you feel sorry for her; but then, things turn very deadly, indeed. Avalina, goes through several changes and several bodies to seek out her vengeance on all that did her wrong, over fifty years ago. Warning, this story may keep you up at night, longer than you'd expect; probably because you won't be able to put it down. I really enjoyed working on this novel; even though I spent over a year on it. I hope everyone enjoys "Avalina," as much as I did creating it.
