Sometimes the law isn't enough to protect the vulnerable. Sometimes someone has to step in, no matter what the consequences. Sometimes doing what's right isn't always legal. Sometimes it's dark and dirty and dangerous. Men like that need somewhere to call home, and what better place than an exclusive nightclub where the money and drinks flow freely. Most of the patrons are there to satisfy their urge to drink and be seen. Others are there to keep an eye out for those who need help. Welcome to the brotherhood. Welcome to The Shadows.
Knox When she came in to buy a gun, I knew she was in trouble. This isn't my first rodeo. What I didn't expect was to have my Daddy senses go into high gear.
Addie My life was going well until I got the call that my past was coming to haunt me. Although I don't want it, I may have to accept help from a man who calls to my Little side. He's dark and dangerous and he would never understand my needs. But he says he will protect me and I can use all the help I can get.

Kate Oliver has aspired to be an author all her life. From the time she was known as "that girl who always has her nose stuck in a book", Kate Oliver has wanted to be a writer. Currently, fetish romance is her favorite for both reading and writing. Kate has been a part of the fetish community for many years, and strives to write stories that realistically reflect that lifestyle. Her favorite part of writing her own books is dreaming up the hot and steamy, yet loving and strict, Daddies that Littles dream about.

So the Story was actually beautiful and really sweet. I really loved the Concept.
The execution and writing however really was bad!! I’m so gutted as this could have been great!
The person, yet trying to be different perspectives felt silly, often whole pages felt pointless.
Also I always feel that whenever writing about DD/lg writers always need to be really careful and the characters should always be considerate - it’s such a Fine line. But at times it almost felt like it was a farce.
This story is absolutely amazing. Knox and Addie are phenomenal together. I love them together. Oh and please give me the rest of Knox's brothers. Their journey together is off the charts. The writing and flow of this book is top notch. I beyond recommend this book. I can't wait for more.
I actually really enjoyed this book overall and do plan to continue on with the next in the series. BUT......
*spoiler alert*
I had to take a star away at the end there for that sickening reconciliation with the mother to wrap up the book. If it had just been all the negativity and bullying, I could have understood how that relationship could realistically be mended with honest effort. However, to gloss over the fact that she vocally supported and wrote to her ex in prison for trying to kill her and THEN gave him info on where to find her once released. My first thought during reading that encounter was, "ok so the mother needs a restraining order." But no, that's just...never brought up again and they both go to sit at a table with her for Sunday dinner??
3.4 stars. This was really sweet, honestly. The writing style wasn’t my absolute favorite, there was quite a bit of repetitive thoughts and dialogue. Like the characters were going in circles sometimes. The relationship was really sweet, the DD/lg aspect was actually handled pretty well here. I mean, Knox was a bit presumptuous, especially at the beginning when he was basically just guessing about her ‘Little’ side, but I did really enjoy the consent that he made sure to get when they finally got together.
The plot was pretty simple, it had little hints of danger and stress, but it was mostly calm until the very end. The sex was hot, again, not my favorite, but the dirty talk really hit. Plus the side characters were all really sweet and I loved the little bit of ‘found family’ feel that they brought to the book.
I think I might even have liked it enough to read the next book. Very surprising for me honestly. I mostly only enjoy Laylah Roberts’ DD/lg books. 🤷🏻♀️
The writing in this book is not great. Everything seems a bit scattered and disorganized.
What this book really needs is a trigger warning for domestic violence. That my trigger and I’m dropping the book. The only trigger warning is that this is a DDlg book. Not a word about graphic recounting of physical and emotional abuse.
Insta-love DD/lg relationship where the FMC has trauma from a past DD and the new DD works to overcome her trust issues and body dysmorphia. Addie's mom constantly monitored and judged her eating growing up (and when she's an adult, let's be honest) and it subsequently made Addie develop a terrible relationship with food. Knox is constantly trying to get her to feel comfortable in her own skin. I think his POV and words to her about this were sweet and necessary but my god this was such a huge plot point. It felt like every other chapter was about her eating issues/body dysmorphia. The spice and dirty talk was good though. This is definitely a book where the writing leaves something to be desired but it's good when you need something easy and spicy.
Whew! Is it hot in here? This book is what I like to call sweet with heat. It captured my attention from word one and didn’t let go even after the last word! I can’t wait to finish devouring every last book available in the series. I will also be getting them in Paperback form as I’ll probably end up wearing them out all too quickly. 😁
This was written extremely well. -JP H who owns. Gun shop so he’s deliciously tattooed and big -h whose got an abusive ex -DDlg without any baby stuff HEA Great side characters Spankings Secret vigilante type H
On a new trope, dd/ll. some books work for me some don’t. This one was okay. Sometimes I find that they aren’t really believable, I don’t know if it’s just me 🤷♀️
DDLG relationship. This is my first book of this kind.
Caught me by surprise that it's in third person XD but I enjoyed it.
There's like...alot of brothers in this book at one point I couldn't differentiate who was who. 😂😂
Nonetheless, this story follows Addie our FMC who struggles with body images issues and trauma from a past relationship. During said previous relationship her Little side was taken advantage of by her ex. The book follows Addie worrying about her ex getting out of jail and coming to kill her. In her pursuit to keep herself safe, he meets and falls for the burly, muscular Daddy Dom that runs a gun shop.
It's cute. Adorable. I love the relationship between the brothers. ❤ The cursing of siblings and purposely teasing each other is relatable. I love the concept and the way the Little is explained. But, the writing needed work. 😭🙏
Istg, the amount of times I've seen panties, wet panties, gushing, just the whole talk of sista girl being so aroused by Knox that she was just wet 25/8.
It does dabble fairly well into the DDLG relationship 🤔 and it was a good start!
Felt like the author was writing from a “how to write a daddy kink” book. Nothing felt natural to either one of them and their intimacy and my connection to them suffered because of it.
I got really frustrated with the h too. The whole beginning she’s going on and on about how she’s a little and wants a daddy and blah blah. Then shes super hesitant with the H and is constantly saying and thinking things like “I can do it myself”, “the femenist in me…”, etc. Why do we have this in a dd/lg book? Especially one where the h is not new to this lifestyle and kink. The h wants this, has always wanted, and already has a ton of experience with it (even if her last dude was an ass). It was really odd and felt like the author was just trying to use it as a way to make the h “bratty” and antagonistic but it did not work with her character. It was so inconsistent and every time she reacted this way I was so confused and got pulled out of the story.
I kept reading because I wanted to get to the damsel in distress moment but that was lame too. Overall just poor execution on this one and believe me I wasn’t expecting much but I was at least expecting it to be sexy and fun and it wasn’t.
I loved everything about this story. Knox and Addison are pure magic together and I loved watching their dynamic play out! I've read a few of Ms. Oliver's other books and enjoyed them but this had a lot of things that I love, it's well written, it flows good and the characters are easily likeable. Can't wait for the next book in this series!!!
This book was exactly what I needed! Blending my recent enjoyment of Mafia romances with my love of DD/lg romance.
Solid storyline with great world building and setting up there side characters for their future books....all done while giving us a great romance with just the right amount of "drama" and action.
I haven't read a DDLG in a while, but this brings me back to wanting to read more. I'm sitting on a good 3.5 for this one and want to pick up the rest of this series. A make-shift family that is full of Daddies? On to the second book!
this one was good! I absolutely love daddy kink but I'm not always a fan of Little play (ddlg) but I still enjoyed this one! Will definitely read more in this series!
Best Daddy book I’ve ever read! The storyline was interesting and the details were more realistic than most books. I liked the family in the story also, they were very strong and supportive.
Definitely worth the time to read this storyline! I will pass along to my friends! Keep up the good stories! Sensual and definitely sexy couples who want to be reading your books and definitely letting my group know to add to their list!
Well written and the characters are distinct and well developed. If you enjoy Little/Daddy romance novels this is the one for you. There was just enough suspense to keep the tension tight.
I loved Knox and Allies story. Knox really takes care of her. He’s a protective daddy and doesn’t care who knows it. Allie has some abuse issues but Knox helps her to overcome them.
My introduction to Kate Oliver books was perfect. Knox and Addie are so cute together. Perfect combination and gruff and protective meets sweet and sassy. And the family all mixed in was amazing.
I loved this book, an easy read that had me smiling and even laughing out loud at times. Sweet story perfect for a lazy afternoon read.... Will definitely be reading the other books x
This book had a great story and wonderful characters. There was comedy, drama and suspense that kept me totally engaged in the book. I am already on the 2nd in the series and my expectations are very high.
