Scandalous, it deals with assault as the butt of the joke. But I'll admit, Kyoutarou and Yoshiyuki are really funny and there are really hilarious moments; my favorite was the five billion yen scene. But, I had a hard time finishing this one, and it literally took me months. Some scenes are just really so hard to take in, especially the one with Leo on the lookout. Even though he thinks he's in love—if the victim thinks he's violated, he's violated. He's literally shaking from fear, he's traumatized for life!

Also, I won't say it's romance. It's more like the companionship of two shitty anal-freak men. So, I think it's less than 3 stars, but I found the two guys' friendship cute and funny. No, I can't do it. It's just 2.5

Gonna be honest, there isn't really anything "good" to say about this manga. The characters are assholes at best, tragic and/or depressing at worst. The story... well, there isn't really much of one. That said though, Harada's works are my guilty pleasure. I don't know what it is. No matter how terrible the characters or how crazy the story, I just have a good time reading them.

Revisiting this because I just felt like rereading something mindless and I want to read the third one. It's such a mess. These two are so dumb and ridiculous. It's just a fun, entertaining read. Absolutely adore Harada's art as usual.

*Original Review 3/7/2022*
Lmfao what a trip. They're both just a couple of idiots. This made me laugh because it's pretty ridiculous. There's not much really happening except them going through a couple of crazy situations. It doesn't really feel like a romance or anything, but maybe it'll get there idk. I'm just along for the ride.

It was all fun until the bully appeared :'( I know it's Harada, and I've enjoyed her most serious past work, but i can't put 'make light of rape' as part of dark humor.

there is an unfortunate element of assault from one of the side characters that’s treated as a joke - but aside from that, the heart of the story is the bickery companionship of two pervy unlikely friends out in the countryside, and that’s forever a bucket of laughs

Quanto mi hanno fatto ridere questi due! Bello, bello, bello!

This won't be for everyone but I enjoyed it. It was ridiculous, irreverent, and over the top, and you just can't take it too seriously. If you like the humor of a manga like Yarachin Bitch Club, you'll probably like this too.

One star for the main characters and one star for the drawings.

I kinda knew where I was getting myself into yet I hoped for at least some better story.

There are very funny moments in here but at the same time there are way many sentitive things that were left in the unknown and were treated in such a superficial way that the whole situation was so dang cringe sometimes.

While I laughed more than once there was the other part which could be described as the main story that very disrespectful and not funny at all.
I liked the two main protagonists and their chemistry together.
I found the setting different and it did overall work out. The drawings were really good and sometimes way too much detailed lol

What I wasn't a fan of was how all the rape topic was treated in such a light and even funny way.
Not cool at all, sometimes I don't get how some storylines pass the "quality control" and get the green light to get published, and even worse translated in many languages...

Considering I already own V2 I'll give the series one final chance for some redemption, otherwise I'll drop it.

This was so stupid with a lot of problematic elements. MAJOR SA trigger warnings the entire book.

There wasn’t really any plot or character development / growth. Very basic characters with nothing happening.

Would not recommend.

The two stars is because Harada’s art is always gorgeous.

But while this has its humour, I don’t think Leo’s delusion & constant raping of Kuzuya being treated like a joke was funny. This actually has some funny moments in it (and some cringey ones). You kinda expect fucked up stories from Harada, but trying to put a humorous spin on that dud not work for me at all.

a story about the absolute worst people you can think of and yeah their shitty life. its a story that if it weren't so ridiculous and pathetic it would be so depressing and miserable. you can't redeem any of the characters because they're all horrible, but as the story progresses i think you can understand them in a way. even for all the criticism of Harada-typical SA i do feel there is a certain nuance to it. someone else said it better than me but basically: the way the reader is presented the issue of male SA victims in the story is the way that the characters (and you could say society in a way) treat the issue, but at the same time even if it is used as a "ha-ha" trope we also see real consequences to it. like yeah the characters treat it as something unserious, and at first glance it's like the story *is* treating it that way too, but reading between the lines you realize it actually isn't. now i'm not saying i like Harada's writing At All (i will avoid all their works and i only read this one because i didn't know it was theirs) but there is something to be said about how this one is at the same time hilarious, in the same way you watch things out of morbid curiosity, a sense of schadenfreude, but also deeply uncomfortable. it is a dark comedy that for some reason just made me want to keep reading because watching these horrible people is, weirdly, entertaining.
(is this also the appeal of iasip?)
i wouldn't recommend it to just anyone but, idk, if you can sit with that discomfort, because that's exactly what the story forces you to do; it so unapologetic about how messed up it is and doesn't shy away from all the fucked up topics it deals with, i would say maybe give it a shot. could i call it a subversive work? i'm not sure because even if i think there is something weirdly interesting and worthwhile about it, i won't say it's "good" per say. it's just very complicated.

The series is being sold as *checks the obi* アホエロコメ (that is, stupid erotic comedy) and honestly that's the best way to describe this. Looks like France has a translated version... Europe is really ahead of physical translated versions when it comes to BL. English, what's up? 😅

Anyway, this manga is gorgeous for what it is. The cover design... I prefer matte dust covers over glossy ones, but this is really making me change my mind. It has that same feel as 愛は金なり: glossy with metallic gold highlights. It makes me think of jewellery boxes. The inside cover is an illustration of Kuzuya in the same metallic gold ink. Honestly it's so beautiful and Harada-sensei's art is as good as always and it's a story about two dick-obsessed guys who's goal in life is to be pegged by a beautiful woman. (Or get fucked by a beautiful new half.)

I mentioned before I prefer fixed seme/uke couples so this is really not my usual. Kuzuya and Kasuya are bi and can switch (but both prefer to bottom) and are really just here for that raw dick. It's hilarious how shitty these two are despite being incredibly good looking. Kasuya in particular started as an elite man of business who was dating the CEO's daughter until he got caught being pegged in the office and using the photocopiers to uh, immortalise his private parts.

Unexpectedly, Reo turned out to be my fave. I was scared he'll be some asshole in the Harada tradition, but he's kind of really cute in a scary way. Again, there is non-con galore here and there's a lot of off-colour humour. The 2nd-hand embarrassment I get from Kasuya during the first parts is also worthy of mention.

But if you like stories about hot trashy guys getting it on, I definitely recommend.

(Do I feel some shame reviewing this under my real name? Kind of. But like Kuzuya, I'm really not much of a human to take shame seriously.)

Just by the cover, I called it and I am happy to report that yes, Kasuya and Kazuya are truly the epitome of “I can’t fix him, but I can make him worse.”

Another wonderful Harada manga, with characters that are just, absolutely insane and unhinged in the best way. Not gonna lie, I’m not thrilled with the Kazuya-Leo sub plot and wish it wasn’t a thing, but I am eager to see how Harada wraps it up, especially considering how a similar relationship was handled in YataMomo.

The characters seem very light and humorous now, and honestly? If they stay that way, I wouldn’t be too upset. I laughed out loud multiple times while reading because of their personalities and shenanigans, but I also have so much faith that they will become fleshed out, well developed, and ultimately grow. And I am so excited to see how their relationship develops.

Once again, you have to be the right kind of person to read Harada manga, so I know it’s not for everyone, but I had an absolute blast. May increase rating depending on how the aforementioned side plot resolves.

4.69 Good stuff right here. It’s glorious, truly a bible and inspiration to all. Plus as someone who has a guro fetish, the dude introduced in volume 2 chapter 4 is my best friend, I’m so happy we didn’t fetish-shame him.

Happy Crappy Life is a queer comedy manga about an exiled socialite and his jobless neighbor exploring their shared hobby of anal sex. The art in this book is beautiful, with the lighting and gorgeous details making each panel and especially the character expressions pop. The framing does a great job heightening the comedy, which at times it hilarious. The premise is ridiculous and fun, and the characters, though morally awful, are enjoyable to follow. For these reasons, it's disappointing and frustrating that its treatment of sexual assault victims is so egregious that it turns an otherwise five-star read into an uncomfortable slog. There are multiple instances of rape in this story, which are shown carelessly and graphically without warning. The victim of these attacks is repeatedly made the butt of a joke for being assaulted, and no one takes the trauma seriously. While this does play into how awful the characters are supposed to be, the narrative attempting to laugh at something so horrific and violent completely ruins my enjoyment. There were also several sexist throwaway lines that did not have a place int his book. I feel gross for having read this, and while I adored the beginning, the disrespect towards sexual assault victims is unforgivable, and I can't in good conscience recommend this story.

I am quickly realizing this manga artist is one of those that epitamize duality. In their work I'm finding that there are two contradicting things that are happening in my reading experience at the same time. Here, there is a side plot involving one of the characters in a toxic/abusive relationship. It is sometimes used for humor or as a joke. It's complicated and I don't condone the author doing this. However, I also found the rest of this absolutely unhinged and hysterically funny. I busted a gut laughing throughout most of it. It made me boiling mad but also cackle like a lunatic at the same time.

Insane. Totally insane.

The eyecatching title, the insane premise. And then my buddy has read it and so I immediately wanted to read it too.

So passing on the warning that there is straight up rape that happens (and multiple times)  but the whole comic is so unserious that you can almost skip on past the implications of that. Almost. Your mileage may vary.

Otherwise, this comic was hilarious, sexy, and utterly insane. As in homie was trying to make turn a fan into a sex toy, they meet god (i think??), and a guy accidentally sleeps with an entire family.

Life sucks, do butt stuff
