Delicious: A Brother’s Best Friend Romantic Comedy

Rate this book
I've loved him for years, but never told him. One drunken kiss changed everything.

Allison Bradley has always known what she wanted.

At thirteen, I decided to be a nurse. That very same year, I fell in love with Ed Cooper. Sure, I was barely a teenager and he was one of my older brother’s buddies from boot camp. I didn’t care. I was in love or lust…or something. He consumed my every waking thought. Sadly, fifteen years later, I’m still infatuated and he sees me as a little sister.

Baker Ed Cooper has a problem.

When she was a teenager, Allison was a sweet nuisance. Now, I want to take a bite of her to see just how sweet. I’m beyond infatuated with her but she’s my best friend’s little sister. Definitely against the bro code. Every time she comes into our shop–which is just about every freaking day–I lust after her. If her brother knew, he would definitely kill me.

One drunken kiss changes everything.

The moment Allison’s mouth hits mine, I know there’s no going back. Just one taste of her turns me into an addict. Even though I know I’m not good enough for her, once I’ve had her in my bed, I know I’m not giving her up.

Warning: This story includes so much sweetness from the strawberry lemonade cupcakes to the sexy giant of a baker you might end up with cavities. There are meddling best friends, an older brother who needs to get his own life, and so much frosting used in inappropriate ways you’ll probably die of embarrassment. Or I will. Maybe not. Listen, just buy the book and get ready for sweet, hot, over the top kind of romance that will leave you craving for more than cupcakes. You’re welcome.

This was a cute little novella but woooooo the first two chapters were rough af. I think the author may have started writing this book in third person narrative and then changed to first person, then went back and tried to edit. Honestly, the first two chapters should be rewritten, they were that bad. There were verb tense issues, weird dialogue and sentences that didn’t make any sense. Luckily the chapters are short so I was able to push through and it improved greatly. The author has a distinctively quirky writing style and it makes you feel like you are really in the characters’ heads. The two POVs were vastly different and you always knew who’s head you were in. The chapter where Allison is drunk is particularly hilarious. This is a very short read so the romance goes from pining at a distance to jumping into bed to exchanging I love yous very suddenly (within hours). It’s not my favourite when things jump so quickly, as I like a medium burn, but since they've known each other for years, I went with it. I would recommend this book as a cute, cozy read, as it’s completely safe, low angst, funny and sweet with a bearded, baking, tatted, ginger, cinnamon roll hero. Just grit your teeth and push through the first two chapters.

I loved this feel good romantic comedy story. This book was romantic, sexy, witty, funny and made me smile the whole time reading it.

Allison has been infatuated with Ed since she was a teenager and her feelings have only strengthened with time. Ed has quietly lusted after Allison for two years. After a girls night out with friends in which she got drunk, Allison makes a play for Ed and they hook up. Her brother Harry calls Ed on his feelings and Ed admits to loving her. She responds in kind and within a week Ed is living with her. On their three month anniversary Ed proposes and they begin their HEA. Highly recommend! Look forward to reading many more books by this author.

After retiring from the army three best friends Harry, Ed and Fritz decide to open a bakery. Ever since they returned Ed has been attracted to Harry’s younger sister Allison, but he has kept his distance out of respect for his best friend.

Allison has had a crush on Ed since she was a teenager, but she believes that he will never see her as more than his best friend’s pesky little sister. When he brings her home after a few drinks too many with her besties a kiss changes everything but how will her brother feel?

I really enjoyed this book and look forward to Harry and Fritz’s stories.

Delicious was a cute rom-com style of read. It’s novella-length which I love. It was mostly quick-moving which helped keep my attention for sure.

Both mcs keep their feelings for each other hidden, as they believe the other doesn’t feel the same. They also worry that the brother will be mad / upset with both of them.

FMC bakes and MMC is super cute about loving her baking.

Once they admit and follow through on their feelings, it’s fabulous. I envied their comfort and affection with each other for sure.

A good read, plenty of love interest and girly talk. Some moments to make you smile, but was expecting it to be hilarious! Made me smile instead of laugh out loud.. Ed to me seems a little bit girly rather than matcho! But yeah okay i liked it, and would read further novels in the series.

I totally feel in LOVE with with book. Ed and Allison were just so stinkin' cute. Allison has been in love with Ed since she was 13 years. One drunken night with one heck of a kiss will change things. This book is a total must read.

Absolutely smashing! Delicious is a combination of sweet and spicy that makes it a delight for the brain.
Allison has had a crush on Ed Cooper since she was thirteen. She isn’t a kid anymore and Ed Cooper is back and hotter than the ovens he bakes his scrumptious creations in. Ed has been back from the Army and he and two buddies have put Ed’s skills in the kitchen to work in their bakery. He has noticed his friends little sister is all grown up but his wanting her breaks the bro-code. Fate has a way and when these two get together they are combustible. This story is told with wit and love and I relished each word.

Allison has loved Ed since she was a teenager and Ed’s been hot for Allison since he joined her brother and their best friend in their new business two years ago, but each thinks the other isn’t interested. That is until one drunken kiss changes everything. This is a delicious story with a charming HEA ending. It’s a quick, easy, fun read you won’t want to put down. Allison and Ed are delightful and are just so right for each other. In fact, all the characters are very appealing and make you want to read more about them. I can’t wait for “Luscious,” the next in the series!

5 star review Delicious (Camos and Cupcakes #1) by Melissa Schroeder

This is the first book in the series and is Allison Bradley and Ed Copper’s story and although not a particularly long read Melissa Schroeder packed a lot of fun and entertainment into Delicious. It is well written with characters who you cannot help but fall for.
Allison has been in love with Ed since she was 13 years old, the fact that he is best friends with her older brother Harry only complicates matters. However, 15 years later he still sees her as a little sister much to her frustration. Knowing that he would cross the line if he showed her his true feelings Ed does his best to hide them.
However all it takes is one kiss to chance the course of both their lives. I really enjoyed this friends to lovers story, the chemistry between Allison and Ed sizzled and the banter witty. The friendship that Allison has with her best friends Savannah and EJ was heartwarming.
This was a fun book that left me with a smile on my face. Oh and I have to say I really loved the sound of the strawberry lemonade cupcakes.

3 stars. Not bad, not amazing. The relationship progression was based on past feelings they had since these two have known each other for years. It went lightning speed and felt a little forced at times.

SWE
No virgins
Heroine is near 30 and has only had 2 partners and has never had good sex in her life. Her last relationship was only 1 year long and ended about 2 years prior. And she said that was her longest relationship.
Hero not a manwhore, he’s been celibate for 1 year, but he obviously had a lot more experience
They have known each other since before she was legal, and she’s had a crush on him for the entire time. She says she didn’t pine for him, but I call BS on that based on other stuff she said.
He has had feelings for her for the past two years, but says nothing and was only celibate for a year.
No OM/OW drama
No cheating

TW: mentions of parent with cancer in past, mentions of war and military life

Allison has had a crush on Ed for awhile and she never thought he felt the same for her. Then one night everything changed between them. Harry told Ed he was going to cancel a date because his sister and her friends were having a girls night and that meant he would be needed to drive them home. Ed offered to fill in for him so Ed was surprised when he actually got the call to go pick up the girls. When he arrives at the restaurant Allison is pleasantly drunk and very open with Ed her Ginger Jesus. Ed only has to take her home thankfully but is worried about leaving her alone so plans to stay. However some of what she has said to him makes him think if she feels for him like he does for her. So the next morning when Alison wakes she has no memory of bringing anyone home with her but hears someone in her home and texts her girls before she realizes its Ed. Walking out in a t-shirt she watches as he is baking breakfast for her when he sees what she is wearing it blows his mind. Allison loves that she is tempting him into giving in to her and pushes him until he does what they both want. Yet later when her brother shows up will he cause things to end between her and Ed before they had a chance to really start?

This is an amazing story that will have you laughing out loud at parts. The chemistry between them is off the charts hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

This is a cute one. I liked how both Ed and Allison take advantage of a little drunk truth. I was a bit worried towards the end when Harry showed up, thought there might be a fight, but Ed managed to calm Harry down in the best way possible.

When there’s a gorgeous ginger bearded man with tattoos holding a scrumptious looking cupcake on the cover of a book, it is my duty as a book blogger to read it. I have done my duty and now I am craving two things:

A strawberry lemonade cupcake
A ginger bearded ex-soldier turned baker

This was a really short sexy read that if you are a fan of the brother’s best friend trope and (seemingly) unrequited love with a dash of friends to lovers mixed in will be the book for you. I am not a particular fan of any of those tropes, however, this was still an enjoyable novella.

If you want something short and easy to read this is a good one to pick up this summer.

These two were sunshine and cupcakes? Absolutely loved this book. Everything about it. And 3 hot ex-military guys owning a cupcake bakery....yeah...sign me up. I have always been a Melissa Schroeder fan, but I think this is my favorite series of hers. So damn good. I just couldn’t get enough.

Ed is the hot ginger friend of her brothers that she had been crushing on since she was a teenager. I loved the reference that she had always crushed on the Weasley twins. Fast forward and he is running a cupcake bakery with his 2 besties....and she still has the biggest crush on him. Ok, this part got me and made me an Ed fan for life, he named a cupcake after her, yup I would’ve proposed to him right there...just sayin. Add in the fact that he always smells like a bakery...yup proposal, just like that. Clearly Ed has a crush on her too, so when she needs a ride from him, it all comes out the next morning. Once these two figure out they both have been crushing on each other since he came home, they do not waste any time, and I loved it.

This was a safe read, once they are together it’s a done deal. This book was hilarious, like laugh out loud funny. The fact that it was also sexy and hot af, just an added bonus. These two really were like sunshine and cupcakes, adored them so much. We get a little shower fun and frosting shenanigans *winks*. Loved all the secondary characters too. They all crack me up, especially her friends. We get an epilogue and an hea. Oh, and there are two more books in the series, did I mention that? Yeah, I totally meant too. Book crack series.

This story was over far sooner than I'd have liked. Not that it was too short, but more because I bulldozed through it!
Allison is a loveable character, who's crush happens to be her brother's best friend. I'm sure we've all had a secret crush at some point, and it's written so wonderfully. Ed is in the same boat as Allison, but neither of them realise. Once they do, there's no going back. Sparks fly and sexy times flow.
Btw, I'd love an Ed cupcake, they sound amazing!

Ok we have a total of six people. Three guys, three women.
Allison is Harrys younger sister. Ed a.k.a. Ginger Jesus is Harrys bestfriend and business partner. Savannah and E.J. are Allison's bestfriends. Then there is Fritz he is Harry and Eds bestfriend and business partner. They own a bakery. Yes three ex military men own a bakery no they are not gay. So Eds the baker, secretly in love with Allison, Harry takes care of the the books and business side. Fritz is the face of the business.
The story is in dual POV Ed vs. Allison.
The inner discussion is totally funy the characters literally talking to the reader. So interesting.
So the girls are friends the guys are friends.
Oh yeah and Allison has been in love with Ed since she was thirteen.
So one crazy night out with the girls and drunk off her ass Allison questions her feelings for Ed because she doesn't know about his feelings for her but the girls do.
Ed picks her up from the restaurant brings her home, some thoughts were said out loud a hot drunken kiss later and Ed is losing his resolve. He spends the night on top of the covers in his clothes.
The next morning Allison is trying to make heads or tales of how she got home only to hear clinking from her kitchen.
Ginger Jesus is baking in her kitchen.
So that starts their comical conversations. Then their hot sexcapades. Then he is about to tell her something when her brother breaks the mood by walking in on a tender moment. Oops.
But Allison is protecting Ed, Ed is protecting Allison then Fritz walks in?
So while Allison is getting dressed Ed tells Harry his feelings towards Allison but when he gets to the part of love, babies and marriage Allison walks in crying yup she heard.
So with the cat out of the bag Harry just has to handle his own angst.
A week later Ed moves in with Allison three months later their engaged. The story end with a HFN.
Can't wait for the story of Harry and EJ, and to see the relationship grow with Ed and Allison. I'm guessing these books will need to be read in order so read Delicious then Luscious.

Delicious, Camos and Cupcakes, Book 1 by Melissa Schroeder

Allison Bradley became a chemo nurse in San Antonio after her mother’s battle with breast cancer. She survived but it brought Allison and her brother Harry closer together.

Ed Cooper put his time in the Army and has come back home. He opened a bakery two years ago with his two best friends. Ed is considered one of the top bakers in San Antonio.

Allison has had a crush on Ed since she was thirteen years old. Now at nearly thirty it is way more like lust. Loving him from afar is what she normally does and gets hell from her friends to just do something about it. She would but he is her older brothers’ best friend. If her brother killed him then she wouldn’t be able to ogle him. Ed Cooper remembers Allison following him around as a pesky little girl. What he finds when he comes home is a woman and she is etched in his brain. Watching her lick the icing off a cupcake nearly every day in his shop will more than likely make his eyes permanently cross for the rest of his life. Especially when she follows it with one of those low moans of hers. The only thing that is keeping him from making his move on her is her brother. Although, wouldn’t she be worth the @ss beating?

Where has this author been all my life? Seriously! Melissa Schroeder had me snorting while reading. Snorting! Her writing reminds me of Pippa Grant with the snarky sense of humor that I adore. You can’t help but smile while you are reading and then laughing out loud. I loved Allison and Ed with their inner monologues about each other. Even the secondary characters who I believe will be getting their own books, or I am hoping with crossed fingers and toes. The nicknames that Allison and Ed for each other were adorable and funny.

Loved Allison and Ed
Allison Bradley has crushed on Ed Cooper since the day her brother brought him home after they completed basic for the Army. She was 13. At 28 her feeling have't changed.
Two year ago, her brother, Harry, Ed and their other best friend, Fritz, left the Army and opened a bakery, Camos and Cupcakes. Her brother keep the books, Fritz is the face of the business and Ed, Ed is the baker. His cup cakes are to die for. He even named her favorite, after her. Ed sees her as a kid sister. While she has dated, she can't let go of Ed. Her "Ginger Jesus".
Ed Bradley has always liked his best friends little sister. She is like sunshine, bright and happy. When they got out of the Army and opened their bakery, he noticed his sunshine had grown up. Now he can't stop thinking about her. She is his best friend little sister. Even if it didn't go against the "Bro Code" He just doesn't feel he is good enough for her.
Girls night out has Ed coming to Allison's aid. Afraid of leaving her alone. He spends the night When Allison finds him in her kitchen the next morning, she quickly realizes that Ed sees as more than a little sister and makes her move. Who is Ed to say no to his sunshine.
A fun, fast pace and steamy romance. Loved Ed and Allison. Her bestys, EJ and Savannah are everything you want in a best friends. Harry is a great big brother, even if he is on the OCD, and over protective side. Fritz and Savannah's brother Austin, are fun pretty boys, who are nice guys too. Can't wait for EJ and Harry's story and to learn what really happened on "The Date From Hell"
I had pre-orded this book and was lucky enough to receive an advanced copy and this is my honest review.

This is book one in the Camos and Cupcakes series and it features Ed and Allison. The base story for Camos and Cupcakes is fabulous! Three military guys leave the service and open a bakery...a very successful bakery! Each contributing something different. Ed is the master baker. How much more delicious can you get? A gorgeous ginger that is 6‘4“ and can bake! He is also deliciously talented in other rooms of the house other than the kitchen. Allison’s been in love/lust with him since she was a teen. Now that he’s out of the service and has been back in San Antonio for two years, he’s trying very hard not to act on the feelings he has for his best friend’s sister. These two are explosive together! They are good friends but discover they have been missing out on so much more for two years already.

I adore everything about this book. The story is fantastic! The characters are awesome and are people I’d love to be friends with. They are fun, funny, loyal and normal every-day people. This is a fun, sexy romance that leaves you feeling good with a smile on your face and I can’t wait for book two!

It’s Delightful. It’s Mouth Watering.
Delicious, Book One of the Camos and Cupcake Series was, in fact, delicious. The author, Melissa Schroeder, certainly showed us she knows her way around a storyline, character development, and making romcoms actually that. Light and witty and this is exactly what Delicious does. Chapter after chapter there is something that draws you in, engages, then leaves you with a smile, followed by repeating this for each chapter.
The main characters, Ginger Jesus and Sunshine (aka Ed and Allison) are perfect for each other although they haven’t acted upon it since forever. Thank god one of them got too drunk to drive and needed to call the other for a ride home and the person not only drove the person home but carried them into the house and put them to bed where there lives changed forever.
Definitely recommending this book for your reading enjoyment and pleasure. There is also a little tease on Book two, Luscious. Peace.
