The Bodies of Others is about how we came to the harrowing civilizational crossroads at which we find ourselves - engaged in a war against vast impersonal forces with limitless power over our lives and which threaten the freedoms we have always taken for granted. In her most provocative book yet, Dr. Naomi Wolf shows how these forces -- from Big Tech and Big Pharma to the CCP and our oligarchical elites -- seized upon two years of COVID-19 panic in sinister new ways, to not only undermine our Republic but to fundamentally reorient human relations. Their target is humanity itself. Their end goal is to ensure that our pre-March 2020 world is gone forever. Irretrievable. To be replaced with a world in which all human endeavor-all human joy, all human fellowship, all human advancement, all human culture, all human song, all human drama, all worship, all surprise, all flirtation, all celebration-is behind a digital paywall. A world in which we will all have to ask technology's permission to be human. But we, the people of the world, did not vote to abandon our old systems and destroy our old ways so absolutely they could never be recovered. And Wolf shows how, against overwhelming odds, we still might win.
Naomi Wolf is the author of seven books, including the New York Times bestsellers The Beauty Myth, The End of America and Give Me Liberty. She has toured the world speaking to audiences of all walks of life about gender equality, social justice, and, most recently, the defense of liberty in America and internationally. She is the cofounder of the Woodhull Institute for Ethical Leadership, which teaches ethics and empowerment to young women leaders, and is also a cofounder of the American Freedom Campaign, a grass roots democracy movement in the United States whose mission is the defense of the Constitution and the rule of law.
It is full of information and well documented but it reads like a. Novel. I could not put it down. I recommend it to anyone interested in knowing what is truly happening with the pandemic and the vaccinations.
A page turner, this is a stunning account of the evil the world has endured the past two years. Wolf's prose eloquently describes the chronology of mass indoctrination by our leaders to redistribute wealth from workers to the tech oligarchy. In the end she gives us hope that we need to resist evil if we want to protect our children's future.
Naomi Wolf is such a talented writer and logical thinker. This book expresses so much of what people need to think about and act upon.
I often have favorite sections from a book. These have been in my thoughts these past years as well, and so eloquently stated by Ms. Wolf.
"...what had really been accomplished was that now Americans, a formerly proud and independent people, had experienced the submission of their bodies to an intimate and permanent and possibly damaging intrusion that they did not choose. Americans, a formerly kind people, had been transfigured into accepting a culture of cruelty." p.80
"By now the eradication of Western cultural wealth was largely complete. By now it was generally accepted that people could fully police others' behavior, and other people's bodies. And that mean the end of the Western tradition of the sovereign individual with free will, who decides for him or herself, but also understands that his or her will cannot be imposed on others who are not directly harming him or her. It heads squarely into the collectivist assumption in which third parties' bodies are legitimately policed. " p. 285
"...there is a comparison to be made to the years long preceding those horrors, when within Germany the psychological ground was laid for what would follow. This is when many vicious new norms and policies were set in place, often culturally policed. It was a culture of casual, escalating cruelty, a culture of mounting degradation of "othered" an ever more rigid two-tier society, all of it by degrees transforming what had been a modern civil society into one capable of committing hitherto unimaginable evil, and evil that would be countenanced and even endorsed by doctors, medical associations, journalists, famous composers and filmmakers, universities, teachers, shopkeepers and neighbors. THIS is what we must recognize. Indeed, it was a short slide from creating a two-tier society to embracing eugenics to identifying "life unworthy of life" to using the language of "hygiene" and public safety to set up the first Nazi euthanasia programs." p. 289
This deliberate innocuous language, along with medical authority and bureaucratization concealed the true nature of what was a visible, nauseating, daily spreading evil. p. 89
I do not have the words to describe how good this book is. People do need to stand up against all forms of tyranny. It is surreal to me to think that the past two years happened. We must not let this happen again and all must fight what remains of this oppression.
Crises bring old foes together in ways they never saw coming. When Naomi Wolfe was advising Al Gore to wear brown suits and fight the Florida vote certification, I thought she was silly, partisan, and, if not a commie, at least a little pinko. More than 2 decades later, we are kindred spirits - I less strident and quick to judge, and she a more Godly and courageous voice against the gleeful tyranny we have witnessed the last two years.
This book is beautifully written, almost poetry at times. It is also heartbreaking as Naomi recalls how friends abandoned her, turning away from a lifetime of reason and healthy skepticism to embrace a cultish cruelty.
She puts to words the off-kilter feelings most of us have had since early 2020, the sense of dread and sadness that seemed deeper than grief. She reminds us of what we saw and what it meant.
Mass psychopathy is not just possible, it’s easy. And a world full of misery and wicked tyrants is just one cowardly excuse away.
We have lived through a 2 year nightmare event. It is time to wisely review our role in history, to answer the question "what did you do?" The more important question to answer is "what did you learn and what are you now prepared to do for humanity?"
The Bodies of Others is the account by noted author and feminist, Naomi Wolf, of her journey from being a liberal Democrat, accepting the “pandemic” narrative, to seeing and understanding that narrative’s attack on liberty and on our very humanity.
THE COVID YEARS FOR MS. WOLF
We live in a watershed moment in the history of humanity on earth. Our very lives and liberties are under attack as never seen in modern times. Yet most people are not aware of this attack, though the number who are is (arguably) growing. It is a realization difficult to accept, and that is why a book like The Bodies of Others is so important. It shows the lie of the government’s narrative and prompts the common man and woman to resistance.
The Bodies of Others is a survey of the Covid years 2019 through mid 2022 as Ms. Wolf experienced them. It is her story of initially accepting the narrative and wearing her mask, through being suspicious of lockdowns and “social distancing.” As she learned more through her contacts and interviews, she questioned the narrative as she became appalled at its naked attack on personal freedom from the world’s governments. She describes the irrational fear that swept through people around her even as she was being ostracized from the company of old liberal friends when she rejected the narrative. Some of these same friends attacked her in print during the height of “vaccine” virtue signaling. By the end of the book, she is thoroughly aware of the insidious nature of this global operation and its dire implications.
Every chapter of The Bodies of Others is presented in two parts. The first is a description of the subject matter (lockdowns, distancing, cult of fear, “Vaccine Passports”) and related events for a “pandemic” time period along with analysis. The second part (printed in italics) is Ms. Wolf’s journal of what happened in her life during the same time period. Each part enlightens the other.
The approximate last third of the book is endnotes arranged by chapter (with links clickable in the Kindle ebook version).
A WAR AGAINST EVIL
I have been aware of Ms. Wolf as a writer and activist for several years. Like Chris Hedges, hers was a voice I respected as presenting a liberal view of world events. In recent years, “liberal” has taken on a meaning closer to fascist, and Ms. Wolf acknowledges this by identifying herself elsewhere as a “traditional liberal.” She has also been aware of the US descent into totalitarianism for a while. In 2007 she published The End of America: Letter of Warning to a Young Patriot, which contains her “ten steps to fascism” (where it is easy to see the US as having reached number ten).
Most of what Ms. Wolf writes about in this book is not new to me, but she verifies much else I’ve read and the conclusions I have reached. These include the uselessness of masks, lockdowns, and distancing, the bogus “infection” data being reported, the real reason for “Vaccine Passports” being proposed, and the transhuman aspect of the push for injections. Consequently, I greatly sympathize with her sorrow for the passing of the “human” world in 2020 (though I think 9/11/2001 is the primary demarc of the launch of the elite’s endgame).
Ms. Wolf understands this is a pivotal moment in human history, and that we are on a razor’s edge of survival as human beings. This is because, as she says, we are “engaged in a war against vast impersonal forces with limitless power over our lives for the freedoms we have taken for granted….” I agree. It is hard to not come to this conclusion. In fact, I have noted that more and more writers who are independent thinkers are reaching this same realization.
COMMUNIST TONES WITH THREATS TO RELIGION
Ms. Wolf certainly believed in the reality of the Covid virus in the beginning of the crisis, and seems to now. Several passages in this book indicate that and I paused over those passages. I feel like everything about the “pandemic” is a hoax, even the existence of a virus. However, there now does seem to have been something going around, making people sick in the early days. And it seems to have been a bio-weapon (re: Dr. Lee Merritt).
Like other alt-media commentators, Ms. Wolf mentions the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) as being perpetrators in this global scam. I hear that a lot from conservative alt-journalists and I have generally dismissed it as a throwback to cold-war hysteria. Ms. Wolf does, however, make a good case for CCP involvement, pointing out that much of the pandemic narrative and government edicts sound very communist in tone. I have to admit that is true, though it may come largely from the CCP being the model for those elite forces undermining the western world.
This communist tone also extends to attacks on religion. A common report on mainstream and alt news has been religious congregations being kept from meeting and ministers being threatened by authorities or thrown in jail. Even now, it seems that religious organizations (including even Buddhists and Unitarians) still embrace the mask and accept the “pandemic” as ongoing. It makes the truths they offer seem terribly compromised to me.
There is also the “machine” quality to the narrative and to what is happening. Ms. Wolf says: “Since April 2020, computer “models,” whether their assumptions turned out to be right or wrong, have driven policy.” On reflection, this seems very true and is underscored by a deluge of AI themes in the entertainment media.
FACING EVIL PROMPTS A RESPONSE
A moving section of The Bodies of Others is where Ms. Wolf relates of her religious faith being renewed out of the fearfulness of the “pandemic” narrative. She tells how this came about from her contemplations of the “magnitude of the evil around us; in its awe-inspiring level of darkness and inhumanity….” This renewal of religious faith is another thing I’ve noticed of commentators who are critical of the narrative. It seems faith is a common response to confronting evil. It is an appropriate response, I think, when realizing the awful truth documented in books such as The Bodies of Others.
Naomi Wolf passionately, sensitively and sensibly exposes what can easily be called a full out satanic attack on humanity. This book is well researched and supported by facts that have over the past two years been devilishly obscured so as to destroy the very foundation and fabric of life, community.
Wonderful and well written. Full if facts experienced by a country that has gone through he'll and hopes to return to a normal someday. Naomi was right, the time is now for us to stand up to evil or accept what globalist have in store. Would have liked more anger expressed as she understood what was happening to her . great book.
Feminist icon turned anti vaxxer. Very creative with data interpretation, very badly written, very not scientific. Author literally admits that all her knowledge about virology is non existent and that all she knows about pandemics is from novels. Yes, novels. At best funny at some parts, at worst - simply boring.
Once you read this book you may realize what very strange period in medicine where authorities demanded vaccines for pregnant woman and children. With this came ternary in many other forms. This book also gives facts, figures and others who we should emulate. Then it may end.
Must read for everyone, more so for those who still buy into this scamdemic BS and who cannot see the bigger evil of tyranny that has been forced upon us!
This was very informative and I enjoyed the writing style as well as the message. I keep wondering where all of the critical thinkers went through this crazy time we are all living in. I have mostly seen it from the political side that I agree most with. I'm happy to see it in someone who I believe is on the opposite political side as myself. Thank you Naomi for your hard work and dedication on digging into the Pfizer documents along with all of the volunteers. Also, thank you for being a loud voice of reason. Pointed out in this book were things I had thought about but also things I had not seen in the way you carefully laid them out.
Anyone that calls this a conspiracy theory obviously did not actually read the book. At no point does Wolf question the existence of COVID nor the risks involved. In fact, on page 176 she points out, “Risk is relative and all risk is personal…what I am saying is “The Science” presented by [MSM] failed to give Americans solid, honest data or an accurate explanation of real risk.” She admits COVID is real, but she asks the reader to question the data that was presented to us, how it was presented, how companies MAY have leveraged this to build massive profits, etc.
I also recommend anyone that looks into Wolf first to browse pages 210-211 in which she addresses the smear campaign against her. You’ll find an article in MSM calling her crazy for her Tweets, along with said Tweets, however, she explains these were either taken out of context or were satire but reported by these people as serious. Some were even deleted when she realized they weren’t phrased properly, yet somehow they managed to drag them up and publish them.
All-in-all this book should be ESSENTIAL reading, if simply to understand how fear can be leveraged to manipulate us into acting in ways we likely would not have before. It’s July 2022 as I write this, and currently there’s an outbreak of Monkeypox. The WHO has specifically stated there’s no cause for major concern as 99% of people that contract Monkeypox will be totally fine. We’re not being asked to mask, distance, quarantine, or lock down because of this virus. Yet COVID HAS THE EXACT SAME SURVIVAL RATE and we were led to believe it was this massively contagious and deadly virus we had to do anything to stop. Granted it’s airborne and not spread through fluid like MP, but when the survival rate is the exact same, what are we doing??? As of today California has reinstated mask mandates, yet OSHA and the FDA do not consider masks to be PPE. N95 masks only block 3 microns and bigger, yet COVID is smaller than this. READ THE FDA WEBSITE ABOUT MASKS (surgical, N95, etc.) and it will tell you the same thing. The FDA even mentions that masks can affect your breathing. NONE OF THIS IS CONSPIRACY.
Wolf presents fact after fact that truly must be considered as we try to address how we feel about COVID and what additional freedoms we’re willing to give up to stop the spread. We also must consider these facts in relation to anything else we’ll be asked to give up in the future. Once you read this book and the world Wolf paints, you’ll ask yourself how we ever let it happen. We have allowed madness to ensue and we must educate ourselves on it so we can avoid this in the future. Stop calling facts conspiracy. Stop calling people that question things conspiracy theorists. Use your brain. Question. It doesn’t mean you have to accept everything she says or agree with where she takes it. The point is to at least consider another narrative than the one paid for by big tech and big pharma.
PS: Notice how everyone giving this 1, 2, or 3 stars either don’t leave a review or, if they do, you can’t comment on their review unless you’re their friend? Don’t forget that bots and trolls exist in massive numbers in our society and are being used to drive divisiveness and push the MSM narrative.
Dr. Wolf has always proved to be an articulate and intelligent journalist, but she has truly outdone herself with this book. This is more than a mere "follow the money trail" revelation, it delves into the evil globalist agenda threatening every human on the planet. Well-researched, methodical, and heavily cited, it's no wonder Big Pharma, Big Tech, and their corrupt cronies have smeared her good name and have tried to censor her. Throughout history, those who were brave enough to expose corruption and speak truth have always been persecuted. This book needs to be translated into every language and made available in every country. BRAVA!!!! And thank you!
I believe one of the quotable lines in the book is "Tyrannies will not fall unless there is mass resistance." Most of us realize that our country is no longer the country we once loved and cherished. It has gone to trash in just a couple of years and anybody who does not have any suspicions about competence or motivations is somebody who is not paying attention or who blindly trusts our government. I was speaking to a co-worker last week after over two years of working from home, about the events of the last two years and after he made a derogatory comment about the knuckle-draggers who remain unvaccinated, I asked him if he was so confident in the vaccine, why did it matter to him if I remained unvaccinated. What threat did I pose to him? His eyes got wide, he stammered for a few seconds, and then he lamely responded "I don't want you to die." I then asked him if he believed everything the CDC posts, and he looked at me as if I were crazy and said "Of course."
Most of the American public has no idea how the agency works: how it is influenced by Big Pharma, the financial incentives of working at such an agency including lateral moves and promotions to the public sector where an individual's income can increase by over 100%, and the royalties on patents many federal workers receive. The corporate interests and government interests are also sometimes beneficially aligned. Ms. Wolf's book is a call to action to start or continue resisting the government mandates, the unlawful economic shutdowns and the assault on our personal liberties by a government drunk on power. Bravo to Ms. Wolf! Please continue to fight.
Well, this was an interesting book. While I may not agree with everything that was presented, the author's perspective on where we get our information and how trustworthy it is, is definitely thought-provoking. The book presents a critical analysis of the current state of the world, the rise of new authoritarians, and how COVID-19 has impacted our lives in ways that we may not yet fully understand.
I appreciate how the author does not shy away from difficult and controversial topics, and how she challenges readers to think critically about the information that we consume. In particular, the book highlights the ways in which the COVID-19 pandemic has exposed and exacerbated existing social and political inequalities. The author's insights on this issue are both relevant and timely.
Overall, I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in learning more about the current state of the world, and how COVID-19 has impacted our lives in profound and often unexpected ways.
While the book may not be for everyone, it does provide a unique perspective on these complex issues.
Wow, uh, I've never read her before but have seen lots of left recommendations and minutes into this audiobook is sounds like a right wing antivax conspiracy book. If anyone can correct me and tell me it's worth my time to continue, I'll come back to it.
So, let me just say from the start that I never believed the nonsense from day one. I have never worn a moronic face mask ever, anywhere, and nor will I when the evil men and assorted morons again tell us we must, as I am pretty sure they will (unless, of course they decide it will interfere with the efficiency of surveillance cameras, of course, but then they can always mask up little children again, as moronic teachers just love to do).
I will not take the rotten experimental ‘vaccines’ and I will probably never go and see a doctor again, unless I break a bone. Most doctors and nurses are either moronic, cowardly or wholly corrupt, and have proved this very well over the last two and a half years.
This book is written by a woman who was very much a silly liberal for most of her life and bought into the nonsense at first, as her background would predict, and there are one or two silly ideas here (that raised cholesterol is somehow an indicator of poor health - she should read more books on diet and heart health by those few doctors who stand outside the foolish mainstream thinking on this such as Dr Malcolm Kendrick, Dr Eric Westman and Dr Jason Fung).
However, she did change her mind and this book is worth reading, but I feel that those who most need to read it won’t. Too many are still convinced the government did the best it could in response to a real threat. But there was no threat. This book is mistaken in thinking there was and that lots of people died solely from a cold bug. No, if anyone died it was because they were already close to death and a cold pushed them over the edge, or they weren’t given any effective treatments, but told to stay home until they couldn’t breathe. Only the old and frail died, along with some (the obese) whose treatment was wholly mismanaged by those moronic/cowardly/evil doctors.
My husband says he can’t worry about things he can’t control. He wore a mask and fell for the lies to the extent that he took two of the experimental jabs. My son, too, and everyone else I know participated in the huge con, either because they were bullied by their families or because they were the bullies and the virtue signallers and the cowards. Well, all of you who wore a mask, I would like to ask - are you happy that your example meant that little children (as young as two in New York) were masked for hours and hours in schools? Do you ever think about what might have happened if every adult had said no to useless and filthy masks? Perhaps children wouldn’t have suffered so and perhaps those who are very intellectually impaired might not be so terrified as to still be wandering outside and everywhere in their bacteria-ridden moronic masks, as they were today on the High Street where I live.
And perhaps our venal, evil governments might have thought twice about, for example, crushing small businesses and closing churches and GP surgeries and forcing women in labour to wear a mask…
Oh well. I know I am in a very small minority, perhaps because I don’t listen to, watch or read mainstream media such as the absolutely corrupt BBC. But honestly - the majority of you believed and even still believe the absolute evil lies. And so all I can say is, perhaps you deserved it, and deserve what’s coming. And if you comment below this review that you are ‘vulnerable’ or you have ‘long covid’ or that ‘someone you know died of it, so there!’ Well, all I can say is, are you sure? And for your own sake, if you feel ‘vulnerable’ do something about your own health and stop expecting others to to take responsibility for you.
The Bodies of Others is easy to read considering it's honesty and perspective of what has been a grueling experience for the past 2 years. Wolf doesn't flinch in reviewing the aftermath, in many ways revealing the shell shocked remnants of our once free western culture. It will make you cry. But it's better to see clearly, isn't it?
Unfortunately it's hard to make a too firm, specific call to action. Not only are there so many illiterates about what's happening, that it's about control and not our health - but also outside of 'speaking up' it's hard to say what to do in the calm of the storm. Any of us who have been awake and following the asymmetrical war for the past 2 years are as mesmerized as her that so many people are still in denial and craving to ignore trouble. The sad truth is that not knowing when, who, and in what ways this new authoritarian regime will strike again continues to send cortisol through our lives and many systems.
Naomi Wolf's broad and technical knowledge across many fields, her analysis, and skill in transforming the complex into terms we can understand - make this the best book to inform us of what's happening now.
Not only is Wolf's book the best narrative of where we are now in this mess, it matches to a tee what I remember of the past 2 years. Now that the beginning of the lies and controls feel so long ago - it's almost comforting to get a reality check. Her telling of the story is gripping! Is honest. Which is a good thing, as much of the current state of journalism is corrupt and rotten to the core. I don't know whether I read the book slowly to savor the read or because it was exhausting to relive the experience - still looming and current. I was only half way through when I couldn't imagine rating this anything less than 5 stars and the best book on the subject.
There’s SO much to digest in this book that I took my time reading it. As a healthcare professional, I am deeply troubled by what we are told, how often that information is amended and simultaneously, how infrequently it is amended as well with all of the peer-reviewed clinical research being published. I’m equally concerned that to an extent information is shared with licensed healthcare providers that falls silent elsewhere. That should not be the case.
Sadly, people will have to look for their own information and review it with the unbiased lens with which peer-reviewed scientific information is given approval. Tough to do, if you are not familiar with reading those types of studies and disseminating the conclusions drawn and the future research that they purport needs to follow for further clarification on important subjects. Still, it’s a worthy pursuit if you seek truth and truly wish to believe the science.
This physician did an exceptional job synthesizing a great deal of information that you won’t find unless you go digging.
Naomi Wolf and I couldn’t be more ideologically apart. Well, until 'rule by executive government', globalism and tech companies conspired with Big Pharma to steal freedom from people across the planet.
Wolf weaves it all together anecdotally and empirically to create an indisputable narration of the events that have gone on to rob the world of its liberty. She eloquently covers the high social cost in a near fever pitch. Rightfully so.
One interesting thing I did note is that Wolf herself suffered far greater individual confrontation, gorilla tactics and attempted suppression than I ever did, informing me that her deep blue leftist friends and circles are indeed grossly more evil and mean-spirited than their political adversary’s on the other side.
Pair this with Robert Kennedy Jr’s book and you have the whole mess spelled out in all its evil.
Naomi Wolf, a liberal writer and political activist writes about the Covid pandemic and her slow realization that American's liberties were being taken away in the name of health care. Her friends reject her because she can't be vaccinated. She begins to research and find out that the vaccines are dangerous to people but that when she brings it up, her friends have been so propagandized that they ostracize her. She ends by looking to the future of our children when they have few liberties and wondering what we will tell them about what we did to stop it.
