Christine Feehan returns with another thrilling book in the paranormal romantic suspense Torpedo Ink series. The eighth book in the series features Kir Vasiliev, a man that doesn’t care whether he survives missions or not. Whatever the Torpedo Ink club needs, Kir is willing to do. He’s sure no one will miss him or care if he doesn’t make it back. Meanwhile financial planner and investment banker Ambrielle (Ambrie) Moore is strong, independent, and not willing to settle for just any man. When a gangster and his guards try to force her into marriage and signing over her family’s money, she refuses. They turn to murder. A grieving and angry Ambrie is ready to fight the marriage to the death when Kir and his club show up anticipating a helpless woman. However, Ambrie is nothing like they expected.

As always, Feehan does an incredible job of bringing the main characters to life. Ambrie is intelligent, a great investor and money manager, and unwilling to compromise on a man. Kir is lethal, fades into the background, plays music, writes songs, and feels like he is expendable and isn’t worthy in the eyes of his club mates. The way both of them were raised (very different) has shaped their lives. Each goes through a transformation as the story progresses. It was also great to reconnect with characters from previous books. This gave the series continuity and I enjoyed visited with old friends.

The story grabbed my attention immediately and didn’t let up as I rapidly turned the pages. There are two story lines in this multi-layered plot. Each is filled with suspense and danger. The author balances the violent aspects of the novel with the intrigue, romance, relationships, and some occasional humor. This action-packed novel features greed, cruelty, child abuse, human trafficking, coercion, alcoholism, death, friendship, romance, communication, and much more. Several spicy and steamy scenes are also included.

Overall, this heart-wrenching book has great characterization, several sizzling scenes, and plenty of action. Those who enjoy steamy and action-packed paranormal romantic suspense novels with compelling characters will likely enjoy this book. I have read more than seventy books by this author across multiple series. This one has the right mix of romance, tension, action, and thrilling storyline. I’m looking forward to reading my next book by this author.

Berkley Publishing Group and Christine Feehan provided a complimentary digital ARC of this novel via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are my own. Publication date is currently set for January 24, 2023.

This is the best Torpedo Ink story to date.

Master thinks he’s not an important member of the club. They only want him to go into prison’s to take care of there business. Every time he losses a little more of himself and his sanity.

“It’s nice not to feel alone. Thank you for giving that to me.”

Ambrielle has been targeted by a evil man. The club and Master come to her rescue. She marries a man she doesn’t know for revenge and safety. She is a tough strong capable woman is her own right.

“I’m pretty sure she used to be a quiet little thing,”

She’d always be his fairy princess.

This series just like any Feehan story is always on my go to list. This one was a huge hit. I’ve always loved Blythe but she shows us just how bad she can be in the story.

“Honey, would you and Master do me a huge favor and take out the trash while I show Ambrielle my gardens?

I really hope this amazing talented author keeps bringing us many more adventures like this for years to come.

This is my favorite Torpedo Ink novel! It is the story of Master and Ambrielle (Ambrie). It really is a beautiful love story. As with all the T.I. novels, there could be triggers for more sensitive readers, but less than some of the other books.
Readers will learn Master's back story in the brutal prison the children grew up in. He got his road name in a far different way than I had suspected. He is a rough tough member of the club, but Ambrie helps him find the humanity he thought he lost, or never had.
Ambries parents are murdered in front of her and she is determined to seek revenge, I liked the way the author had them come together.
There is also some humor in this book, which really did make me laugh. After reading the entire series so far I feel like I know these characters, and enjoy the humor between them.
Ambrie is by far my favorite wife in the series. She is intelligent, tough and determined. She never waivers or backs down in her choices. She is strong of character, a perfect match for Master. And she proves an asset to the club, as Czar knew she would....
This is really a fantastic love story, I am reading it again, and will definitely purchase it on release day.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to read and review this book.

First Impressions
Recovery Road is the eighth installment in the “Torpedo Ink” series and this is “Master”‘s story. I was so excited to get to his story, he is such a man of mystery and throughout the series, I have been wanting to get his character explored more and more. The setup of the romance was definitely my cup of tea, I have always loved seeing the marriage of convenience and I rarely see this in an MC romance, so I was so happy to see how it was done and the ways in which it played out. There is such strength in both characters as they come together and they are just right for each other in the ways that they balance each other out. Christine Feehan definitely delivered on this one and I was so happy that it was done just like this. And I would say it’s also one of my top favorites of the series, Feehan really has outdone herself on this gem.

Summary
Recovery Road begins with our hero, Kir or also known as “Master” Vasiliev who is at his breaking point. He has sacrificed so much for Czar and the club. He has been used in his mind in getting information and using his prison record to get him to get information. But after his recent visit, he knows he can’t do this ever again, even if it means walking away from the only family he has ever known. But then information is received that a young woman is being manipulated, her parents are being murdered in front of her, and the only way to protect her is for one of them to marry her in a marriage of convenience. Master senses that there is something special about this woman and is the first one to volunteer. When Ambrielle, sees her parents murdered in front of her to gain access to their money, and she is kidnapped. She doesn’t know how she will survive but is determined to get justice for what happened to her parents. When she is rescued by Master, she realizes that she will have to marry him to protect her family’s interests, she senses the strong connection between the two and is willing to do whatever it takes. As Master and Ambrielle go on this journey, their bond will only grow but will Ambrielle get the justice she needs for her parents, and will she and Master be able to build a partnership of respect and love?

What I Loved
There was so much to truly be endeared by this story. I just couldn’t seem to get enough of these two and all that they endured. There is so much strength in both of the characters and seeing the way that they build their relationship was so beautiful. I have to say that I was immediately drawn into this story and my heart immediately broke for Master and what he is struggling with. And you see that he is at his breaking point. And then you know what is to happen with the heroine and seeing the way she loses her loving parents was so heartwrenching. I just felt so deeply for both characters but the way in which they come together and are so willing to work on their marriage was so endearing. I loved how mature both characters are, and not petty or selfish in any way. They just see what needs to be done, and embrace what they can have together. It felt so refreshing to see a couple willing to work hard at what they have and see it as an opportunity and blessing. I truly fell hard for both characters and they had such strength and tenacity in what needed to be done. The MC really bonds with the heroine and I loved that they didn’t put her through the wringer of tests, haha I also liked that the heroine battled for the hero even against the club to make sure he was being treated fairly and honestly. She just rocked my world in so many ways. There was such a healthy portrayal of the relationship and such GREAT communication. Like can we have this be a trend in more romances these days? haha, I honestly had such a fun time with this story and was unable to put this one down. Feehan did wonders with this one and I am so happy with how it was written and ended up being a fully satisfying read.

What I Struggled With
I honestly didn’t really struggle with anything on this one, it was such a well-done romance

Overall View
I found Recovery Road to be a tantalizing read from beginning to end. It’s a story that will endear you to the characters, embrace a healthy relationship that is so captivating, balanced out with lots of laugh and family connection, and deliver in every way a heart-melting experience that each reader can embrace!

Wonderful addition to the Torpedo Ink Series!

Master really surprised me. I love all that is revealed about him from the heart breaking to the heartwarming! A man molded into a killer since childhood, unable to realize his self-worth beyond that. He'll sacrifice himself for his brothers, believes they see him as expendable, worse, he believes it, too.

Along comes Ambrielle, a strong, self-sufficient, intelligent woman who knows what she wants but has never found a man to share her heart. Then the circumstances that bring Master into her life, have taken her family, endangered her, and set her on a path of revenge.

Loved how Ambrielle's perspective of Master grows, changes. She goes from seeing him as weapon, a partner, to deliver justice to seeing the entire man, the parts he holds tight, the creative gifts he buries himself in to keep his sanity. His compassion and the support he gives. He understands the struggle she faces after trauma rips her world from her. She finds the man she can share herself with honestly.

Love how he learned from others' mistakes how to be open, honest about TI, about himself. Giving them a strong bond.
She sees his worth, accepts, and understands the whole of him. He is worthy of her love and deserves the respect of his Club. She just needs to get him to see it, get his club to understand his pain.

The danger she faces is wonderfully woven into the threats Torpedo Ink is facing. The enemies they are pursuing. I love the growth of the club in this book, to their new home, anunderstanding of a new normal. I like how Ambrielle uses her intuition and gift with probability to help Master, to show them there is more than their standard way to skin a cat. Really, oh wow, jaw-dropping twists to deliver Karma! The plotline moves forward, I'm left wondering if the end leaves them with a reprieve from the enemy of the past or opens awareness of them bringing their antagonist closer to discovering them.

It’s nice not to feel alone. Thank you for giving that to me.”

Kir “Master” Vasiliev was burnt out. He didn't care anymore if he lived or died. Infiltrating prisons to get information on assassins wanting to kill Czar and his family had taken a toll on him. Master feels dirty, the throwaway that no-one would miss. While thinking about leaving Torpedo Ink, Master's given the assignment to rescue a woman that's being forced into marriage for her inheritance by Walker Thompson, a casino owner whose also into human trafficking, and needs money. Torpedo Ink can't allow that to happen, so Master agrees to put his name on a marriage certificate to keep Ambrielle Moore safe.

“I intend to give you the world, Kir, if you’ll let me.”

Ambrielle Moore, finance advisor and only child was raised by loving parents who were career military, so she knows how to fight and handle weapons. Now, she wants revenge against the men who murdered her parents. Ambrielle proposes a real marriage with Master, recognizing his inner strength and a man who can help her avenge her parents' death. There's immediate attraction between Master and Ambrie, and Master agrees to marriage after explaining the club's rules to her.

Master and Ambrie find common ground in what they want from each other and discover that they both want love. Master decides to trust someone that's not T.I. and begins to see that he has value and that there's a misunderstanding between him and Czar. While Torpedo Ink work out their problems, they're being watch, and a new attempt will be made to assassinate Blythe by someone from Viktor's past. Master needs to infiltrate prison again to get information regarding "The Russian". He won't go in alone as he uses his abilities to once again show that he knows the prison system, the game, the weak, the strong, and those who are truly in control. This is why he's called The Master.

Kir "Master" is a member of Torpedo Ink and is feeling burnt out after his last prison assignment. He doesn't want to go undercover back in prison again but he doesn't think the other members of his team will listen to him so he's feeling really done.

Ambrielle "Ambrie" was held hostage and her parents were killed right in front of her. Now she's being forced to marry a mobster against her will for her money. She's sure that once her soon to be husband marries her and gets his hands on her money that he'll kill her.

When Master and the rest of Torpedo Ink find out about what's going on with her, they decide to step in and save her. But in order to keep her from being kidnapped and forced to marry the mobster again, they tell her that she should marry Master so she's already married to someone and they'll be able to keep her safe.

Master let's her know that she doesn't have to marry him but if she does, they'll be no divorce because he and his crew marry for life. He thinks she's too good for him and wants one of the other guys to marry her but she agrees to marry him because she kind of feels safe around him and when she gets to know him she can see that he's not a bad guy. She gets to see that the other guys in Torpedo Ink are very nice to her and so are their wives even though the guys are a bit rough around the edges. She starts to see that things aren't always as they appear to be and that she can trust them all. So when they go after the people who killed her parents there's a lot more going on there than they first suspected. And then their leader and his family are targeted by someone and they have no idea who it is or why they are being targeted. They have to figure that out as well as go after the people that killed Ambrielle's parents.

I love how they all work together really well, even the wives get in on the action. The pranks that are going on between Savage and the sheriff are hilarious and we get to see a completely different side of Savage. It was nice that this book was mostly Master and Ambrielle getting to know one another and there was no BDSM in this book unlike in some of the previous books. This was just a sweet romance between Master and Ambrielle although there is a lot of talk about how well endowed Master is.

All of the Torpedo Ink members have horrible pasts and childhoods. We get to hear what happened to some of them but there wasn't as much graphic details as in the previous books. For this reason and to get to know these characters better, I think it's a good idea to read this series in order.

recovery roadRecovery Road continues the Torpedo Ink series. This series is dark, but I have really enjoyed it and was excited for another story. Master and Ambrie's story is dark, but ultimately hopeful!

Master doesn't really care if he dies. He feels like being the one club member who didn't have his criminal record wiped clean means the club doesn't care about him. He knows that if he has to go back into prison for another job, it will be the death of him. Ambrielle was almost forced into a marriage by a thug who wanted her inheritance, but at the last second she was saved by Torpedo Ink. To keep her safe, she marries Master on the spot.

Both of them have feels for each other, and they really want this to be an honest marriage. Master has no self esteem left, and is sure Ambrie will leave him once the danger has passed. Ambrie isn't a damsel in distress though and she fights hard to show Master that he is worthy of her love. Their story is really powerful in the way it shows the damage done to one's psyche and how difficult it can be to repair it. I just loved these two so much!

Some of the books in this series are meh...for me, but this one really drew me in from the start. I felt for Master and how he felt like he was treated different in the group. Was glad later that he learned he wasn't, that he was valued for what he thought was done to him by the group. I think it helped him really feel like he was a part of them, not just allowed to be in if he did what they asked.

I felt for Ambrielle and the situation she found herself in. Was glad that the club was there to save her, wasn't sure about the "marriage", but that turned out good. Ambrielle really saw Master as someone good, something he really needed in his life. Master let Ambrielle in on the revenge she needed. The larger family atmosphere of the club seemed to be good for Ambrielle too, gave her something she didn't have.

I was so glad that these 2 found their way to happy, both deserved it!

On a side note, I loved how the prank war is heating up between the club and Jackson. What they did to his truck...genius!! I also loved all the time spent at the tea shop with Hannah Drake. I'd love to see a full blown story with the club and the Drake sisters!

Another excellent addition to the Torpedo Ink series! Master and Ambrielle mesh so well together, one of the best couples in the series so far. Christine Feehan continues to treat the subject of severe child abuse and it’s effects on the adults those children become thoughtfully and carefully. I also really enjoyed how independent Ambrielle was. She and Master had great chemistry from the moment they met, becoming a team in a way many of the other couples in this series didn’t/haven’t. They stood up for one another. Feehan of course has written many couples over the course of her writing career and I’ve enjoyed every one I’ve read but Master and Ambrielle are special. Looking forward to the next books in the series!

A heart-wrenching series altogether, Ambrielle and Kir's story adds another entertaining and moving story of love to the line up. Kir "Master" no longer cares if he lives or dies. His role in Torpedo Ink is the expendable one and he's ready for the end. But when his most recent mission uncovers a plot that turns them onto Ambrielle Moore, he's more surprised than anyone that he cares about her outcome.

Ambrielle loves her life. She has a job she loves and great parents. No one could anticipate coming to the attention of a crazy person with too much money and an obsession. Now, her parents have been murdered and her inheritance is the target of greed and a psychopath. Who would have thought that that combination would lead her to the person she would come to cherish the most.

I absolutely love getting each and every member of Torpedo Ink's individual stories. It still surprises me how unique they can be while also continuing to mine the depths of human atrocity. I hope to hell no real person has personal histories like this but with so much greed and corruption in the world it truly wouldn't surprise me either. A wonderful series full of love, redemption, and light at the end of the tunnel.

I received this novel as an ARC from Netgalley.

Recovery Road is the 8th installment of Torpedo Ink series. This series deals with topics that can be triggering to sensitive readers and this book is no exception to that, although it has less triggers than other books in the series. As always, Christine Feehan does an excellent job writing a story that is exciting, funny, and intensely romantic. Ambrielle is the perfect woman for Master. She’s strong, brave, caring, and everything he needs in a partner. Master becomes Ambrielle’s safe place and he’s exactly what she needs during the hardest moment in her life. They truly are meant for each other. I really enjoyed the relationship between the club members and their usual banter, which is one of my favorite parts of this series. I’m excited to see who’s story is next.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing this arc in exchange for an honest review

This is the eighth book in the series, and I would definitely recommend that you read them all in order, to really get the full story. It is pretty complicated, and intense, so dropping in at this stage could be pretty confusing. I would add that each one is fabulous, so why would you want to miss out. Feehan has created an amazing band of people who have lived through a totally horrific childhood, and yet are now finding their special person and learning how life changing that is.

Master (Kir) has a very difficult role in the group and feels that he loses his last vestiges of humanity each time he has to go into prison. So when he meets Ambrie, little can he imagine that she will be part of his future. She turns out to be much more than he could ever expect. and I love that they share a deep interest in mathematics and logic. I cannot tell you how amazing this love story is, and how unlikely. I cannot tell you more, because I am convinced you will thank me!

It is almost impossible for me to explain how intense, how dark, and how delicious this book is. Every installment I think that it cannot be surpassed, but this is quite possibly my favourite yet.

Triggers: Hidden because they may contain spoilers.

This book didn't hold my attention the way the other books in this series has. The insta-love between Ambrie and Master seems a bit forced. I understand attraction and how it makes people do crazy things, but for me, it just didn't work in this couple.

Also, the way that Master is treated by his brothers left me torn. I realize that it's Master's place to stand up for himself, but it's also his brothers' place to pay attention to Master to make sure that he's okay. And while I understand Czar's protective instinct to put his wife and children first, no one should have to pay for those lives with their own.

Ambrie is a smart cookie and does what she needs to do to survive. However, she's a bit whiny and over the top.

4.5* I LOVE THIS SERIES!!!

This was book number eight in the series of Torpedo Ink. It is a spin-off of Sea Haven & Drake Sisters. This men & women in the Torpedo Ink MC are Bad.Ass. MOFO's. They were all raised together but have a deeply tragic past.

I just wish I knew who was going to be taking place front and center in the spotlight for the next book.

My only issue is that I need this book soon. Because there was a little bit of a cliffhanger that I am dying to find out about. But I took a half point off because I did feel like she wrapped up the bad guy a little too easy. Plus, even tho they got the bad guys that I wanted to, there are more villain's out there we haven't met yet. And from that last phone call, we know there are some things that are already in the works that torpedo Inc is going to have to run down and take care of. Basically, they just broke a couple of spokes off the wheel just enough to cripple it, not enough to take it down.

Can't get enough of this series!

Kir "Masters" Vasiliev is a member of Torpedo Ink. He goes into prisons to ferret information or to kill assassins. Each time he enters a prison, he loses a part of himself. He questions his sanity and what makes him civil, as well as his value to the club.

Ambrielle "Ambrie" Moore is a financial planner and investment banker. When a mobster and his men kill Ambrie's parents just to get to the family money, Ambrielle declares vengeance on the men. When she is forced to marry the mobster Walker, she is determined to kill her soon-to-be husband. Luckily, Masters and his brothers and sisters of Torpedo Ink come to the rescue. Masters believes he is rescuing a damsel in destress, but Ambrie is no fainting flower. She is tough, intelligent and knowledgeable in weaponry. To keep Walker from kidnapping Ambrie and forcing her to marry him, Kir places his name upon the marriage certificate. Ambrie looks into Kir's eyes and knows she has found the one man who will kill for her. She agrees to marry Masters.

Christine Feehan is an exceptional writer who brings her characters, setting and descriptions vividly alive. The protagonists are well matched. Masters and Ambrie's character growth is what attracted me to them. Their love story is steamy at times, but there is no BDSM. I was able to comfortably enjoy the romantic plot. There are two main subplots in this novel. We get to see just how protective Czar's wife, Blythe, is when it comes to someone threatening her family. The Mama Bear in her is aroused to protect her young. The dialogue is realistic and flows well among the characters. The description of Kir's childhood is muted compared to the other novels in the series. The setting is grounded in the characters. This eighth book in the Torpedo Ink series is a gem. It just might be my favorite novel of the series. Adult situations and language.

"Look at me, beautiful woman, in the eyes, so you see I'm telling you the truth. I'll be right in the next room. nothing will happen to me. I'll leave the door open, and I'll stay in your line of vision so you can look in and see me at all times. We're in this together, remember?"

Is this the end of the series? I never want it to end.
I want it to go on, I want more of their stories, dynamics and chemistry.

I can't pick and choose which of the books in the series is my favourite.
But this read was well written and the characters, both Master and Ambrielle were written in such a way you really get to know the characters, their stories and how their character developed throughout the plotline.

Master is such a sweetheart I swear, we need to protect him at all cost.

"You. I want you. You marry me, there's no divorce. There's no walking away. We make it work. That's the deal. You give yourself to me and you promise to stay, and it's done. Otherwise, I just go after the fuckers myself and kill them. Either way, they're going to die. You have to know that, princess, they'll die either way. That I can give you my word on."

I read this series just to see if the current book can possibly be crazier than the previous book. So far with books 1 - 8, the answer is a fun, ridiculous, eye rolling yes! I never know how to rate one because I think each is so, so bad, but I also think that every one is ridiculously good in how crazy bad it is. While tamer in the romance plot lines than some of the other books, the action, mystery, thriller parts are still so ridiculously nuts. I definitely didn't love it, but I'm absolutely going to read the next one in the series.

Loved and enjoyed this one. Master is a character I have wanted to understand better for a long time. This man truly would burn the world for Ambrielle, and she truly would do anything to make sure he knew he was worthy of everything he wants in life.
Truly excited to see where this goes in the overall plot.

What another fantastic book by Christine Feehan. Loved Master and Ambrielle's story. Hopefully the next book would be Preacher and Sabelia or Alena and Destroyer

***Thank you to NetGalley for providing this e-ARC in exchange for an honest review***

In the latest installment of Feehan's Torpedo Ink series, Recovery Road features Master, and new character Ambrielle. Though Master has been with the other members of the club since childhood, he views himself as separate based on the work he is often tasked with on behalf of the club. After his latest stint in prison for club business, Master is released and immediately finds himself drawn to a photo of Ambrielle, and the club's scheme to find out how's after them -- and also Ambrie. Featuring a marriage of convenience, the central couple is quickly thrown together, and she is folded into the club. As is usual with this series, the club members operate on their own set of rules and morals. Master is no exemption, but as he fast becomes enamoured with his wife, he worries that his life may be too much for her to accept. Dealing with the grief and trauma of losing her parents, Ambrie looks to Master for comfort, and security.
I really enjoyed the latest installment in the series, and would recommend to fans of motorcycle romances, and light paranormal romance.

Book 8 in the Torpedo Ink series, this is the story of Master and Ambrielle. I cringed a little inside every time Ambrielle called him Master. Other than that, I enjoyed this story. It is much better than the last few books in the series, a return to what I liked about the first books. Good story with interesting characters. Still a very spicy book, but no kinky sex. I liked how kick ass Ambrielle was, ready to take on the world to get revenge for her parents murders.

Kir “Master” Vasiliev has given his all for Torpedo Ink by spending much of his time in and out of prisons as an assassin for his MC. He is barely holding on by a thread with little motivation to keep going other than his club brothers and sisters, but even that is fading. When Master goes on a mission to rescue a kidnapped woman, Ambrielle Moore, he is in for the surprise of his life.

Ambrielle is a successful investment banker and money councilor who catches the eye of a nasty mobster involved in drugs and human trafficking. Along with her wealthy parents, Ambrie is targeted by the felon who wants to marry her and claim all the family’s assets. The chances are she will not survive the honeymoon. When Ambrie resists, things turn very deadly throwing her world into chaos and heartbreak.

Ambrie vows to take revenge on her captor so when Master arrives with his Torpedo Ink crew, she takes a very unusual step bonding them together because she knows this man can and will protect, defend, and help her carry out her goals. Master thought he would never have anyone in his life to love or care for; he is determined to make the relationship work even though he believes himself irredeemable and too broken for Ambrie to stay past their mutual agreement to seek out her enemies.

Master is a tortured soul like all the members because of their horrific pasts. Ambrie has been raised to believe one day, she will find her soulmate; she sees that man in Master. Ambrie fits in well with extended family though like most of the mates, she has some adjusting to their way of being in each other business and where loyalties lie. There are some entertaining moments including Savage and Jackson’s continued feud and one-upmanship when it comes to embarrassing each other. In this eighth book of the Torpedo Ink series, I am pleased to say Ms. Feehan has not continued the stepped-up kink of the previous books although if Maestro gets his story told, that may very well change.

Recovery Road is the 8th book in the Torpedo Ink and I found this installment very entertaining and loved the male and female leads. The book features Kir “Master” Vasiliev and Ambrielle Moore. Master lives like recklessly because he doesn’t care whether he lives or dies. The things he has had to do for the club have left him at the end of his tether. Ambrielle Moore is an investment banker who was forced to watch the execution of her parents and almost forced to marry a deranged mobster wanna-be.

Christine Feehan did an excellent job providing us with a perfect mix of exciting action, endearing romance and blazing hot intimacy. The book flows really well and is very hard to put down. As usual it was wonderful to be brought back to the Torpedo Ink family. The entire series is based on such a unique premise and the characters from the MC are all damaged in some way. It is always interesting to see who they will be matched with. The special someone that is going to fill the void and put their pieces back together while accepting them for the individual they are.

I would highly recommend this book to people who enjoy the works of Kristen Ashley's Chaos series or Chantal Fernando's Wind Dragon MC series.

I was provided an ARC through NetGalley for an honest review.

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

~~Trigger warning~~ multiple homicides/traumatic experiences

This book didn't hold my attention the way the other books in this series has. The "insta-love" between Ambrie and Master seems a forced.

I loved that we’re finally getting more of the backstory and hidden underground story of torpedo ink, kir and ambrie make an amazing kick ass couple however I did have an issue where they went from her having a serious love of numbers and making a huge point of this at the start to it not being anything after her parents died.. she had a job and a business and it’s been left a little unfinished
I would love yo know if more of the story is coming out soon!?
They keep mentioning 19 escaped.. do we get 19 amazing books?

The story was an easy read in slot of places but a lot of confusion in others it wasn’t my favourite of the series sadly but I did enjoy it!

The best in this series so far!

I’ve struggled quite a bit with this series since probably the first book in that I don’t mind a dark romance and indeed I really enjoy MC romance but this series has been gratuitous in its repetition of child abuse as well as in its use of past trauma as an excuse for emotional abuse and gaslighting of heroines. Yet, I’m invested in this authors various series and I’ve kept up with this one in the hopes that it will get better and in the knowledge that CF is genuinely a good storyteller. This book more or less is proof that a story about a club linked by devastatingly vicious childhood trauma can still reflect the healing power of love™️ in a relationship while remaining true to the face that trauma can inform current actions.

The premise is that when financial planner, Ambrielle faces a devastating loss, she marries Master in a marriage of convenience to get revenge on those who hurt her family. But when sparks fly between the two, it is uncertain whether they’re both too damaged to make a relationship between them work long term.

This was wonderful. I started it in the morning and could barely put it down all day. Ambrielle and Master are an absolute delight and it was great to see Czar not in perfect control and to get more insight into the Torpedo Ink crew. I loved that this focused more on the romantic relationship between Ambrie and Master and honoured it as being story enough to carry the plot but still gave us plenty of the action we’ve come to expect from this series. This is by far my favourite in this series so far and the first one I’ve really read feeling happy for the heroine.

Ambrie and Master’s need for each other is off the scale from their first meeting. Ambrie has been through a traumatic experience and bonds with Master for revenge. Master is part of a band of brothers and sisters known as Torpedo Ink brought up together as family since childhood in Russia. They all have extra skills learnt through trauma and training which most did not survive. Master feels burnt out though his many trips into prison. He has a death wish. Ambrie is his light. The relationships is the thread that runs through this whole story and really pulls you in and feel involved. There’s plenty of exciting action to keep you on the edge of your seat. It’s the main characters relationship that keeps you fully involved. Part of a series this story sets a high benchmark.
Thank you NetGalley and (publisher, Little Brown Books ) for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.
