Even Dogs Go to Other Worlds is a fairly generic isekai story of an OP MC (in this case the dog being OP, not the MC) ending up in a generic fantasy world with a European feel, rescuing damsels in distress and in general having an easy time. While I do enjoy stories like this (such as Death March and By the Grace of the Gods), the story felt a bit too much like fitting the tropes and the irritation overwhelmed my enjoyment. Sources for these eyeroll moments were for example, a duke's adult daughters being able to ride away during the day into a dangerous forest without being stopped or being guarded to search for a few herbs to cure her sister's fever like a little kid might do, or 6 thugs who ambush a couple of armed soldiers and a wolf the size of huge warhorse in the middle of town. The MC was also too timid for my taste. In the end it was not my kind of story.

Even Dogs Go to Other Worlds Vol 1 had its moments, but overall, it fell short of my expectations. The premise of a man and his dog being isekaied into another world intrigued me, but the execution left much to be desired. The story lacked significant progression, and it primarily revolved around a slice-of-life power fantasy that seemed to verge on harem territory , which isn't my preferred genre.
One major issue I had was with the inconsistent portrayal of the aristocratic society. The setting is meant to be formal and hierarchical, but the behavior of certain characters, like the duke's daughter freely wandering into the forest or entering men's rooms while they sleep, seemed out of place and contradictory.
The choices made by background characters were also questionable. For example, the attempted robbery from thugs felt forced and poorly thought-out. It's hard to believe that city thugs would target a noblewoman, her knights, and a giant wolf.
The relationships between the characters lacked depth and development. In a slice-of-life story, the characters should shine, but throughout most of the book, the main character had little meaningful knowledge about others, making it challenging to feel invested in their connections.
On the positive side, the bath scene with the dog turned wolf had genuine emotion and believability, which was a standout moment in an otherwise lackluster narrative. The author demonstrated the ability to write engaging scenes, but the book suffered from an info dumps for world building and too many characters, making it difficult to maintain interest.

August 18, 2024I got to 16% and decided not to waste more time. It’s just…so convenient that his little Maltese turned into the royal mascot, a silver Fenrir. People don’t generally survive seeing them, but of course they know exactly how they look and what they can do. In this case, she’s basically unstoppable and also breathes fire (that’s a fenrir skill I’ve never read about before).
I gave up at the point where the servants discuss - IN FRONT OF HIM - whether to trust his story, which they decide to because their lady does 🙄 that’s some hospitality there, talking about whether to believe your guest while he’s sitting there. These are servants super obsessed with proper manners, btw.
Also, the way he keeps talking about the attractiveness of each female he’s met gives me harem vibes, and I’m not down for that.

A fine story of a man and his dog.
This is a good story of a man on the harder end of life who ends up in another world with nothing but his cloths, shoes, and dog. Though at times it seems to be implying another typical unaware hero with a harem of love struck girls following him around trope, it seems to be avoiding that outcome by the end of this volume so far. Fair warning though, they talk about food quite a bit. So you may wind up hungry at some point. I know I did. Other than that it is a light hearted story with quite a bit of good humor. I fully recommend for anyone who just wants a good stress free laugh and a relaxing read.

Audio: 5Stars - Great Job with so many voices.
Story: Very laid-back easy going. It's very slow pace, so if you do not have much patience, this book is not for you. I wish though that the MC will focus more in adventuring and growing his craft instead of wafting time with the pain in the but "Lady" I do not get why this stories waste so much time on "romance" instead of focusing on the adventure and magic part. Specially when the Claire character is so annoying! She is nothing of a spoiled brat, short term and selfish.....she was just basically jealous and couldn't stand someone having something she didn't. No matter how much the author tried telling me she was kind and caring. Let's see what the next book brings up. Onto my next adventure, Happy Readings!!!

This book started off by pulling at my heartstrings. The thought of my puppy seeing me pass away and trying to help is just heartbreaking. (I'm getting choked up just thinking about it.)
After this emotional scene, we have a moment of catharsis that makes up for that traumatizing scene. It then follows the generic isekai story torpes, and fails to hook me with anything. Neither its magic system, its world building, nor it's side characters were engaging enough for me to follow this light novel series.

I have some misgivings about how tropey the characterization feel/is going to get. I have encountered a few iterations of that butler already in other isekai. Given the fanservice-y harem-ish moments, I'm probably not the target audience even haha.
Other than that, I think the story is pretty interesting so I might check out Vol. 2 when I can. I'm still interested in learning more about why small puppy turned into jumbo wolfy and the cute baby fenrir.

what a fun read
I really enjoyed this novel… In fact, I bought the next two. The fact that he I skied and took his dog with him was perfect. I always get sad when I think about all the things that people leave behind when they get icy kid and be able to take your beloved pet with you is very sweet and generous. I also like that there isn’t some big bad even have to fight it’s just kind of every day life.

This was fine but I don't think I will be continuing the series. I wasn't hooked.
Basically, a boy and his dog end up in another world. The dog, for reasons not revealed in book 1 has undergone a major transformation. They meet a girl who needs their help. They help her.
I didn't feel particularly connected to any of the characters. I wasn't overly invested in the story.
It was just okay for me.

An decent start to a series as I do like that Takumi is not op by himself and that he does need help from the supporting cast as he does not know how to fight nor does he really have any broken powers like other Isekai heroes. I do really like Leo and I like that she is still tries to act like a cute little dog despite the fact she is a towering monster. I do like the focus on just world building and character development over action.

There's a GINORMOUS adorable, cuddly factor in this manga, but the story is not really compelling -i love it for the adorable big doggo, but the rest of the cast is as generic as it comes. The hero got it all easy, he's plotarmored, nothing interesting really happens. hope that with the second volume, things will get better.

Takes 285 pages to get to what could have been summed up in 7 or so paragraphs. Nothing happens in this book, maybe the second book will have any sort of direction for the story but I'm not sticking around to find out today.

This is my second manga, and I’m loving it. Obviously I picked this one bc of the dog. But it was super cute and I can’t wait for the next one to come out. 🥰
