I need the rest of this story! I need to know what happens to the characters! The imagery is so well written that I have no trouble being right in the story, getting mud on my boots and feeling the mist on my face... Or I just have a really vivid imagination 😉 I definitely recommend this book 😁

This review extract is only 2 chapters long but sets up the story nicely, with an enticing mixture of history and sci-fi. Individuals with special ‘gifts’ is always an intriguing premise and sucked me in very quickly to the different story strands.

I did dock one star because I wasn’t sure that I totally liked the writing style - it kept me at too great a distance from the characters- but that would probably have passed if I had been able to continue reading.

Quite good. I eagerly anticipate the full book. My one quibble is that the author uses a lot of run-ons, but that shouldn't detract from one's enjoyment of the book. I'm going to be chomping at the bit to get the full book.

Had some X-men qualities

Even though it reminded me so much of the X-men, it kept me reading and wanting to find out what happened next.
Now I am amped up waiting for the conclusion.

Audio book was a good choice due to the talented narrator's multiple voices.
Had to start it twice. The storyline was interesting, and unique, but the character dialogue basic, and predictable.
Overall worth reading.

I experienced this as an audiobook, and have to admit that at times my mind wondered and I missed a bit of plot development. With that being said, I found the characters interesting and engaging. It's a unique and interesting universe and the story is told beautifully.

A fun book, not my standard fare. Teenager me would been all about this book. Adult me appreciated that it was a page turner and had interesting characters.
