Dreams Trilogy #1

Dreams of You

Rate this book
Dean Cullen.

Boy next door. My best friend’s big brother. I’d known the arrogant, bossy, domineering jackass my entire life.

Falling in love with him would be such a cliché.

Not to mention, the town’s golden boy (insert eye roll here) had big plans to get the hell out of Dodge and they didn’t include me. Which was fine. I had my own life mapped out, far from his.

Falling in love with the boy with stars in his eyes was the last thing I wanted to do.

That’s why I tried to deny how much his infectious smile haunted my dreams. I planned to ignore my sudden infatuation until it went away. No one would ever know.

Fate had other ideas. While I was trying not to fall in love with Dean, he was falling in love with me.

Book one in The Dreams Trilogy.

Carina Adams, an Amazon and international best selling author, is an avid reader who loves the epic and unconventional, has an unhealthy obsession with Stanley Tucci, loves the sound of Johnny Cash, is the crazy friend your mom warned you about, has a heart and soul as black as the coffee she drinks, believes you’ll see her compete on Survivor one day, and hopes to go through the stones and find Jamie Fraser.

Carina has been writing and creating characters for as long as she can remember, allowing her to fall in love with the next man of her dreams with every new story. None of which are anything like boring Prince Charming.

Thankfully, fate stepped in and granted her the ultimate wish—a life full of men. Carina lives in a tiny Maine town with her biker-turned-businessman husband who keeps her on her toes and their two heathens who made her realize that wicked chicks do, indeed, lay deviled eggs.

Note: I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I wanted to like this...so bad, I did.

I mean just look at the cute cover and storyline.

But I guess the teenage moments/flashbacks between Lennon and Dean were not something I enjoyed, despite knowing full well they make the crux of the story, and their present moment of being adults.

Therefore, I ended up skimming through the story, and not being able to actually see the reason why they broke up in the first place - I lost patience by that point.

I am not sure if the next books will give me any hope to continue. But let's see.

Until the next read,

Review by Jen Skewes

I have read every one of Carina Adams’ books and I think this is by far her best writing yet. This book made me feel it all. Everything about this book felt so real. The love, the friendships, the pain, every bit of it felt like I was going through it all with these characters. This is a love story like no other, and it has only just begun.

Dean and Lennon have known each other since they were in diapers. Lennon is best friends with his sister Dylan. They are a year apart and it has always been the three of them and Dean’s two best friends Tate and Shaun. The three boys are always looking out for and protecting their little sisters. They did everything together growing up including sleepovers. But now that they are older and in high school things are starting to change. And at some point Lennon’s feelings for Dean cross that line of friendship. He may not see what Lennon feels at first, but he begins to realize his owns feelings for her have changed. No longer does he look at her as the little siter he has been protecting. But the two of them crossing that line could change everything. But there is no denying what these two feel. The feelings they have for each other is not just some teenage love. It is intense and real, and the kid of love that you can feel deep in your soul. They are truly meant to be, but their story is going to be a very bumpy ride.

Dreams of You mostly takes place in the past. We see how Dean and Lennon went from friends to lovers. But this story is so much more than that. We see the different relationships that she has with each one of her friends. This five of them are a tight group and will do anything for each other. I loved watching Dean and Lennon’s love for each other unfold as well as seeing how the people around them reacted to it. The love they have is like no other. It is that all consuming love that you feel so deeply about. One that you feel within the depths of your soul. When you read their story, you will feel every ounce of love and passion that these two have for each other. They have their ups and downs but trust me this is just the beginning of their ride.

I don’t want to say anything else about this story other than how amazing it was. Ms. Adams’ writing was flawless. She made me feel everything. From love, to disappointment, frustration, hurt and sadness. I felt every bit of love that Dean and Lennon had for each other. But again, this story was not just about them. The supporting characters are every bit as important as Dean and Lennon. I loved the friendship she has with not just Dylan but Tate and Shaun. They may have been Dean’s best friends but their protectiveness when it came to Lennon melted my heart. She has a special bond with each other them that I loved. But this story was not all hearts and rainbows. To say Carina Adams crushed my heart is a complete understatement. This is a trilogy so yes it does end on a cliffhanger. One that I still have not gotten over. All I know is that I will be taken on one hell of a ride before this is all over. I am not sure how much of my heart will be obliterated before Ms. Adams puts it all back together again. And If she does obliterate my heart I am not sure if I can forgive her for it….lol. Regardless I am ready for book two, I think. This is my second time reading this book. It’s been a week since I finished it and I am still thinking about it. Talk about a book hangover. If you read one book this year, make it this one and the next two of course.

I don't quite have the words to tell you all just how special this book and these characters are, but I do know that I've never enjoyed such a heart crushing read more. This is so much more than a brothers best friend romance-- this is about the highs and lows of life, figuring out what is most important to you and keeping it, overcoming every obstacle that's put in your way either by your friends, your parents, or even yourself. It's about living your life to the fullest with no regrets -- and realizing that's an impossible feat.

Each character wormed their way into my heart and even when I wasn't reading, I couldn't stop thinking about this and all the possibilities their lives could go. At this point I both love and hate Dean, and maybe it's biased to say, but I am 1000% team Lennon. That girl has been through so much pain, and we still have two more books to go.😭😭

That ending gutted me. Especially for.. well, if you know you know. But my goodness my heart just broke for that person and all that was lost.

I've never read Carina before, and I'm kicking myself for not doing so earlier. This is just pure magic and I can't wait to go on the rest of the journey with these lovely people!

I will say though, if you're looking for a spicy romance, this is not for you. But I implore you to stick around because it would be tragic to miss this.

************************************************

Don't walk, RUN to that preorder and one click the shit out of this book. Holy fuck, this is amazing. I'm always skeptical about starting a romance featuring teenagers, but THIS one is so fucking special. And equally heartbreaking. Ugh, I need book two NOW.

**Full RTC when I stop crying.😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

A top read of 2023 and one of the most underrated books I’ve ever read. Why is no one talking about this trilogy?

I am not lying when I tell you that I inhaled this book and lived and breathed this world. I fell in love three times over.
With Dean, Shaun and Tate and no this isn’t a why choose.

This is a teen, high school, second chance romance with all the angst and heart breaking moments.

I am dying to find out what happens in book two but after that cliffhanger I need to time recover, wipe my tears and catch my breath.

Be warned though, book three isn’t out until January 30th.

Holy hell!! I am not over this book!!! My heart is currently beating outside of my chest!! This is some of the best world/character development I've read lately! All the twists and turns, and I don't know which way is up! Dean and Len are so meant for each other, but.... but!!!!! I don't know where this story is going to take us, but I know that my heart is going to continue to beat outside of my chest! I will hold it in my hands and try my best to protect it, but I am afraid I will not be able to! I have a feeling I will have to hold it together with superglue and thread! This is a series I have a feeling is going to continue to break is before it puts us back together!

4.5 stars.....I hate cliffhangers but....

I never thought that I could become so invested in a story about 5 teenagers but that's exactly what happened.

Dreams of You is only the first part of what is bound to be an epic tale so don't be disappointed when we're left, precariously, at the edge of a cliff!!!

At 60% I realised, much to my dismay, that it was impossible to have all the threads neatly woven together to create a fully formed picture and that the full picture would need others threads added.

You will be captivated by Carina Adams' words and her portrayal of love and not just the romantic kind.

You will swept away and then cast adrift as we all wait to be rescued by Glimmers of Me. I've got a good old grip of a door to keep me afloat as I wait. Is it July yet?

If I could give this book an infinity of stars, I would. I love Carina’s work but this book…. This one hit my heart with so many feels. I absolutely loved the characters in this one, allll of them. I was so immersed when reading, that I felt like I knew them. Like I was friends with them. It started off in the present, but most of the book was telling the story of their past, so we could understand what’s going on in the present. Dean Cullen had my heart, but so did his friends Shaun and Tate. The way the guys looked after Dean’s sister, Dylan and her BFF Lennon (who lived across the street), made my heart melt because they were amazing and loving. They all had this closeness that you don’t see much and it was beautiful. The kids were all high school teens but they somewhat seemed to have their heads screwed on the right way, even though they still liked to party. Dean was popular and hot and loved acting. Lennon was the “lil sis” who loved to stay home and read vs going to a party, but she loved her friends like they were her family. She always liked Dean but didn’t want to fall for him, as he was her BFF’s older brother. Dean always loved Lennon like she was his family, but he didn’t realize his feelings could change towards her.
I really loved this book to the point I wanted to keep reading as fast as I could, yet I needed it to go by slowly so it never ended. The friendship Dean & Lennon had, melted my heart and I could feel it. I felt the heartache when they were going through problems. I felt the love when they realized they cared for each other more than friends. I honestly had no idea where Carina was taking us with this one. You always know there’s going to be a plot twist, but you have no idea where. I was reading along with a smile on my face but then Carina hit us with a HUGE bombshell that had my jaw dropping to the point that I read it again just to make sure I read it right. And then she hit us with another twist that shredded my heart and had me sobbing. SOBBING! I haven’t done that in quite a while. I’m not totally a fan of bouncing from past to present, especially with so many chapters of the past before getting back to the present, but it worked with this one. I did go back to reread/skim Chapter 1, which was the first present chapter, before I hit the next present chapter (later in the book) so I could refresh my memory (because my memory stinks). I have so many things to say regarding this awesome book, but I don’t want to give any good details away. I read a lot of books and, even though many I have read recently are 5 stars, I haven’t been affected like this in quite a while. If you’re curious, then grab the book and read it. I plan to go order the paperback now and cannot wait for the second book. I need it now! LOL

4 ⭐️'s

The book starts with a bang in the present and just when you think you're going to get some information, it switches waaayyy back to the past. (ugh)

In the past is where we find out how Dean and Lennon met and grew up together. Along with Dean's sister, Dylan, and his best friends, Tate and Shaun.

Dean's been all about acting and when they are in high school, he gets a scholarship to an actor's camp. While he's there, everything goes to hell...literally.

At that point, I was invested so immediately I started the next book hopefully to get some answers.

My goodness! What an intense and emotional start to this series. My heart is all over the place! The plot is filled with characters you fall in love with, twists that leave you gasping, and, likely, heartsick, deep bonds of friendship and burgeoning love and within enough incident to shake a stick at! Carina sets the reader up perfectly, sending you back in time to tell this story of five friends, ensuring that you won't want to miss a word...and leaving you looking into an empty cup and wondering when, and how quickly, she is coming back to fill it up again! Fantastic read! 💖💖💖💖💖

Ugh a cliffhanger. Loved this book and thought it might end this way but I need the next one now. All characters were great. Parents a little nuts at times. Hoping Dean redeems himself as not a fan of current Dean so far.

Let me start by saying I only knew a few small details going into this book and now I’m glad that I went into it that way so my review will be very minimal on details.

This book brought on the feels, this group of friends had an amazing dynamic, it was “like” other groups of friends in books, the lifelong friendships that become family but it also felt like more than that, a deeper connection between this group than I have ever read before.

The relationship and connection they shared was only a sliver of the chemistry between Lennon and Dean, theirs was soul-searing and wholly consuming.

The prologue ensnared me, laced with intrigue and teeming with feels, my heart was invested before I ever really “knew” the characters, and that’s a testament to Carina Adams’ ability as a writer.

I loved the dynamic between Lennon and Dylan, best friends from the time they were born and that showed in their interaction they loved one another like sisters.

On the other side was Dean, Tate, and Shaun, their dynamic was in line with the girls but had a different feel. There was the fact that they were older but it was also that they shared the same inherent need to protect the girls with a fierceness that only someone has towards a girl they love like a sister or a girl that has been imprinted on their soul.

The banter between all of the characters was engaging and witty, whether it was the group of friends or their parents it flowed effortlessly between them and added a sense of realness to the dialogue on the pages.

Every miniscule element that’s woven in the pages of Dean and Lennon’s story had me glued to my kindle, all the twists and turns, the utter heartbreak, and the front row seat to 2 people falling head over heels in love.

Every emotion is so vividly brought to life that you feel them etching into your heart. This is simply an exquisite introduction to the Dreams of You world, and I’m truly in awe of Adams’ ability to bring a unique spin to the best friend's brother/boy next door tropes.

Dreams of You had me entranced from beginning to end, an enthralling blend of soul-searing chemistry, emotions bleed through the pages with vivid clarity making each one feel like your own, wit and sarcasm in every bit of dialogue that adds a level of realness to this fictional world.

I’m really looking forward to seeing what comes next for Dean and Lennon….*whispers* while also hoping Dylan will get her own book in the future.

They have been friends since they were young children, Dean, older by a year and always there to protect her and keep her safe. For so long Lennon has been known as his younger sister's best friend, the girl always two steps behind him and his buddies. And not until now did he see her as anything but that...

Lennon has been in love with her best friend's brother Dean for a long time now, but telling him that fact has always seemed impossible to do. He doesn't see her that way, doesn't feel the same... or does he?

Dreams of You is a beautifully penned love story that will wreck your heart in the best possible way. It's words weaved between past and present, giving you an in depth look at the lives of it's characters and how they all became a tight knit group of friends. But it also shows you the point where two of those friends started to view one another in a different light, and the first stirrings of butterflies to take flight. Lennon and Dean have always been friends, but somewhere along the way Lennon started to fall for Dean, without Dean realizing it. But once he does things start to shift in their group and between them, it's a careful balance that they must maintain to keep everything afloat in the group. Otherwise disaster could hit at any moment..

This story had many emotional highs and lows, and moments that left me wondering how much more my poor heart could take, but it also had moments that gave me hope too. I cannot wait to see where the next installment leads us. Highly recommend this one, it's wonderfully crafted characters will steal your heart!

I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.

It's been so freaking long since I've read a book by this author.
A really long time. But don't see this the bad way.
I have to read any because I've been super busy with other authors that I neglected Carina Adams.
This lady has given me amazing books in the past and just by reading the blurb for this book, I knew that I needed to read it.
Her writing is super appealing and engaging so give her a chance.
Dreams of You is her latest release and it's the first book from the Dream trilogy.
This book explores the lives of Dean and Lennon.
These two know each other for a while now and a friendship had developed.
But here's the thing, Lennon started to have feelings for Dean but he only sees her as his little sister's best friend.
So...
When this book ended, my mind was all over the place.
I was freaking mad because... Hello... A cliffhanger? Seriously?
Great plot, well written, super engaging, and intense.
Once I started to read this book I couldn't stop.
I needed to know more, so I read, and read until... Cliffhanger...
So not fair.
The characters worked perfectly with each other, and their bonds are tight.
I love all the characters, loved their friendship, their complicity.
And it was amazing to get to know them since teens.
Now I'm super mad because I wanted to read more...
Seriously, Carina, I'm so mad.
Please don't take too long to give me the next one... I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

My heart is aching for Lennon! Lennon and her best friend Dylan have been friends since they were toddlers. Dean, Dylan’s older brother and his two best friends consider these girls their little sisters and will do everything to protect them. We follow this group of friends while the girls are sophomores in high school. Lennon and Dean discover their friendship is more than they thought when they start to see each other in a different light.

I love how Dean doesn’t hold back his feelings for Lennon as they explore their new found relationship. I adored Dylan and need her story so bad. Then there’s Tate, who I want for Dylan like crazy. But Shaun completely floored me. We know so little about him but I cried so hard for him.

This author always pulls the rawest emotions from me when I least expect them. I need the next two books now. My heart is still crying and my tears are still pouring out uncontrollably. I can’t tell you what page this group of friends found themselves in my heart but I know they will never leave.

Ever had a book, after you finish reading, you have to take a few days to process said book? Dreams of You by Carina Adams did this to me. It brought back a hard yet simpler time in life. Those high school years where dreams and crushes were made and broken. Lennon and Dean’s forbidden love story through me into their world. I felt as though I was living on that street and I was feeling their joys and pains. To me that’s what a great book does to the reader, creates an escape and puts you in the middle. Dreams of You is a story of friendship, first loves, forbidden loves, heartache, sadness, and a cliffhanger that has you shocked. I usually do not like cliffhangers, but I can see why one was needed. There is so much more to this main couple and the backstories to go along. I know we will get the answers, so I find this cliffhanger justifiable.

The author was new to me but the content of the story read like my favorite books, so I was in. At
first I was irritated but then I understood and quickly got into the story. Carina Adams gave me a
book I didn't know I needed. We see the beginning of a young love affair between two teenagers
who have known each other their whole lives and have only ever been friends. Or at least didn't
want to admit to each other anymore. Lennon is a rather introverted but not shy girl who loves
reading more than normal teenage stuff. Still, guys are starting to notice her. This puts Dean on the
map. Does he have to or should he now slowly do something. He is the epitome of the golden boy.
Everyone knows him, likes him and is friends with him. Both are gradually getting closer, but there
are some obstacles and people in their way to each other and with each other. And then, it begins,
becomes exciting and the cliffhanger comes. Book 1 end. Well, what can I say, I can hardly wait for
the second part. Because with the short intro and the equally short outtro can be guessed, there is
still a lot to come. I am EXCITED.

Let me start by saying I've been reading Carina Adams books for a few years now and have never been disappointed so I was excited for this book.

Lennon James was Dean Cullens' sisters best friend since they were toddlers. The kid he always swore to protect and loved to hand out with. He never saw her as anything else until he realized len wasn't a little kid anymore but a beautiful young woman. When their relationship changes, will their whole group dynamic change or will their tight knit group become even more like family?

This book was a roller-coaster ride like you wouldn't believe. I've laughed, I've cried and cursed the author. And I absolutely, 💯 % can't wait for the next book I'm this series

Dreams of You is a heartwarming tale of friendship and growing up and first loves. This group of characters have been friends basically their whole lives. Lennon and Dylan are best friends. Dean is Dylan's big brother and he and his two friends Shaun and Tate look out for the girls, though now that they are older, the relationships between them all seem to be changing.

This book pulled me in from the start. I loved the relationships all the friends had with each other, whether there was teasing and back and forth banter or straight up flirting. I adored reading as Lennon and Dean navigated their feelings as they went from friends to so very much more, and watching Dean's protective and jealous side come out was definitely something to see.

This story alternates between the past and the present, offering glimpses into differing points of time. It was extremely well written and the characters and story line kept me invested from beginning to end. It does end on a bit of a heartbreaking cliffhanger, but I have no doubt the author will heal my heart before all is said and done. I have read several of her previous books and jumped at the opportunity to read this and I am so happy I did.

If you are a fan of Carina Adams as I am, you know it's been a few years since she has released a new book and this was absolutely worth the wait. As I was reading I came to the realization that there weren't enough pages for the book to wrap up and I didn't know a cliffhanger was coming and OMG what a cliffy it is. This book was an emotional journey in the lives of five friends and their very close families. It was funny, wonderful, sad, hopeful and awful all rolled into the amazing words of this author. I cannot wait to see how this story plays out. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book for my honest review.

Cliff hanger***

Dreams of you follows the story of Dean and Lennon. Growing up across the street they have always been close with each other and their group of friends.

It's hard not to give too much away of the story while writing this review.
Great characters. I felt like I was in their own little world while reading this story. I can't wait to hear more from Dylan and Tate and i'm hoping that Dean shows some redemption in the next book.

Dreams of You is THE book I needed in my life. A story that I'll probably keep thinking about years from now, one of those that I'll always remember how they made me feel. Because the books that make me feel, even when making me cry my eyes out, always become favorites.

I'm incredibly grateful and happy that Carina decided to write Dean and Lennon's epic story. It needed to be told because is raw, honest and heartfelt. It consumed me, and this is something that doesn't happen very often, especially when the characters are in their teenage years. And yet, I felt connected with them. In fact, I felt every word and every moment of this first part of this journey.

While I'm probably not making much sense, trust me when I say you need to read Dreams of You. Go in blind. You will not regret it, even if there is a cliffhanger. Carina storytelling and character development are phenomenal. So read it and fall in love with Dean and Lennon. Just read and feel. Oh, and if you need to talk or discuss it, I'm here.

Dreams of You is book one in the The Dreams Trilogy by Carina Adams and all I’m going to say is this is one special read. This is Lennon (Len) and Dean’s emotional roller coaster, it will draw you in from the first chapter and it won’t let you go until the final word has been read but even than you won’t be walking away because their journey ends on one heck of a cliffhanger so you have been warned.
Dean and Len have been friends for years and despite him being the arrogant man intent on going places their bond is deep. So will their friendship survive them falling in love or will love tear them apart…..
I believe this book needs to be read with no preconceived ideas, you need to read it first hand so I’m not going to write a review full of spoilers, what I will say is this is one special read with characters you will bond with as they go through real life’s ups and downs, real life’s twists and turns. The chemistry Len and Dean share is scorching hot and I for one can’t wait to see where Ms Adams takes us in book two.

Dreams of You grabbed my attention from page one and would not let go. I did not want to stop reading. I had a major book hangover afterwards.

I adored Lennon, Dean, Shaun, Tate, and Dylan! I loved their friendship. I have to admit that it was so refreshing to read a book where the siblings (Dean and Dylan) got along and liked each other’s friends. They actually wanted to spend time together.

I do not know how to describe this book without giving everything away. All I can say is you will not be disappointed. Try the sample of Dreams of You and go on a beautiful discovery.

Dreams of You takes you on an emotional roller coaster, I laughed, cried, and everything in between. Carina told a beautiful story and I am dying of anticipation for book 2!!
