Have you heard the one about the workaholic who decides she deserves a night of fun with a sexy stranger? It’s supposed to be a short story. Except one night of fun changes everything.
Owning and operating a bed and breakfast doesn’t leave me much time for men. Especially not men who aren’t from Winter Falls. Out-of-towners can’t be trusted. Trust me. I have the scars to prove it.
Then Cole Hawkins saunters into the Inn on Main. One look at him and I light my rulebook about men and out-of-towners on fire before hurling it out the window.
After Cole leaves town unexpectedly, I’m hell-bent on forgetting him and his adorable dimple until I discover our one night of passion has lasting consequences of the baby variety.
When Cole returns to Winter Falls and discovers I’m pregnant, he starts pushing for us to become a couple. Not so fast. Just because he’s the father of my baby doesn’t mean he’s suddenly trustworthy.
Can Cole convince me to give him a chance at forever or will our encounter always remain Just For Tonight?
This small town romantic comedy features a woman who defines the word stubborn, a man who’s not giving up on her and their baby not matter how stubborn she is, a not planned but most welcome pregnancy, a gaggle of sisters who want to try their hands at matchmaking, and a whole town full of hippies who think being called a busybody is a compliment.
Just For Forever is a standalone novel in the Winter Falls series.
D.E. Haggerty is actually just plain old Dena, but she thinks using initials makes her sound like one of the cool kids. She was born and raised in the U.S. but has spent the majority of her adult life abroad living in cool-sounding places like Istanbul, Heidelberg, and The Hague. She has job hopped from military policewoman to lawyer to B&B owner. She finally jumped off the job hopping bandwagon a few years ago when she decided to turn her addiction to romance novels into a career. If anyone has ideas on how to turn a love of wine into a job, she's all ears.
It's time for Ellery's story! She got knocked up when a prophylactic failed during her one-night stand with Cole, a visiting architect. However, they are both bowled over with each other but it takes quite some time for them both to figure it out or at least admit it to themselves and one another.
The first seven chapters are a flashback to Aspen's story (book one) and how Ellery met Cole and how she ended up pregnant which we discovered at the end of book two. I had to smile when Cole assumed that she was the maid for the inn and not the owner. He was a bit of a chauvinist but it came back to get him when he discovered the truth. I had to chuckle at Ellery's naivety that she thought she could keep her pregnancy a secret from the town of Winter Falls. She should know better.
Ellery has some baggage from a college relationship gone south and that impacts how she looks at Cole. It takes a lot for him to work through her demons so that they can end up with a HEA.
The characters always make me laugh and this town is just nuts. But I love it all the same.
We give this book 5 paws up and look forward to Juniper and Maverick's story and then we will get to see Lilac's story which intrigues me the most because she is so different from her sisters.
It's release day! I'm so excited to share this book with you. Ellery's a little bit more than stubborn and Cole's a whole lotta determined. Together, sparks fly!
“Did the owner explain to you what kind of candle this is?” I ask Cole. “There are different types of candles?” “Petal’s candles aren’t ‘normal’ candles.” I stop there. Do I tell him what kind of candle he bought? “I’m officially intrigued. You need to explain.” “It’s a sex candle,” I blurt out and feel my face heat. He doesn’t blink as he stares at me. “A sex candle? Like to get you in the mood?” I giggle. “Um, no. This particular candle is a wax play candle. Please don’t ask me how I know. The story is not appropriate for a first date.” Shit. I said date. Is this a date? Do I want it to be? Cole doesn’t notice my faux pas. “As in dripping candle wax?” “Exactly. Petal also has massage candles. They’re filled with essential oils and have aphrodisiac properties.” “She could be my grandmother,” he whispers. “Yep. And, if you let her, she’ll talk your ear off about her sex life with her husband.” He gulps. “I think I’ll avoid her shop from now on.”
The more I read, the more I love D. E. Haggerty’s series. This one especially! Rom-coms with laughs and steam and crazy but lovable, loyal characters. Ellery is the most down-to-earth sister, hard-working and committed to Winter Falls after having built up the Inn on Main b&b pretty much on her own. Cole, as an “out of towner” is both attractive because he’s a novelty but also suspect because he’s an outsider. Cole is so sweet in his careful but persistent pursuit of Ellery. She has reasons for her insecurities but her stubbornness is almost off the charts. Still, I had to admire his thoughtfulness and generally solid planning as he works his way into her life and heart. Loved the book. Finished it the same day I got it and can’t wait for Juniper’s story!

This series just keeps getting better and better. This author’s writing style is amazing- a unique sense of humor with a gift for storytelling. Once you start reading, you get drawn into the quirky little town that serves as a backdrop for these fun romantic comedies/contemporary romances. I highly recommend!

I would like to preface this review by saying I did not read the previous books in the series. This is the first book I've read. It is not necessary to read the previous books as you know who they'll end up with. It just might spoil some minor details like saying Aspen (the FMC's sister) wouldn't forgive the Chief of Police, Lyric (her childhood sweetheart) of something. But it doesn't say what it is, you do have to read the first book for that. I would also like to say, this review isn't mean to be mean or offensive, I am just venting and offering some insight and alternatives for things I didn't quite like. It's really for me to vent and look back on.
This book was difficult to read and had a few things I had issues with. The first thing was the writing style, while I don't typically care much for it, it detracted me from fully being able to immerse myself in this book. It was very much telling and not showing. The writing felt kind of immature? In the sense of, it felt as though maybe this is one of the author's first books. I guess it was just hard to really enjoy the book. There are also a few typos, which isn't the end of the world, but I'm just the type of person that just can't help but notice. I don't mind these two things though, and I can push past them if I enjoy the characters as well as the development of the plot. But, I can look past only now of those at a time. Good book with a great plot and characters but with lackluster writing? That's fine. An alright book with great writing that barely manages to occasionally pique my interest? That's fine too. But I can't overlook both negative traits. And this book was not the best at both the writing and the plot.
The beginning was alright. I like the trope and I overlooked the writing style. I guess my first clue that I wouldn't enjoy this book was when the FMC, Ellery, got her feelings hurt because the MMC said the town is odd, which it is. It's very odd and she knows it. He's an out-of-towner, of course he's not used to such a bizarre place. You don't have to be offended. Then he's concerned she might get drunk and possibly have a hangover, and she immediately gets defensive, calls it a red flag, and thinks he's trying to tell her how much she can drink. Girl, he knows you work tomorrow. You're the owner of the inn and you're practically its only employee. The thing is, this is a recurring theme throughout the book. Cole says something, Ellery takes it out of context and/or makes a big deal out of it, Cole backtracks, Ellery throws a fit, and Cole is left to apologize.
And let's not forget to talk about the MMC, Cole. At first he seems douchey and small-minded. He also doesn't let her speak and is kind of sexist? He thinks she's a cleaning lady and not the owner who he thinks is a man. He does own up to it and apologizes for that. But, when they're about to have sex, he gets a condom and thinks "it might be expired," (not a literally quote. This is the literal quote "I have no idea how long it's [the condom] been in my wallet, but I can't be bothered with expiration dates at the moment.") and he still goes through with using it [the condom]. I feel like if he had the thought, he should have brought it up and discussed the possibility that it might be expired. That it has a higher chance of leading to pregnancy. He could give her the option to talk about whether or not she wants to go through with having sex. I think it might have been best, from a writer's perspective, if he just didn't think about the condom possibly being expired. Because. now, he seems negligent, and uncaring of the consequences, and also not quite immature but dumb? He's a thirty-four-year-old man, sex is never just sex and should not be taken lightly, he should know that.
Oh and the book is very much lust at first sight. Which I knew was a likely given this is an accidental pregnancy book but I expected it to be dragged out throughout quite a few chapters. It just felt unrealistic? The thoughts she was having. I guess more in the way she was thinking them? It felt as though I was reading the mind of an adolescent, not a person who is supposed to be around thirty-one. Cole checked in and met Ellery, went to a meeting the next day, apologized for his behaviour, went over for dinner that very night, and had sex with her. He leaves the day after and doesn't come back for months. Cole is a guest at her inn, I thought she'd have had more reservations about mixing her work life and her private life. Maybe cave towards the end of Cole's stay (he planned to stay two weeks). But, this wasn't a big deal and I overlooked it. Later it became another thing that annoyed me about this book.
I also overlooked how utterly insane this town is. The part about it being eco-friendly is nice. It's just the lack of personal boundaries and the mentally troubled townspeople that are the issue. They all stick their noses in each other's business. It's to be expected in a small town but this was a little much. Mayors are not elected, but drawn out of a hat. No cars in town, bikes and golf carts are free to use. The people are crazy and sometimes made me feel as though something I'd imagine in a fever dream. I also disliked how Ellery's family, specifically her sisters, wouldn't let her process things alone, or have privacy, or secrets. I understand they're sisters and they're close, but I'd like to hope that should time alone ever be needed, it would be granted. Yes, Ellery is pregnant. Yes, she's known for weeks. But that is her business and she should be able to tell people whenever she wants. If she wants to tell you the story of how she got pregnant, that is up to her. If she wants to sleep because she has to wake up at five in the morning, let her. She's five months along, you can wait until tomorrow to hear all the tea. They also barge into her house whenever they want. Show up in the middle of the night to dig around in her property. Despite the fact that she has explicitly told you not to. Also, we never find out what was in the box the bandit had buried in her land. If she doesn't want to go to the book club and wants to mope for a bit and is even willing to not go to work, which is big for her, then let her! I really don't understand why the sisters felt so betrayed she hadn't yet told them she was pregnant. I understand maybe being upset and thinking you might not have been viewed as someone she could confide in, but it's not about you. It's about her.
My biggest issue was none of these things. Really, I could have overlooked them and given the book three stars. But when the FMC is the biggest issue, it's hard to enjoy a book. Ellery was immature, not good at communicating, easily offended, dramatic, slightly manipulative, a workaholic (not necessarily a bad thing but it just didn't help), and extremely stubborn. But not stubborn in an endearing way, stubborn in an I really want to strangle you kind of way. It was hard to believe Ellery was in her early thirties by the way she was behaving. Cole, poor Cole, was willing to try to make things work between them. He always tried to communicate with her in order to come to a resolution but she was just unwilling to really listen to what he was saying. She got offended over so many things and would yell, shift the blame on to him, and basically throw a tantrum. She never tried to talk it out like adults. She would avoid talking to him or seeing him, like a child. He was always transparent with her about everything. Wanting to be in a relationship, wanting to be a father who is present, wanting to form a family with her. She would just overreact about everything and make Cole feel as though he was wrong and should apologize. It just seemed manipulative, I don't know if it was her intention, but she, and her family, felt like she could do no wrong. The only "wrong" thing she did was not be with Cole because of her "trauma" from a relationship almost a decade prior (nine years). And so her family tried to play matchmaker, but that was it. They were onto her about pushing Cole away.
Examples:
- Ellery asks Cole if he removed the condom during sex. He says no, apologizes, and takes the blame saying "I didn't check the expiration date. I should have. I was a bit preoccupied." Do you know what she responds with? "Don't you dare blame me." Girl when did he blame you? You know pregnancy is a risk when having sex. You don't want an IUD or to take birth control pills? That's okay. It's your choice. But at least have the intelligence to have up-to-date condoms of good quality that you trust. Don't put yourself at risk by not being prepared. He is a man. He can just leave after. But you, you have pregnancy as a potential risk, he doesn't. If you don't have condoms on hand, fine, but at least question him about his or show a little more concern before having sex with a guy you just met the day prior.
- Then, when he finds out she's pregnant he says "You're pregnant. Is it mine?" Which, you know is a valid question. she could have slept with someone three months after Cole or a month before and the timeline would fit. They don't know each other so it's not a crazy question. But, she immediately takes it the wrong way and says "How dare you ask if it's yours? So you think I'm some kind of slut who sleeps with all her guests?" Umm. He never said that. I think that's just you projecting, but okay.
- Or when he says he wants a girl with her eyes and nose and she replies, "my nose? What's wrong with my nose?" Umm, nothing? If he wants his child to have a similar one, he obviously likes it.
- He suggests she rest a bit more since she's juggling a lot being five months pregnant and running an inn by herself. She also had a late night and is up very early. She doesn't need to be up that early. She hired someone to take care of breakfast, she doesn't have to micromanage everything. But she responds with "Don't you start. It's my business and I'll operate it the way I want to." He's worried about you because you're carrying his child. You're stressed and overworked. And, you're not getting enough rest so shut up and go back to bed. Then she goes off on him for not being there during the first part of her pregnancy and not knowing anything about it. Girl he would have known what you went through if you had told him. He would have helped you if you had told him.
- He takes her shopping and is planning on paying for everything (who could say no to that?). He is with her in the changing room, which she didn't invite him in, sure. But he's trying to be kind and helpful. Telling you they look great and asking you how YOU like them and how YOU feel in them. But you get angry that he's trying to be supportive and make conversation? That he's trying to be a part of your journey, a part of your life.
- He comes to her to talk a walk and bit of a break from work. Maybe stand guard while she naps so it won't be interrupted by people needing things from her. And guess what? She gets angry because she's a workaholic and thinks it's okay to put in that many hours and all that work while pregnant. There needs to be a balance between life and work. More so when you're pregnant. You also have to accept you don't have the same energy, or capacity you did before pregnancy. Everyone is different but she just won't admit that work is taking its toll. She has literally complained multiple times that people keep asking her where the coffee filters are and she's annoyed by this. Or other little things her job entails. If I were her, I would appreciate a little break where I can rest a bit so that I can work with a greater capacity and more efficiency.
- She tells him she doesn't plan on leaving her small town. He leaves to rethink his plans. She gets upset and hurt, thinking they're over. But she isn't listening to what he's saying or seeing all that he's doing. He thinks and literally is going to quit his job to prove he loves her and wants to be with her. He goes to see her and she acts like the victim. I understand she thought he left but she doesn't even try to hear him out and yells and says things like, "now you want me to listen?" Girl we've all been wanting you to listen.
- He gets a job offer from his dream company. Doesn't want to go because he wants to be Ellery and his child. Then she tells him leave and to go to New York and work for this company. She won't listen to him so he leaves. He tries to find a way to prove his love. She gets upset because he actually left even though she told him to. Is upset he didn't make breakfast the next day or try to talk to her about it. As if she's not known for trying to avoid talking about things, like living arrangements. She tells her sisters and says it's her fault he left. But not because she practically forced him out the door, overlooks his gestures, brushes over his words, or because she doesn't take his kindness seriously. She says it's because she fell for an out-of-towner. So obviously her sisters are on her side and don't think she's at fault when she clearly is. And, the dad tells Cole that the approves of them marrying. He just needs to convince his daughter to forgive him. Forgive him for what? He did nothing wrong! Except for at the beginning with the whole cleaning lady thing and assuming the inn owner is a man. And when she thinks he left, she's upset he didn't write to her. Girl neither did you? This whole time it's been him forgiving, him taking the first step, him pursuing you, him proving himself to you. You have done nothing! Nothing but play the victim.
As for the ending, it was HEA, but it ended sort of at a cliffhanger? I feel like it should have had an epilogue where some important things could be answered without having to read the next book. Ellery decides not to find out the gender until birth. We don't get to see her give birth in this book. Or perhaps read about them finding out the gender. Or maybe a few months or years after where we can see the child a little older and we, the readers, find out that way. Instead we get a chapter in Juniper's POV which could have been a little preview into the next book. Have it be after the book is over, not the last chapter of the book.
Anyway, needless to say, I did not enjoy this book. It had potential, the idea was there but not the execution. The characters barely knew each other and we barely knew them. DO NOT REREAD THIS BOOK, KAREN! I don't think you will -err I guess I mean to say I don't think future me will, because of the one star. But just in case, I'm stating it here. Hopefully the next book you read is enjoyable!

What a fun story to read! The quirky small town Winter Falls where pet squirrels, a friendly butt pinch and the fastest busybody gossip group of older folks just kept me smiling. For a small close-knit community where resident names felt like a throwback to a hippie commune, it was a wonderful snapshot into two true small-town life. Cole and Ellery were fun characters to watch. Between their ups and downs and the very interesting banter between all of the West family, I couldn’t help but laugh. Phrases like “you can’t catch me I’m the gingerbread woman!” is not very common in every day conversation. 😂. Randy parents, sex crazed older ladies and very quirky personalities of so many characters – including dogs Bark Twain and Indiana Bones - meant that there was never a dull moment.

There is one cardinal rule that all small town folks follow and that is don’t ever fall for the out of towner, no matter how charming he looks with his cheeky dimple smile and smooth words. And for the most part Inn on The Main owner Ellery has followed this rule down to the letter…that is until architect Cole Hawkins rolls into town and has her throwing all of her rules out of the window. All it takes is one night of steamy passion to change Ellery’s life forever but when Cole ups and leaves unexpectedly, leaving Ellery hell bent on keeping Cole firmly out of her heart and life. But when Cole returns to Winter Falls and learns that Ellery is pregnant with his baby he is determined to not only win her back but also be the best father possible to their baby… the question now is can Cole convince Ellery to give him forever or are they destined to just be for one night?
..
Loved!! I loved this book big time! I mean who doesn’t just love the accidental pregnancy trope throw in the fact that it is set in a small town and you had me hooked! Well really you had me from the mention of Winter Falls, I really just love this quirky small town and all those wacky residents. I have totally fall in love with the West from, these gals are just the most wholesome, loveable bunchy that you will ever find. I love how involved they each get in each others lives.
..
Ellery was such a great character, I loved her passion and dedication to building the Inn into the success that it has become. She is focused, determined and a complete hard worker so much so that her life revolves around the Inn. This only makes her meeting Cole all the more delicious, I loved their initial mistaken identity bit and how their passion just snowballed as they interacted. Talk about undeniable chemistry right there. I have to say that I liked getting to see Ellery stick by her guns and make Cole work to have a spot back in her life.
..
As for our charming dimple wielding hero Cole, he is only in town to secure a big contract for his company until he meets Ellery and things change, gosh these two were just the cutest together. I loved getting to see Cole come back and work to win her back and prove that he is exactly the type of guy that Ellery needs.
..
I just loved the meddlesome and gossipy towns people, not only were they hilarious but I just loved their quirky names! Just For Forever is a definite must read, I can not wait to go back to Winter Falls and see the last two West sisters find their happily ever after!
I am loving D.E.Haggerty's "Winter Falls" series, they are all standalone but I would urge reading the series in sequence to get to know all the zany characters in this unique, crazy but wonderful town.
Mr sexy voice with the cute dimple is staying at my inn, the only problem is that he thinks that i'm the cleaner.
Ellery Promise West is running "The Inn on the Main" practically single handed, she has a single minded work ethic but she loves the inn.
Architect Cole Hawkins was staying at the inn, he was in town hoping to secure a prestigious contract for the company that he worked for, his embarrassment was immense, he had mistaken the owner for the cleaner.
Winter Falls had been founded by a group of hippies many years ago, it was completely carbon neutral, no cars allowed and only organic food sold and served, but all the residents loved their town.
Things moved quickly for Ellery and Cole but after a steamy one night stand there were disastrous consequences, the attraction between them was magnetic but ultra stubborn Ellie had been burned before and Cole would go back to his city life when his contract was finished.
This story follows the hilarious antics of the residents of Winter Falls, the wonderful West family, sisters Ellery Promise, Aspen Cloud, Lilac Bean, Juniper Berry, Ashlyn Dream and the wondaful mother handing out advice on the use of prophylactics to anyone who will listen, the nosy gossip team Petal, Feather, Sage, Cayenne and Clove who know everything and whose interfering has delightful results, but mainly the blossoming love between Ellery and Cole, the barrier that she puts up only for him to knock down.
I really enjoyed this book and I now look forward to reading Juniper's story.
I received a free copy of this book and my review is voluntary.
I like this series. The five West sisters are all in the process of finding their forever loves. Aspen and Ashlyn stories were told in the previous two books. This time it was Ellery’s turn. The only problem is, she was virtually dragged kicking and screaming to her HEA with Cole.
Ellery’s feelings were burned by a thoughtless boyfriend in college and now she trusts no man with her heart. Unfortunately, she becomes pregnant with Cole’s baby in what she thought was a one night stand. It took Cole 95% of the story to convince Ellery that he was there to stay forever.
Ellery’s behavior towards Cole was atrocious. She was constantly angry at him and behaved like a rude, selfish woman-child way too often. I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt and blame the pregnancy hormones. In contrast, Cole was always patient and loving towards Ellery. Ellery was such a tough nut to crack that, once again, the town pitched in and helped Cole get his girl.
This story was a bit exhausting to get through. I did like their HEA. There are two sisters left. Juniper’s story is next and my favorite sister, Lilac, gets her story last.

Outsmarting stubborn Just For Forever: a surprise pregnancy small town romantic comedy (Winter Falls Book 3) by D.E. Haggerty is a sweet romcom with plenty of heat generated by Cole and Ellery. As I was transported back to Winter Falls for this third book in the series (totally standalone, but read the whole series for maximum laughs and love) I was treated to plenty of comedy as the West family as well as all townsfolk in Winter Falls show their love with teasing and the ultimate failure to keep a secret (mostly). Cole and Ellery’s story is no exception and Ellery’s stubbornness made for great fodder. Her resistance to Cole was futile as Cole pulled out all the stops in showing her exactly how dependable he is. The surprise baby is an absolute awesome addition to this love story as it gives Ellery a glimpse of just how committed Cole is. Gah! The man’s doting of Ellery and her baby bump is just swoon-worthy. Overall, this romcom is full of heartwarming moments followed up with plenty of steam. Cole is just about as perfect as a romcom hero can be to convince the once burned independent heroine to trust him and his love. I read an ARC of this book and voluntarily share my review.
Winter Falls is not just a town full of quirky people but there's also the West family with their five daughters and their love interests. Just For Forever is the love story of Ellery West and out of towner, Cole Hawkins. Out of towners, especially men, aren't trustworthy.
Ellery is the stubborn, second oldest sister, who owns and operates the Inn on Main. They shared a one night stand which led to a surprise, though not unwelcome pregnancy. When Cole returns to town and discovers Ellery is pregnant with his baby, he is determined to make a life with her and their baby no matter how stubborn she is. There's Ellery's mother and sisters who want to try their hands at matchmaking. Then there's a whole town "full of hippies who think being called a busybody is a compliment".
Her family's reaction to her pregnancy and his return is one of the craziest romantic comedy that I've ever read. The town members are seemingly overly interested in the sex lives of everyone. Then you have the story of the other sisters, their careers and their love lives. I found the townspeople, the West family and the sisters just too preposterous to even consider reading the other books in this series.
Don't fall for an out of towner. Easy to think, but difficult in practice.
Ellery, the second West sister, runs a B&B in Winter Falls and doesn't get involved with out of towners or men not living in Winter Falls so when she runs into a guest Cole, she can't help but throw all of her rules out the window. When Cole abruptly leaves town, she decides to leave their encounter as a one night stand. Only she gets an unexpected surprise a few weeks later and when Cole returns, Ellery tries to navigate what to do since she's popping out his kid in a few months.
This book was great, but it didn't hit the mark for me as much. I'm not a fan of surprise pregnancy books so I walked in not as interested, but I still enjoyed reading about all the characters and Cole was really sweet with Ellery. Cole shows and doesn't tell Ellery how much he cares for her.
I seriously can't wait for the next book because I've fallen in love with all the characters and am so curious about what happens with Juniper.
I receive an ARC via BookSirens for an honest review.
I was very excited to read this book. Winter Fall’s has been my favorite fictional town since the first book. It’s such a unique town with characters full of personality. Each book in the series has brought more life throughout the town, since we are reading it in different POVs.
Ellery is the second oldest West sister who owns and runs the town’s inn. She’s very much into her work and is not one to get distracted by much.
Cole is an architect staying at Ellery’s inn, hoping to win the bid for Winter Fall’s community center. Things get very steamy between the two and with that, their past starts to creep up on them, making it difficult for both of them to move forward.
It was definitely a page turner. I found it entertaining when reading Cole’s POV because he’s an “outsider” of Winter Fall’s and he sees and describes things a little differently than the characters from there.
Though this book is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone.
I received an ARC and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
I am enjoying this series about a family and town that is based on the Hippie era. No subject or secret is kept, and the town supports its community. Ellery owns and runs a bed and breakfast and is a workaholic to run her business successfully. Cole Hawkins is an architect who has come to town to win a contract for his company. Even though Ellery thinks he is the best thing since sliced bread, she has no interest in out of towners. Years ago, she was in a long-distance relationship when she arrived in his town and surprised him with a visit to find he had a live-in girlfriend. This broke her heart as well as her trust. While thinking is there a possibility she might have a second chance at love, she spends a fantastic night with Cole to find he has to leave unexpectedly and of course she jumps to the wrong conclusions even though he said he would be back. When she finds that a surprise baby resulted from that fantastic night, will she give him a chance to prove himself. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
4.5 Stars This is the third book in this awesome series. I was so excited to dive into this one with bombshell we were left with in the last book. I really loved Ellery and Cole. Cole is going to steal your heart and make you swoon big time. There is no way this man won't make you fall in love with him. A one night stand turns into way more than Ellery ever thought. Ellery is the more leveled headed workaholic sister, but when she decides to have a little fun with an out of towner things get very interesting. I love the humor in this series and this book delivered on what I was looking forward to. I just love this town and it's people. They have a ton of heart, but their busybody ways make for so very funny moments. With every book the West family keeps pulling me in. Trust me you need this book and series in your life. This book gave me a beautiful escape into a small town that I would love to visit with some quirky, but lovable characters. You must read this one!! I'm already chomping at the bit for the next book!
Really enjoying getting to know the residents of Winter Falls! Ellery has a one night stand with a guest at her bed and breakfast. Cole was In Town briefly to present his architecture firms bid on a project in town, and even though he assures Ellery that he is interested in Pursuing a relationship with her, his being called back home early by his firm only leaves her convinced nothing can ever be between them and proceeds to ignore his calls and messages for months, until he returns for the announcement of who won the bid for the towns community center project. When he finds out she is pregnant with his child he is determined to be there for everything, but there doesn’t seem to be anything he can say or do to convince Ellery he’s on board. Ellery vehemently pushing him away gets a little tiresome, but Cole is a trouper and steadfastly refuses to be deterred. Plus Ellery’s sisters, parents and nosy gossipy community provide lots of entertainment so it’s still a great read!
Another fun story in the winter falls series has come to an end! The focus on this one is sister Ellery West who runs the inn on Main Street! Ellery broke all her rules when she had a one night stand with a guest. Cole was a six foot tall drink of water she couldn’t resist though!
Cole was the architect bidding on the new community center and plans to be in town for two years and wants to see more of Ellery but for her this was one and done.
There’s only one problem. It only takes one night to get pregnant!
Cole is determined to make things work but Ellery is a stubborn west sister and isn’t having it.
This story much like the others in the winter falls contains a lot of interaction with the west sisters and family as well as the quirky towns folk!
At times with so much dialogue between so many characters it can be hard to follow but the one liners are funny and it’s worth the extra focus to keep all of the side characters straight.
Another Winter Falls Winner - Heartwarming, Zany, Steamy and Laugh-Out-Loud!
This is the third of the Winter Falls series, and can be read as a standalone, but the books are much more fun and a bit easier to follow because of all of the towns' quirky characters and rules of you do read them in order (also easy to do if you have KU from Amazon). Ellery is the third of the five sisters to get her story and of course she doesn't get it without a lot of help (which she needs to overcome her stubbornness ) from her family, friends and the entire town filled with matchmakers who want to see her, Cole and their unborn baby get their HEA. Hilarity ensues from all of the schemes - between the antics, set-ups, text conversations, dialog and even the quotes that start each chapter I was laughing out loud. I couldn't put this book down and read it it one sitting and now I can't wait for Juniper's story. Enjoy!
This is another installment of the wonderful Winter Falls and West sisters’ series. The story essentially is a continuation of Ashlyn’s book (“Forever for You”) with some overlap. This time we get to read Ellery’s story, the sister who owns the B&B in Winter Falls. It definitely helps to have read the prior books to be able to jump fully into the frantic humor and quirky craziness of the West family and Winter Falls. Cole is an architect who visits Winter Falls to bid on its new community center. Strong sparks fly between Cole and Ellery. Ellery finds herself pregnant by Cole after what she believes was just a brief encounter with someone who doesn’t have a long-term future in Winter Falls. Both Ellery and Cole have to address their pasts as they find their way to a HEA. Their story is very romantic. I am really enjoying this series and can happily recommend this book. I received an advance copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
As owner of the Inn on Main, Ellery West has a rule. Out-of-towners are not to be used as sex objects. The rule has served her well. At least it did, until Cole Hawkins came to town to bid on a community project. And that’s when Ellery let her guard down. A month later, she is alone and pregnant. Unsure what to do, Ellery says nothing. Except the entire town already knows she is pregnant, and Cole is the baby daddy.
Winter Falls is not an ordinary town. They have rules and regulations about everything. Everybody knows everybody. Nobody is shy. Everyone is ready and willing to have a say in any issue. Even if it is none of their business.
It’s a laugh a minute. Cole doesn’t stand a chance and neither does Ellery. Grab a copy and allow D.E. Haggerty to fill the evening with laughter.
I received this book as an advance review copy free from Book Sirens. I have read and reviewed this book voluntarily. --Brenda, JustViews
I had a great time watching Ellery dance around Cole for the biggest part of this story. Her past, failed relationship left her reluctant to chance her heart. She was happy to bed Cole in a one night fling, but when he won the community center construction project, the two year construction timeline was too great a risk of her emotions. Too bad he will be a part of her life for the next two decades. Cole absolutely refuses to walk away.
The chapter headers in this book were particularly pithy and amusing. I eagerly turned the pages, not only for the story itself, but to read the next chapter header. I also loved the old biddies getting their monogrammed shirts with their new moniker -- the Gossip Gals. Ever so apropos for those senior citizen hippies.
I received a copy of this story as part of an ARC boxset from BookSirens and voluntarily chose to share my review.
Cole and Ellery's story is the next stroke of genius in this phenomenal series. It literally explodes with sparks because of their instant attraction. It's just as funny and hilarious as the previous books in the series, with the ever meddling citizens of Winter Falls. However, the two protagonists drove me nuts with their back and forth and almost gave me whiplash with their interactions. I loved how Cole stood up for his love and how he proved time and time again that he was the right partner for Ellery. I also loved what a strong and independent character Ellery is, she's really inspiring. Plus, she made me laugh out loud time and time again with her grumbling, grousing and evasive tactics. I devoured the book from the first page to the last, and once again I find it hard to let go of these great characters.
This book was cute, even with the frustrations of some of the things the characters do. It's a journey for these two to get to their HEA, but once they do, it's at least a satisfying ending. Some of the phrasing in this one bugged me. I didn't know that the phrase "sipped from my lips" was something that could bother me until this book. 🤣 It sounds like he's trying to drink her saliva, which made me cringe every time the phrase was used. And that particular kissing scene where she mentions how he tastes like the food he just ate? Yuck. 😬
The narrators are what saved this one for me. They did a great job bringing these characters to life and since they continued going even at the bits I was cringing, it made me keep progressing when I probably would have just stopped if it was a physical or ebook.
Welcome back to Winter Falls. The town’s still crazy, the West sisters are still nosey, and this time it’s Ellery’s turn to be in the romantic firing line. She’s been burned before and that makes her distrustful of out-of-towners, but in Cole she finds a man determined to do the right thing by her. At first he comes across as the type of person she’s trying to avoid, but definitely proves himself. His interactions with his new ‘family’, especially Rowan and Lyric who have been there and done that, are very amusing. This is a great addition to the Winter Falls series, which seems to be going from strength to strength.

Ellery West owns The Inn on Main in Winter Falls, the world's only carbon-neutral town. Cole Hawkins comes to town to bid on building the town's new community center. He mistakes Ellery for a maid, and sparks fly immediately, but not always the romantic kind.
They have one night together, and despite using protection, Ellery realizes she is pregnant. Meanwhile, Cole has returned home to Chicago, waiting to hear if his bid was selected. He texts and calls her, but she ignores him until he arrives back in town and she can't ignore him anymore. When he discovers she's pregnant, he immediately steps up and begins helping her.
I love that Cole and Ellery get their happily ever after, and I can't wait to find out the sex of the baby (hopefully) in Juniper's upcoming story!! I've read the Winter Falls series, but these stories can all be read and enjoyed as standalone stories. Looking forward to what DE Haggerty has up her sleeve next!

Ellery West owns and operates the bed and breakfast in Winter Falls. Ellery doesn’t trust out-of-town men, but is attracted to Cole Hawkins. She has no time for romance but ends up having a one night stand with Cole, an architect from out of town. Cole has to leave town unexpectedly and Ellery discovers she’s pregnant. Cole returns and discovers Ellery is pregnant. He wants to raise their baby together but Ellery doesn’t fully trust him. Cole works on Ellery to win her over. He’s very patient with her. Her family is full of crazy characters. So is Winter Falls. I enjoyed the storyline, characters, and the town. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.

This is Ellery and Cole’s story, but sometimes it feels like it is more about everyone else in the family. I loved the start with Cole and Ellery, but felt that the middle was more about the family. I understand Ellery’s hang up about out of towners but her lack of effort to try was a bit annoying. Honestly, the saving grace in all of this is Cole’s maturity and patience. This is a quick read that can be read as a standalone, but to understand the cast of characters, it would be best to read the previous stories in this series.

The romance between Ellery and Cole is a heartwarming story centred on trust, acceptance and crazy family members.
Building on the two previous sisters, Ellery is the calm and dedicated second sister who after meeting the handsome and arrogant Cole, gets an unexpected surprise. I'm so excited to see how the rest of their story plays out in the upcoming books and see the next couples fall in love. There is also a mystery that is still unsolved that is gaining more traction.
This small-town, pregnancy romance will make you smile and you won't be able to stop turning the page.

This third book in the series about the West sisters focuses on Ellery and her relationship with Cole. Of course, every chapter starts with a quirky quote and the sisters who can’t keep their noses out of each other's business - but it’s all because they love each other. I liked the MC’s and was rooting for Cole to be successful with their relationship. It can be read as a standalone, but I recommend they be read in order as some things are just funnier if you do. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author and BookSirens and was under no obligation to leave a favorable review. All opinions are my own.
