Erin Mallon's debut romantic comedy novel, Flirtasaurus releases in July 2020. She is an award-winning narrator of over 450 books and an accomplished playwright and producer in New York City. She has written over 40 plays, which have been produced Off-Broadway and all over the country, including These Walls Can Talk, a raucous theatrical love letter to the romance audiobook community. She lives in a little yellow house on the outskirts of NYC with her husband and Three J's.
Beep. Boop. Brilliant! The gang is back (plus one more) and better than ever in These Walls Can Talk 3: Rise of the Machine! Erin Mallon once again proves she is the queen of comedic audio plays bringing her witty, hilarious gift of writing front and center! Plus, the relevance and relatability of this play made me feel like I was catching up with old friends proving Erin knows and LOVES her fans so well! It is simply delicious audio perfection!
This audio play features performances from Joe Arden, Tanya Eby, Teddy Hamilton, Emma Wilder, Shane East, Andi Arndt, Erin Mallon, Maxine Mitchell, and Jason Clarke. What a phenomenal, all-star cast! This amazingly talented cast fell effortlessly back into their characters that we all know and love! In addition, Jason Clarke performing Artie Smarts showcased ironically how versatile and dynamic his voice is! (mind blown!) Plus, the rap battle performance featuring #SwallowtheJohnson was EPIC (kudos for that well-written rap, Erin), and the memorable one-liners will keep you well entertained (and in constant laughter) for days. Each narrator’s spot-on comedic timing had me grinning from ear to ear and giggling (quite loudly) throughout this whole audio play. The sound effects and the attention to every little detail were like a movie playing in your ears! The entire cast was an absolute DREAM!
Overall I LOVED (and maybe mildly obsessed) with this entire production! If you are a romance audio fan who loves hearing so many of your narrator favorites performing in a multicast one-of-a-kind performance showcasing the power of human storytelling, then you will love and adore These Walls Can Talk 3 by the incredible Erin Mallon! I have just loved indulging in every single minute of all three of these fantastic audio plays!
(audiobook) The author is never where you expect her. Surprise may be her middle name.
She pursues her exploration of the romance world and the audiobook community–authors, narrators and listeners–with a hot topic: the use of artificial intelligence to narrate audiobooks. In her own special way, of course.
Between conversations about parenthood, a narrator’s dream work, and intimacy, she offers her opinion on the value of human narrators to convey emotions. Or not? As you will see, the real problem in this story isn’t the fact that a robot–yes, you read it right–is trying to steal their livelihood, but just that… it’s a robot! She delves into science fiction for her new opus of These walls can talk, and she does it with her usual humor.
Her perfect cast of narrators comes back, with the addition of another amazing narrator for Artie the robot. They all know when to be funny, and when to express deeper emotions. If you don’t get goosebumps at times, and laugh most of the time, you’re listening wrong. The sound effects once again give you the impression that you’re in a theater with closed eyes, enjoying a play just with your ears.
*** relistened/ watched the audioplay LIVE from Vegas 10/30/22 ********** Re-read/listed today. I just had to . 5/25/22 I picked up even more fun and snark ++++++++++ Great edition to the series and Conclusion (Erin! is that so?! I hope that I'm wrong!) . The entire cast is back + a new "character" that is a BIG development in the audio/narration profession. Cameron, what have you done?!! I love this group (cast) and Erin's quirky story really kept me riveted-and cracked me up! Instead of chapters, there are "scenes". The sound effects are subtle and add to the audio play in my ears. Joe as Atticus, OYE ! He has a stick up his arse but is still kinda lovable. Artie Smarts (Jason Clark)!! Watch out for him... This is a cautionary tale. The heroes and heroines have a challenge on their hands. Just listen to this and find out if they can stop this new character. This is an audio that I know I'll listen to many times.
Erin Mallon brings us back to the behind-the-scenes world of audiobooks in These Walls Can Talk 3: Rise of the Machine.
I don’t want to give too much away because I loved the experience of going into this installment virtually blind. Trust me, I would never promote a book or audio that I didn’t thoroughly enjoy and this audio play had me in stitches!
I had listened to the first two plays and highly recommend doing so if you haven’t because they are every bit as funny and brilliant as this one. All three plays are relatively short which is a good and bad thing. Good if you don’t like long audios, but bad because they are so much fun that you don’t want them to end!
The timing of this play’s release is spot on and while it is a comedy, there are several poignant moments between the characters that connect to real life. Erin is a master storyteller both as a writer and a narrator!
All our favorite characters and their respective narrators return and there’s a new addition in Jason Clarke as Artie Smarts. These actors were spectacular in their roles and serve as proof that only humans are capable of telling human stories. That may seem like an overly simple statement, but the subtle nuances of these narrators’ performances and how they connect to the listeners is not something I can foresee being replicated by any form of artificial intelligence.
From the writing to the performances, the sound effects to the production quality…everything about this audio play makes it a masterpiece!
My first video review (in Hebrew) was about These Walls Can Talk 1+2. It was my first time listening to an audio play and to Erin's work as an author and not just a narrator.
These Walls Can Talk 3 was simply amazing! I loved Jason Clarke's voice as the robot and He was incredible and really sounded robotic!
I think the entire idea of this series is pure genius! From book 1 I thought it was some kind of homage or a love letter to the audiobooks \ narrators world. I know I learned a lot about that world even though the audiobook was just fiction.
Each narrator was so perfect for their role! They sounded so genuine and funny and realistic. The audio was fun, it was clever and I wish this series would go on and on.
I really feel like Erin brought something unique and exciting from the narrators and that was brilliant and so fun to listen.
It's so much easier for me to describe my feelings in Hebrew but I hope that who ever reads this understand how much I loved this audiobook. This one and the other two in the series.
(Audio Review) In this (tongue-and-cheek) third in the series, we see the rise of the machines/robot narrators, and what it would mean for the romance genre. In short, human stories requires so much nuance in performances from narrators, and we observe that this would be difficult to recreate using A.I.
Let me tell you, just like the rest of the series, I just couldn’t stop laughing throughout! This was a nice, quick listen. The production was of high quality and the sound effects were great!
The audio play includes a full cast of some of your fav romance narrators. This includes Erin Mallon, Joe Arden, Andi Arndt, Shane East, Tanya Eby, Teddy Hamilton, Maxine Mitchell, Emma Wilder, and Jason Clarke. And they all did a fantastic job! They really brought out the characters of the book with their voices.
This truly is a love letter to romance audiobook fans! Highly recommend it!
Atticus and Neil are the newly crowned "hottest male narration team" for Mmm-Mmm romance, and they're flying high on the praise.
Nothing can get them down.
Until Vera and Cameron usher a mysterious voice onto the scene and shake the foundation of the audiobook industry itself.
In a world where humanity is all we have, can our group of former friends band together to save the future of storytelling?
Or are audiobooks destined to be nothing more than a bunch of beep beep boop?
Review : This series is so fun and just listen to the audiobooks they are hilarious. Cameron and Vera started using a AI to narrate his book and of course Atticus and Jennifer are shocked . Vera is still mad at Atticus even though she has her own business as agents to audiobook narrators . Nate and Georgia had their baby . The ai goes Rouge and wants Vera so the gang goes over to save her . Such a fun and sweet story love all these characters.

"I am a narrator not a definitioner." Ha ha ha, if you listened to this series then your in for a treat this one delivers perfection and brilliance. I couldn't stop laughing it was excellent.
I love the way its truth and fiction and the community all rolled in. Its fun and witty makes me want to go back and listen from 1 all the way through again.
I needed this laugh, and the narration is fabulous each character is awesome and narrators who play them equally as stunning.
No way around it if you haven't listened to these seriously what are you waiting for it is audio brilliance.
These plays get funnier and funnier with each new one that comes out. I love how Erin takes realities of their work as narrators, and turns it into a comedy. There is definitely some real situations happening, but they are wrapped in these funny scenarios. I can honestly say that I have not laughed this hard in a very very long time. The narration in this play is AH-MAZING!!!! These narrators have giving such life to these characters and it is perfect!!! P.S. there is a rap In this story that is EPIC!!!!
I laughed. I think I had a smile on my face the entire time. Thank you for this masterpiece of audio plays Erin. The bloopers at the end were chef’s kiss. You have basically created romance listener fan fic and I’m totally here for all of it.
You are spectacular at being nonsensical heartwarming joy to everything you do. You also always make me think. Let’s all go be toxically positive now!!!
Just when you thought TWCT & TWCT2 couldn’t get any better, Erin Mallon delivers yet another pearler to the series!
I know I’ve used the word HILARIOUS in each of my reviews, which is highly unimaginative of me, so here’s the dictionary meaning for you:
hilarious (adjective) VERY FUNNY, extremely amusing, hysterically funny, riotous, side-splitting, rib-tickling, too funny for words, entertaining, comic, chucklesome, a scream, a hoot
This book fits each and every one of those descriptions.
As a result, please consider this review to be a PSA that TWCT3 should not be listened to while driving a motor vehicle, for the following reasons (#truestory):
1: your desire to clap will override the necessity of keeping your hands on the wheel; 2: sitting at traffic lights wiping away the stream of laughter-induced tears will earn you a lot of weird stares; and 3: have you ever laughed so hard you lost the ability to breathe in, and nearly passed out? Yeah, this will happen, repeatedly might I add, so consider yourself warned.
Erin’s ability to conjure up line after line of side-splitting dialogue is absolute genius-level!
Add to that the talents of some the best voice actors in the business, and voila! You have an aural comedic masterpiece that I guarantee will be added to your “repeat listen” library.
This one was super cheesy with the robot BUT it still made me laugh. It’s a short “play” and again it’s worth listening to just for the bloopers at the end.
If you are a fan of audio romance books with these amazing narrators check it out.
I thoroughly enjoyed this entire series, the voice narrators were absolutely amazing and I laughed the entire time. The bloopers are as always my favorite part! AI doesn’t belong anywhere near audiobook narration!!
They're all back and they have thoughts about something new in the industry. Time has passed since These Walls Can Talk. Anyone who follows audiobooks closely would highly enjoy this continuation of the group's story. Friendships are made and some have changed. Vera and Cameron are making changes with mixed results; Neil is now an in-demand narrator, Georgia has questionable naptime tricks; Niffer and Andrea are spreading their wings; Atticus misses a friend; Frankie has secrets and new addition Artie won't stop pivoting.
As with the past TWCT plays, Erin Mallon has written a funny and compelling story about the trials and tribulations of romance book narration. This play touches on the balance of audiobook narrations, working with authors, and the impact of AI narration in this space. One of the great things about this series that I love is that it is obviously written in an exaggerated way; however, anyone who follows this industry at all will raise their eyebrow wondering how close to the truth this really could be. I love it, I enjoyed everything about it, the freaking rap battle was a treat. ALso loved having the blooper reel on the audio version.
I was able to listen to a copy of the audio version. The whole cast was amazing. Teddy Hamilton, Tanya Eby, Joe Arden, Erin Mallon, Emma Wilder, Maxine Mitchell, Andi Arndt, Shane East and Jason Clarke were such a delight to listen to.
Once again, Erin Mallon has delivered a superb play full of wit and non-stop laughter, a few cringe-worthy moments, and an opportunity for so many #'s.
Our crew of narrators, Atticus, Neil, Jennifer, and their ragtag group of friends are back! In this adventure, our team will band together to fight for their livelihoods against an up-and-coming AI, Artie Smarts.
I loved this third installment of TWCT. The things Erin has the team saying are hilarious, and even a few cringe from embarrassment moments are looped in their dialogue. The rap battle is insane and so good that I kept rewinding to hear it repeatedly.
I can not recommend this series enough. It will pull you out of a funk and leave a smile on your face.
“Beep beep boop” “Plot twist” “And that’s how it’s done”
*Mic drop*
Erin Mallon is my girl - my #1 favourite narrator, and certainly one of my favourite authors, but one of the things she does the very best? Writes plays! She is an incredible playwright, and this trilogy, These Walls Can Talk, is just... BEYOND! It took me a while to get the right words together and write this review, because These Walls Can Talk 3: Rise of the Machine is just so spectacular, I needed to take some time to come up with the right words to tell everybody just how amazing it is, to scream from the rooftops how amazing Erin Mallon is, and figure out how to encourage everybody to go out and pick up all 3 of these plays and listen non-stop!
Erin started These Walls Can Talk with some tongue-in-cheek poking of fun at the audiobook narrating (and a little bit listening) community, in a very fun way. The first one was very cute and sweet and extremely funny. For those of us that have listened for a very long time (for 12+ years like me and others), and have our faves in the narrating world, and stalk... I mean follow them closely on Facebook and Instagram, receive their newsletters, and know quite a bit of what they are willing to share, happen to know some of their pseudonyms (from just recognizing voices or from what they themselves have shared) - this series might hit a little funnier. When they can poke fun at themselves and the issues within their world (since we all know, every job and industry has it's share of issues to work around), and share it with their listeners, you know you have a strong bond with your peeps.
This one, part 3, deals with a very current issue out there now, with some companies looking into using AI and other tech in place of human voices for narrating books. Now, when I'm reading an actual book and am struck with a migraine but I have to focus and get that ARC finished that is publishing tomorrow, I might get Siri in to help me finish the job on time (and I know some people will have Alexa read out their books at times) - but those artificial voices WILL NEVER replace my human narrator voices, no matter how realistic, and like Artie in this play, might end up sounding. So, not to worry on my end, all my favourite narrators - no matter what happens, I will continue buying and supporting all of you, because I love your voices so much, I love these audioplays, and I love Erin's writing and narrating so. dang. much!
So - everybody. Rush out and pick up this (all 3) audioplay - now! It's incredible! All of the voices are incredible, and real people, and I love every single one of them - they're all on my top fave voices lists!!
Thank you again, Erin Mallon and Home Cooked Books, for the advance copy - as always, I appreciate it so much!
Just when you think Erin Mallon has thought of everything, and there is nothing else she can bring to the These Walls Can Talk series about the audiobook community, she lets you know how wrong you were to think such foolishness.
We’re back with the whole gang-Joe Arden (Atticus aka The Narwhal), Tanya Eby (Georgia), Shane East (Cameron), Emma Wilder (Jennifer aka Niffer), Teddy Hamilton (Neil), Andi Arndt (Vera), Maxine Mitchell (Andrea), and Erin Mallon (Narrator and Frankie) all return. And this time, they have Jason Clarke as Artie Smarts with them.
Artie is an AI. In this current climate of authors and companies wanting to use AI in audiobooks (much to listeners objections) it was a very clever and hilarious way to show the downside of it. As will all things Erin there are layers to this story and it also deals with boundaries when people make themselves available on social media. There are some lines that just seem funny at first listen but then stick with you and make you think differently. It’s one of the things I love about Erin’s writing.
Each of the voice actors brings something unique and brilliant to the character they voice. However, Jason Clarke steals the show as Artie. It is like you have never heard him before. Trust me, if you think you’ve heard all sides to Jason, he’s about to prove you wrong.
I will never get enough of this series. I hope there will be more in the future because I love these characters and the look behind the curtain of the audiobook industry. Add in the interactions of the voice actors and it is something special to experience.
Thank you to Erin Mallon, Joe Arden, Andi Arndt, Shane East, Tanya Eby, Teddy Hamilton, Maxine Mitchell, Jason Clarke, and Emma Wilder for creating such an amazing listening experience and entertaining us in such a wonderful way.
You know that feeling when something is perfectly written? When it is everything you could want in a story? When it hits exactly how you want it to hit? Enter These Walls Can Talk 3: Rise of the Machine. This is the most ridiculously perfect love letter to romance audio fans.
This story is entertaining, funny, and heartfelt. There are so many amazing and hilarious moments in this play. There are a ton of small quick jokes and great timed lines that will get funnier with each relisten. Somehow, through the brilliance that is Erin Mallon, there are these fabulous poignant moments dancing right alongside of silly lines, potty humor, and clever word play. The greatest comedies have these layers of storytelling, and I am in awe of how Erin accomplished this feat throughout this series.
I think my favorite part of this play, the whole series really, is hearing these narrators truly act. We love each and every one of them for the beautiful stories they bring to life. This series helps remind the listener of how truly talented these actors really are. How amazing they are at comedy. Real comedy! Every one of them was outstanding. These characters are special, and it is impossible to pick a favorite narrator or character.
This whole series is written in a way that makes you feel like you are in on the joke by loving romance, being an audio fan, and participating in any kind of book social media. It feels like you get a satirical sneak peek into the behind the scenes world of audiobooks. It’s inclusive. It’s fun. It’s magic! Thank you Erin Mallon for sharing your talent with us, and bringing together such an impressive group of narrators. I am so lucky to have listened to these three perfect plays!
These Walls Can Talk 3: Rise of the Machine is an amazingly brilliant audio play written by Erin Mallon. The incredible multi-cast includes Joe Arden as Atticus aka “The Narwhal” Barnswallow, Andi Arndt as Vera, Shane East as Cameron, Tanya Eby as Georgia, Teddy Hamilton as Neil and Fairfax Johnson, Erin Mallon as Frankie, Maxine Mitchell as Andrea, Emma Wilder as Jennifer aka “Niffer”, and Jason Clarke as Artie Smarts.
Rise of the Machine is the conclusion of Erin’s hilarious series that gives us an almost behind the scenes view into the life of an audiobook narrator. As we rejoin this fun and quirky group of audiobook industry professionals, we discover what they will do when their livelihood is threatened by Artie Smarts, the newest voice on the scene. You will love the banter between the characters and the hijinks that ensue. Did we mention there is a RAP BATTLE? There is. And it is - wait for it- LEGENDARY!
The performances by the entire cast were phenomenal! The amount of talent displayed by these narrators is mind blowing. Adding Jason Clarke as Artie to this already rockstar team totally put this production over the top. We wish we could have been present during the recording to witness the magic as it happened!
Erin Mallon’s writing showcases her comedic brilliance. She has her finger right on the pulse of current events and what’s relevant. She uses self-deprecating humor to play to the audience – romance audiobook fans, narrators, writers and industry insiders. Through her storytelling, Erin shares poignant life thoughts in addition to bringing us joy and laughter. As always, we love Erin’s work and look forward to her next project.
“Without all the noise, it’s so much easier to listen.”
OMG! These Walls Can Talk 3: Rise of the Machine by Erin Mallon is an absolute delight. I’ve never giggle/ snorted so much while listening to a book! While I would categorize this as a comedic audio play, the author weaved in a topic of very serious concern to the voice acting community. AI (artificial intelligence) narration has become a real thing. Audiobooks are already being produced using the technology and it has become a lightning rod issue for the voice actors who feel passionately about the importance of having a human behind the mic.
For me, TWCT3 is a definite ringing endorsement for the investment in human actors. The cast is brilliant. All of our favorites from the first two plays are back and Jason Clarke joins in the mayhem as the voice of Artie Smarts. In one of my absolute favorite scenes, Mr. Clarke, as Artie, demonstrates the wide range of emotions that he can portray (even while voicing a robot). It was absolutely mind blowing. And in a strange way it single handedly proved the importance of using real voice actors.
In addition to examining the AI issue, Mallon has so many fun references to the audiobook community. From fan groups for authors and narrators, to discussions of other genres, to work family balance concerns, no topic is off limits. Ms. Mallon’s skills as a writer shines as the topics are equal parts hilarious and thought provoking.
I’m generally not a fan of sound effects when I’m listening to audiobooks. But in the case of this series of audio plays, every sound adds to the performance and really brings the audience into the story. I highly recommend this series to anyone who is a fan of audiobooks regardless of their preferred genre. The writing and the narration are absolute perfection!
These Walls Can Talk 3: Rise of the Machine is the third and final book in this audio play series see’s the amazing narrator crew back together again for one last hoorah with the addition of the amazing Jason Clarke. After TWCT and TWCT2 I honestly didn’t think there was any way Erin could improve on the awesomeness, but she pulled it out the bag in the first 30 seconds. A little heads up would’ve been nice though, I spat out perfectly good tea when Neil said the name of his and Atticus’ production company. The comedy was off the charts funny, the banter between the characters was quick and snappy and I will never recover from that rap…lyrical genius! Oh, and the bloopers, I almost pee’d my pants! I can’t wait to see this amazing cast perform live in Vegas in October; it’s going to be hilarious. The entire cast was incredible, Shane East reprising his role as Cameron, Andi Arndt as Vera, Emma Wilder as Jennifer, Maxine Mitchell as Andrea, Tanya Eby as Georgia, and Erin Mallon as Frankie. I have to shine a spotlight on Joe Arden and Teddy Hamilton who will forever be known as #swallowthejohnson these two were amazing together and that rap, holy shit, Joe was phenomenal supported by Teddy and their harem of ladies. Jason Clarke is a newcomer to the cast as Artie Smarts the AI and my goodness, he puts on a spectacular performance. What a fabulous addition, I couldn’t have loved this more. If you haven’t listened to these plays that were written by the woman who quite literally can do ANYTHING, where have you been and what have you been doing? Download them all immediately, buckle up and enjoy the fun train. Beep beep boop!
If you love to laugh, you're going to want to check this one out. To get the full experience, you should start with book one. This is a play that makes fun of their profession. There's a storm brewing, more like building momentum, and it's one I'm not happy about.
I found it interesting that the author addresses concerns I had after seeing something in a group I belong to. She puts a funny spin on it and made my yard work a fun experience. The downside had nothing to do with any of these people, or the storyline, but at my iPod. Maybe it was revolting because of what I was listening to but I was getting to a really good part and the "stupid thing" kept shutting off. I almost began to wonder if it had sympathy for the new character that was added here. But we both got through it and now I want more. If I add too much more to my review than it will become a spoiler and this is something that needs to be experienced.
After you have finished, I hope you will check out more of both the author's other work as well as those of the other voice actors. I can't say that I liked one above the other since they are all important to this comedic piece. One good thing about listening to this as I was doing yard work was I could laugh out loud and not care if anyone saw me. Now if I had been in the grocery store, that would have been a problem because there was no way that I would be able to hold back the laughter. Now that I've been through all three in the series, I can now go back and listen to each one in succession. Think of them as acts in a play.
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
*I received an ALC in exchange for my honest review*
Erin Mallon's newest audio play, Rise of the Machine, (These Walls Can Talk, Book 3) will have you shrieking with laughter so be mindful of your location when listening. Greatly anticipated, we're granted a front row seat to the next chapter in the characters’ always entertaining lives.
Atticus and Neil have become an "mmm-mmm" romance power couple dubbed, “Swallow the Johnson;” Neil and Georgia are busy with a newborn; Vera and Cameron are on the wrong side of the AI narrator debate, putting friendships at risk; Niffer and Andrea are about to become an author/narrator pair, and Atticus and Frankie are toothache sweet with their literal puppy love.
The original TWCT cast and newcomers from The Narwhal Strikes Back! return with a very special addition, Jason Clarke! Regarding their style, Joe Arden’s dryness and comedic timing as Atticus had me cackling, as usual. Also, Teddy Hamilton’s energy as anxious, excitable Neil never quits. As Artie Smarts, the new “narrator” on the block, Jason’s gives Artie a realistic tone, not a caricature of a robot. The entire cast gave 100% to their characters and the story,
Erin Mallon continues to earn her triple threat status as a playwright and narrator, while also writing novels. If you’re ready for more hilarity and behind the scenes access to the lives of those in the industry, including friendships, rivalries and birthday parties that bring all the feels, designate your next credit for Rise of the Machine!
Atticus and Neil are the new hottest Mmm-Mmm romance narrator duo... until Vera and Cameron bring a new "voice" to the scene: Artie Smarts. But there is something about this Artie person than can be very dangerous to the audiobook indistry. The "Narwal" and his friends will band together because nope, they are not having it!
If you, like me, are an audiobook enthusiast, you've certainly listened to Erin Mallon's wonderful audioplays. In this third installment of These Walls Can Talk, "Skynet" is real and is about to replace our beloved narrators! (Or at least they'll try!) Nope! No! Never! Jason Clarke is incredible as the AI robot who's apparently become sort of sentient - and also kinda scary. The story is hilarious but yeah, we know people are using synthetic voices to narrate several things. We've become accustomed to the Siris and Alexas but NOTHING will replace these talented people because narration is an A R T.
So, my shoutout to the amazing cast: Joe Arden, Andi Arndt, Jason Clarke, Shane East, Tanya Eby, Teddy Hamilton, Erin Mallon, Maxine Mitchell and Emma Wilder. You guys can never be replaced!
DO NOT SKIP THE BLOOPERS!!! LOL
Possible "triggers": Well, I was definitely "triggered" by the very idea of a synthetic voice reading my books. NOPE. NO. NEVER. NOOOOOOOOOO.
(I understand the amazing thing it is for the people who are unable to read with their eyes to have a voice to read to them. It is wonderful. This is not what I am screaming against. )
The Rise Against the Machine revolution is here!!! Erin Mallon has written another spectacular audio play! These Walls Can Talk3 is live and it is outrageously funny. I have listened a few times and I keep hearing new, snort-laugh worthy comedic moments with each listen. Each installment of the These Walls Can Talk series has been an aural delight and left me in stitches. There is tension among the group as new narration technology has the friends divided. Erin sheds light on real industry issues in her unique, abstract, hilarious storytelling style. The ensemble cast is fantastic! Erin, Emma, Joe, Shane, Andi, Maxine, Teddy, and Tanya have somehow topped their performances in the previous audio plays. The energy, comradery, talent, and humor of this ensemble makes my heart happy. Jason Clarke is new to the cast for TWCT3 and he is phenomenal! The way he voices the new AI narrator, Artie Smarts, is hysterical and nothing short of perfection. Jason’s sampling of genre narration styles as Artie is amazing! TWCT3 is chock-full of side splitting moments with Vera, Cameron, Atticus, Neil, ‘Niffer, Andrea, Georgia, Frankie, and Artie. Prepare yourself, and maybe put your coffee down, for a forking funny aural experience! Tyler Whitlach and Nick Long added wonderful depth with their sound design, line editing, and mixing. These Walls Can Talk 3 is one of Erin’s best comedies yet! Beep Beep Boop.
Erin Mallon has written an entire series of audio plays that is essentially a love letter to and a wink-wink, nudge-nudge look inside the creation of romance audiobooks. There is no better genre to both divide and unite people in the community. Romance listeners are dedicated and passionate, and will through their entire hearts into support the authors and narrators they love.
Rise of the Machine is a hysterical take on the emergence of AI in voice acting. The fact that Jason Clarke, arguably one of the most successful male romance narrators, plays a robot just proves how a robot wouldn't be even half has good as the human playing the robot according to my ears. He was hysterical, and I could not stop laughing as he went through demonstrating the narration tones of different genres. That was not only a fun bit, but it was scarily spot-on!
The all-start cast is reunited, and we get to catch up with our favorites from the first two TWCT plays. Niffer, Andrea, Cameron, Vera, Georgia, Neil, Atticus, Frankie are all back to take on Arty Smarts!
I love this series so much, and it's a go-to when I need to laugh. Erin Mallon can write plays that tug at your heartstrings, plays that make you go "hmmm...." and plays that just make you laugh out loud. All of them are witty and enjoyable. So go pick this up, and all of her plays. You won't regret it.
Rise of the Machine is the perfect, laugh-out-loud finale to Erin Mallon’s brilliant These Walls Can Talk trilogy. The gang is back—plus one unforgettable new addition—and the result is comedic gold. Atticus and Neil are riding high as the “hottest male narration team” until a mysterious new voice threatens to upend the entire audiobook industry. What follows is a clever, meta, and delightfully absurd romp about friendship, creativity, and the human side of storytelling.
The all-star cast is nothing short of phenomenal: Joe Arden, Tanya Eby, Teddy Hamilton, Emma Wilder, Shane East, Andi Arndt, Erin Mallon, Maxine Mitchell, and Jason Clarke bring their characters to life with pitch-perfect comedic timing. Jason Clarke’s turn as Artie Smarts was especially impressive, and the rap battle (#SwallowtheJohnson) was pure, unexpected genius. The sharp one-liners, the chemistry between the cast, and the spot-on sound design made the whole experience feel like a movie in audio form.
Erin Mallon’s witty, self-aware writing shines brighter than ever here, blending satire with genuine affection for the audiobook community. It’s hilarious, heartfelt, and so relatable for romance audio fans. Simply put, Rise of the Machine is audio perfection and an absolute must-listen for anyone who’s loved this series—or just loves to laugh.
Erin Mallon is an absolute treasure and this is everything we all need right now! I started taking notes on my favorite quotes, but there are so many I gave up - plus I don’t want to accidentally give any spoilers. Suffice it to say that EVERYONE should listen to this multicast duet audioplay because it is nothing short of amazing! Even 3 minutes into chapter 1 I had already laughed out loud twice and startled my dogs. It only got better from there. I can’t even begin to pinpoint everything I loved about it, but I just finished my third listen and I found something new each time that made me smile. Even the name of the collaboration mentioned, the name of the series discussed, and GENIUS quotes like “Ring the neck of my spontaneity” just killed me in the best possible way! Erin so skillfully wraps up so many poignant topics and weaves them together skillfully and then she casts the best narrator for each part to give us the audio perfection we need right now! I kid you not, every narrator is perfection~! Such incredible humor, sarcasm, friendship, love, lust, friendship, and robot AI performances by everyone! Jason Clarke is clearly having a GREAT time giving voice to Artie in this brilliant audioplay that is guaranteed to grab you by the feels, make you think, make you laugh and thoroughly entertain you from beginning to end! Make sure you listen all the way through the bonus material at the end - It is the icing on the cake and I LOVED every moment!
Run - Don’t Walk - and get your ears on this ASAP. Make sure you sign up to listen to the live performances in October as well~I can’t wait! It's so good I can't even pinpoint the best thing because it's all the best!
My favorite audiobook crew is back and they are back with another brilliant audioplay. “These Walls Can Talk 3” is a hilarious audioplay that brought all my favorite narrators together. A.I. narration takeover, romance book driven dirty talk and a rap battle? This play has it all.
After bringing it all to their “MmmMmm” game, Atticus and Neil are riding high from all their praise for their narration. All is good in the audiobook world until a new voice breaks through on the scene.
I started this with a smile on my face and ended with an even bigger smile on my face and tears from laughing so hard. Erin brought her A game once again when she wrote this amazing play. Erin seamlessly wrote a play with all of these amazing narrators while bringing in something from the real world that is happening in the audiobook world. And the cast narrating? Absolutely amazing. Joe Arden, Shane East, Andi Arndt, Maxine Mitchell, Emma Wilder, Teddy Hamilton, Tanya Eby, Erin Mallon and newest addition to the cast, Jason Clarke, were so perfect. Erin couldn’t have written better characters for these narrators. This and the first two plays will be a constant relisten for me.
