My Alpha captured me… and now I can’t remember why I ran from him in the first place. Literally.
My memory has been fractured and tossed into the Web. My mission is to reclaim who I used to be.
My Alpha? He has other plans.
It’s a race to gather the lost fragments of my soul tossed into the fabric of space and time. He broke me. Now he wants to put me back together how he sees fit. All the while forcing me to take horrendous obedience classes at Fortune Fae Academy like I’m some sort of pet to be trained.
Axel might be my only hope—the lesser of two evils. With his help, my Betas and I might just be able to get out of this mess. There will be a price to pay, but anything is better than being enslaved to my Alpha forever.
Even if he does awaken something in me that says this feels right… and my body tends to agree whenever he’s around.
I have to stay strong and remember I ran from him for a reason. Darkness torments my dreams every night and I know something bad is coming. If I don’t figure out a way to run from it in time, I can kiss the shards of my soul goodbye—for good.
Fortune Fae Academy: Book Two is a Reverse Harem Omegaverse Romance. Be warned there are obsessive males who will stop at nothing to claim their fated mate. Trigger warnings include dub-con, strong language, and violence. As this is a series, book 2 ends on a cliffhanger.
USA Today Bestselling Author J.R. Thorn is a Reverse Harem Romance author. All her books are written in the same world except for co-write books, so be sure to check out the recommended reading order listed above or on the website! (She'll also admit to having an unhealthy obsession with magical tattoos and alpha males.)
This book has too many complex relationships and the change in personalities is so drastic i just can’t. The characters change so much that I don’t know who I’m reading about or why this change was necessary. It makes no sense to me…I don’t think I’ll be reading 3. • • • SPOILERS BELOW • • • 1. They mate 2. She loses sense of who she was and why she didn’t want to mate 3. Axel abused her betas, sexual and physically until they broke 4. Seif is remorseful for everything but Gina doesn’t get why cause SHE DOSENT REMEMBER so she’s like meh it’s okay, moving on. 5. Her betas as just sexs toys now, Axel broke them in his quest to become alpha and they can’t even enjoy each other anymore 6. Apparently Axel just needs to fuck Gina while in heat and he will transition to alpha? 7. There’s another alpha out there in the web waiting for her…
I’m just so lost and overwhelmed and outside of knowing there was some okay spice in this book I’m not sure it’s the book for me anymore.
A lot was happening in this book. The heat cycle was a weird mess of chaos and I skimmed pages…
At the end of the last book, Gina was given an illegal tonic in order for Alpha Seif to mate her. During the process Gina has been truly broken and has lost her memories of why she ran and why she hated Seif in the first place. As she succumbs to her instincts of being an omega, Seif is trying to fix her and Axel is trying to find ways to take her away from Seif. The book is a little confusing with all the prophecy's, so I’m hoping the next book explains more.
I liked this more than book one ! Well, I’m still not a fan of the female narrator, the story was really good. I felt like this one ended on a pretty big cliffhanger so I can’t wait to listen to book 3. I need to know if my inkling is correct. I’m a little confused by the end but I sure hope I get my answers in book 3.
Couldn’t do it guys. I simply couldn’t finish this book.
I was “iffy” about book 1, but I have no hesitation about this one. It’s an unequivocal “nope” from me. And it’s not due to dark themes and the nature of the omegaverse genre. It’s just not that good. First of all, the first third of the book is Gina in the throes of her first heat cycle. So it’s basically a seemingly never ending sex scene, but it’s not even a good one. Good luck not getting lost in all the descriptions of the “web,” sex, her visions, sex, Seif’s ridiculous thoughts, sex . . . Ugh, I should have just given up then, but no. I punished myself even worse than what Axel did to the betas and continued on. There’s almost no dialogue in this first third of the book, so don’t think that’s going to help you either.
Honestly, I’m not really sure what the author was going for. I have read other omega verse stories, and even though I really don’t like some parts of that genre, I still was invested in the characters and the storylines. Milania Jacks and Lizzy Bequin are examples of this dark genre done well. In this series, I’m not invested in any of these characters and I really don’t like the FMC and I actively hate the two alphas; Seif and Axel. So why am I sticking around when the story is so convoluted that it’s near impossible to follow?
I did like the work that the author did with Lexi C. Foss in the Elemental Fae Academy series, so I’m rather disappointed that I couldn’t finish this related series.
I have to prefix this with that I love most J R Thorn books. But this left me.. angry and unsatisfied.
The book itself is short but it feels like a filler with a tiny bit of story. This short book could have been two chapters.
And we spend so much time in characters heads. There is so little dialogue going on and while that can work. It didn't feel like it did for me.
The premises is so good. I am just so angry because this could have been so much more. It feels like I waited forever for this book and now I kinda wish I hadn't read it.
I hate writing negative reviews for authors I seriously enjoy reading normally.
DNF I picked up this book because it’s a continuation of Midnight Fae Academy by Lexi C Foss which is a great series. I preserved with the first book but this is just getting ridiculous. How did the publisher or an editor even approved the rough draft let alone letting the author publish not one bit 3 books in the trilogy. It is bad with capital letters. BAD
Wow...talk about dark Omegaverse. If dark is up your alley then this series is for you. I love how well J.R. Thorn make you dislike one character and then turns around and has you kinda rooting for them again. I have throughly enjoyed this Fae World. Can't wait for book 3.
I liked book 2 better than book 1, but it still leaves you with lots of questions. The cat and mouse is finished at this point in the series and now it’s the repercussions of everyone’s actions. There’s a big bad that’s introduced but not yet explored. STILL nothing related to the academy in this book.
I’m sorry, but I just can’t get behind Axel. I’m sure he has some sort of redemption story coming, but I really dislike him. I’ve loved the other series in this fae universe that I’ve read thus far, but this one is just making me struggle. There’s too much forced/“dubious consent,” and I just want to drop kick Axel into another series. Honestly, they all are sort of annoying me right now. I’m going to finish the series because I have to find out who the weird, creepy shadow web guy is, but I hope it gets better and that she maybeeeee kills off Axel lol
WTH! This second book had me in its grips and on the edge of my seat the whole read. Poor Gina trying to find her memories and get away from the alpha who wants to enslave her and put her back together how he wants her to be. It’s fast paced, dark, intense, steamy and very dramatic and I just couldn’t put it down, and that ending OMG!
I'm not sure if it's just that my tastes have changed since book 1, but I was only a few chapters in and found myself skim reading trying to find some plot. At 25% decided to DNF as the book seemed to lack any substance whatsoever. The vast majority of the chunk I did read was an extended sex scene, sadly one written in such purple prose that it wasn't even hot. It was just a boring, confusing and endlessly repetitive mention of slick, knots, silver threads and the Web.
I loved book 1 but I don't even recognise that story in this one - the characters felt different, the writing was lacklustre and I never did find any plot. I'm glad I got it via KU because I would have been hugely disappointed to spend £6 on such a short book that failed to entertain. Book #1 is cheaper and 50% longer. I know the release of this one was delayed a couple of times - it strikes me that the author just didn't know where to take the story and in desperation ended up putting out a third-rate story. Sorry, but this is not worth the high price being charged for it.
I enjoyed this book but am kind of confused. The whole book was pretty much Gina in heat with her alpha and then with her betas. Not sure what is supposed to be the story line and with the other alpha and why the Elders were forcing a break in the bonds. I hope the next book gives more answers and has more of a story line to it.
3/5 Stars. I have been waiting a long time for the sequel of fortune fae academy to come out, I was absolutely obsessed with the first book and was disappointed when the second book did not live up to my feelings for the first book. Still planning on reading the 3rd instalment when it is released because I need to know what happens, but fingers crossed its better than the second.
So the seems to be a lot going on in this book but I feel like nothing is being resolved. It seemed like the synopsis was leaning towards Axel having things start to work out for him and I feel like we barely saw him.
"There was something about her that could change destiny itself..."
Having read book 1 several times, I’ve grown a bit obsessed with this series / world. Meaning I came into book 2 with very high hopes … that’s often a recipe for disappointment, but absolutely not in this case.
I always think Thorn couldn’t possibly do any better than she already has, yet she does seem to evolve into an even stronger writer the more she does it. I’ll highlight some of what I loved about this book …
🖤 Absolutely epic world-building. 🌸 Stunning visuals, as this author drops me right into the Fortune Fae realm. 🖤 Adventurous steamy scenes, complete with knotting. 🌸 Genius-level weaving of timelines, fortunes, visions, prophecies, etc. 🖤 The ultimate ‘touch her and d**’ vibes, from not only her alpha. 🌸 Occasional violence / war is brewing. 🖤 The continuity is so on-point that we see Gina wear the dress she seems to be in on the book covers—I love this. We saw it in book 1 as well. 🌸 Two alphas. 🖤 A tiny bit of it took place in Orlando, Florida. 🌸 Possibly the absolute sweetest, most dedicated betas I’ve ever ‘met’.
I cannot properly express how much I love the crossovers with Lexi C. Foss’s Midnight Fae realm—Midnight Fae Academy: Book One is a favorite world/series of mine and the deeper into Fortune Fae I get, the more intertwined the 2 become and IT IS SO BRILLIANTLY EXECUTED. Both authors are geniuses, obviously.
4 stars. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Audio: Amazing performances all-around and perfect, expert-level sound quality.
Fortune Fae Academy two is finally here and I have to admit a little easier to navigate than the first book or along the Web😉 Gina has finally been caught and spends a week in Estrus/Heat with Seif. Unfortunately, she can’t remember why she was running in the first place and her mind appears to have fragmented. However, complications come in the form of one of her other Betas Axel, trying to take on Alpha status even though Gina is already mated to Seif who is an Alpha.
The paths on the Web have twisted and are continuously changing and evolving…however, there’s one path no one Saw😳
A very interesting story that I enjoyed and I feel like I managed to navigate it a little better than the first book which I found very intricate, but I’m feeling more confident in my understanding of the Fortune Fae and how they work now😁
Can’t wait to see what happens in the next book with this mate-circle❣️I received an advanced copy and voluntarily leave my honest review❤️
So as the title suggests, there is a lot of violence acted upon the betas from orders of the alpha to the second in command beta. It really bugged me and I had to skip over a bunch of parts but the storyline where the fmc is included is very creative. It bugged me that she lost her memories of why she was running from her alpha and also when he drugged her to get her in heat. Her alpha being so cruel to her in the beginning and the fmc not remembering… I was expecting some kick ass revenge. There was a lot of harsh moments in this book and not enough good stuff to balance it out. JR Thorn is one of my fav authors and I’ll continue reading her books. I did love the multiple povs, I loved how caring Rowan and Zeke were, and the passion they share with the fmc is heart warming.
It’s gets more and more interesting the further you go.
Sooo let’s start with Gina, still running away from Seif, but not anymore for very long. Her whole personality changes and there is something on going on behind her role in this world and we still don’t get any answers for it.
Axel, so far did only 1 bad thing but still is one of the decent ones. I truthfully don’t get this path of I want to change my disignation but it’s interesting to see how hi path is unfolding.
Twins, well, they don’t change much as characters, they don’t have that much voices. But they are very treasured by Gina and we get the constant reminders of that.
Also at this point there are so many prophecies that I’m lost 😅 However still will be continuing the series as I’m too intrigued not to continue
I can't even wrap my head around how to describe this book, or the repulsion I feel reading this book. I can read about SA, violence, bullying and killing, but not this. So just NO. Everything is just about power, the knot and the slick, it's honestly degrading for both males and females. Usually I like this author, and have read almost all the books included in this series world and loved them. The most disturbing for me is how Gina goes from an independent woman with sexuality, to be a slave under this pull of the person deciding that he is her mate. Hopefully it evolves to something good, but so far no. I will get through, and I hope it will get better but I'm halfway through book three and so far it's not looking that bright.
I tried, I gave it 2 books into the series but the whole premise is just far too confusing. It’s like the author lays just enough out but not enough to understand what is actually happening. None of the relationship with the omega make sense. For 2 of the betas is just an instant thing but not really much more to explain umm ok. For the alpha is seems like a power thing but there’s more which isn’t explained and then the top beta it’s just maybe an ego thing or power play against the alpha to want the omega. See what I did there it’s all confusing right imagine reading 600 + pages between 2 books and this is really all I’m getting from this series. Cannot continue
I'm unsure why I picked this up after my issues with the first one, but I guess I was hoping it would redeem itself. Anyway, it doesn't. The first 15% is a circle-jerk of internal stream-of-consciousness monologuing while they have sex after he illegally drugged her.
Then the next couple chapters are all various members of the mate-circle/harem being punished, through outright r@pe, by other members. There's teasing of another alpha out there and I don't care if that one comes in and kills the two bad ones, I don't have the patience for it and I don't want to read about two nice characters becoming slaves within their own harem. No thank you.
you know, I really tried. It was so hard to finish (I only finished it because I can´t stand to NOT finish a book) it was the first book ever (I´ve read over 200 books so far) I really wanted to quit reading. The FMC had a annoying character in the first book, has been forced to bond, forgets her character and gets a character thats completely the opposite but still so bad and annoying. How is it possible to write a character with a shitty character TWICE and she even changed her core wtf. Sadly it was THE WORST BOOK I´VE EVER READ. The characters are getting worse with every page of this godforsaken book. I´m NOT reading the next one!!
✨...and can Humpty be pieced back together again?😉
This exciting tale takes the reader on an amazing journey of discovery. After Gina was broken by her alpha, can she truly be pieced together again? Was this always meant to be? Is there a hidden prophecy or another player(s)? Enjoy the many twists and turns, steamy moments, politics, prophecies and oh so much more fun within these pages. Prepare now for a doozy of a cliffy 😉.... I for one can't wait to see what's next for this fearless, intelligence, all around bright light of an Omega. Bring it on 💖.
Holy flurking shirt balls! That was intense and such a mess. But in a good way. In the kind of way that you’re left wanting more. So much more! This series is turning out to be one of my favorites. There are so many personalities rolled up into one little group. They are so opposite but so in sync that it works. I know there is so much more in depth going on that it’s slowly going to just come together in one big clash. And I can’t wait! How is any of this going to work!?! I can’t even predict what’s going to happen and that doesn’t happen often.
1.5/5⭐️ This series has me feeling all sorts of ways and most of them aren’t positive. A lot of the end of the last book and the start of this book bordered on SA. While Seif tries to redeem himself, his and Axel’s egos are problematic. I liked the end with Gina becoming a strong character again, especially after being such a shell of herself, but there was so much going on constantly that it was quite frustrating. Hoping the next book will resolve things and bring a good ended but not a whole lot of love for this series so far.
This book only interesting towards the end, and that was mainly because of my baby Zeke and what he's done. H e pissed me off a little in the first book but gosh he's certainly made up for it in this book. He deserves the world. And so does Gina and Rowan.
Which leads me to say- what Seif caused to happen to her by forcing her at the end of the first book was crazy. And I don't care how he acted afterwards, he did not make up for it.
Anyways, cant wait to see what happens in the next book!!
Fast paced, action packed with plenty of intrigue and steam, I loved this book, it kept me on the edge of my seat, I just couldn't put it down. Some things have changed for Gina, but also revealed a new enemy, and interfernce from other sources which could change the course of all their lives. This was a five star read, and I can't recomend it highly enough. I received this book in exchange for my honest review.
