For years, I used to say fondly that I did not know the name of my favourite book. This was absolutely true. I was fond of saying that because it sounded mysterious.

There had been a book at some point in my life that I had read and loved. Loved more in fact than any other up to that point. And so, as we often do with the books we love, I lent it to someone I believed could profit by it.

The book was lost, unread. For years I looked for it in vain. The person on whom this burden had been bestowed could not for the life of her find it, or so she told me. Futile Google searches were now and then attempted, in the hopes that some lucky combination of keywords would bring back the name of the author or the title of the book. They never did.

Yet, somehow, 13 years after, the book has been found. It was this book.

Would I find it so puzzlingly thrilling as I once did should I pick it up again? That is a question I dare not ask myself, but think that I should let this idol rest in the glory of my ever-fading memory.

Ugh. Sure, the approach was inventive, but I didn't like any of the characters - at all.

"The story until now has been in pieces"

The author effectively entrances us with thoughtful words comprising a state of delirium, emotions wound up and entangled in one another.

This novel far exceeded my expectations, it was mysterious and confusing and only about half way through do you fully comprehend the tale you are reading.

The book is a maze, a puzzle, pieces and pieces of several puzzles mixed among one another and each is carefully strung together until all is aligned.

It was such a strange novel yet I found myself enjoying it quite a lot, I practically rushed through the ending wanting to discover more about these peculiar and extremely different yet somewhat similar characters (I never thought I'd ever use this sentence xD)

This rating is from a different Carina:

I LOVED this book. I love how parts of it weave around and through.

Do not go into this book expecting to understand all of it, but just let it wash over and through you.

But it won't be for everyone!

Well written, but has nothing else going for it. Atmosphere doesn't make up for lack of plot or characterization, unfortunately.

This book is very impressed with itself, but the last chapter makes up for everything.
