Luffy a perdu ?! Confrontés à une situation de plus en plus délicate, les membres de l'alliance cherchent à tout prix une solution, mais leurs espoirs sont anéantis les uns après les autres. C'est alors que surgit Yamato, bien décidé à confronter son père.
Eiichiro Oda (尾田栄一郎, Oda Eiichirō) is a Japanese manga artist, best known as the creator of the manga and anime One Piece.
As a child, Oda was inspired by Akira Toriyama's works and aspired to become a manga artist. He recalls that his interest in pirates was probably sparked by the popular TV animation series titled Vicky the Viking. He submitted a character named Pandaman for Yudetamago's classic wrestling manga Kinnikuman. Pandaman was not only used in a chapter of the manga but would later return as a recurring cameo character in Oda's own works.

Loved it. Things are kicking up to high gear, the only downside is that I'm almost completely caught up which means I'll only be able to read a chapter a week soon.
Speaking partly in retrospect - now that the entire arc is over and I've read it all, even the things beyond this volume, at least twice, gotten about half a year to ruminate on it, I can pretty definitely say... I don't like Yamato.
Yeah, yeah. Look. The arc was already long and complex, bloated with more characters and subplots and loose ends than any other. We were gearing up for the big climax at last. I was getting a bit tired of it already at the time, to be honest. And now you bring in one more character, one whose very existence hadn't even been mentioned until now, one with a flashy design and boisterous personality and - as it turns out in this volume - a fancy rare Devil Fruit, and a personal connection to another important character, offspring of the main antagonist, all of which she here employs to basically muscle her way into the spotlight. Right out of nowhere.
And yet what does she actually add to the story? Almost nothing.
She only interacts with a handful of characters over the course of the raid. The conflicts she involves herself in feel fabricated and for their own sake. The connections mentioned above don't really add anything of significance and only raise further questions. Her father was Kaido, sure, but what about her mother? How did all of that come to be, and where did they go? I was halfway curious but it was never brought up at all. Her tragic backstory was fairly short and one-note and didn't add much that we didn't already know: the land was brought under Kaido's clawed heel, the samurai fought anyway, we were all told and shown as much as it was well before now. Almost her entire personality can be boiled down to her squeeing over Oden: you could have gotten some drama out of that as well, give her some character growth, have her realize she can be her own person and does not need to obsess over this already dead guy - a dead guy who himself openly stated that he didn't mind to be forgotten - but instead it all amounted to a running joke that, frankly, got old pretty fast.
I think Oda only added her in to complete the whole Momotarō reference he was building up, and he did everything he could to make her important and relevant and in general a big deal, but he could not make it feel authentic. It came across as fabricated and out of place. And at the end of the day, all it did was pad the story further: cut Yamato and related subplots (perhaps Marco as well, since his presence here shares much of the same criticism), and we could lighten up the arc by at least a full volume with almost nothing worthwhile going with it.
But enough griping, what else is there? Good things - almost everything else is good.
Zoro and Sanji take the stage at last and begin to take on the villain's two top henchmen, which for me signals the true beginning of the end. I'd gotten a bit hyped up for Chopper getting his moment in the sun by managing to take one of them out himself, but I guess that wasn't meant to be. But speaking of moments in the sun, Robin gets her own big fight for the first time since Skypiea, and it's glorious - by far the volume's highlight for me. On the other hand, Franky and Nami mostly just clear up loose ends: there's a couple good moments there, Zeus joining the team, lessons in dinosaur anatomy, but on the whole, ehh, I'm glad we got that out of the way. I'm more excited for Raizo's ninja duel, and it's pretty funny how long that one ends up lasting. Jinbei's own fight mostly just builds up backstory and sets things up for the future, which is very much needed with all else going on: in the middle of the chaos, I paused and thought about it and what could this mean...?
Minks gear up for their finale, too. Dogstorm and Jack is a good fight, with plenty of stakes and character motivations backing it up... but Cat Viper and Perospero I could not feel so well, what with Pedro and everything, on account of that all having been well settled previously: it was stated that Pedro went out in his own terms and that they wouldn't bear a grudge, and he blew up Perospero's arm in the process besides. It felt like opening up old wounds, digging up hatchets already buried. I think they could have pulled it off better.
Finally, Momonosuke comes to the end of his character arc. He makes the ultimate sacrifice so that he too could stand and fight. He stops being a child, both figuratively and literally. That I liked. I'd gotten to know him pretty well for the past decade, and for much of that time I didn't like him at all, but now all is forgiven.
Overall, bit of a mixed bag by One Piece standards. The Wano bloat really drags it down. And from what I recall, the next volume is more of the same.
WANO COUNTRY ARC - PART 11 1. MADS - vegapunk was one of them, i assume. a scientist team that had vegapunk, caesar and queen alongside?
2. nami and robin must be so comforting for children with their motherly instincts of protection, but to be fair, all of them must be comforting in some sense, or at least feel safe (except maybe franky)
3. MUGIWARAAAAAAAA (me like luffy because i cannot swim)
4. why am i being subjugated to the tragedy and sorrow of robin's past????? AGAIN?????? I THOUGHT I HEALED BUT I DIDN'T, I WILL NEVER HEAL
5. laboon best boi
6. when robin was being punched by black maria, couldn't robin dissolve the big version of hers? i mean, in the end she did, but could she not have done it earlier? (i LOVE that robin learned fish man karate AND I LOVE THE DEMON FORM HOLY SHIT ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOBINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN)
7. IMAGINE ZORO IS OF THE SHIMOTSUKI LINEEE THAT WOULD BE FIRE (THAT WOULD MEAN SHUSUI ACTUALLY BELONGS TO HIM)
8. oda is giving me peak zoro material (thank you)
9. MOMO IS 28 NOWWWWWWWWW? but still with the entire memories and experiences and also mental state of an 8 year old?
10. SNAKE MANNNNNN AND YAMATO TOGETHER HOLY FUCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
Chopper modo bebé me hizo reír.
with the pleasures turning against queen, 4000 men were added to the pirates and samurai. with zeus, nami managed to aim thunderbolt on uruti. two of the flying six are now down. yamato is standing against her father now until luffy comes back. tama rallied those people (the gifters) who ate her kibidango. 300 men switched to their side.
chopper has a super recovery drug that once administered, the person can recover very quickly, but when it wears of, it'll cause the pain to double. he's injecting it to zoro.
years ago, who's who failed to guard a devil fruit that was being transported on a government ship. it's luffy's gomu-gomu fruit. who's who mentioned “nika" the sun god revered by slaves from ancient times. he's a mythical warrior.
the first thing luffy says when he came back: MEAAAAT
yamato ate the dog-dog fruit and can turn into a rare mythical wolf.
instead of feeling like sanji betrayed her to black maria by calling for her, robin is happy. (THIS JUST SHOWS THEIR TRUST IN ONE ANOTHER OKAY. YOU WOULDN’T KNOW, BLACK MARIA.) robin turned into a demon???? the flying six are officially out of the picture.
momonosuke is asking shinobu to use her ability to turn him into an adult. such that he can fly luffy up to the island again. shinobu cried after seeing momonosuke at 28 years old. (i’m guessing cause he looks like his father. 😢)
one of the straw persons that hawkins is using is kidd’s so how is killer supposed to fight hawkins?
zoro recovered for the time being. his fighting style is the same as shimotsuki ushimaru, the daimyo of ringo, in his youth. ushimaru was a descendant of shimotsuki ryuma, the god of the blade. ryuma was also a one-eyed samurai.
flashback to young yamato: she was imprisoned with a bunch of samurai in a cave after she declared that she’s oden. instead of killing her, the samurais let her eat and even taught her how to read oden’s journal.
luffy’s back on the roof of the island thanks to momonosuke’s help!
Smashed through this one, so many fight finales. Loved finally seeing Robin get her chance to really shine in a battle, has felt pretty rare over the series run.
nico robin the woman that you are!!! her transformation was both unexpected and so cool. i'm happy she got her moment to shine cause she deserves it, and i wish both her and nami had more moments like this
Volume 101: Chapter 1016-1025 Saga 10: Wano Country Arc 31: Wano Country
Ulti still chasing Nami and Usopp. Nami defeated Ulti by using her new weapon, Zeus. Tama summoned the Headliners that have eaten her kibi dango to fight against Kaido. Franky fights Sasaki and he managed to defeat him. Robin fights Black Maria while Brook fights Black Maria's yokais. Robin learned how to use Fishman Karate and Haki while with the Revolutionary Army. She managed to beat Black Maria by turning into demon. Jinbe fights Who's Who. Who's Who is ex-CP9. 12 years ago he was assigned to guard a devil fruit who in shipment on the government ship. The devil fruit is Gomu Gomu no Mi which eaten by Luffy. Shanks is the one who steal the devil fruits. Jinbe managed to defeat Who's Who.
All the Tobi Roppo were defeated. Other ongoing fights are Killer vs. Hawkins, Raizo vs. Fukurokuju, Nekomamushi vs. Perospero and Inuarashi vs. Jack.
Chopper used a special drug on Zoro to let him recover. Sanji is fighting Queen. Queen was part of science group called MADS along with Vinsmoke Judge. After a while, Zoro was recovered. Both Zoro and Sanji fight King and Queen. Zoro resembled Shimotsuki Ushimaru who is the descendant of Shimotsuki Ryuma, the one-eyed samurai.
On the rooftop, Yamato fights Kaido. Yamato ate Inu Inu no Mi, Model: Okuchi-no-Makami thats make her a guardian deity of Wano. When Yamato is still a child, she was beaten by Kaido because she was declared herself as Oden. Yamato unlocked her Haoshoku no Haki while she still a child. 3 samurais (ex Daimyo) help her while she was thrown into a prison.
Luffy meets Shinobu and Momonosuke and asked Momonosuke to turn into dragon and bring him up into Onigashima. At the same time, Luffy must replenish his energy by eating. Caribou helps him by providing foods for him. Momonosuke asked Shinobu to turn him into adult by using her ability. Momonosuke and Luffy fly up into the Onigashima to fight Kaido again.
Wano Act Three continues to be good, but it feels like the translation has taken a hit. Like, something is slightly "off." It's intangible. Kind of feels like amateur scanslation rather than, you know, paid dudes hired by VIZ to do a job. Ah, wait - that's the problem! It's VIZ! They suck in general!
Anyway, this episode sees most of the lesser Straw Hats finish their fights against the Tobi Roppo. By the end of the volume, we just have King, Queen, Linlin, and Kaidou left standing. Wait, did Jack get defeated? I already forgot. I think so, but maybe not yet? Cat Viper and Dogstrom both went Sulong against Jack and Perospero, respectively, but I don't recall if Jack is actually down for real. Whatever, I'll find out next volume.
There's some lore stuff here to foreshadow a "twist" that will happen soon-ish, but has been in play at least since Jaya/Skypeia. There's also teases of King being a Lunarian, which ties a little into Skypeia as well, considering Enel's cover story thing after his defeat. We'll see if anything comes of that.
God damn, I'm less than two years behind, and I'm so excited! I've almost caught up!

Series: One Piece #101 Rating: 4 stars - It was really good
The battle at Onigashima continues with Yamato taking over the battle against Kaido, Jimnei fighting Who’s-Who, Sanji fighting Queen, Hawkins fighting Killer, Robin fighting Black Maria, Frankie fighting Saski, and Otama turning a bunch of the grifters to Luffy’s side. There is nonstop fighting going on and a lot of damage is being done to the Beast Pirates, and their castle. This volume ends with Momonoske helping Luffy return to Onigashima and stepping back into the fight against Kaido. It has been an action packed volume and I can’t wait to see how Luffy deals with Kaido. Also, Yamato’s beast form is so cool and I can’t wait to see more of it in the future.
Time for me to speak my truth: I don't like Yamato.
There was no hint o this character and the ties to Ace this entire arc, and ultimately I don't see the point of making Yamato Kaido's child. We don't know enough about either of them and the set-up is so easily "Kaido bad, Yamato good" that there's zero tension or stakes in this relationship. It all just feels forced and random, and I would rather we just have an existing character info dump and do the delay-Kaido fight. And the gimmick of "I am Oden" is annoying and makes no sense.
With that rant out of the way...I am just waiting for G5.
love how kaido is supposed to be the worst person in the world, and has mistreated, beaten and imprisoned his only child, but as soon as his daughter wants to be his son he’s like yeah that’s fine 💀
i’m so proud of the straw hats they’ve grown so much from the first volume/season, i wish pirates were real 😔
I'm pretty much done writing individual reviews for these volumes. I've made my feelings about this series pretty clear, but I'm too deep into it now to quit 😂
