I always enjoy a full-cast audiobook and both narrators did an outstanding job with the narration.
This is my first Rebecca Badley book and I plan to listen to "Claudia Nunn" Book 1 and Book 2, as well as future titles in this series.

This series just keeps getting better with each new book, This time we look at the events that took place from a murder victims perspective. Harlow had been murdered at the hotel she was staying in, and Detective Claudia Nunn and her team have been called in to investigate. But there is very little to go on. The characters are well developed and believable. The pace is steady and the plotline has been cleverly crafted.

What had Harlow been up to, and is it what got her killed?
She Knew Her Killer is an intriguing and tense thriller with some unexpected twists and turns, and it's mostly told from the investigative point of view. I like gutsy Detective Claudia Nunn a lot. She and her team get called out when the body of one of a group of friends visiting for a reunion weekend is discovered murdered. The plot moves forward as the investigation does. Interestingly, the POV of murdered Harlow starts with her murder and then works backward more and more days, giving the reader glimpses into why she was murdered.
Why are the top-brass moving detectives off the case until there are only three people left to investigate it? And why are THEY becoming the target of violent attacks??
I feel She Knew Her Killer can definitely be read as a stand-alone and I recommend it!.
FYI: there is quite a bit of the F-Bomb in this book, for readers who wish to avoid that.

She Knew Her Killer by Rebecca Bradley is the third thriller in the Detective Claudia Nunn series. The story is about friends getting together for a reunion, but there seem to be a few secrets from the past. Harlow Cunningham is found murdered, and her friends are all upset and could be suspects. Harlow did appear to be distracted as she went along with the meetings, plans, and activities. The story is told partially from Harlow's view, and you know she is there with a different motive. As the investigation progresses, Detective Claudia Nunn finds her team sidelined from the case. What is going on? What did Harlow know that caused someone to kill her?
I will say the friends did not seem especially close and all of them had not kept in touch through the years. She Knew Her Killer is a very good mystery/thriller that keeps your interest!

Great mystery
I’m really loving the new DI Claudia Nunn series, this one was a cracker, they just keep getting better! It drew me in and kept me guessing from the first to the last and it had some really nice turns in it. I like the main and supporting characters too, they’re nicely drawn and I like learning a bit more as each book comes out. The storyline was a good one , bit different from the usual uk crime story and it progressed at a good pace, very enjoyable and I read it pretty quickly to find out who it was. Looking forward to the next instalment.

REVIEW:
WOW, what a gripping, sad, emotional tale. I absolutely loved this book, I think it’s the best so far, and I loved the last one too.
Without spoiling it for other readers it just shows what can happen in someone’s life and the repercussions tumbling later on like a pack of cards.
I must say Claudia and the team are close, and even Sharpe proved her metal in this one!

This is the third book in the series that features Claudia Nunn and it is probably the easiest out of the three to read as a standalone novel. However I do recommend that you read them I’m order. This is one of those series where you benefit from knowing exactly what is happening within this small team of police officers.
I can’t remember when, or if, I’ve read a novel where one of the main characters was the police officer who was investigating the murder and the other was the victim. This felt a little eerie at first, knowing what was going to happen even though I didn’t know who the murderer was. Seeing Harlow’s excitement and trepidation and knowing what the outcome would be even though you didn’t know what her plans were.
I have also never read a novel where the police were being controlled by somebody outside of the force. Someone who was determined to prevent them finding out the truth and were prepared to do anything to get their wish. I read with increasing anxiety about the team’s safety.
In this novel you get to see how close that team is. Having to deal with the control, the danger they faced when they over stepped the boundaries and the huge amount of respect they had for each other. I really appreciated seeing the bond between Claudia and Russ but also with her DCI, Maddison Sharpe. All too often that relationship is missing in a novel, but the author shows how important it is for the more superior officers to be present.
This is a series that I’m eager to continue, I can’t wait to see what Claudia has to face in the future.

A group of friends are reuniting, when one of them is murdered. When the police investigate, the friends are unable to tell them much about why they got together where they did, as the victim was the one with the plans, and apparently an agenda for which she was killed.

I have been a fan of Rebecca’s work for a little while now. I love the series she created which featured Detective Inspector Hannah Robbins. Rebecca has also written another series, which is printed by Joffe Books and which features the new character of Detective Inspector Claudia Nunn. I loved the first two books in the series featuring DI Claudia Nunn and so when I heard that Rebecca was due to release a third book in the series, I knew that I had to read it as soon as I managed to get hold of a copy. Well ladies and gents the wait is over because the third book in the DI Claudia Nunn series is called ‘She Knew Her Killer’ and it was released on 31st May 2022. It’s another cracker of a read, which I thoroughly enjoyed but more about that in a bit.
It took me no time at all to get into ‘She Knew Her Killer’. In fact seeing Rebecca’s name on the cover of a book that I hadn’t yet read was enough to grab my attention, the synopsis drew me in and then the story sealed the deal as it were. I made the fatal mistake of starting to read the book shortly before I went to bed. Let’s just say that bedtime was delayed and I had a distinct ‘lack of sleep’ hangover the following morning but it was so worth it. To say that reading ‘She Knew Her Killer’ became addictive is an understatement. My Kindle wasn’t exactly glued to my hand but it might as well have been because it travelled everywhere with me. I couldn’t bear to miss a single second of the story. I developed my own theories as to what was going to happen and of course I had to keep reading to see if I was on the right track or if I had wandered down the wrong path entirely. I became so wrapped up in the story that I lost all track of time and just how quickly the pages were turning. All too quickly I reached the end of ‘She Knew Her Killer’ and I had to say goodbye to Claudia and the rest of the team. I found ‘She Knew Her Killer’ to be a gripping, tense and dramatic read, which kept me guessing and which kept me on the edge of my seat.
‘She Knew Her Killer’ is superbly written but then I have come to expect nothing less from Rebecca Bradley. Rebecca has one of those easy going writing styles that is easy to get used to and easy to get along with. For me, the story hit the ground running and maintained a fast pace throughout. I love the fact that Rebecca sets her stories in places with which I am familiar. The Claudia Nunn series is set in Sheffield, which is a place close to my heart. Reading ‘She Knew Her Killer’ felt like being on an at times scary and unpredictable rollercoaster ride with several twists and turns along the way. Rebecca clearly cares about her characters and this shines through in the very vivid and realistic way in which she describes them. I also love the way in which Rebecca makes the reader feel as though they are part of the story themselves and at the heart of the action.
In short, I thoroughly enjoyed reading ‘She Knew Her Killer’ and I would definitely recommend this book to other readers. I will certainly be reading more of Rebecca’s work in the future. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a very well deserved 5* out of 5*.

Harlow Cunningham has arranged a reunion with her friends from school in Sheffield, but she doesn’t spend all her time with her friends, making secrets trips out of the hotel. On Sunday morning she is found murdered and Claudia is tasked with the investigation, until she starts to make progress and her team is reassigned. What did Harlow know that got her killed to keep it secret?
I enjoyed She Knew Her Killer, which starts slowly but soon ramps up to an exciting read with several twists and turns. It is mostly told from the investigative point of view, so the who and the why are a mystery that keeps the reader turning the pages. These are gradually teased out in a two pronged approach, there is the investigation and there are occasional chapters which flashback to Harlow’s activities in the days before her murder. These chapters don’t initially give much away, but it isn’t difficult to guess the broad thrust of where they are going, if not the detail, and it’s that detail that produces the twists and the motive. It’s well done.
I think the plot is quite imaginative in its big secret. None of it is new to crime fiction, but the author puts it together in a fresh way that holds the interest. I like the concept of the players’ identities and how it came about. I also liked the hint of police corruption and how Claudia fights it. I was less enamoured with the solution, which seems a bit weak in comparison with all the effort that went into stopping the investigation, namely the potential corruption and attacks on the investigating officers.
Claudia is in turmoil in this novel. She is still coming to terms with having killed a man and isn’t getting on well with her father, DS Dominic Harrison, who seems incapable of offering support and unwilling to discuss it with her.

Five old school friends reunited for a weekend in Sheffield where they planned to reminisce, have fun and have the time of their lives. However, what neither one of them imagined was that by the end of the weekend, one of them would end up brutally murdered. A drunken game of truth or date took a very dark and sinister twist with one of the women found dead in her swanky hotel room. Why was she killed? Could one of her friends be the killer? These are questions which Detective Claudia Nunn intends to find answers to – before it’s too late.
When she gets the text after leaving her therapist’s office about the murder, Claudia makes her way to the hotel to question the victim’s friends. I've enjoyed this series so far but She Knew Her Killer wasn't as good as the previous books. It's an average whodunnit murder mystery/procedural with Claudia Nunn and her father Dominic again leading the police effort, this time trying to solve the murder of a woman in a hotel.
Unfortunately this particular crime just isn't as enthralling as the material in the previous books. There's no advancement on the main story arc of Dom's secret (which was the twist at the end of the first book and I won't spoil it by saying anything else here) which was disappointing, although there's hints everything might come out in the next book.
The story is written from two main POVs - Claudia in the present and the victim in the past, covering events which lead up to her murder. I'm not usually a fan of this sort of structure but it works pretty well here. The main problem is the same as in the last book - the author adds pages and pages of unnecessary information in which makes this book a struggle to get through. One character will have a conversation with someone, then a few paragraphs later they'll repeat all the same information they were given to someone else, almost verbatim, so I'm stuck reading the same thing twice. Even when this isn't happening, characters often repeat the same lines to the same people, or slightly modified versions of them, often in the same conversation. This is one of those books that could probably be a good 50 pages shorter and be better off for it.
It's not a bad book, but I never felt engaged or really interested in who the murderer turned out to be. Perhaps I'll enjoy the next one more. I'm still interested in how things will end up for Claudia and Dom

One character will have a conversation with someone, then a few paragraphs later they'll repeat all the same information they were given to someone else, almost verbatim, so I'm stuck reading the same thing twice. Even when this isn't happening, characters often repeat the same lines to the same people, or slightly modified versions of them, often in the same conversation. This is one of those books that could probably be a good 50 pages shorter and be better off for it.
It's not a bad book, but I never felt engaged or really interested in who the murderer turned out to be. Perhaps I'll enjoy the next one more. I'm still interested in how things will end up for Claudia and Dom

She Knew Her Killer is the third book in the Detective Claudia Nunn series (and the second one I have read) and the series continue to thrill me. Of course, it’s always better for character development and longer story arcs to read the books in order however, Rebecca does a great job of going over the information you need and the books also work well as a stand-alone.
I was hooked from the opening chapter. Drawn in by an unknown character and tantilised by a little air of mystery, I couldn’t help but be addicted to this mystery of Harlow, who was attending a reunion with old friends.
I love that this series is set in Sheffield. I’m a Rotherham girl originally (family still are) and I love seeing the North represented in books. And I enjoy when I recognise places and can relate to them.
Police procedurals always fascinate me. I enjoy the process of solving a crime using forensics and detective work and I always find it fun to try and piece the puzzle together with the team and this book really made me feel part of the process by revealing small amounts of evidence and clues throughout. The flashbacks from Harlow’s life also helped give some insight into things but not too much to spoil the mystery and tension.
Added into the mix is the limited number of staff available. As soon as the case begins to make headway, most of the team are pulled onto a different incident, leaving Nunn with only two other detectives, one of who is her father. Nunn is struggling with her relationship with her dad as well as the aftermath of shooting a perpetrator which all add tension and unease.
This is a fabulous crime thriller and a series that is well worth checking out.

Detective Claudia Nunn is back in book 3 of this gripping series set in Sheffield. Although you will enjoy this so much more if you have read books 1 and 2 it does work perfectly as stand alone.

Princess Fuzzypants here: This is the third book in a series but as I proved, it can be read as a standalone. In fact, it made me want to go back and read the earlier ones. It was a page turner from beginning to end with a wonderful female detective as the protagonist. She is called to a posh Sheffield hotel where a guest has been murdered.
Harlow, the victim, came to Sheffield to host a reunion of her best friends from school. It has been 20 years since they saw each other. They catch up on what has been going on but she does not tell them the second reason she is there. She wants another reunion of sorts- or more precisely to meet up with important people from her past. This will be the first time she has talked to either one and she wants answers. What she does not expect is that her curiosity will be the death of her.
The story goes back and forth from Harlow’s movements from the time she arrived in town to her murder and Claudia’s investigation into her demise. The investigation is churning along well with all hands on deck until the order comes from above that strips Claudia of her entire team except for the two cops she works with the most. One happens to be her father whom she commands. It creates friction exacerbated by her feelings from killing the man who was trying to kill her.
The three continue to dig and it is only after two attempted murders do the “brass” finally acknowledge there is corruption and chicanery and allow the search to go on unhindered. I was thoroughly engrossed in this book. It is well written and enjoyable as the tension rises with wonderful characters to cheer on.

Good story with one major plot hole

Being a fan of this author I have read the two previous books in this series which I had found hugely disappointing compared to the authors other series (Hannah Robbins) which is brilliant if too dark on occasion. This was the best of the three in this series. I find Claudia an unsympathetic protagonist and it’s hard to get that involved in a series of books when you don’t like or care about the lead character. The plot in this one was much better than the previous two BUT despite reading the last few chapters twice in case I missed it, at no point was it explained how the hell the victim knew who her biological father or brother were. It makes no sense and that drives me crazy! The biological mother doesn’t reveal due to how it would impact on her life so there was no way for the murder victim to know. This really spoiled it for me as the ending then felt rushed and nonsensical. It was also very jarring to find zero references in the whole book about Dom’s true personality and what he had been up to in previous books.
This series of books continues to disappoint but as I say, try the authors other series and you won’t be disappointed.

This is the third book in the series featuring Detective Claudia Nunn. It reads well as a stand-alone but I enjoyed it more with having read the previous books. Claudia is still have counselling and struggling to come to terms with having killed a man. A woman’s body is discovered in a hotel bedroom. Harlow was staying there in a reunion weekend with four other old school friends. Her friends say she was distracted and left the hotel for a while not disclosing where she was going but was obviously meeting someone. Claudia and her team seem to have little to go on and are given extra staff to speed up the investigation. However as Harrow’s past begins to unravel Claudia receives news from the top that most of her team are are being withdrawn. Who is putting the investigation in jeopardy? Not long after one of her team and Claudia herself are targeted. Bit by bit it is revealed what happened to Harlow leading up to her murder and kept me guessing right until the end. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

A very suspense filled story that unwinds with a look back transitional plot. Do Claudia Nunn is assigned the murder of a young woman who was on a school reunion trip with friends she had not seen in years. When she does not show up as expected one morning, she is found murdered in her hotel room. And the mystery begins and immediately gets complicated by orders from above aimed at stymying her investigation.
The author takes you back and forth between the days leading up to the murder and the progress of the investigation in to it. While I am not usually a big fan of a jockeying back and forth plot, it is almost seamlessly done with no transition readjustment needed.
Besides her relentless pursuit of clues and direction, Claudia is also chasing her own demons: coping with her killing, though righteous, of a suspect in a previous case, her Dad's seeming indifference to her mental fatigue and dealing with her ex. All of which made for a really good and very interesting story.

Harlow was at a school reunion when she was killed. She opened her hotel room door and felt something go around her neck. Detective Claudia Nunn and team have little to go on, the hotel guests and staff having seen little other than a phone call where Harlow appeared riled or upset. When things take a turn for the worse and there is pressure from the above, the reduced team really has their work cut out. Who would be instigating such things and why was a seemingly innocent woman murdered?
I really enjoyed this and quickly felt myself wrapped between the pages. It's been a while since I read the second one in the series and felt this would happily stand alone, this being the third in the DI Nunn series. Claudia is a very likeable character who is tenacious and determined and comes across very well- to me the sign of an excellent author. A riveting, compelling police procedural read

I absolutely loved it. The story splits into 2 , 1 side is from the victim Harlow's perspective and the other from the murder investigation side. Whar makes it more intriguing is that Harlow's side is in the earlier mode prior to her murder and it is clear that she has some deep secret.
I was hooked from the start and my interest was piqued even more when it is obvious that someone higher up wants the investigation to go away. This was a thoroughly enjoyable read and I will now go back and read the earlier books in the series.

The way that this third Claudia Nunn mystery is told is quite different from the previous books in the series. As we follow Claudia and her team as they try to get to the bottom of who killed a young woman, Harlow, in her hotel room, we also follow Harlow's story, working backwards from her murder. As Claudia uncovers the clues, we also see Harlow living the events that lead to someone squeezing the life out of her. It might have been something different, but it certainly works.
I did guess who the killer was before we reached the end, but it was really close to when Claudia herself made the discovery.
I really enjoyed this book in the series and think that it was a step up from the previous book. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next for this interesting detective.

Harlow was meeting up with old school friends when she was killed inside her hotel room. As the story unfolds we discover that there were secrets that nobody else knew but were these what led to her death or was it something more obvious? Meanwhile there are clearly people who don’t want the truth to come out and Claudia finds her team’s efforts hampered as they attempt to solve what has happened.
The story alternates viewpoints between Harlow’s perspective working backwards from her death and the detectives working forward from her death.
I enjoyed this book more than the previous two in the series and think it will be a series that continues to develop well.

Harlow Cunningham arranged to meet four old schoolfriends in a hotel in Sheffield for a reunion. She is very excited to meet up with them again but her friends noticed that at times she was distracted and disappeared from the hotel without telling them where she was going or what she was doing. Then the unthinkable happens and she is found murdered in her room. DI Claudia Nunn leads the investigation into the murder but soon finds her investigation is being blocked at every turn. Someone does not want the truth to come out, but who and why? There is plenty of action in this book and I did not want to put it down.

A different way of looking at things from the murdered persons perspective. Most books start away from the murder and work forward. This one does the reverse. Much stronger, more intriguing. A good story with well developed protagonists. Of course if you've been reading the series from the beginning, you have privileged information that DI Claudia Nunn doesn't. I'm really looking forward to the next book.

Although this is book 3 in the Claudia Nunn series, it can be easily read as a stand alone. It's a very intriguing read as it looks at things from the murder victim's perspective and it works really well. I really love the character of Claudia, she is very likeable, the characters are believable and fresh. The plot was interesting and the book flowed well at a steady pace. I found myself eager to turn the pages to see what happened next. This is bound to be a winner for the author and I would highly recommend. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.
